Congratulations to Team Brazil, and to Timmy Hansen and Leva Millere-Hagin, for a well-deserved victory after an exciting weekend of racing on our waters at the E1 Lagos GP

Beyond the competition, the E1 Lagos GP represented our city’s commitment to innovation, clean energy, and sustainable development. It was inspiring to see Lagos take its place on the global stage as a city that embraces progress and possibility.

I am proud of what we achieved this weekend and even more confident about the future we are building for Lagos.

PoliticsIs Peter Obi An Anarchist?: When Bigotry Goes Too Far - Speaker Abbas' Aide by Lanrelagboi(op): 8:52am On Oct 02, 2025
IS PETER OBI AN ANARCHIST? - WHEN BIGOTRY GOES TOO FAR

By Olabamiji Enitan Jowosimi SA, New Media To The Speaker Of The House Of Reps, Tajudeen Abbass

- The government demolished about 2,300 shops, including 5 plazas in Fegge, Onitsha. Peter Obi was perhaps not in town to marshal an army of “activists” to storm the streets in protest.

18TH OF AUGUST, 2024 - ABIA

- The Abia State government leveled hundreds of structures on Government College, Umuahia land, in what was its second phase of demolition within the same year. Peter Obi, perhaps bedridden, could not summon his battalion of “patriots” to confront the state.

7TH OF FEBRUARY, 2025 - ANAMBRA

- The Anambra State government once again pulled down swathes of buildings in Onitsha (Nkisi area and neighboring localities), including massive structures straddling a canal path in Enekwasumpu. Peter Obi, perhaps on self-imposed exile, and unable to assemble his “advocates” to lift a placard.

14TH OF JULY, 2025 - IMO

- The Imo State government demolished a state-of-the-art, ₦2.2 Billion commercial plaza at Naze Junction, Owerri North. Peter Obi, perhaps “menstruating, could not summon the energy to rally his self-acclaimed “unionists” against the bulldozers.

I lay out these chronicles for one reason: to establish the truth that:

1. Routine demolitions are not peculiar to Lagos. They are neither strange nor unprecedented. Governments wield the wrecking ball for many reasons, chiefly when structures violate laws or encroach on public utility. Above are sufficient examples of such activities even in Peter's backyard.

2. Peter Obi himself has worn the glove of demolition. As governor, he supervised the pulling down of buildings - structures that may well have belonged to people of diverse ethnic stocks - and he likely had sound justifications for doing so. Yet the earth did not quake, no kinsman raised a war cry, no ethnic card was played.

So, again, I ask: Why Lagos? Why now? Why the tribal trumpet when silence was golden elsewhere?

3. Suppose, for the sake of argument, Obi was right to be displeased. Then what should a true leader have done? Lead a balanced delegation - Igbo, Yoruba, Hausa, all united - to the Governor’s table or the appropriate Commissioner. Demand clarity. Seek justification with dignity. That is the way of statesmen.

But no! Not Fraud Ibn 3rd, he must play the minstrel of division, fanning embers of anarchy, dancing to the drumbeat of bigotry. For if he does not pander, who will?

Now, Behold the Irony: IPOB terrorizes the Southeast, bleeding the land, grounding commerce, and forcing Peter’s own kinsmen to abandon Mondays - the very liver of trade. Yet in such grave crises, Obi is silent. Why mute when his people bleed, but loud when there is an ethnic card to play? Why neglect his own, only to parade them when it suits a divisive agenda? Obi hates Ndigbo, I stand so convinced.

He marched into Yoruba land with a flood of Igbos, as though staging an invasion. No! That is not politics. That is provocation. In ages past, kingdoms unsheathed swords for lesser affronts.

In conclusion,

Dear Sir, you are not the first presidential candidate to lose an election, and you will not be the last. A sitting president once lost, yet rapture didn't descend. Should you run again, defeat will surely again embrace thee, yet our manhood will not lose its ability to rise.

As GEJ declared, “My ambition is not worth the blood of any Nigerian.” And let me declare to you: Your ambition is not worth the sweat of any trader, the tears of any mother, nor the burning of any city (delete that - 'the burning of yoruba land').

This is my verdict - Our Verdict. You stand warned.

Good Morning 3rdly and Severally...

Shall I Begin?

