The first couple of months of the 2017/18 season have been very exciting, with Manchester City blazing a trail at the top of the table and rivals Manchester United just two points behind them. Tottenham have struggled at Wembley, while champions Chelsea have been subject to a couple of shock defeats – while both Arsenal and Liverpool have been treading water with familiar issues. The likes of Romelu Lukaku, Kyle Walker, Alvaro Morata, Alexandre Lacazette and Mohamed Salah were signed by some of the country’s biggest teams in the summer, and have done particularly well so far this campaign. But not every big name signing has delivered just yet. We’ve taken a look at the biggest deals that happened in the transfer window, and picked out 10 stars that really need to make something happen soon to justify their clubs’ spending. 10. Danny Drinkwater (Chelsea) The £35m midfielder arrived from Leicester City but is yet to feature due to an injury. Hard to see how he’ll fit in even when he recovers. Nigeria face Zambia in Uyo on Saturday in the penultimate round of the World Cup Qualifiers. Rohr’s men are on the brink of securing a World Cup spot as a win against the Chipolopolo will all but guarantee a Russia 2018 berth. The Super Eagles got off their World Cup qualification campaign with a 2-1 win against Zambia in Ndola and that should be some sort of encouragement coming into this fixture. Coupled with the fact that the Super Eagles currently top group B with 10 points and Zambia lie on 7 points in second place, It promises to be an exciting game with all to play for from both sides. Rohr’s men come into this fixture from a 1-1 draw with Cameroon in Yaounde. After dispatching the Indomitable lions in an emphatic 4-0 win in Uyo, the Super Eagles failed to do the double on their opponents at home. Despite controlling much possession in the reverse fixture, the Nigerians failed to convert a couple of chances to make it 2-0, before Ikechukwu Ezenwa brought down a Cameroonian player in the box. Vincent Aboubacar stepped up and levelled from the spot. Zambia can only get six more points. Even if they achieve that feat and the Super Eagles lose their two remaining fixtures, the Chipolopolo would still need to match Nigeria’s superior goals difference. The Gunners eased their way to a 2-0 victory over the Seagulls at Emirates Stadium, with Nacho Monreal and Alex Iwobi on target. The South Coast side are the 45th top-flight opponent to suffer defeat against Wenger, with the Frenchman having spent over 20 years at the helm in north London. A slow start to 2017-18 saw further questions asked of his presence at the Emirates, but Arsenal head into the next international break on the back of a seven-match unbeaten run in all competitions Read More: http://soccerraid.com/wenger-sets-premier-league-record-against-brighton/

Chelsea’s focus returns to the Champions League this week for what will be their toughest test in Group C. Antonio Conte’s side travel to face Atletico Madrid on Wednesday, where they will likely see a familiar face albeit sat in the stands. The Diego Costa transfer saga has overshadowed much of Chelsea’s build-up to this season’s campaign, but that appears to be nearing an end after the Blues agreed a deal with Atletico in midweek. His presence will be the talking point pre-match, but as kick-off arrives on Wednesday, attention will soon turn to a battle between two serious contenders for the crown. Both sides come into this game with a good form and with that in mind, we’re set for an exciting 90 minutes in Madrid on Wednesday. Manchester United fans have been left fuming as Henrikh Mkhitaryan’s scorpion kick goal against Sunderland failed to make the Fifa Puskas Award nominations list despite Olivier Giroud’s similar strike for Arsenal against Crystal Palace made it on. The Armenia international showed remarkable skill and improvisation to acrobatically find the back of the net in a 3-1 win over the Black Cats on Boxing Day last year, after the nominations for 2016 had already come in.] Mohd Faiz Subri won last year’s edition of the prize, and was presented with the trophy at the awards ceremony in January. While Mkhitaryan’s goal came a little late for it to earn a nomination last year, it is not clear why it has failed to make it among this year’s contenders, which judge strikes from the last twelve months of football around the world. Liverpool’s bad run hit a new low when they were beaten 2-0 by Leicester City in the Carabao Cup and it was the same story; the Reds were the team doing the creating, Leicester were doing the scoring. The Reds recent results have made a lot of people realize that Liverpool are not different from last season in terms of a few things. As such, they can not be considered title contenders at the moment and here’s why: Read More:http://soccerraid.com/liverpool-are-not-title-challengers-yet-and-heres-why/

