Bendeco2020: To all northerners reading this, tinubu's speech confirmed why SE ignored the protest.
There's one funny yoruba guy that said that the price of fuel will come down to #200 after the protest. Has fuel ever rised with more than × 2 of the previous price and later bounce back in this Nigeria?
Easterners already knew that the protest will not solve the issues or bring back the fuel subsidy which is the main cause of the harship we're experiencing now.
What North should do is to stop their Governors/Leaders from selling/rigging their votes for tinubu by 2027. If not, even with current situation of things, tinubu will still win their states once he aligns with their governors/leaders and bribe them.
This is not the matter of we will not vote for you come 2027, but can you secure or protect your votes?. We saw what wike did in Rivers State last year during presidential election
Ogbeni, better rest your mind ,when Tinubu has no power in government, he won election, is it when he is now president he will lose....dey play
overseasnbeyond: As a concerned Nigerian, it is obvious President Tinubu had failed woefully more than his predecessor. The President and his cohorts are steering the wheels of the country toward anarchy and destruction. Since the Emilokan's administration, life and property is no longer secure, kidnapping and boko haram activities on increase everyday. the rich are now getting kidnapped every day. Hunger in the land, currency now worthless. The country keeps borrowing to loot.
Add your own reason(s) if you think Tinubu should resign.
Go and remove him and put your gateman father there.....ode
savenaijatoday: What most people don't know about politics and governance is that it mustn't be you. You can't do everything with money. What is Tinubu looking? Is it money or fame? The disgrace, stress and insults he receives from Nigerians every day would've been avoided if he had listened to himself and allowed younger people do the tough job. He still has 2027 like Nobel to redeem his battered image if his office lasts till then. But the greedy, gluttonous psychopaths around him will still push him and make him lose all he has laboured to get for years. Learn wisdom and you will never miss your way.
Shut up, only that you don't have money and your father does not have. After money you look for power.
Bebigiby1: Before the August 1 nationwide protest, I shared a list of workable demands that Nigerians should agitate for during the protest. The first demand I pointed was for Nigerians to push for the resignation of Tinubu and the dissolution of the government to pave the way for the establishment of an interim smaller government. This demand was borne out of the fact that Tinubu lacks the capacity to unite and lead this country, his government will not listen to Nigerians, the government is insensitive, incompetent, it is incapable of implementing political and economic reforms that protesters are agitating for. You can see that even after the carnage that was unleashed yesterday were several peaceful protesters were killed by trigger happy policemen, Tinubu has refused to address Nigerians or show genuine concern to the plight of Nigerians. If Nigerians truly want this country to progress, the number one demand for the nationwide protest should be to push for an end to this bad government…. Nigerians have a golden opportunity to move this country forward through this protest by uniting and capitalize on the momentum of this protest and push for a lasting solution to the nation’s problems….
It was unfortunate that many Igbo people yesterday decided to play tribal politics by not joining other well meaning Nigerians to protest…. obviously this decision was taken due to a widespread propaganda against them, it is true that collectively Igbos have been targeted continually by hateful propaganda perpetrated by malicious government agents and Nigerians, this was evident especially during the last election but two wrongs don’t make a right, the economic crisis facing Nigerians knows no tribe or religion as it is been felt by everyone, the Igbos even though many of them no longer want to be part of Nigeria should know that they can’t actualize their dream of a Nigerian Igbo president, Biafra or a referendum without the support of other tribes in Nigeria. This is not the time to push blames, it is a time to build bridges and show solidarity with other Nigerians. It will be detrimental for Igbos if they fail to sympathize with other Nigerians by continuing to play the holier than thou politics while the country burns over bad governance…. Above all, I hope that Nigerians whether north or south can look beyond their corrupt tendencies of collecting bribe and staging pro-government sponsored violent protests against peaceful protesters, I hope Nigerians can overcome their selfish tribalistic ways of sabotaging each other and come together to free the country from this cruel government and their political oppressors….
Some of you born yesterday don't know what is called power. First, find the meaning of GCFR , the power he has supercedes the nonsense protest you are doing, he was brought in by ballot and can only be removed by ballot says the constitution. Just because most of you are educated illiterate won't make us just sit down and look at you wallow in your ignorance.
Even, historically how many African presidents have resigned talk less of spending only one year on sit.
Most of our youth are sick upstairs, evident from what comes out of their brains.
People like this are envious of ibo people living in Lagos and coming home every Xmas to snacth their girlfriend. They want lagosian to chase them but we love Igbo people in Lagos.
Funkyswagzz: Once the north keep coming out then give Niger Delta and southeast signal to come out, southwest can go to bed. I swear with my mother's life the federal government will listen to our demands.
In your dreams, nothing is changing, better go back to farm
This was a big blow to Peter Obi's supporters who insist Tinubu didnt win the election.
A mandate thief appealing to the mandate holder.
I think Nigerians are the most stupid people on earth, before the protest the president appeals to Nigerians to reconsider and not protest. They eventually went ahead but they now want to the president again to come out to address them......to do what? to stop ...they should continue naa.
sebi their hunger don stop after the two days protest
Ddeliverer007: By the time fuel returns to #200 and exchange rate comes crashing; I hope these sons of devils that are against the protest will thank us for demanding good leadership!!!
