Christianity EtcBreaking News: Sss Arrests El-rufai by lordgideon(op): 5:29pm On Jul 02, 2011
Azikiwe International, Abuja.

The former minister was on his way back from London where he presented a lecture at an event held by Chatham House.

Sources said el-Rufai was detained over the comments he made at the event, especially his criticism of President Goodluck Jonathan.

He had alerted the whole world via Twitter to his arrest around 8.40am.

He was immediately taken to the Yellow House headquarters of the SSS, and kept waiting for a few minutes before he met with the DG, Mr. Ita Ekpenyong.

At a point, el-Rufai informed his Twitter followers that he could no longer communicate with them as his phones‘ batteries had run down.

Neither the security agency nor the Federal Government has offered any explanation for the action.

The ex-minister‘s arrest immediately set off a buzz across social media, with many commentators expressing surprise at the development.

European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Premier League - Paper Round: Ronaldo To Be Sold For £150m by lordgideon(op): 1:10pm On May 20, 2011
Fri, 20 May 09:04:00 2011

Real Madrid will stun the world of football by selling Cristiano Ronaldo for £150 million, according to Friday's newspapers.

The Daily Mail reports that a "major rift" has developed between the winger and manager Jose Mourinho following a blazing row on the training ground, forcing Real president Florentino Perez to consider selling him to Manchester City.

City is the only possible destination for the Portuguese superstar, since no other club in the world could - or would - pay so much for a single player.

Manchester City have denied the reports as "mischief making", yet highly-respected Spanish football journalist Guillem Balague insists that the source for this story is impeccable. "The Ronaldo thing is true," he told Sky Sports News, confirming that negotiations have taken place - though remaining sceptical of the idea that the player would end up leaving.

The Sun also carries the story, however, adding that Ronaldo is demanding a five-year contract worth £300,000-a-week

European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Bebe Only Recently On United Radar by lordgideon(op): 11:48am On Aug 15, 2010
Manchester United chief executive David Gill admits the club's prospective new signing Bebe has "come from nowhere'' and only seriously arrived on the club's radar this month.

Bebe's imminent arrival - contingent on his passing a medical - comes just a matter of weeks after he signed for Vitoria Guimaraes on a free transfer and Gill is frank about the whirlwind nature of a deal that is reportedly worth in the region of £7million.

"He's a player we've been following, but he really came on the scene in the last week or so,'' Gill told MUTV. "We looked at him, spoke to a number of people about him and then went out and secured the deal yesterday.

"It's exciting. He's a potential player, and a lot of Manchester United's focus is about getting players who have the potential and then getting them under the great coaching of Alex (Ferguson), Mick (Phelan), Rene (Meulensteen) and other people.

"He can fulfil that potential with Manchester United and I think it's going to be exciting. Let's hope it works out.''

Gill added that it was unlikely that Bebe would be immediately sent out on loan and would instead be given the chance to bed down at Old Trafford.

"He'll join up and be part of the first-team squad this season,'' said Gill. "I think he'll probably stay this year. (He is) a boy who has to learn English and integrate into Manchester United, and he's really come from nowhere in a lot of respects