Lagos State Domestic And Sexual Violence Agency Celebrates 4-Year Anniversary
From a modest beginning in 2014, what started as a Response Team with just one coordinator and two volunteers, driven by passion and urgency, has grown into a beacon of hope and resilience for countless survivors across Lagos State and indeed, Nigeria

On the 20th of September 2021, history was made when the Lagos State House of Assembly passed the Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency Law. With the approval of this law, the Agency was formally established as a statutory institution - the first of its kind in Nigeria - dedicated to preventing, advocating, and responding to issues of Domestic and Sexual Violence. This milestone marked the birth of a fully fledged Agency, united by a shared vision to safeguard dignity and protect lives.

Today, as we celebrate four years of becoming a statutory Agency, we look back with gratitude and we look forward with renewed commitment. We celebrate the lives saved, the survivors empowered, and the voices that have grown stronger because of this work.

More importantly, we recommit to ensuring that Lagos State remains a place where every individual can live free from violence, fear, and intimidation.

SportsLagos To Host First E1 GP Tournament In Africa by Lanrelagboi(op): 8:18am On Sep 15, 2025
Lagos has officially been confirmed as the first African city to host the Electric 1 Grand Prix (E1 GP), the world’s first all-electric powerboat racing series, in October 2025.

The historic announcement positions Nigeria’s commercial hub alongside global destinations like Monaco, Venice, and Jeddah, solidifying Lagos’ reputation as a burgeoning force in international sports and sustainable innovation.

A new frontier in racing
Launched in 2020 by Alejandro Agag, founder of Formula E and Extreme E, and Rodi Basso, a former Formula 1 engineer, the E1 GP is designed to revolutionise marine mobility. The championship features futuristic electric RaceBird boats, engineered for high-speed, zero-emission competition on water.

Backed by global icons including Rafael Nadal, Tom Brady, Didier Drogba, and Sergio Pérez, the series blends world-class sport with advocacy for clean energy, marine conservation, and innovation.

Why Lagos matters
Hosting the E1 GP is a defining milestone for Lagos, reflecting the series’ commitment to inclusivity and global expansion. Beyond sport, the event will transform Lagos’ waterfront into a global stage for culture, technology, and business.

The economic impact is expected to be significant:
Tourism: Thousands of visitors will boost Lagos’ hospitality, entertainment, and creative sectors, while global broadcast coverage will showcase the city to millions.

Job Creation and Local Business Growth: Vendors, artisans, logistics firms, and hospitality providers stand to benefit directly.

Innovation and Technology Transfer: The event highlights cutting-edge electric propulsion systems, creating opportunities for clean energy partnerships, e-mobility solutions, and smart city projects.

Environmental Advocacy: E1 GP will work with local NGOs on marine conservation, waterway clean-ups, and ecosystem restoration.

Youth Engagement: Educational programs and outreach will inspire Nigeria’s next generation of engineers, innovators, and athletes.

“Lagos is the heartbeat of Africa”
E1 CEO Rodi Basso described Lagos as a natural choice for the series’ African debut.

“Lagos is more than just a host city; it is the heartbeat of Africa’s innovation, energy, and resilience. Bringing E1 here is not only about racing; it’s about creating a new legacy of clean technology, sustainability, and opportunity for the next generation.”

“When the RaceBird boats hit Lagos’ waterways in October 2025, the city won’t just be hosting a race, it will be racing into a future defined by innovation, sustainability, and economic opportunity.”

Government backing and vision
Representing Lagos State, Deputy Chief of Staff Samuel Egube, Commissioner for Tourism Toke Benson-Awoyinka, and Commissioner for Transportation Seun Osiyemi emphasised that the E1 Lagos GP is more than sport; it is a global statement of inclusivity, creativity, and excellence.

Teksight Edge takes the lead
The Local Organising Committee (LOC) has appointed Teksight Edge as the exclusive concessionaire for sponsorship, media rights, and digital assets.

“E1 Lagos is more than a GP; it is a declaration of Africa’s readiness to deliver world-class experiences with global impact,” said Charles Edosomwan, Lead Strategist at Teksight Edge.

Star power on the water
The E1 Lagos GP will feature celebrity-owned teams led by icons such as Didier Drogba, Rafael Nadal, Tom Brady, and Virat Kohli, racing in 100% electric RaceBird boats. Global stars including LeBron James and Will Smith are also backing the series, further elevating its profile.

