Your Excellency, we laud your wisdom and sense of discernment in re-launching our state to the party at the Federal level of Government.

Honestly, in the history of political development in Nigeria, both in pre and post Independence democratic processes, South East has always mainstreamed with the Party of national unity. We cannot afford to be subjected to political marginalization by belonging to a minority party of dwindling national spread.

The decision to join the ruling APC is a product of sheer determination to harness the full complements of the nation’s dividends of democracy that will fast-track political progress and economic prosperity of the people of Ebonyi State; Salt of the Nation.

Your Excellency, we are pretty confident that by your celebrated leadership hallmarks and excellent track-records, Ebonyi State and her people shall be uplifted in bounds and shall be given a pride of place in the affairs of the nation.

While we congratulate the new State Caretaker Committee of APC, ably led by Chief Stanley Okoro Emegha, we appreciate the National Caretaker Committee of APC ably led by His Excellency, Alhaji Mai Mala Buni, Governor of Yobe State, for the injection of altitude in the reunion of the present and past leaders of the State under our progressive party.APC

Lady Monica Chidinma Ada Eze has reacted to the wagging of tongues that has trailed the planned movement of the Executive Governor of Ebonyi State, Apostle Dave Umahi, to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), stating that it has become imperative to put in proper perspective, the stand of the Governor on the news that has continued to command wider circulation.

In a statement made available to media houses, Lady Monica Chidinma Ada Eze who Is the Technical Adviser to the Governor explained that the position of the peoples' Governor is, and has always been that the Peoples Democratic Party be fair enough to ratify the injustices meted out on the South East since the inception of the party over two decades ago.

Recalling the roles played by Late Sage and former Vice President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Dr. Alex Ekweme alongside others in confronting the Abacha Junta to secure the current democracy the country enjoys and which pioneered the formation of the Peoples Democratic Party, Lady Monica Eze lamented the sudden gang ups and later, the unjust denial meted on the then Presidential hopeful from flying the party's flag in the build up to the 1999 Presidential election, notwithstanding the fact that he was the most preferred in the circle of contenders. She said Ekwueme's only crime was that he was from the South East region.

Despite several other acts of injustice and unfair treatments, TA Monica Eze maintained that the South East never staggered, but remained faithful to the course of the Peoples Democratic Party. She however regretted that the party have continued to treat the zone as inconsequential and with sheer levity in its concerns, commending Nigerians for standing by the Governor for raising their consciousness to the undemocratic leanings of the party and its leadership.

Monica highlighted that by the singular act of boldness displayed by Umahi, the Governor has carved a niche for himself as the conscience of the South East and a beacon of hope and comfort for the people of the zone who have suffered perpetual neglect from the PDP.

For avoidance of doubt, Monica highlighted that her boss appealed to the national leadership of the party to promise to zone the Presidential ticket to the South East, as a condition prerequisite for his continued stay in the PDP. She said the zoning will would determine the seriousness on the part of the party to remedy their wrongs against the long neglected zone.

Lady Monica Aka Ada Ebonyi maintained that election is like warfare and all is good in any war. Since the PDP has deliberately refused to zone its presidential ticket to the zone, the Igbo will go with any political party that cedes to its interest. It is unjust and act of witchery for PDP to deny the zone the presidential slot not minding that since 1999, the Southeast has been a backbone of the PDP and nothing to show for it. "We can no longer continue to play second fiddle in a political party we saw to its formation"

Monica noted with happiness the resolution of the Party to hold an Emergency NEC this Thursday November 19 at the National Secretariat of the party, Wadata Plaza, Abuja to discuss the Planned Defection of Governor Umahi while the Board of Trustees (BoT), the highest advisory organ of the party, is also scheduled to meet on Wednesday at 2pm on the same issue.

The actions of the party, TA Monica said, shows that it is coming to terms with the lurking danger and risk that will confront it should a high flying political leader like Governor Umahi be allowed to defect, stressing such a movement will culminate to the total decimation of the party before the 2023 general election.

As Nigerians await the outcome of the scheduled meetings, Monica assured her boss that 95% of the leadership of the South East including the apex body of Ndi Igbo the Ohanaeze Ndi Igbo are with him in this struggle to restore the dignity of the Igbos in the politics of Nigeria.

The team of Ebonyi State Human Rights Complaint Office, a committee set up on the wake of #EndSARS# Protest by the State Governor to receive complaints from the public on the Human Rights Violation today, 9th November, 2020 paid a courtesy visit to the Comptroller of Correctional Service, Mr. Ogbodo Boniface in his office at Ekwulumili Street Abakaliki, the State Capital.