Sergio Aguero hit a hat-trick as Manchester City brushed Watford aside to return to the top of Premier League table. Sergio Aguero made it nine goals in his last five games against Watford with a hat-trick in Manchester City’s 6-0 win at Vicarage Road. Manchester City moved to the top of the Premier League and extended their unbeaten run to 13 games with a 6-0 win over Watford inspired by a Sergio Aguero hat-trick. It was a demolition from City, who were three goals to the good before half-time as Marco Silva was on course to suffer a damaging home defeat. Barcelona lost Ousmane Dembele to injury just 25 minutes into his full LaLiga debut against Getafe. The initial €105million signing appeared to suffer a hamstring problem as he tried to back-heel the ball near the corner flag midway through the first half of Saturday’s away match, which was goalless at the time. Dembele immediately raised his arm and then sat on the turf as he pointed to the back of his leg. He then walked off the pitch. Free-spending Paris Saint-Germain demonstrated their prowess with a 5-0 thumping of Celtic in their Champions League opener at Parkhead. The world’s most expensive frontline did the damage in the first-half as Brazilian star Neymar opened the scoring in the 19th minute before 18-year-old French sensation Kylian Mbappe added a second in the 34th minute with Edinson Cavani scoring with a penalty before the break. A fan from among the home supporters revealed his frustration when he came on to the pitch to aim a fresh-air kick at Mbappe before being escorted away by stewards and there was more distress after the break. Arsenal’s refusal to sell Alexis Sánchez is rooted in long-term economic factors, as well as sporting ones, with the club convinced it would be more damaging to the club to accept a large fee for him this summer than to risk losing him as a Bosman free agent next summer. Arsène Wenger spoke again on Saturday after his side’s 3-0 loss to Chelsea in Beijing about how Sánchez, who has entered the final year of his contract and has made it clear the Chilean would not be allowed to leave. The Chile forward is a prime target for Manchester City and Paris Saint-Germain, with his desire being to join the former. “The decision has been made and we will stick to that, the media just have their imagination” Arsenal’s manager said, from their pre-season tour of China. “The decision is not to sell.” The club’s dilemma has often been painted in black-and-white terms. Either they sell now for £50m, which is the figure that Sánchez’s suitors could reasonably expect to pay, or they get nothing for him next summer. Yet there are many layers to the situation and one of the most significant concerns Champions League revenue, which Arsenal will miss out on this season, after their fifth-placed Premier League finish, and do not want to miss out on again. The Champions League is worth roughly £40m per year to the club and, with Sánchez playing alongside the new £53m signing, Alexandre Lacazette, they would be hopeful of making it back into the group phase of the competition. Without him the probability would drop, increasing the likelihood of a hole in the finances. Read More Here: http://soccerraid.com/the-reason-arsenal-wont-sell-alexis-sanchez/

Exactly.. Why can't Wenger play Giroud and Lacazette upfront? Considering that Giroud also gives reasonable assists. Just like how Giroud and Griezmann thrive for France. Giroud does the ball retaining and link-up play.. While Lacazette does the finishing |
Arsenal have already enjoyed a fruitful transfer window, snapping up Alexandre Lacazette from Lyon for a £52million fee. However, the arrival of the France international could have consequences for their current crop of strikers. Giroud has regularly incurred the wrath of Arsenal supporters since replacing Robin van Persie in 2012 and could quit the Emirates now Lacazette has been snared. Perez, meanwhile, spent much of the last season languishing behind the likes of Alexis Sanchez and Giroud in the pecking order. And the Mirror claim both forwards are likely to depart. Giroud has been linked with a return to France with Marseille in the past but Chelsea’s interest in Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang could see him end up at Borussia Dortmund. Dortmund are willing to let the Gabon international go and supposedly see Giroud as the ideal man to replace him. It would possibly suggest the Bundesliga side will change tact this season, with new manager Peter Bosz keen to rebuild after an inconsistent league campaign under Thomas Tuchel last term. Perez, meanwhile, could return to Deportivo La Coruna. See Also: PSG Back In Chase For Alexis Sanchez: http://soccerraid.com/psg-back-in-chase-for-alexis-sanchez/ Read more news at www.soccerraid.com

Walcott: ”I’m Happy To Play In Any Position For Arsenal” Theo Walcott says he is happy to play in any position for the benefit of the team, per the Mirror. Walcott has played as the lone striker in our line-up this season but has been moved out wide to accommodate Olivier Giroud recently. The shift appears to be working as we currently sit two points clear at the top of the Premier League on 42 from 20 games. Our 1-0 win over Newcastle on Saturday meant we have won five of our last six league games and Walcott does not mind ceding the striking position with the team in good form. Walcott played 81 minutes on the left wing before being replaced by Kieran Gibbs. He said: “Like I’ve said with the manager before, I want to be playing up front but I can operate anywhere in those front three lines. Anything for the team, really – I will do anything. “Olivier is in great goal-scoring form, so you wouldn’t want to change that. The flow is good and we will be getting players back fit soon as well so it is important to keep up this run. I’m enjoying it on the left and it gives me permission to wander around”. ”We are getting the results. Southampton was a bit of a blip – if you want to win a championship you are never going to go without a blip. It was a bit of a wake-up call and we bounced back well.” For more latest and reliable Arsenal news, visit http://www.gunnerscircle.com/

Petr Cech has revealed his pride at breaking the Premier League’s clean-sheet record The goalkeeper claimed his 170th shut-out in the 2-0 win against Bournemouth to move past David James’ long-standing total. Cech was delighted to reach the milestone, and says he was waiting for the final whistle to blow on Monday night. “I must say at the end of the game I was proud,” he told Arsenal Player. “It is not every day you break the record of the best league in the world.(WORD!!!).