A cultural and sporting spectacle
As the only African stop on the calendar, Lagos promises a blend of sport, culture, and sustainability. The championship is expected to boost tourism, create jobs, and highlight Nigeria as a hub for clean technology innovation.

With the countdown underway, Lagos is preparing to welcome the world to its waters for a defining moment in Africa’s sporting and cultural evolution.

PRESS RELEASE

LASG RESUMES SECOND PHASE OF OGUDU–IFAKO BRIDGE REPAIRS AFTER REVIEW OF TRAFFIC MANAGEMENT PLAN

The Lagos State Government has announced the resumption of the second phase of repair works on the Ogudu–Ifako Bridge (inbound Island), scheduled to commence on Wednesday, 3rd September, 2025.

To mitigate the gridlock experienced during the earlier phase of repairs, the traffic management plan has been thoroughly reviewed, with renewed efforts to ensure completion within the shortest possible time.

Traffic Advisory

Inbound Oshodi/Victoria Island from Lagos–Ibadan Expressway/Lagos Toll Gate:

Traffic will generally remain free-flowing along this route. However, near the work zone on the Ogudu–Ifako Bridge, vehicles will be diverted into one lane of the three-lane carriageway approximately 50 metres before the repair area and will regain full access 50 metres afterwards.

Motorists heading to Oshodi may also use the Ojota Slip Road to connect to Ikorodu Road (inward Anthony, by Taxi Park) to access Oshodi.

Motorists heading to Victoria Island can use the Ojota Slip Road to link Ikorodu Road (inward Anthony, by Town Planning Way), then proceed to Gbagada to access the Third Mainland Bridge (inbound Lagos Island). Alternatively, they may continue along Ikorodu Road towards Funsho Williams Avenue and use Eko Bridge.

Inbound Oshodi/Victoria Island from Ikeja and Environs:

Motorists from Ikeja and nearby areas are advised to proceed through Maryland to connect Ikorodu Road/Funsho Williams Avenue, and then use Eko Bridge to Outer Marina en route to their destinations.

They may also connect Ikorodu Road (by Taxi Park, Anthony) to access Oshodi and continue their journey.

The Commissioner for Transportation, Mr. Oluwaseun Osiyemi, explained that the reviewed traffic management plan was designed to strengthen coordination along the corridor during the resumption of works. He appealed to motorists to cooperate with Traffic Management Officers, maintain lane discipline, and make use of the provided alternative routes.

ADVISORY: The partial closure of the bridge is a necessary part of the maintenance programme. Motorists are therefore urged to be patient and bear with the temporary inconvenience in the interest of improved road infrastructure. PoliticsLagos State Government Trains BRT Drivers On Road Safety by Lanrelagboi(op): 7:55am On Aug 25, 2025
Lagos State Safety Commission (LSC) in conjunction with Lagos Bus Service Limited (LBSL) has organized a comprehensive training programme for drivers of the Lagos Bus Service Limited (LBSL), popularly known as BRT Captains.

The training, held at the LBSL headquarters in Oshodi, Lagos, was themed “The Mind Behind the Wheel” focused on improving drivers’ knowledge of road safety practices, emergency response, and accident-prevention mechanisms.

Declaring the programme open, the Director-General of the Safety Commission, Mr. Lanre Mojola, noted that global reports and local statistics consistently show that over 75 percent of road accidents are caused by human error. He emphasized that continuous training, awareness, and attitude change remain the most effective strategies to reduce crashes and save lives.

“Every driver here must consider themselves fortunate to participate in this training,” Mojola said. “The knowledge and skills you are receiving today will not only make you safer behind the wheel but will also protect millions of Lagosians who rely on the BRT system for daily commuting. This is part of the Commission’s commitment to reducing road crashes in line with Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s THEMES-Plus agenda, particularly its transportation and traffic management pillar.”

The DG revealed that over five million have benefitted from similar safety trainings all over the world, with encouraging feedback from both commuters and drivers.

He expressed optimism that the BRT-focused programme would further entrench global best practices in the State’s public transport sector.

Also speaking, the Managing Director/CEO of LBSL, Mr. Idowu Oguntona, described the initiative as a demonstration of government’s commitment to safe mobility in a densely populated city like Lagos. He disclosed that the BRT system has so far moved more than 60 million passengers across different routes in the State, maintaining an impressive safety record.

