SOBER REFLECTIONS: AGATU, THE GENOCIDE NEXT DOOR.

I couldn’t keep my fume any longer, I couldn’t even get the stomach to read to the end, i decided to let the fume spill…
To start with, one would love to know how Human life is measured ? Say for example on a per cattle basis, because if one person could own a range of 10,000+ cattle’s I see no reasons why some gworro chewing, gun taunting herders, would kill more than 400 persons, for the killing of 1000 cows, ( newsmen, soldiers, and politicians traversing that area have totally denied sighting a single dead or decomposing cow), but then, they all confess, being sick to the stomach, over the sight of flies swarmed up decomposing dead bodies, left in the open.
As the wounded and the living who would have buried them, had so far abandoned their farms, homes, and the corpses of their loved once with hopes, that they live, at least to return for vengeance one day.
We do remember reading in the constitution once, that the overall function of the government is the Security and welfare of the citizens,.. And by Government here we mean both the Local, State and Federal Government.. But then, the Government here did promise the people Security and Protection, and then set up an amnesty programs for them to all surrender their weapons, so that the Government could move in to Protect them… But like every other promises our Politicians have been making overtime, “THEY LIED” the amnesty programme was an ambush, for a Genocide Master plan to wipe the Indigenous owners of the Community out of existence, and to turn the Richly endowed lands there, to cattle ranching lands…
Yes, because if that’s not the plan, we see no reasons why the President would be travelling round the world, granting interviews tagging the Judiciary corrupt, “allegedly” staging Nigerians corrupt, but in all keeping Mumm over the Genocide going on his country, and the Governor, would be travelling round the state with Battalions of Soldiers and Military Policemen at his beck and call, while the “DIS-ARMED” denizens of Agatu community are being turned into target practice, for blood/gworro crazed Fulani herdsmen. For the Local Government Chairman, we know that the State and Federal Government have deserted you guys, but then its uncalled for that even when the government has failed, that some strangers could come in, take over your farm and the produce therein, rape your wife and daughters, kill your parents and Children, and then turn your house to theirs, with no reprisal, by God these herdsmen tried the same thing in Ghana, check the news and see the “You don’t mess with us” message the host community sent to them.

To me and you, and all of us, reading from the comfort of our homes, office and farms in the North, South, East and West, feigning “E NO CONCERN ME” over the whole thing, lets all remember, that most of the Garri and farm produce we enjoy at our base, are from the hardworking Farmers in Benue most of whom have been gruesomely maimed already, and from the Rich and Arable lands which are about to be turned into Cattle Grazing Area..
And Not just that, let’s also be reminded, that today, its Agatu tommorow, it would be Enugu and the next it will be you… The Government have left them, their weapons taken, they are now left bare, vulnerable and defenceless to the mercies of the merciless herders... lets stand by them..

In war, after you make a proclamation that your enemy has been routed, the resulting act would be for the enemy to regroup, bring all their resources, to let people know that they still exist..

You all parade yourselves as the elitest of the elites, you boast of the richest African Alive, you boast of being the zone with highest number of the most of the oil wells in Nigeria, the highest oil producer in the west of Afruca, you all also parade as the 'that throne is mine' warriors in Nigerian politicosphere, you all adorn all the Agencies of the Nation, skilling to the bank each month(if not each day) with 9figures, and yet you fight hard and even dirty most times to get more.

But yesterday, from the pictures taken from Lai Mohammed's visit to the internally Displaced Persons(IDP's) camp, I saw this picture of an extremely malnourished child, lifelessly clinging on the mother with thready limbs that stood where the hands and feet's where supposed to be, as the mother, looking dejected, starved and miserably didn't even seem as if she had any more breast milk to spare...
And another picture, showed a cross section of dozens of mothers whose, extremely malnourished barely 8 months old babies clung with match sticky limbs, to their moms..

Now a survey of all those aforementioned elites would reveal, that all their kids were given birth to in western lands, and the salary in which they pay the 'white nannies' whom they employ to carter for the needs of their wards, in a month would equal what the malnourished kids mom would have to work her hearts out for like 5years to get.

