When I see a verse the first thing I look at consistency of the verse as regards to the tools employed. I am a proponent of free verse. I am more concerned on the message and how consistent it was put.

For example if you are going to use rhymes..I don't agree that their is any established pattern that is the best but your ability to maintain a pattern is key.

Imagine something like...
Premature Emcees trying to use me for beaf meat/
They drop a swine of thoughts to degenerate me/
The mature Emcees steal my shit/
Pray I drop more shits so they overfeed me/

Based on rhymes the lines above are good but I would rather judge it on how sensible and how consistent it has used every tool of poetry it employed.

Grammatically, beaf meat is a tutology. Beaf is a type of meat. Metaphorically, dropping more shits a result of their push is intellegent.