“Transportation is the lifeblood of a megacity like Lagos,” Oguntona said. “As an agency, we are committed to continuously upgrading our drivers’ capacity, because they carry the responsibility of millions of lives daily. This training gives them the tools to remain vigilant, disciplined, and professional in service delivery.”

In a goodwill message, the representative of the Managing Director of the Lagos Metropolitan Area Transport Authority (LAMATA), Mr. Poju Fowokan, commended the initiative and urged drivers to take personal responsibility for their actions on the road. He described LBSL as a model of efficient urban transport and charged the agency not to relent in sustaining the high standards expected of the BRT system.

The training sessions, anchored by MTC Consult, featured expert-led modules on causes of accidents, human psychology in driving, first-aid response, stress management, and modern traffic safety strategies.

Participants were also taken through practical case studies and scenario-based exercises to sharpen their reflexes in real-time traffic situations.

At the end of the programme, participants expressed appreciation to the Lagos State Government for investing in their professional development, pledging to apply the knowledge gained in their daily operations to ensure safer roads for all users.

Today, the First Lady, Her Excellency Senator Oluremi Tinubu, through the Renewed Hope Initiative, empowered 1,000 women and persons living with disabilities by providing them with the tools they need to build sustainable businesses and better lives.

Her Excellency’s commitment to uplifting women stems from her belief that women are central to the progress of any society. Here in Lagos, we share this conviction, which is why we supported the programme by contributing an additional 500 empowerment items to ensure that more women could benefit.

To the beneficiaries, I urge you to use these gifts wisely, grow your businesses, and in doing so, grow the wealth of your families and of Lagos.

This factory will create 10,000 direct jobs and benefit more than 150,000 artisans across Lagos. It is equipped to produce shoes, bags, belts, and other products at a scale that small businesses could not achieve on their own.

Our hides and skins will no longer leave Nigeria unprocessed. They will be transformed here into shoes, bags, belts, and garments proudly stamped ‘Made in Lagos, Made in Nigeria’. With time, this hub is expected to generate over $250 million in export earnings every year.

But for me, the true success will be measured by the cobbler in Mushin who earns more for his craft, the tanner in Oko-Oba who now has steady work, and the young designer in Yaba who can finally take her brand to the world.

This is the promise of Lagos, the promise of opportunities that uplift households and strengthen our economy.

PoliticsLagos Government Unveils Cultural Weekend To Scale Up Investment Drive by Lanrelagboi(op): 5:50am On Aug 19, 2025
In a dynamic stride to spotlight its vibrant cultural heritage and energize its creative economy, the Lagos State Government has officially announced the Lagos Cultural Weekend 2025, a three-day cultural celebration designed to elevate tourism, foster investment, and deepen the world’s appreciation for its traditions.

Slated for November 14th to 16th, the festival will unfold across several iconic locations, including the J. Randle Centre for Yoruba Culture and History, Freedom Park, National Theatre, Badagry Heritage Museum, Lekki Arts and Crafts Market, and Tafawa Balewa Square.

Each venue, according to the Special Adviser to the Governor on Tourism, Arts, and Culture, Idris Aregbe, will play host to immersive experiences that blend the past and present, highlighting Lagos as a city of heritage, innovation, and artistic expression.

Aregbe, who disclosed this while addressing the pressmen yesterday, described the event as a “cultural baptism” — a compelling, sensory journey into the identity of Lagos.

“We aim to use the Lagos Cultural Weekend as a true reflection of Lagos culture, a horoscope for tourists and visitors from across the globe to witness just how rich our culture is”.

He stressed that the Lagos Cultural Weekend is not just another festival. It is a cornerstone of the Lagos Cultural Mission, a long-term initiative of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s administration aimed at redefining the role of culture in economic development.

Aregbe added that this cultural renaissance is about more than entertainment — it’s a deliberate investment in people.

“This is about empowering cultural artisans, creatives, historians, and all stakeholders who bring our traditions to life. It’s about enabling them to be part of a thriving ecosystem,” he said.

The state government, he noted, is committed to building inclusive partnerships, welcoming collaboration from community leaders, traditional institutions, and culture bearers who hold the keys to authentic representation.

While describing the 72 hours as one that will give attendees unforgettable experience, the Special Adviser stated that attendees should expect a rich blend of music, dance, fashion, cuisine, and storytelling, brought to life through:

“During this three days, there will be live musical performances by indigenous and contemporary artists to ensure a beautiful atmosphere.

