The only question that matters when you play national politics is "What's in it for my region?" And leverage is the only currency that players transact in. Not pity, not emotions, not insults and certainly not threats. Only leverage.

This is the most soul searching monologue I have come across in over 10 years. Now you understand, very clearly, the predicament of the Obidients. They are truly in a catch-22.
