Basically it’s a start up ai company in china that created their own version of chat gpt
The reason they got so big is because they proved to the world that you didn’t need alot of money and resources to build and train ai models

OpenAI (company that owns gpt) spends billions of dollars every year building their ai models

OpenAI uses the latest tech from nvidia as nvidia is the number company when it comes to producing powerful chips and GPUs

While deepseek used older versions of chips and still built a better model than gpt

Because of this, it showed the world that you don’t need so much resources to build these models which was why the stock prices of OpenAI and nvidia took a deep


The reason they are able to use so little amount of resources and still make more efficient ai models than OpenAI is because of how deep seek trains its ai models

Deep seek, main works by actually reasoning with itself before giving you answers
Meaning you have better chances of getting GREAT results because these results are well thought out


OpenAI trains its models with large amounts of data sets and human feedback, this requires large amount of computing power and resources to efficiently manage, also they train all their models to become one powerful know-it-all machine.

Unlike deep seek, which trains each part of its ai model meaning if you as a user want to ask accounting questions, the model would automatically switch to the part which was trained specifically for accounting, and so on