Speaking during the visit, the Chairman of Ebonyi State Human Rights Complaints Office and State Ombudsman, Chief Emmanuel Obasi Jp who also doubles as the Deputy Principal Secretary to the Ebonyi State Governor emphasized that, the essence of the visit was in line with the directive of Mr President to set up Human Rights Complaint Office to investigate and recommend compensation and other remedial measures against human rights violation and abuses generally by Law Enforcement Agents as promised the #EndSARS# protesters which His Excellency Engr David Nweze Umahi swung into action and constituted the Human Rights Complaints Office made up of Chief Emmanuel Obasi Jp as Chairman and State Ombudsman, Comrade Mrs Jennifer Adibe-Nwafor as Secretary and Mr Chris Okorie as member to represent the NHRC on 20th Oct, 2020.

Chief Emmanuel Obasi noted that it has become necessary that all the stakeholders in different Security Service Sectors should rise to ensure that Human Rights are protected because an injury to one is an injury to all. He stressed that, the visit was to seek hands of fellowship with the Correctional Service Office to guarantee that the Rights of those under their custody as inmate and especially those Awaiting Trial are not being abused anyhow adding that the right of all the inmates must be respected and guaranteed except maybe that of Freedom of Movement etc as enshrined in their Acts.

He however requested that the Correctional Service Boss, Ogbodo Boniface should serve humanity by way of visiting prisons across the State to listen to the ordeals of the inmates and ascertaining whether their rights are being infringed upon or not. Chief Obasi equally pointed out that prison inmates especially those who are still undergoing trail have the right to complain if their Fundamental Human Rights are abused, adding that Section 182, Sub Section 1 of the Ebonyi State Administration of Criminal Justice Law 2019 provides that after 180 days from the date of arraignment, the Comptroller of Correctional Service should make Returns to the Chief Judge and Attorney General to ensure that people do not stay in prison custody Awaiting Trial for a long period of time before their conviction or acquittal. He stated that detention of suspects for a long period of time without trial is akin to Abuse of Human Rights. And further informed the Comptroller on the proposed summit to be organised by Human Rights Complaints Office to educate Ebonyians on their Fundamental Human Rights and pleaded with him to avail himself to address Ebonyians on such occasion. Chief Obasi hinted that the team of Ebonyi State Human Right Complaints office will be embarking on a tour to the two Correctional Centres in the State in due course.

Contributing, Comr Mrs Jennifer Adibe-Nwafor SA on Inter Party and Labour Matters who's the Secretary of the Ebonyi State Human Rights Complaint Office disclosed that the Committee has thus far received 8 complaints from some individuals in the State. She hinted that their duty was to receive complaints of Abuse of Human Rights by Security Agents from individuals in the State, investigate them and report back to the Special Security and Human Rights Committee Chaired by the State Governors, His Excellency Engr David Nweze Umahi for further action. She called on Ebonyians whose rights were infringed by Security agents or vigilante groups to come up with their petition for decisive action.

Reacting, the State Comptroller Ogbodo Boniface expressed utmost pleasure for the visit. He maintained that what led to the emergence of the Human Rights Complaint Committee was as a result of the #EndSARS# protest. He noted that his office has continued to respect Rights of prison inmates in their two Correctional Centres at Abakaliki and Afikpo and pointed out that there is a system put in place that protects the inmates which stipulate that inmates should be kept in accordance with their different offence.

He cited the Standing Order of Correctional Service, which according to him guaranteed the rights of inmates to be investigated thoroughly and tested first to know if the person truly committed the offence in question before any punishment is administered on him/her while in prison depending also on doctor's approval. He also cited a system which allows the inmate to have recreational activities, among other privileges. Comptroller Ogbodo Boniface further emphasized that those on awaiting trial are not regarded as inmate, noting that they are being treated differently and respectfully until they are convicted. He however assured the Committee that the Criminal Administration Law of the Ebonyi which gave him the right to make report of inmate after 180days to Chief Judge and Attorney General will be carried out as stipulated under his watch. And assured the Committee access to interact with the inmates and promised to give them the necessary cooperation and support in carrying out their duties.

The Deputy Comptroller of Correctional Service who is the Head of Admin, DCC Austin Nwaosuagwu added that there is welfare packages which allows the inmates to speak with their relatives on phone as provided by the Correctional Centre, among others.

Barr Ben Odoh who is the Legal Adviser to the Ebonyi State Human Rights Complaints Office disclosed that there was a law passed by the State Government which stipulate that those who steal phone, or commit minor offences etc should be convicted to serve where they will learn how to repair phone etc as a means of empowerment and attitudinal change.

