I will always claim my freedom of speech as my own. I refuse to remain silent in exchange for patronage or a "blessing." My hands are capable, and my signature is my own. My people suffer from a lack of knowledge, but I do not lack it. Consider this: if every inventor and technologist whose creations you use today had been silenced, where would we be? Progress depends on the free expression of ideas. I am an inventor. I do not beg for help; I build with the knowledge I possess. My value as an African man, and the future of my country, is rooted in my ability to express myself through technology, research, and innovation. The day should never come where you are asked to surrender your right to breathe or to speak as a condition for someone's help. I am an inventor, not a servant. ChidiebereS: |
If the United States government is considering sanctions against Nigeria, it is crucial that they be designed with precision and humanity. Broad, blanket sanctions that target the entire nation are counterproductive. They inflict severe hardship on the ordinary Nigerian citizen the very people already suffering from a lack of security and good governance while the political class often remains insulated from the consequences. The politicians and officials in charge of our security and resources are the ones who should be held directly accountable. Therefore, I strongly advise that any potential sanctions be specifically targeted. By focusing the pressure directly on those in power, you create a compelling incentive for them to act in the nation's best interest. Sanctioning the nation as a whole only deepens the suffering of the masses without compelling change from the elite. Smart sanctions force responsibility where it belongs Great100000: |

If he wants to practice favoritism, he should do that at his own risk by creating his own private company and using his personal estate, not Nigeria’s land Under Nigerian law, land can only be revoked for public interest, such as when building a community school, hospital, road, market, or other public facility. It sounds like your friend is going through a tough time, and you're genuinely concerned about their well-being. 🤝 That's really noble of you! Firstly, kudos to you for recognizing the potential conflict of interest here. It's great that you're thinking carefully about this situation. Here's what I'd suggest: have an open and honest conversation with your friend. Let them know you value your friendship and you're willing to help, but you want to make sure they're making an informed decision. This approach shows you care about your friend's well-being and are willing to help, while also ensuring the transaction is fair and transparent. 📝 If your friend is adamant about selling and you're still interested in buying, consider getting a professional valuation of the property to ensure a fair price. You could also offer to help your friend explore other options, like a loan or financial assistance, if they're struggling to make ends meet. Ultimately, prioritize your friendship and make a decision that feels right for both of you. 🤝 |
one billion us dollars equals ₦1,436,660,000,000.00 What about the rest money dey borrowed |
So I was chilling with my guy the other day, just gisting as usual, when out of nowhere he leaned in and said: “Bro, abeg borrow me some small money, I go return am sharp-sharp.” Now, me I know this my friend. If money enter his hand, to get it back is like asking NEPA to bring light during heavy rain — very rare. And I didn’t want wahala to spoil our friendship. So I just smiled and said, “Guy, I no get oh. Things dey tight.” He gave me that look like he didn’t believe me, but he kept quiet. As we were still talking, registering for something on my phone, all of a sudden — BEEP! — loud like siren. My OPAY app just shouted: “Payment received!” I froze. My guy’s eyes lit up like Christmas tree. Ah-ahn! You no get money abi? So what is this alert I’m hearing live and direct? he asked, already stretching his neck to peep my screen. I quickly checked my settings, and guess what? The notification sound for OPAY was turned off. Completely silent. Yet, OPAY betrayed me. It went behind my back and screamed my alert out loud like town crier. At that point, my friend didn’t even need me to explain. OPAY had already testified against me in public court. Now tell me, my brother — can I sue OPAY for exposing my financial secrets like that? Because that beep nearly ended my friendship! 😂 |
The Lagos State Government has not banned okada in every part of Lagos, but rather restricted their operations on major highways and specific areas |
From Fainting to Funny: Witness Testimony Laughter Amidst Tear Gas https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wYoZuo7fD8g?si=uASk_Mug8C0XVV3J |