“Aside from that, there will be Do It Yourself workshops and hands-on art sessions, fashion shows featuring traditional and modern African designs and culinary tastings of regional delicacies.

“Also included in these three days are traditional dance and masquerades showcasing different skills, while local artisans showcase their crafts to guests.

“Understanding that language is key, there will be cultural lectures and symposiums on language, folklore, and identity.

“Each activity is crafted to offer both locals and international visitors a chance to interact with culture, not just observe it. From the historic town of Badagry, known for its role in the transatlantic slave trade, to the bustling Lekki Arts and Crafts Market, the experience will be both educational and deeply emotional.

With Lagos already established as a powerhouse in music, film, and fashion, Aregbe stressed that the Lagos Cultural Weekend aims to extend that influence further by positioning the city as Africa’s cultural capital.

Through corporate sponsorships, strategic partnerships, and grassroots involvement, the event will set a new precedent for cultural programming not only in Nigeria but across the continent.

“We want every visitor to leave Lagos not just entertained, but transformed — to carry home the essence of our stories, our people, and our identity,” Mr. Aregbe affirmed.

As the world continues to rediscover the power of culture in building bridges and economies, Lagos Cultural Weekend 2025 stands as a bold, innovative example of how a city can celebrate its roots while looking confidently toward the future.

PoliticsLagos APC Responds To Aregebesola's Statements During ADC Membership Drive by Lanrelagboi(op): 6:37am On Aug 14, 2025
LAGOS APC RESPONSE TO AREGBESOLA’S ANTI-APC STATEMENTS DURING ADC MEMBERSHIP DRIVE

The attention of the Lagos State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has been drawn to recent statements credited to the former Minister of Interior, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, during a political gathering organized by the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Kosofe Local Government Area of Lagos.

In his remarks, Ogbeni Aregbesola, who once served under the APC-led Federal Government, attempted to cast aspersions on the same platform that gave him national prominence, alleging that the APC, alongside other major political parties, has failed Nigerians. He went further to campaign for the ADC ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Let it be known that the APC in Lagos views Aregbesola’s comments as not only disappointing but also a betrayal of trust and values he once professed under our party. His utterances reek of political desperation and opportunism, masquerading under the guise of a “new deal” that lacks substance, structure, or credibility.

1. On Aregbesola’s Claims of APC Failure:
It is ironic that a man who enjoyed the goodwill and political platform of the APC for over two decades—from his days as Commissioner in Lagos to becoming Governor of Osun State and later a Federal Minister—can now publicly denounce the same party. If APC has failed, then Ogbeni Aregbesola must take responsibility for his own role in governance, rather than seeking to rewrite history and distance himself for cheap political relevance.

2. On the Alleged “New Deal” by ADC:
The so-called “new deal” offered by the ADC is nothing more than recycled rhetoric. Nigerians are not swayed by fanfare or emotional songs at political rallies. The electorate is more discerning today and will not entrust the future of this country to a party without a proven track record, solid ideology, or cohesive leadership.

3. Lagos APC’s Record:
Lagos remains a shining example of progressive governance under the APC. From infrastructure to healthcare, education, youth empowerment, and technology-driven reforms, the state continues to set the pace nationally. No amount of political grandstanding can erase this reality.

4. Loyalty and Integrity in Politics:
While individuals are free to pursue their political ambitions, it is expected that they do so with integrity and decorum. Lagos APC is not threatened by theatrics or sudden political conversions. However, we remind Aregbesola and his allies that politics without loyalty and gratitude is a dangerous path that leads to irrelevance.

5. Looking Ahead to 2027:
The APC in Lagos remains united, focused, and determined to continue delivering dividends of democracy to our people. We welcome constructive criticism, but we reject outright falsehoods and political showmanship aimed at misleading the public.

In conclusion, while we recognize the right of every Nigerian to join any political party of their choice, we urge the public to be wary of those who jump ship only when their personal ambitions are no longer served, and who now pretend to offer solutions to problems they helped create.

We remain committed to building a greater Lagos and a stronger Nigeria.

Mogaji (Hon) Seye Oladejo.
Lagos APC Spokesman.