The Founder and President of David Umahi Nweze Akubaraoha Ebonyi Transformation Agenda (DUNAETA), a grassroot NGO based in Abakaliki, the capital of Ebonyi State, Lady Monica Chidinma Ada Eze has reacted to the youth adventure in the politics of Nigeria through the #ENDSARS project, describing it as as an eye opener and good proof to all that the future of the country lays in the hands of our youths.

In a statement made available to media houses, Lady Monica expressed disappointment over the hijack of the #ENDSARS Project by those she described as 'unconscious and conscienceless mortals' who hid under the masthead of public demonstration to cause mayhem and wreck economic sabotage on the country.

Monica however expressed satisfaction that Nigerian youths have demonstrated genuine interest and capacity to take the country to higher heights when given the opportunity to steer the ship of state considering the timeless creed and patriotic zeal with which the exercise was conducted and the huge impact it has created on the polity.

Lady Monica also known as Ada Ebonyi, said given the need to entrust the leadership of the country to the right person with the right frame of mind, perception, mentality and most importantly, with the fear of God, Nigerians must look the the way of the outstanding youth friendly leader, His Excellency Engr. Dave Nweze Umahi, the Executive Governor of Ebonyi State.

Furthermore, Lady Monica Chidinma Ada Eze who doubles as the Technical Assistant to Gov Umahi on Media emphasized that only a governor with a divine inspiration, Godly perception, sound shrewdness, gross competence and tactful leadership mentality could drive what she called 'the uncommon transformation' sweeping across Ebonyi state.

Lady Monica, a vibrant and full fledged youth in her 20s, occupying a sensitive position in the government of Ebonyi State, as one of the most respected Technical Assistants to Governor Umahi, enumerated twenty three reasons below why Nigerian Youth must adopt, as the next Nigerian President, Governor Dr. Dave Nweze Umahi, a divine tool, adequately stocked with the requisite leadership traits to proffer workable solutions to the myriad of challenges currently facing Nigeria:

EBONYI STATE GOVT TO EMPOWER 2600 YOUTHS WITH ONE MILLION NAIRA EACH

It is unprecedented in the annals of governance in Nigeria by any Government to have taken this type of bold step geared towards lifting the youths from the dunghill of poverty and joblessness and empowering them to add value to society.

Accordingly, Governor David Umahi announced that the government of Ebonyi State has set aside a whooping sum of 2.6bn Naira to empower over 2,600 youths drawn from the 13 council areas of the state.

Reeling out the importance of the scheme, Umahi, the most Youth friendly Governor in Nigeria explained that there is an urgent need for youths to be economically empowered to fight poverty which is a breeding ground for all forms of restiveness.

The governor further stated that the empowerment will go a long way in giving the youth sound economic footing because an "idle man" is, in popular parlance, "a devil's workshop".

Again and again, I call on the youths, the good, the bad, the ugly, we have 2.6bn. We want the local government chairmen, the coordinators, to identify these 200 people. Not when we ask you to do these, you go and write your brothers and sisters that are working or on government appointment. We need to take 200 youths in each LGA off the street.

UMAHI SLASHES EBSU SCHOOL FEES

This is another bold step taken to ensure that the youths are properly catered for. By slashing the school fees of the Ebonyi State University (EBSU), more youths will enroll into tertiary education to get properly educated and become better citizens of our great country.

According to Umahi, the reduction is to assist parents to pay the school fees and prevent students from dropping out of school.

Excerpts from the Governor's declaration reads:

“All non-indigenes of Ebonyi State University School fees are reduced by Ten Thousand Naira (#10,000.00) per student.

“All indigenes of Ebonyi State in Ebonyi State University school fees reduced by Twenty Thousand Naira (#20, 000.00) per student,” he said.

Similarly, the state government had last week released all monthly subventions owed to Ebonyi State University and additional N200 million salary intervention fund.

The Governor said the total money released to the university management to assist it in offsetting staff salary is over N500 million.

While in many climes, youths are reserved and used for thuggery and political intimidation but in Ebonyi State, youths are seen as priceless jewel. In this regard, Umahi made another great stride to prove his identification with the Youths of Nigeria when he influenced the appointment of a 27 old youth, Hon . Chima Okechukwu Ogbuagu an M.Sc candidate (Public Administration ) from the prestigious Abia State University , Uturu as the youngest Nigerian Local Government Council Executive Chairman.

The ABSU graduate made history becoming the youngest Local Government Chairman in Nigeria.
The common belief in Nigeria today is that the old saying "Youths are leaders of tomorrow" is a mirage which can be achieved only in the dream world.