But most disheartening thing is that, with all these money stocked up in numbered accounts in the canaries and Switzerland, to Cather for the 1millionthgeneration, they still go after the small money, budgeted by government to build schools, they still go on to steal the from the money earmarked for health and disease outbreak management, with all the food stock that their store room is stocked pilled with they still pilfer the bags of rice bought to cook for the hungry, and with their bullet proof cars, specially train securities, adequately armed to the tooth, they still go the extent of stealing the funds meant to buy weapons for the protection of common folks like this, so that at the days end, these peasants, with their illiteracy, hunger, and lack of comfort, would also have to be driven out of their houses in the middle of the night, because the Military whom should have protected them ran away for want of good weapons. While all you elites reside in your mansions with securities walking the parameter's with blood money meant to provide, roads, education, good health, basic amenities and yes security to these helpless folks .

Furthermore, to keep all these money within your elite circle, and to block it from leaking to the over impoverish peasants, you marry in your circles, Cantata's daughter weds Atiku's son, Babangida's son dating Dangote's son.

And most of you, as if crazed by your ill gotten wealth, with nothing again to do with it, do channel these money to sponsor terrorism, and are responsible for the sponsorship of the boko haram insurgents, that has now outgrown most of your care and is now ranked 4 in international stage, of the worst global terror cells.

And the worst is, you don't stop there, you make sure they peasant remain poor and uneducated, the number of formal schools are limited while the number of almajiri schools get proliferated.

No concrete attempt is made at exposing them to good education so that in the future when the peasants get enlightened on the scope of the inequalities they dont rise up against you ;
as illiterates they remain a ready pull of man power when you need zombie voters, so that as people with no value for their life or that of others they would happily die and kill blindly for your selfish interest.

And yet the South, West and East, with very few billionaires, there remain some spectre of hope for the common man, that if he/she could send his child to school, one day, if not him, his child, or his grandchild would stand par to par with your grandchild.

But then your conspiracy against the peasant exceed this age, so while Godswill Akpabio will be advocating free and compolsory education, you elites in connivance with your Malams would talk GEJ into building more Almajiri schools.

If no one in the north would rise to tell you this, then it remains for us fellow citizens from other region of this great Nation which you all are trying to run as family enterprise, to tell it to your faces that all you northern elites are responsible for undeveloped north, and that we in the other regions watching silently for either you folks to change, or for the peasants to rise up are fed up.

At that point, another man, who was also standing with us, awaiting the "Akwa Ibom Ado Owk" bus, (a long marcopolo bus, for conveying people cheaply from Uyo to Oron for #200 as against #600 ) quibed in, "Nkor Mmoh Enam fuel Asoboh mm"(shey they are responsible for this fuel scarcity.
he then went into the long process of lambasting them, stating how selfish they are as a group, how they would always want to eat their cake and have it, another went joined, starting how happy he was to see thw military shoot at them in Rivers, how their leader escaped, leaving the others to be arrested and remanded in custody,
Another now lamented how stupid those protesters are, stating that most of those arrested now would never see the light of day, that he's uncles nephew, that got arrested in a showdown like this, during Obasanjo's era to this day, have not been heard of,

Happy Indepence to us Nigerians and happy flag independence to our beloved Nation.

Onlookers stared paralysed with horror, trepidation, and uncertainty as the man tumbled in the air, his keke keys fallin off, in flight before he finally hit the hard asphalt with a thudd sound.. Minutes latter he got sorrounded by the trong of people, whom, with him inclusive had gathered 5minutes earlier at the scene of the first accident.
He was bundled up ASAP into a vehicle and taken to the hospital, where he gave up the ghost...

Edet Akpan Avenue (fourlane) happens to be the only road in Uyo, where posh cars, power bikes, and some #fast_and_furious keke drivers experiment how fast their vehicle can go, fulling their speedometers in their #need_for_speed
One of the lanes, however happened to have been in a state of disrepair, particularly the road by #edem_akai_street, courtesy of the activities of a carwash, and a borehole water selling stand, both of whose uncontrolled water had eroded the lanes asphalt and duged up a trench where before stood a smoth road, leading to commuters leaving the normal lane for the speed lane,.

Today however was a horrible day, that resulted, in 2 separate accident, in the spans of 5minutes apart, same place, an account by an eye witness is that,
The first accident occurred when a keke man while slowing down to descend, before accending out of the trench got knocked off the road by a speeding Mercedes benz, the force was such that my neighbour here by newbirth avenue, blocks away, was shaken from sleep by the sound of the shere impact,

The keke ended up in the gutter, the woman passenger inside luckily was almost unscratched as she got rescued out by onlookers drawn from far and wide by the screeching of the Mercedes, as an attempt at break and the ensuing impact, the kekeman was however not so lucky, but not in a hopeless situation though. The mercedea driver however escaped according to my neigbour.

