Hightablevoice2:
I stand corrected

I hinted with my last paragraph that the problem with Nigeria is not lack of resources including human resources which is the bedrock of any enterprise but lack of orientation.

To you, it seems that I am defending the government. Well I will say that is your opinion. You are entitled to it and even goes further to not agree with my contributory comment.

But in the spirit of at least sharing more light to what I am trying to say, let's assume you have 0 naira in your bank balance. No connection, No access to government funds, but you have a burning desire that in your locality alone, there are about 60,000 people living there. And that's your local government. A mixture of rich, middle class, a little bit of scattered wealthy individuals and a majority of low class income households.

As an individual who thinks government is suppose to provide everything, you only see few people who are doing well and majority are in the same class of the 0 - 10k naira bracket. And you majorly complain about how bad everything is.

A common mistake people often make is, they assume wealth is a short cut process. It is not.
Mind you, I am not talking about having money, anybody can have money, but not everyone can be rich, and not everyone who is rich will be wealthy. You have to decide first hand your own capacity, not wishful thinking but actual capacity of your strength, your character, moral ethics and the value you posses before hand.

Operating from here, you will find that it is quite easy to step back a little bit, and fully digest what problem is it you can solve in your locality that will benefit them as well as you in the long run.

The first step is always commonality. What do you think you or all these people have in common? The simplest one that comes to mind is, like it or not you all must eat.

Feeding is a mandatory daily obligated objective, either rich or not.

Now comes another question, what food is commonly consumed. Besides the ones you can cook and all that which easily comes to mind, depending on how far your train of thought pierces though your mind, let's say you eventually settled on bread.

Now before you start imagining you want to be hawking bread, you are at liberty to take it a bit further what makes a profitable bakery run properly.

A lot of business and enterprises works, if it doesn't people won't be doing it. However the general concept is always either being to eager about it or overcomplicating the operations of it. It's not about will this work, one of the first issue is what won't make this work.

Now you may have the thought for physical location first..staffs and all sort logistical issues to resolve, the simplest way to start any venture is to start with the most simplest form of it. While people think bakery is all about a building, it doesn't necessarily have to be. With the help of oven(not necessarily gas oven.. it could be coal with proper insulation) with this you can easily produce 500-600 loaves every week.

While that number is minimal at first, but it does get your foot in the door. And that is where you want to be. Just get your foot in the door. See it as a different avenue to whatever you have going on. And learn every aspect of it. From flour ingredient procurement to baking standard.

Then comes the idea of how you are going to raise the start up capital. This is where you the person and the value you can create comes into place making use of every avenue possible.

There's a study that shows that an average human being personally have a relationship with at least 100-150 people at any given time. Think of your church, your mosque, your estate chairman, like-minded people who you know are like you who probably know one or two people that you may need. By the time you compound the list all together you should be able have a sizeable chunk of at least 50 people as your leads.

With that in mind, before even approaching anyone of them, take the initiative to know how much a bag of flour cost, what ingredients do bread need and the kind of bread you yourself likes to eat and the ones you know some housewives, single ladies, aboki indomie likes. This is all market survey. With a bit of leg work, this are free of charge information just laying there for to extract.
The same goes for oven that can handle 50-60 loaves of bread at once.

With this information, and having the sought the best knowledge of it's logistics and cost of operations, it shouldn't be a headache to outline at least the first potential 20 people that you will pitch the enterprise to.. with the best clarity of explanation, outline what you have sourced, agreements you have in place for people you will be supplying to and inherently make them understand you have already sourced the oven and everything lined up, you can even go as far as making them understand that you have already had a memorandum of understanding with all necessary aspect of the operation.

And now you are raising capital and willing to give not only a percentage of the profit when it starts coming on weekly or biweekly basis but also a stake in the business as it grows.

While you are not requesting for a huge amount like 500,000 or so, within 50k-100k is all you are bargaining for. With a total number of 50 prospective leads at least 4-5 will return your call..unless you are an Unorganized individual that they feel you will be a bad investment on their side.