Everyday experience in the country gives more reasons to support the view that there is no space for the youth as far as politics and governance in Nigeria is concerned.

Youths are seen as only relevant in political thuggery and snatching of ballot boxes during elections after which they are discarded.

His administration unarguably houses the highest concentration of young people as political appointees in Nigeria.

UMAHI IS TESTED AND WELL POSITIONED TO GIVE PURPOSEFUL LEADERSHIP TO NIGERIA

This Zik Award winner for leadership and described as the wisest Governor in Nigeria by Governor of Abia State, Ikpeazu. With 34 member of the Ebonyi State Executive Council, 24 members of the Cabinet are youth's below the age of 45.

With 13 Local Government Council Helmsmen, eight of them are all youths below the age of 50

With the completion of the yet to be commissioned International Mall the first of its kind in any State in West African countries, 75% of the shops and business outfits to operate in the mall are all reserved for the youths

Prior to now, Ebonyi youths parade the streets of Port Harcourt, Onitsha, Ibadan, Lagos and Abuja sellng wares and other items, but with the emergence of Dr. Umahi as the Governor of Ebonyi State has put an end to those sad experiences.

Youths in these towns have been allotted shops in the International Market commissioned and assumed to be the best in any State in the Eastern part of Nigeria.

Aside the aforementioned, 85% of our youths benefits from the Agricultural policy of the State that have made the State one of the best in the area of Agriculture in Nigeria.

Based on the spirit of equity, justice and fairness, the need of zoning the 2023 Presidency to the South East becomes imperative and none disputable

If this becomes the case seeing that with the eight years of the administration of President Buhari from the North, it becomes the turn of the South East seeing that South West through General Olusegun Obasanjo have their take for eight years.

The DUNAETA President postulated that with the overwhelming support the South East as a geopolitical zone has given the Peoples Democratic Party since its formation in 1999, zoning her Presidential slot to the zone is not only imperative but justifiable going by the principles of equity, justice and fair play and with what what Governor Dave Nweze Umahi has achieved he becomes the light of the zone for this exalted position come 2023.

Umahi’s feats in Ebonyi State has showcased him as the people’s leader as his remarkable feats within the past five years in areas of healthcare, education, security, agriculture, maintenance and dualization of Federal Roads particularly, the Abakaliki to Enugu and Abakaliki to Afikpo Express Roads, Construction of the Biggest State Shopping Mall in Nigeria, prompt payment of salaries to civil servants and pension to pensioners, the infrastructural revolution, “Ebonyi is truly blessed with an enigma and innovative leader as her Governor that one can easily postulate that the modernization of Ebonyi State has been achieved in our lifetime through Apostle Dr. David Nweze Umahi.

Truly and assuredly I agree with Mr. Paul Owen the American that Umahi deserves to be president of Nigeria come 2023 if we are to forge ahead positively. ENDORSEMENT BY THE NIGERIA YOUTH CONGRESS.
The Nigerian Youth Congress (NYC) domiciled under the office of the Senior Special Assistant (SSA) to President Muhammadu Buhari on Youths and Student Affairs, endorsed Chief David Umahi, Governor of Ebonyi state for the Presidency during the 2023 general elections.

Mr Nasiru Adhama, the SSA to the President on Youth and Students Affairs, made the endorsement during the inauguration of the group’s state chapter saying that Umahi is the man the country needs to change its fortunes.

The SSA represented by Mr Aminu Isyaku, said the congress inspected projects constructed by the governor across the state and were overwhelmed by the governor’s infrastructural strides and felt he should do same at the national level.

“We are propagating to the world that the Nigerian youths have the capacities to make Nigeria attain its set targets and Umahi is fit to do this with what we have seen on ground in Ebonyi.

He said that Ebonyi government is dominated by youths and that was what the youths were asking Umahi to do at the national level having realized that youths are the strengths of nations.

According to their statement, they justified their recommendations on the argument that Umahi have been transparent in governance in addition to having proven track records of achievements.

The youth groups extolled Umahi as the best performing governor in the southeast region with evidence of infrastructural development in Ebonyi state.

Business mogul, Chief Cletus Ibeto, has urged the South-east region to support Governor Dave Umahi of Ebonyi state for 2023 presidency as through his disposition fits in for the position of President of the country.

“The Ecumenical Centre initiated and completed by Umahi’s administration stands out as one of the best places of worship in the entire West African countries. One of the best International Markets and motor parks in the entire Nigeria are completed coupled with the electrification of all the Local Government Headquarters of the State including major towns in the State. All the major roads to major towns and Local Government Headquarters are all being constructed.