God1000: The protest will continue untill the president accede to our demands and reverse all his bad policies affecting the Nigerian people, I sympathize with the family of police officer that was killed today, I also condemn and sympathize with the families of all the protesters that died today.
The police, army and other security agencies should know that this protest will benefit them and their families too, so they should not kill protesters that are demanding for good governance.
You are very stupid people like you will be traced and apprehended, you stay in the comfort of you pathetic home and fuel violence why not come out and join the protest so that you can be killed.
Kushites: Nigerian military chiefs will be looking at the ongoing protests with great alarm, as reported gunshots have taken place on just the first day of a 10 day national protest.
As the last guarantor of Nigeria’s territorial integrity, the military will be watching these events very closely indeed.
Could some rebellious colonels decide enough is enough?
Or even some generals?
Could President Tinubu in the next few days be overthrown in a MILITARY COUP?
Shut up you hungry, misbegotten twerp of contested paternity. If not for the accident of your horrible birth , the endemic hunger and unending poverty of your lineage you won't be out here defending your perpetual oppressors for only a few dollars.
Run along your dirty, breathing , walking unfortunate UNICEF avatar.
Danisaint112: Residents of Mararaba, masaka, ado, New Nyanya has started joining the protest in just day one. Scary thing is some of those boys are smoking the teargas and throwing it back at to the police.
Nigerians protesting; while excising your right please know your enemies. The masses are not your enemy so don't inflict more hardship on them.
My fear, those that are killed will be forgotten in less than a month, their family will grief , no compensation from government, most people on nairaland supporting the protest are in their houses chatting on phone.
Throwback: Nigerians were well aware that the Buhari regime had planned for any funding of dubsidy to stop by end of June 2923. The top candidates all came out to support the removal of subsidy. Some even claimed they will remove it on the very 1st day in office.
Perennial presidential candidate and former student leader and publisher of Sahara Reporters, Omoyele Sowore of the AAC, vowed that if voted into office, he would not remove subsidy.
The North did not vote for him. The SouthWest did not vote for him. The SouthSouth did not vote for him. The SouthEast did not vote for him.
He only managed above 14,000 votes in the presidential election.
No reputable local or foreign democracy organisations recognize him as an opposition leader.
None of the top political parties regard him with any electoral significance.
Infact, many in the top opposition hate him for using his media outlet to expose the rot in the government when their beloved PDP was in power, as though he has not been doing the same expose' since the APC government has been in power.
So, my question is why are the masses now complaining after ignoring this candidate every election cycle, and still donating about 22 million votes to Tinubu, Atiku, and Obi, in the last presidential election where Sowore only secured about 14,000 votes?
Talk is cheap bro, activist are worst managers, Nigeria is complicated country even Donald Trump cannot succeed here.
CriminalTinubu: From the images & videos I'm seeing, Tinubu is finished. This is rejection on a huge scale by the populace especially the same ignorant section that were coerced to vote for him because he never had the learned ones on his side to begin with.
There are protests across North. Protests in Lagos, Edo & Oyo.
Only the South East abstained and Tinubu will never win in that region till he departs this world.
If elections happen today, Tinubu will lose in these states plus the South South and that will be humiliating for him.
Worse still, he may not last his full first tenure since this protest is scheduled for 10 whole days.
Things will surely escalate.
One move that could destroy Tinubu very early is if the masterminds of this protest start impeachment moves. It will be disastrous. The Senate is already silently divided thanks to Akpabio and they can start by getting rid of Akpabio by the end of the second year. If successful, it will leave Tinubu vulnerable and constantly battling the Senate up until 2027 even though he won't be removed.
The Northern APC bloc can also destabilize the party by pulling out thus making CPC the majority politically especially if they take the non-Yoruba Southern APC men with them.
As it stands, Tinubu has lost all his Northern votes and a candidate like Atiku or Peter Obi (if he is strategic enough) can take advantage of this situation. I fear it may be Atiku since Peter Obi lacks any real pull up North.
Without backing from the entire North, no strong Middle Belt allies, zero SE support, zero SS political backing and divided South Western votes, Tinubu can as well kiss re-election goodbye.
Thank you.

Better use your data for better things and channel your energy towards what will help you.
Are you not tired of being fullish and posting trash. Is there protest now or not? This is day one. It's not over yet. After 9 days, you will understand Nigerians aren't foolish people.
Idiots, no government will allow protest to go on for 10 days. By tomorrow they will start picking them small small as scapegoat.
EyeCumInPiss: Tinubu should just open his mouth and say "Subsidy is Gone Back" and the protests will end. Nigeria is rich enough to subsidise fuel at ₦200 per litre.
Then slash into half all salaries and allowances of Senators, House of Reps, Govs, and all top Govt officials and cut down on Govt wastages. Then scrap either Senate or House of Rep. Then scrap all those many unproductive Govt agencies. Then scrap all those many useless SA's and PA's. ...
If you check very well is hate that is your problem.