PoliticsLagos Rolls Out Digital House Numbering System by Lanrelagboi(op): 6:45am On Aug 13, 2025
•It'll revolutionise property identification, says Sanwo-Olu

•Minister, experts reiterate commitment to unlocking economic power of land in Nigeria

The Lagos State Government on Tuesday unveiled the pilot phase of its innovative "Identifier" project, a comprehensive digital addressing system designed to streamline geographic house numbering and street naming across the State.

The project, which will kick off in Ikeja, the state capital, next week, was unveiled by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu at the sideline of the Nigeria Land Titling, Registration and Documentation Programme (NLTRDP) organised by the Lagos State Office of Electronic Geographic Information System (e-GIS) and Urban Development in collaboration with the Federal Ministry of Housing and Urban Development, at Victoria Island.

The digital house numbering system, a sophisticated approach designed to allocate a unique digital identity to each building throughout Lagos State, will play a crucial role in facilitating seamless navigation for emergency responders, utility personnel, and local residents, thereby enhancing the overall efficiency and effectiveness of service delivery.

Speaking during the display of the house numbering plates, Governor Sanwo-Olu said the project is aimed at providing a unique digital identity to every property, enhancing navigation, service delivery, and overall urban management.

He said: "Lagos digital house numbering system is a novel idea. It is about technology, and that is one of the things that we are trying to achieve: using technology as a strong enabler to be able to resolve all our land issues, where from the comfort of your house you can access and resolve land title issues.

"It is still a journey, and we are not there yet, but this digital house numbering system is really more about ensuring that if you can get the address of a property, all the information that is needed on that property can be accessed, and people will see it."

Speaking about the Nigeria Land Titling, Registration and Documentation Programme, Governor Sanwo-Olu commended the Federal Government for the Renewed Hope Agenda initiative to unlock the economic power of land.

Governor Sanwo-Olu said electronic land documentation is the only way forward to reduce physical interference and build a future where land rights are secured.

Also speaking, the Special Adviser to the Governor on e-GIS and Urban Development, Dr Olajide Babatunde, said Lagos State Government is committed to the project embedded with QR codes and local government-specific colour codes for easy identification.

He said the digital house numbering system project is a significant step towards modernising Lagos' infrastructure and improving the quality of life for its residents.

Dr Babatunde said with the successful implementation of the "Identifier project", Lagos State expects to see improvements in security, revenue generation, and overall efficiency in service delivery.

He said: "House numbering and documentation has to do with ownership. So one of the byproducts of titling and documentation in land administration is also house numbering and digital addressing systems. So this is a digital addressing system.

"The digital house numbering is part of technology, and at the back end, we have all the information that we can share with the public. You can scan the QR code to get the information about a land, particularly bills and some other important information that we may need to know whether a building has an approval or not. We are now in the age of technology. We need to embrace technology."

Speaking earlier, the Minister of Housing and Urban Development, Arc. Ahmed Dangiwa, announced plans to improve land title to 50 per cent in the next 10 years as part of the efforts being put in place to unlock the economic power of land in Nigeria.

He said the initiative is aimed at modernising land administration and making land a viable asset for wealth creation, house delivery and inclusive growth, noting that states will retain full control over land administration.

According to the Minister of Housing and Urban Development, over 97 per cent of land in Nigeria is not formally titled, limiting its use as collateral for loans and its value in property transactions.

He noted that with this initiative, all other states can now commence digitisation of land registries, integrate geographic information systems and adopt global best practices which have already been implemented in Lagos State.

PoliticsLagos Warns Against Attacking Parking Officials, Pledges Strict Action by Lanrelagboi(op): 7:15am On Aug 09, 2025
LASPA VOWS TO PROSECUTE OBSTRUCTION OF ITS OPERATION/ ATTACKS ON ITS OFFICIALS

The Lagos State Parking Authority has said that it will not hesitate to invoke the full wrath of the law on anyone or group of individuals trying to obstruct its operations in the state.

The announcement comes in the wake of incidents of unwarranted assaults on LASPA officials during routine parking compliance checks.

In a statement made available on Friday, LASPA General Manager Mrs. Adebisi Adelabu condemned the attacks on officials by some staff and security personnel of Better Mart on Badore Road, off Addo Road, Ajah, and Ashley Mall in Epe.

Adelabu described the attacks as “illegal and unacceptable,” stressing that “the Parking Authority will stop at nothing to ensure that the individuals and organisations responsible for the attacks on its officers are brought to book.”