As customary, keke drivers packed up and gathered en masse asking, recounting and discussing the accident, with the abysmal state of the road and the speed of the Mercedes the subject. The packed keke, and the throng of people, cloged up the road setting up the scene for the next accident.

A Prado jeep, probably coming from Eni stores,( from the fact that the driver, according to unlooKers, was eating rice while on wheels, and somewhat exhibited some drunken character)
The driver came speeding, unmindful of the throng of people, one thing led to another and kpongg, he hit one keke that was parked by one of the onlookers, leaving the vehicle flying high in the air before crashing to the gutter, the Prado from the speed and ensuing force of impact of the crash also took into the air, sailing overhead one old man before hitting the victim who was trying to run, leaving the unfortunate man flying some yards before crashing his head on the asphalt, leaving a pool of blood in the wake.
The scene was so traumatic as onlookers couldn't hold back tears seeing the man lying there in the pool of his own blood, unconscious, while his heaving heartbeat was all to show signs of life.
However, the driver seeing the throng who were sourcing for weapons with which they beat both the vehicle and its driver to smithereens, quickly bolted.

while the woman from the first accident would ve giving testimony in church, the keke driver would be somewhere receiving treatment, however, the family of the deceased would be there crying all night, mourning a son, a brother, father and friend... Whose life was all it would take for the government to remember its #zeropothole_policy.

To this, the bible has warned us never to try arguing with the devil, anytime he comes to us, the bible says "flee from him" however, most of us try reasoning with him, the truth is more times than not, we fail woefully and end up, falling for his tricks.
Hence, whenever the devil come to us, with promises of riches untold,  with promises of pleasures like never before, and power to do and undo, to this luscious apples we bite greedily with relish.and fall ungloriously.

Like we mostly do anytime we sin against God, we sew fig leaves of faulty reasonings like, "give to Caesar, Caesar's, and to God, He's." 'man have to do all he can to survive" we say, and we go about, croping up some faulty reasons as to why we did what we did, and why God should understand, when we should be asking for forgiveness.
The truth is, anytime we sin against God by contravening any of what he mandated of us  not to do, we loss the protection afforded us by his love, and we become vulnerable to all the devices of the wicked ones.
The bible has told us in, Provs. 28:13, that 'no one who covers up his/her sins would prosper'

To this end, Brothers and sisters, as humans, from time to time, we would fall into sin, however, whenever we slip and fall, we shouldn't attempt to justify why we sinned, by sewing up some skimpy, faulty reasons to hide under, rather we should go to God in humble supplication, as he has said in the Psalms "be yhe as red as crimson or black as soot(charcoal), i will make you whiter than snow.

So what is it that, you are trying to cover up ? What is it, that is hindering your spiritual prosperity?
Bring it to God today, saying this prayer,  "JESUS, I HAVE SINNED AGAINST YOU, PLEASE HAVE MERCY AND FORGIVE ME" as he is ever ready to cover our nakednes and vulnerability with his blood.
May God, forgive our sins and help us back to him, In Jesus name.  Amen.

With our state earning the highest revenue from the federal purse, with black gold flowing ceaselessly in our onshore and offshore, its no longer news that, we truely are they lost tribe of Isreal, and that we truely are in the land promised us by God,.
However, not withstanding the fact that this milk and honey flow over and around us, it's a pity, that we are still busy, fighting each other over whom it is to tap/fetch first, from the abundant of fountains flowing all round with milk and honey, and those who have already fetch, are so bound by greed that they want to drain the fountain before allowing someonw else fetch, and while they are at this, they would throw a can of from their loot from which, we fight each other to the death for, while they fetch, laughing while watching conveniently, as we kill each other for the pecks they throw at us.
Sometimes we even fight each other(brothers) for this, while strangers walk in to fetch and go conveniently, while we're at each others neck.

The shameful thing here is that this fountain is enough to carter for all our needs individually, but then for greed, jealousy, hatred, malice and what have you. We fight and kill each other, while our milk fountain waste away..
Our blessing is becoming our curse.

