China has unveiled the world's first container ship powered by a thorium molten salt reactor (TMSR).

This is a breakthrough in the cargo vessel market.

The power system used in the container ship matches the S6W reactors employed in the U.S. Navy's submarines, but it holds significant advantages over them:

- operates at low pressure - which reduces the risk of core meltdown

- utilizes thorium – a safer and more widely available alternative to uranium

- produces a minimal amount of waste and cannot be used for weapons production

This signifies a breakthrough in nuclear marine propulsion, giving China an edge in zero-emission deep-sea shipping as well as reactor technology.

American shipbuilding is a pathetic shadow of its former self, dwarfed by Chinas industrial juggernaut. Chinas yards boast over 23 million tons in annual capacity: 232 times the US measly 100k tons, and it captures 70% of global orders while the US clings to 0.1%. One Chinese shipbuilder alone outproduced all US yards since WWII in 2024. Militarily, Chinas navy swells to 395 ships by 2025, the US Navy stagnates at 294 by 2030, funding just 5-6 new vessels yearly amid chronic delays and half-capacity yards.