She emphasised that it is a great offence to obstruct the activities of government officials on duty, stressing that it is an even greater offense to attack and beat up state officials carrying out their statutory assignments.

According to her, the incident represents a serious breach of protocol and an unlawful obstruction of government officials in the execution of their duties.

In her words, “LASPA strongly condemns any form of violence or intimidation directed at its personnel and reaffirms its commitment to lawful enforcement and public safety”.

She further noted that the State Parking Authority will not hesitate to prosecute any one or group of people responsible for the attacks on its officials during their statutory assignments.

”LASPA is resolute in the actualisation of its mandate to ensure strict compliance with the State Traffic Regulations and would not be intimidated by anyone”, she stated.

Politics5,300 Lagosians Graduate From Lagos Skill Acquisition Programme by Lanrelagboi(op): 7:16am On Aug 08, 2025
Today, over 5,300 Lagosians graduated from our State’s skill acquisition programme.

This achievement marks the beginning of a new chapter for the graduates. They now hold practical skills in areas such as fashion design, welding, carpentry, cosmetology, and more. They’ve put in the work, and now they’re equipped to take the next step toward independence.

But as I reminded them, skill alone is not enough. Discipline, perseverance, and integrity are just as important. These qualities will shape how far they go and how well they sustain what they’ve built.

Our administration is committed to creating opportunities, and we will continue to invest in programmes like this. But the real value lies in how these opportunities are used. Some graduates will start small businesses, while others will expand what they’ve already begun. Each one now has the tools and the responsibility to create something meaningful for themselves and for others.

The journey ahead won’t always be easy, but I believe in their potential. Many global businesses began with a single skill and a clear purpose. There is no reason our own success stories can’t start right here in Lagos.

I congratulate all the graduates. Make this count, not just for today, but for the future you’re building.

PoliticsSanwo-Olu Commissions 20km Road Network In Badagry by Lanrelagboi(op): 5:49am On Aug 07, 2025
Today, Governor of Lagos State, Mr @jidesanwoolu commissioned about 20km network of roads constructed by the Lagos State Government in Badagry Local Government Area

The roads projects are:

Aradagun/Mosafejo road

Ilado/Imeke road

Samuel Ekundayo/Toga road

Hospital road
https://x.com/Mr_JAGs/status/1953160811863478427?t=4wPKEKHf30ABNbjjPiVugw&s=19

Today, we commissioned seven completed road projects across more than eight communities in Badagry Local Government and Olorunda LCDA.

These roads, spanning over 16 km, are lifelines that connect residents to markets, schools, health centres, and cultural heritage sites.

One standout project is the Samuel Ekundayo-Toga Road, which we have expanded from a single lane to a dual carriageway with proper drainage. It now provides easier access to the Lagos-Badagry Expressway and helps ease congestion around Limca, Ibereko, and the Badagry Roundabout.

We also upgraded Hospital Road, improving access to major landmarks such as the Agbalata Market, Nigeria’s First Storey Building, the Heritage Museum, and other historic sites that define Badagry’s rich legacy.

Badagry holds deep economic and cultural significance not just for Lagos, but for Nigeria. As a gateway to five West African countries, it has the potential to become a major hub for tourism and cross-border trade.

Our goal is simple: no part of Lagos should feel left behind. We are pushing development deeper into our communities and not just the city centres.

I understand that some areas, including Oko Afo, Ilogbo, Eremi, and Pota, are still waiting. Work is ongoing, and I appreciate the patience of the residents. We are committed to seeing it through.

Good infrastructure goes beyond roads and bridges. It creates access, opens up opportunity, and gives communities a stronger foundation to grow.

Badagry, this is just the beginning.

Lagos to link Sangotedo with Ito-Omu creek

Lagos State Government has embarked on a road and bridge project which will link Sangotedo in Eti Osa with Ito-Omu creek in Ibeju Lekki and Epe.

The Special Adviser to Gov. Babajide Sanwo-Olu on Infrastructure, Mr Olufemi Daramola, gave the assurance on Saturday, during an inspection of some projects across the state.

”Today, we are at the Omu Creek Road which is one of the strategic projects that is ongoing.

“It is a road of about five kilometres and about 600 metres bridge.

”It is about 1.1 kilometres from the Lekki-Epe Express Road. What we have witnessed today is really a big progress, there has been a lot of soil reclamation, a lot of soil replacement has gone on.