Those in Oron keep fighting themselves, the ibibio's won't allow the annang be, the Annangs want to show the ibibio pepper, our political elders want to teach Godswill Akpabio a lesson, for that Godswill constructs a longer road when the shortest way could have been through the elder's statesman village, those at #concord newspaper would never find anything good to write about the Governor, those at plaza would be there from morning to night arguing on how the Governor was poisoned by a call girl he took to the the house, hence he's being flown abroad....
You, mee, We allllllll, err in one way or another either by fighting the government ourselves, colluding with someone to fight the government , keeping quiet and watching others fight the government, or even the government themselves deriving joy, fighting the citizens. This trend has had us at each others neck, fighting when we could bury our hatchets and differences and work together towards our states progress.

Hence, today, as we all, have agreed to #dakkada (arise/standup). Lets not just #dakkada from our house to the stadium, lets not just dakkada by wearing the #dakkada T-shirts

Its a new era, we dont have to wait till we are 40 before we begin the odious task of fixing our state, we dont have to wait untill we are the once at the helms of the affairs before we start Repairing our wont Loosening brotherly bond.

Its about that time we all joined our hands together towards helping our state progress, it doesn't have to be until an APC candidate is enthroned in power before we start seeing the man at the #hilltopMansion as this( Akwa Ibom state) ship's captain.

EDUCATION.
Before now, children from the state
where often trafficked out in drones tp
serve as house helps to those in the big
cities, by some not well to do parents,
with hope that they get to be Educated
while there.

The Goodwill Akpabio’s administration
in a bid to curtail this, and to bring
Education to all cadres of people in the
state, implemented the free Education
Policy. Which is aimed at making
Education from the Primary through the
Secondary level, accessible to the
abjectly poor and those in the rurality
who could hitherto not afford the high
cost of educating their wards, hence
trafficking them out.

So far, the policy has yielded good
results, as child trafficking which was
hitherto the other of the day has been
drastically reduced.

POLITICS The states politics is mostly Dominated by 3 ethnic groups, Ibibio, Annang and Oron, with the Ibibio’s flexing most of the political muscles, by way majority, the Annang staying comfortable in the middle, while the Oron remain politically sidelined.

ECONOMY
Akwa ibom state id basically a civil
service state, with majority of those in
the rural areas tapping into the farming
and fishing trade.
The state also doubles as the highest
producer of crude oil, with 99% of its
yearly revenue coming from the oil
sector.

Over the years, The state’s government
has made concrete attempt towards
diversifying the statea economy, the
Victor Attah’s administration, started
ground works on the construction of an
International Airport.
Science Park, a Five star hotel, etc,
most of this were completed by the
Godswill Akpabio’s administration,
which also constructed an
internationaly standardized airport, A
world class hospital, and good road
networks across the state.
The Udom Emmanuel’s administration,
is fixed on transforming the state
industrially, with groundworks on
different industries has already been
laid so far across the state.

DEMOGRAPHY
The main ethnic groups of the state
are: Ibibio, Annang, Oron, Eket/Ibeno.
Each ethnicity with its own dialect.

However, while the Ibibio and Annang
can comfortably and understandably
converse with each other, the Oro, Ekid,
Obolo, dialect are different and
understood mainly by the ethnic group
particular to it. The Ibibio is the
language that is most understood by all
ethnicity..

Christianity is the ideal religion of its
people, though there exist some pockets
of traditional worshippers particularly in
the remote villages.

On September 23, 1987, the then
military government of Ibrahim
Babangida, created 9 more states, with
the aim of not only bringing the
government closer to the people, but
also to balance the then, loopsided
Nigerian landscape, Cropped out of
Cross River state, the then Uyo, Ikot
Ekpene, Eket and Abak divisions of old
Calabar province, and together form a
new state… AKWA IBOM STATE.
Akwa Ibom state, is situate in the
southeastern part of the country, its
territories lie between latitudes 4°321
and 5°331 North, and longitudes 7°251
and 8°251 East. The State is bordered
on the east by Cross River State, on the
west by Rivers State and Abia State,
and on the South by the southernmost
part of Cross River state, and the
seemingly boundless Atlantic Ocean
Uyo, which is strategically situated in
the heart of the state, was chosen as
the capital, to help in the branching of
development to all part of the state.
