A former Head of State, Ibrahim Babangida, has expressed confidence that Governor Ifeanyi Okowa-led convention organizing committee of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, will conduct a rancor-free and acceptable convention.

Mr. Babangida spoke on Wednesday when Mr. Okowa, accompanied by the chairman of the caretaker committee of the PDP, Ahmed Makarfi, and top officials of the party met him at his (IBB’s) country home at Minna, Niger State.

Nigerians on social media are calling on Police authorities to scrap the Special Anti-Robbery Squad, popularly known by the acronym SARS.

The call follows several incidents of brutality, abuse, and harassment reported against men of the police department.

The Nigerian Police Force Public Complaint Rapid Response Unit, PCRRU, had yesterday announced the opening of channels through which the public can report complaints about SARS.

The move by the PCRRU may be connected to the public outcry that has trailed the activities of many SARS officials in recent times.

Cross River state governor, Ben Ayade has presented a budget of N1.3 trillion for the 2018 fiscal year to the State House of Assembly for deliberation and passage.

Ayade, who presented the budget on Thursday in Calabar, said that the proposal was designed to add value to the socio-economic development and well being of the people of the state. He tagged the budget as “Budget of Kinetic Crystallisation’’ and said it was meant to crystallise what the state had achieved in the past two years of his administration.