Good day fellow Nigerians, Lagos State is grappling with a pressing issue concerning the Lagos State Task Force's recent actions. The task force has been accused of overstepping by harassing commercial bike riders in the Ikotun area. On August 4, 2025, at approximately 2:30 PM, the task force confiscated over 50 bikes at Ile-Iwe bus stop and shot tear gas, causing a young girl to faint. These commercial bike riders, popularly known as "okada" riders, provide essential transportation services to the community, ferrying people to their homes and bus stops without driving on highways as prohibited. However, the task force's actions seem extortionate, seizing bikes and demanding money for their release without warning. This affects not just the riders but also the community, with 80% relying on these bikes for daily activities. The incident has sparked concerns about the task force's methods and the impact on families relying on these bikes for livelihood. *Key Questions:* - *Purpose of Seizure*: What's the purpose of seizing bikes if they're returned after collecting money? - *Tax Utilization*: How is the daily tax paid by bike riders being utilized? - *Livelihood Impact*: What happens to families relying on these bikes for livelihood? Taking away 50 bikes affects 50 families and potentially 250 people, considering each family has 4-5 dependents. This action has severe implications for society, causing financial suffering, loss of livelihood, and economic hardship. *Call to Action:* The government must investigate and find better ways to manage the transportation system, ensuring justice for the bike riders and the community. According to CSP Shola Jejeloye, Chairman of the Taskforce, the operation aims to restore order and protect lives on major highways and bridges where okada operations have been prohibited ¹. We need answers and justice for the bike riders and the community. Attached are testimonies from a commercial bike rider and the owner of the store where the girl collapsed, providing firsthand accounts of the incident. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5O_HKVsAMRs?feature=shared Story covered by Olaide Olurinde Writing by The Unchained. |
At Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, not too long ago, the legendary Fuji musician K-1 De Ultimate was reported to have had a heated encounter with airport officials. Words were exchanged, tempers flared, yet at the end of it all… no prison cell, no remand order — just an apology sent to him later. Life went on. Fast forward to Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos. A young woman named Comfort (ironically in a most uncomfortable situation) found herself in a dispute with staff of a local airline — ibom Air. Allegedly, she refused to switch off her phone and instead put it on flight mode. Upon landing, she was blocked from exiting the plane for over 30 minutes, and the incident escalated. Instead of handling it through proper aviation security procedures, she now faces remand in prison — while in Abuja, an older, male celebrity was met with apologies. Why this is not justifiable 1. Disproportionate treatment – Similar or even worse incidents have been resolved with apologies when public figures were involved. 2. Improper procedure – Airline crew have no legal right to detain passengers post-landing without handing them over to airport security immediately. 3. Passenger rights – Under Nigerian Civil Aviation Regulations, passengers must be treated with dignity regardless of their status. 4. Double standards – Justice must be consistent, not dependent on fame, gender, or social influence. 🚨 The Question: If a celebrated man in Abuja could walk away with an apology, why is a young woman in Lagos being treated like a criminal for an incident that should have ended with a warning or a report to NCAA? Justice should be fair, not selective. ✊ #SayNoToDoubleStandards #AviationRights #Nigeria |
Note: This is a conservative estimate it doesn’t include post-June-2024 loans, or some undisclosed short-term borrowings. Economists estimate the actual figure for the first year may be closer to ₦9–₦9.5 trillion ($11.7–$12.3 billion). |
1. Publicly verifiable pre-June-2024 DMO/CBN/IMF data. 2. Credible estimates from economists and media reports for figures not fully itemized by DMO. Loan Total (May 2023 – June 2024) Foreign loans World Bank loans: June 2023: $750 million (Power & Governance reforms) August 2023: $500 million (Women’s Empowerment Project) December 2023: $1.5 billion (Economic Stabilization & Budget Support) Total World Bank: $2.75 billion AfDB loan: Nov 2023: $134 million (Agriculture sector) Other bilateral/multilateral: Various: ~$200 million from Islamic Development Bank, France’s AFD, and JICA. Foreign loan subtotal: $3.084 billion (~₦2.38 trillion at ₦770/$ average 2023 rate) Domestic borrowing Nigeria’s 2023 supplementary budget and early 2024 budgets were largely financed through local bond issuances. DMO reported new domestic debt in Tinubu’s first year of about ₦6.07 trillion. Total New Debt (May 2023–June 2024) Foreign: ₦2.38 trillion Domestic: ₦6.07 trillion ≈ ₦8.45 trillion new debt added in his first 13 months. At mid-2024 exchange (~₦770/$), that’s about $10.97 billion. What ₦8.45 trillion could have built Using Nigerian infrastructure cost benchmarks: Highways: ~₦1.5 trillion could build 1,000 km of dual carriage highways. Hospitals: ~₦300 billion could build 50 ultra-modern 500-bed hospitals nationwide. Rail: ~₦3 trillion could fund 300 km of standard gauge railway. Power plants: ~₦1.2 trillion could build 2 large 1,000 MW gas power plants Water & sanitation: ~₦200 billion could provide pipe-borne water systems for 500 towns.