While the initiative still goes on as to when and how you will be repaying, the idea is simple enough to carry out.. and this goes the same way for any other larger enterprise. Which by then requires more rigorous approach.

Belief it or not, a lot of people have money laying around that they will gladly give out to serious minded people whom they know can help themselves and even generate money for their patrons while at it.

Even in Nigeria a lot people do it for the sake of prestige. No strings attached. Just out of pure prestige.

Many people running large pure water company started from someone's compound and not even with a single vehicle to deliver with in the beginning.

Like I said, it depends on the lens you are seeing the society you live in with. We are not a developed country. We are even still trying to get close to the status of a developing country but yet everyone assumes we should be living like the developed world. Study history. There's a reason they say Rome wasn't built in a day.

I did my best to dial the tone down, not particularly for you, but at least someone who may or will likely see beyond what I am even trying to outline and make proper use of it.
Wow! Looooong story! Chai! You wan me to read this novel? No way! Man!! I must suggest to you to try writting a book instead you might even make a few coins from it.

You still have not made any comment on or condemn the fact that an un elected wife of the president is wasting tax payers money on unercerssary convoys and large enotourage she doesn't need, that costs the tax payers huge amounts you carefully avoided the main story rather went on a loooong rant blame on the poor struggling citizens..

What is your opinion on Remi teenubu's wasting of tax payers money on convoys? That's all i want to know stop wtitting long stories i am not interested in.

I think it is fair to say the man has done what was expected of him by his major stakeholders. While those interest in general does not reflect or in anyway have a wild effects on majority of Nigerians, the simple and yet irrevocable aspect of his government is that he has opened a lot of doors to make enough money if you just know where to look.

In all ways, Nigerians and the government has never had a relationship. They do what they think it's best, and the citizens complain and the underlining understanding of their excuse is you can never please everyone.

Majority has always complained, while the complain may stem from different context, the reality is the percentage of people who benefit from government and those who don't will always be the same. It is just how the human race are presently. Sure there may be more of us today, but the percentage of winners and those on the otherside have always been the same.

For any serious government to solve Nigeria problem, it will not only take a radical move but also a bold one at that. Everyone one isn't going to be a billionaire, and in Nigeria where influence through wealth is the most potent language, almost everyone feels they are being left behind while they see some others eat from the fruit of the nation.

As much as a lot of things are not working in this country, and the complain is over the top, every progressive mind knows problems equals opportunity. This opportunities, a lot of Nigerians are not seeing it. Making use of it becomes a matter of not knowing what to do.

An average Nigerian who works in bank, doesn't even know how to structure a deal let alone have the essence of it to raise capital to finance the deal. Everything is about government like we are living in some socialist state.

While I do not say we are in anyway close to margin of what we should be getting, it will be more productive also to start from somewhere. What Nigeria generates can not sustain Nigeria and that's even when you haven't factor corruption into the picture.

It is left for citizens to see where the cracks in the systems are, take advantage of it. Pooling resources, moving to solve problems minimals ones, creating a new avenue for resources instead of just waiting for the government to handle everything.

I wish there's a possible ways Nigerians have an avenue of people who will come together to tackle one aspect of the problem. In reality when you propose such, the attitude towards it is always the same, what is the government job. And with that attitude, a government who knows his tenure can only run for a limited time of 8 years will do everything to make sure he and not the country will continue to benefit from the time he is able to occupy that space.

The problem with Nigeria is not lack of human resources, it is purely lack of orientation.
Wow! See how this one is just trying so hard to make excuses for Teenubu and his looting corrupt govament, it is not the govament fault it is the people's fault that president wife is wasting millions on irrelevant convoys, it is the people's fault for not taking opportunities that are not even there.. grin. It is the people's fault, it is the people's fault that the an un elected wife of the president is wasting the people's moneym