She noted that “if Gov. “Today, Ebonyi State stands out as one of the State in Nigeria with concrete roads linking all the Local Government Headquarters. While almost all the States are engulfed with one security challenge or the other, Lady Monica said Umahi’s pragmatic approach to leadership has ensured the security of lives and property of citizens, residents and even visitors.”

PREFACE

Lady Monica Chidinma Ada Eze who was recently reappointed as the Technical Assistant (TA) on Media to Governor David Nweze Umahi (FNATE, FNSE) the Executive Governor of Ebonyi State has described the current dispensation in the life of Ebonyi State and her people as a period of triple celebrations. Celebration of the 60th Independence anniversary of Nigeria, 24th anniversary of the creation of Ebonyi State and creation of the modern Ebonyi State under the visionary and innovative leadership of Governor of Ebonyi State, Engr. Dave Nweze Umahi according to the dream of the founding fathers of Ebonyi State.

According to Lady Monica Ada Eze the President/Founder of David Umahi Nweze Akubaraoha Ebonyi Transformation Agenda (DUNAETA) a vibrant, virile grassroots NGO whose inputs and mobilization towards enthronement of genuine democracy in Ebonyi State are in the open and acknowledged widely both within and outside Nigeria highlighted that by every October 1st, Nigerians roll out drums to celebrate the country’s independence from the British colonialists. In Ebonyi State, October 1st, provides her own celebration as the state was equally created on the same day. Thus as the country marks its 60th birthday, Ebonyi also celebrates 24 years of its creation.

This year’s celebration of both the Nigeria’s 60t Independence Day anniversary and 24th anniversary of the creation of Ebonyi State is a bit unique and different as it falls within the periods most State Governments in Nigeria are also celebrating their first year anniversary in office of most of State Executive Governors that were sworn in by May 29th 2019.

EBONYI STATE HAS COME OF AGE

She opined that Ebonyi State at the age of 24 not minding the state of her creation and backwardness in the past has come of age to take its rightful position among the comity of States in Nigeria courtesy of the remarkable impacts and innovative leadership that the current Governor have brought to bear on the leadership of the State.

Ebonyi and all Ebonyians are truly in festive spirit as apart from the celebration of the 60th independence anniversary of Nigeria and the 24th anniversary of the creation of Ebonyi State, Ebonyians are also celebrating the remarkable feats of Governor Umahi within the past five years in areas of healthcare, education, security, initiating one of the best Airports in Nigeria, agriculture, maintenance and dualization of Federal Roads particularly the Abakaliki to Enugu and Abakaliki to Afikpo Express Roads, Construction of the Biggest State Shopping Mall in Nigeria, prompt payment of salaries to civil servants and pension to pensioners, infrastructural revolution which are visible even to the blind. “Ebonyi is truly blessed with an enigma and innovative leader as her Governor that one can easily postulate that the modernization of Ebonyi State have been achieved in our life time through Apostle Dr. David Nweze Umahi.

EBONYI STATE BEFORE THE COMING OF UMAHI AND HIS IMPACT

Ebonyi State in the eyes of the world was a State infested and known for the menace of the deadly Guinea-worms and water borne diseases with a Local Government Secretariat as its Government House but since the coming of Governor Umahi all these negative thoughts about Ebonyi State has become things of the past, “those who have visited Ebonyi State before the coming of this Infrastructural Bulldozer cannot know the State if they visit the State now as the changes in the State is even more visible to the blind. Apart from the approval of the request by the administration of Governor Dave Nweze Umahi of Ebonyi State to construct an International Airport by the Federal Government at a time when the need to boast the economy of the State and region becomes imperative” Monica averred.

She stated that, “It is on record that Governor Umahi is the first Governor from Ebonyi State to embark upon construction of over ten gigantic flyovers in the State with six completed while four in the process of completion. To make the State a truly modern State, Governor Umahi has started the construction of the first Olympiad size Stadium and the Ebonyi Ring Road linking almost all the Local Government Headquarters of the State. The construction of one of the best Government House in Nigeria is completed and ready for commissioning.

Specifically, six of the flyovers completed include; Akanu Ibiam Flyover, Offia Nwali Flyover, President Muhammad Buhari Flyover/ Tunnel, St. Margaret Umahi Flyover and Arthur Eze flyover. The four ongoing flyovers are located at Ezzamgbo flyover to be known as Senator Sam O.Egwu Flyover •Nkalagu flyover to be known as Chief Cletus Ibeto Flyover. Nkalagu, others are the Airport and Uburu Flyovers. The construction of the flyovers in the state is part of the effort of UMAHI to upgrade the state to a city, not just a city but to put the state on top when beautiful, secured and economically viable states are ranked.