”We will be able to get to the point where the bridge work will start, a lot of soil investigation is going on, the progress is very commendable,” he said.

The special adviser also inspected the Ketu Alapere Pedestrian Bridge reconstruction.

Daramola said that the project would be completed in few months.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the bridge, which was constructed 11 years ago, was damaged by impact of a container-laden truck which attempted to manoeuvre under the bridge.

“Reconstruction of the damaged Alapere Pedestrian Bridge is ongoing.

There was a lot of work on the alignment. The Federal Government was working on the Third Mainland Bridge, and we had to synchronise the work.

”There is good progress, the foundation is done, the cast elements are all being set, the headroom will be improved, and in another couple of months – two, three months – I am sure that the project will be completed,” he said.

Daramola also said that the state government had embarked on rehabilitation of some link roads in the Ikoyi axis.

“The state government is also working on a network of roads in Ikoyi, Abayomi, MacPherson, Ilabere. Site visit shows that there is improvement.

“Contractors are on site, and we are having good milage.

Located within the rapidly developing Lekki-Epe corridor, this project is not just about crossing a body of water — it’s about connecting people, unlocking farmlands, and laying the foundation for rural-urban integration. From deep piling works over swampy terrain to road access carved through untouched communities, we show you how this bridge is reshaping access between Epe and Ibeju-Lekki.

PoliticsLagos Marks 2025 World Drowning Prevention Day With Public Awareness Campaign by Lanrelagboi(op): 6:56am On Jul 28, 2025
Lagos Marks 2025 World Drowning Prevention Day With Public Awareness Campaign
In commemoration of the 2025 World Drowning Prevention Day, the Lagos State Safety Commission over the weekend hosted a comprehensive awareness programme aimed at curbing incidents of drowning across the state.

The event, organized and sponsored by the Commission, drew a diverse audience including students, boat owners, marine engineers, boat operators, fishermen, politicians, community leaders, religious figures, market traders, civil servants, and members of the public.

Speaking at the event, the Director-General of the Lagos State Safety Commission, Mr. Lanre Mojola, stated that the programme aligns with the objectives of World Drowning Prevention Day, declared by the United Nations General Assembly in April 2021 and observed annually on July 25. He emphasized the urgent need for collective action to tackle the global drowning crisis.

Quoting data from the World Health Organization (WHO), Mojola revealed that over 236,000 lives are lost to drowning annually, with 82,000 of the victims being children aged between one and 14 years. He noted that drowning remains the third leading cause of unintentional injury-related deaths worldwide, accounting for about 7% of such fatalities.

The statistics are alarming and call for urgent and continuous sensitization,” Mojola said. “We must equip Lagosians with the knowledge and skills needed to prevent drowning, especially in communities located near water bodies.”

He added that Lagos has made significant progress with the enactment of the 2021 Safety Commission Law and accompanying regulations on swimming pool safety, which have since been implemented. As part of continued efforts, Mojola announced the forthcoming launch of the “Community Safety Lifeguard Initiative,” which will train community members and students on lifesaving techniques and water safety protocols.

Also speaking at the event, the Lagos State Commissioner for Special Duties and Intergovernmental Agencies, Hon. Olugbenga Oyerinde—represented by the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry, Mr. Sesan Tunde Ogundeko(Mni)—affirmed the government’s commitment to making Lagos a zero-drowning zone.

“Anyone can drown, but no one should drown in Lagos,” Oyerinde declared. He called for the inclusion of compulsory swimming lessons in the state’s primary and secondary schools curriculum, stressing the importance of early education in water safety. He further recommended the installation of awareness billboards and the provision of life jackets in high-risk areas.

In his remarks, Chairman of the Lagos State House of Assembly Committee on Special Duties and Intergovernmental Relations, Hon. Olawale Age-Sulaimon, urged residents to be cautious around water, especially those without swimming abilities.

“Those who cannot swim should avoid water activities without proper training or protective gear,” Age-Sulaimon warned. “We must all prioritize learning how to swim and adhere to safety guidelines.”

The event also featured expert presentations, including a technical session led by marine engineer Dr. Wilson Arikpo, who discussed safe water-entry techniques and emergency response strategies.

The Lagos State Safety Commission reiterated its commitment to building a culture of safety through continuous public education and policy enforcement as the state grapples with the challenges of urbanization and climate-related risks along its coastlines and inland waterways.
