Crime / The Bandits Who Abducted Us Said The Government Promised Them Something by Lekannu: 2:10am On Mar 01, 2021
One of the kidnapped students of Government Science College in Kagara, Niger state has shared her experience while in captivity.

Hauwa Abdusalam who described the bandits as fearless and heartless, disclosed that the head of the bandits, Kachalla Ali swore to begin killing the men among them before the women if their demands were not met at the end of a deadline they gave.

She also disclosed that the bandits accused those in power of promising them something during election. Hauwa who recalled asking the bandits the promise the government made to them, said they told her that those in power promised them shelter, good hospitals and paying them salary, but reneged when they got into power.

The student who said her family had the highest number of kidnap victims, expressed gratitude to God for sparing her life.

Crime / Tension As A Team Of Police Officers And DSS Attempt To Arrest Yoruba Activist by Lekannu: 6:00pm On Feb 26, 2021
There was tension along the Lagos-Ibadan expressway this afternoon after a team of police officers and DSS attempted to arrest Yoruba activist, Sunday Igboho.

Igboho was said to be on his way to Lagos to see elder statesman, Ayo Adebanjo, when he was accosted by the security agents on Friday February 26.

His arrest comes weeks after he gave an eviction notice to Fulani herdsmen in the South West.

Crime / Army Arrests 6 Fake Officers In Delta Mounting Roadblock by Lekannu: 6:03pm On Feb 25, 2021
The Nigerian Army has apprehended six fake personnel who mounted a roadblock along Midwifery School Road at Okpanam General area of Asaba in Delta State.

The arrested persons are Nwokoye Chidera Emmanuel, aged 20; Nwokoye Francis, aged 24; Chigozie Arinze, aged 23; Kingsley Ndukuba, aged 32; Chidera Anichukwu, aged 21; and Mr Chinedu Akwali, aged 29.

The army stated in a release on Thursday that the alleged impostors were nabbed on Tuesday around 11pm by troops of the Operation Delta Hawk acting on an intelligence report.

During the arrest, the following items were recovered: one Mercedes Benz GL350, one Toyota Corolla with registration number ABJ 49 AA ABUJA, one Fabric Nationale bayonet and pairs of military kits from one of the suspects, Mr Chidera, who claimed to be a Cadet from Southern Maritime Academy at Ugheli, Delta State.

The suspects also confessed to have got the military kits from one Mr Hassan nicknamed, Commander.

“Meanwhile the suspects have been handed over to 63 Brigade Military Police Group for further investigation and prosecution.

“Consequently, the Brigade wishes to call on the general public and law-abiding citizens of the state to be wary of such people who parade themselves as military personnel and to report any suspicious person(s) to any nearest military formation and security agencies,” the Director, Army Public Relations, Brig Gen Mohammed Yerima, said in a release.

Crime / NAF Plane Crash: Tears As Beechcraft King Air 350 Crew Are Buried In Abuja by Lekannu: 11:25am On Feb 25, 2021
The burial ceremony of seven Airforce Officers who lost their lives on Sunday has commenced at the National Military Cemetery in Abuja.
The officers were crew members of the ill-fated Beechcraft King Air 350 that crashed at Bassa village near the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport while on a reconnaissance mission to Niger State.

A statement by the Director of Public Relations and Information of the Nigeria Airforce, Air Vice Marshal Ibikunle Daramola says the Aircraft reported engine failure shortly after take-off from Abuja and were on their way back to base when the crash occurred.

Present at the ceremony is the Minister of Defence, Bashir Magashi. Also Present are other Service Chiefs led by the Chief of Defence Staff, Major General Lucky Irabor.

The relatives of the late officers are also present at the cemetery where not an eye is left dry and the nation mourns the death of some of its finest
soldiers.