The Ecumenical Centre initiated and completed by Umahi’s administration stands out as one of the best places of worship in the entire West African countries. One of the best International Markets and motor park in the entire Nigeria are completed coupled with the electrification of all the Local Government Headquarters of the State including major towns in the State. All the major roads to major towns and Local Government Headquarters are all being constructed.

The Water-Scheme in the State is being developed to supply water to all areas of the State coupled with all other major developments that has placed the State as the most developing economy in Nigeria. All these feats to make Ebonyi State one of the most developed States in Nigeria, Dr. Umahi scored another first amongst all the Governors that have governed Ebonyi State to become the South-South Vice-Chairman of the Governors’ Forum and Head the South East Governors Forum.

Lady Monica Eze AKA Ada Ebonyi further stated that if what makes a State modern are the provisions of quality and drinkable water scheme, good roads, electricity, quality infrastructural facilities then one can conclude without fear of contradiction that with all that Gov. Umahi has achieved within the span of five years, he is truly the catalyst and Creator of modern Ebonyi State. She congratulated Governor Umahi and the entire Ebonyians on this occasion of the celebration of both the independence of Nigeria and creation of Ebonyi State and most importantly the speedily development of the State.

Umahi’s zeal to transform Ebonyi was born out of the experience he gathered as both former Chairman of PDP in the state and Deputy Governor. His policy trust on the industrialization was key, which he began with the construction of three industrial clusters across the three senatorial zones aimed at developing each sector. These include agriculture, technology and human empowerments. As an engineer, he engaged new technology in constructions with particular reference to roads where 8 inches concrete roads started springing up in the state. Parks, markets and streets started wearing new looks. Pedestrian crossing, flyovers, street lights, water fountains were also built to change the face of Ebonyi, transforming it to one of the fastest growing economies in Nigeria.

Empowerment for youths and widows has taken a new shape in the state, positively impacting lives of many. Today, many youths who were mere street urchins have become employers of labour through the rich empowerment programmes of the Umahi administration.

Reactions on the Feats of Governor Umahi

Reacting to some of the great feats of Governor Umahi within this past five years, Lady Comfort Obi, the Publisher of the Source Magazine and a very powerful Pen Pusher in Nigeria highlighted in one of her treatises, “In fairness to Umahi, he has so far, done well as Ebonyi Governor. He has encouraged Agriculture, especially, in the area of rice production. Ebonyi rice ranks amongst the best in the country. I don’t know much about what he did in the area of yam production, but I proudly ask for Abakailiki yams from my yam customer. But where Umahi has definitely excelled most is in the provision of Physical Infrastructure, especially roads. Aside from Anambra State where Peter Obi excelled in the construction of roads, no other governor in the south-east compares to Umahi in that area. Gradually, Umahi has bequeathed Ebonyi with quality roads. Umahi has also excelled in the area of education, granting scholarships to hundreds of Ebonyians in relevant areas of study. Thanks to him, Abakailiki, which, as the state capital looked worse than a local government headquarters, has had a complete turn- around. It looks bam”

UMAHI AND NATIONAL POLITICS

With all these feats, I can proudly state as Ada Ebonyi that if the access to power is based on the feats and capability of leaders to turn a seemingly dark age to a very bright future that Engr. Dave Nweze Umahi is now fully prepared for a higher position in the politics of Nigeria.

I am glad to note that my view tallies with the prediction of an American, Dr Paul Owen from the city of California who squealed in delight after watching a video clip in my YouTube channel displaying the silent but very salient revolution that Dr. David Nweze Umahi is igniting in Ebonyi State and could not help but postulated thus: "Umahi deserves to be the President of Nigeria come 2023 but sadly most Nigerians are blind“.

While I differ from Owen’s view about most Nigerians being blind as captured above, I must agree with his submission that Umahi is now well prepared to take Nigeria out of the woods and her present economic and political challenges.

These and many more underscores the basis on which one of the prominent sons of South East, Chief Arthur Eze once advised President Muhammad Buhari, ”to look no further than the Ebonyi State Governor for a Nigerian President of the Igbo extraction if, and when the time comes. Apostle Dave Nweze Umahi, the wisest Governor in Nigeria has come of age and it is time for Nigeria to move forward with him”. All these feats to make Ebonyi State one of the most developed States in Nigeria are the initiatives of Apostle Umahi, divinely inspired to lead the state on the path of progress and reposition her to that highly anticipated enviable height

Gov. Umahi is a magician, an enigma, poster boy and Revelation of this dispensation and your visit to Ebonyi will convince you.

