Kobojunkie:I take issue with your negative stand as articulated above. And Yes, in terms of financial muscle, Africa is indeed poorer and there are differement wyas to assess Africa's poverty: Technologically: We all know that the richest countries in the world are also the most advanced countries technologically. The 21st centurey economy, unlike in centuries past is driven by technology. America stil the richest country in the world is the most technologically advanced country in the world. What about Japan, China, Russia. Even emerging economies like India and Brazil are driven by Technological advancement, not natural resources. Also the aid money we accept from the western world is more than our GDP. So to say that we are not poorer is just being economical with the truth. Also, it is true that Africa is less stable than the western world, it is however by every parameter happier than the rest of the world. For starters, as a poor continent, coupled with our mantal laziness, we worry less about things that the rest of the world typically worry about, making us hugely happier that our counterparts elsewhere because we wont be bothered by say, electric bills, dissapointments from getting to work late, failing to acquire needed fund for some arsinine research projects, etc etc. And because of less degree of perceived dissapointments, we do not kill ourselves like they do in the west. And yes, the picture of Africa painted by the poster above you is correct, not the entire picture though, but nevertheless, a correct picture. |