Umahi's Presidency becomes imperative particularly now that based on equity and spirit of fairness all Nigerians are of the view that the next President must come from the Igbo extraction.

Conclusion

With all these feats, I can happily and proudly state that Governor Umahi is the David of Ebonyi, the wisest Governor in Nigeria according to Governor Ikepazu of Abia State, this Zik Awardee for Leadership is due for a higher position in Nigeria as demonstrated his commitment to making EBONYI State one of the fastest-growing economies in Nigeria today.

As reactions continue to trail the just concluded governorship election in Edo State, which saw the emergence of Godwin Obaseki as Governor for a second term, founder and President of David Umahi Nweze Akubaraoha Ebonyi Transformation Agenda (DUNAETA), Lady Monica Chidinma Eze, has joined in solidarity with Obaseki and the Edo State Chapter of the People's Democratic Party.

In a statement circulated to the media, Lady Monica recalled how Governor David Umahi of Ebonyi State predicted about eight months ago that Governor Godwin Obasaki will be reelected and to the pride of members of the PDP family, his prophesy came to fruition when on the 20th September, 2020, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) formally declared Obaseki winner of the Edo State gubernatorial election held on Saturday, 19th September, 2020.

According to the result as declared by INEC, Governor Godwin Obasaki of PDP polled 307, 955 Votes to defeat his closest rival, Pastor Ize-Iyamu of APC who polled 223, 619 Votes

Lady Monica, erstwhile Technical Adviser to Governor Umahi, emphasized that only a governor with a divine inspiration, perception, mentality and most importantly, with the fear of God can be bold enough to make such declaration even when he was in a different political party then.

Lady Monica AKA Ada Ebonyi recalled that Gov. Umahi made the declaration while addressing Mr. Obaseki’s wife, Betsy, and other Southern governors’ wives who were on a courtesy call on him in Abakaliki, the Ebonyi State capital in January, 2020. The Southern Governors' wives were in the state for the Southern Nigeria Governors’ Wives Forum quarterly meeting.

Lady Monica AKA Ada Ebonyi recalled the exact words of Governor Umahi thus, “Power belongs to God and no matter what anybody will do, it is God that has the final say and I can assure you Ma, you know as an apostle of the most high God, I also prophesy, and because of the good work your husband is doing for the people of Edo State, no man can unseat him.

“Even in our NEC meeting, when Obaseki speaks, you see Economics. You see a man that came from private sector background and so, we can’t wish that away. So, congratulations to you in advance and to all of us. "Let me reiterate that Gaodwin Obaseki will be re-elected Governor of Edo State and nothing will stop his re-election because he has done well and deserves to continue in office.”

Governor Umahi who is an Apostle of the most High God has influenced the construction of a lot of churches even when he was not in government and today to his credit he has ensured the great benefit and welfare of most Men of God in his State and most importantly, he constructed the highest and most beautiful Church Auditorium in the entire West African subregion by any Government Organ. One can now understand why God didn't want his prophecy to go unanswered.

For him to make this prophecy when Obasaki was still in APC shows the level of spirituality he exhibits.

Monica recall also with nostalgia how both Madam Comfort Obi a seasoned Journalist and Publisher including the Edo Chapter of the PDP and many people who couldn't understand the prophesy of this great man of God attacked him and even threatened to report him to the PDP Leadership.

The PDP in Edo said such endorsement from Governor Umahi, a PDP Chieftain is a threat to their party in the forthcoming governorship election in the state.

“This practice you will agree with us is condemnable and smacks of indiscipline and ingratitude. It defeats the spirit of camaraderie that is supposed to exist within a political party. It is a morale-damper and it’s unacceptable,” Dan Orbih, the state chairman of PDP said to the party national chairman, Uche Secondus, in a letter he wrote to him on Umahi.

“Use your office to call Governor Umahi to order so that this open treachery doesn’t become a norm in our great party,” Mr Orbih added.

Monica expressed happiness that it is Mr Orbih, the PDP State Chairman and Nigerians that are today celebrating the victory which Umahi's prophecy played a pivotal role to bring to pass.

Lady Monica Chidinma Ada Eze AKA Ada Ebonyi congratulated Gov. Godwin Obasaki on his well deserved victory and appealed to him to use his second term to work for the total emancipation and development of Edo State as anything short of this will not be acceptable to God and the good people of Edo State who contributed immensely to ensure that that he was able to defeat the very strong forces that never wished him any good.

Lady Monica assured that they will continue to pray for the success of Obaseki's administration in Edo State.

"Let me reassure you that together with our great Governor, we will continue to pray for your great success and to become the best Governor of Edo State after Dr. Samuel Ogbemedia".

Ebonyi State Commissioner for Information, Barr. Uchenna Orji in this Interview with KENNETH OFOMA bares his mind on the multi-billion projects going on in the state and assures that the State Governor Chief David Umahi will not abandon any project before bowing out from office in 2023

Ahead of 2023 when the tenure of his administration will come to an end, do you think the governor will be able to complete the many gigantic projects he initiated talking about nine flyovers, airport, housing, roads, stadium?

Yes, looking at the track records of the Governor David Nweze Umahi, you will appreciate that he is not like any other politician who makes promises and fails.

Looking at the achievements he has attained over these five years that he has been in the office, you will agree with me that all the promises he made; all the projects he started before now, he has finished them before embarking on new projects. You will agree with me that first tenure of the governor came with a lot of promises which he made exactly on May 29, 2015 and people were wondering whether he was going to make this a reality.

He promised flyovers, he promised concrete roads system that will be very durable, he promised a new environment, a new infrastructure that is long lasting. And it was as if it was not going to happen.

But we can see that all the promises he made in the first tenure he has accomplished all of them beyond even the number that he did mention.


So you strongly believe he will do same on the ongoing and new projects being introduced?

Yes, and that brings us to the fact that he is a man of extra ordinary ability. He is not like any other governor; he is an extra ordinary governor in terms of his capacity, in terms of his passion for job.

And so all the new introductions he made, all the new projects that he initiated and that he is still initiating, one will have no doubt the he is going to accomplish them. Yes, I agree with you that it’s really incredibly amazing that he is still promising to do more projects even when he has a lot in his hands.

Can you speak on the ongoing projects?

We are having about 12 flyovers and counting. He has completed about five of them, all other ones are going on as I speak with you. And the airport that he promised to do, four kilometer by four kilometer airport with 3.5 runway, the governor said it’s going to be one of the best fashioned after Abuja and Lagos with a lot of very beautiful facilities.

He is saying that before he bows out in 2023 all the projects are going to be a completed. He is also doing stadium, in addition to the rehabilitated stadium which is the best in the South-East as I speak with you, with very wonderful pavilion that is with a lot of facilities. But he is saying that he is going to complete the stadium within this second tenure

So, I do agree with everything the governor says he will do. The shopping mall is about 90 per cent completed and the biggest mall in Africa at that, obviously by any government in Africa. Like I said all the materials are on ground, they are just fixing it to be 100 per cent.

People felt the International Market, the biggest in the South East and one of the most beautiful in Nigeria wasn’t going to be completed. It has been completed and more extension is being made. If I tell you about the brand new Governor’s Lodge you will appreciate the fact that the governor can do mighty things.

This, I call it three arms zone Government House; three arms zone Government House in the sense that its housing the Governor’s Office, the Governor’s Lodge and the Presidential Lodge.

And that is the most beautiful Government House in Nigeria and by extension the most beautiful Government House in Africa. It’s a beauty to behold, you have to appreciate that.

When the governor said “I will build a befitting worshipping centre for God”, people didn’t understand, I didn’t understand but God gave him the inspiration, the vision, he built the biggest Christian ecumenical centre ever built by any government in Africa; it’s bigger than the National Ecumenical Centre, very beautiful and resplendent like gold.

And so, these are the things that the governor has done which will convince me that whatever he says he will do he will do. God is with him, he has that passion.

Now I can tell you that he has completed four-way tunnel that’s the biggest in Africa, it’s a light tunnel that you need to appreciate its beauty in the night, and I can tell you also that when it was being done people didn’t know what it meant.

At a time they called it a kind of confusion point whereby you don’t know the dimensions, it’s like a multi-faceted structure, four-way light tunnel, drive that’s the biggest, very beautiful. And so these are issues that are telling us that whatever he says he will do God will help him to do it.

As I speak with you virtually all the rural communities are being connected with concrete roads and he does the supervision by himself. He does the supervision day and night and ensures monitoring and evaluation; he ensures quality assurance in all he does both the ones on contract and the ones done by direct labour.

And so these are the indications that the governor is going to really anchor very well by the year 2023 when he will be bowing out.

Don’t you see the dwindling national revenue on the one hand and the politics of succession ahead of 2023 as challenges?

Yes, the challenges to his vision and mission in governance are not unexpected. Incidentally, the challenges are already here with us. The COVID-19 pandemic has brought very low the revenue profile of the state, both the internally generated revenue and the federal allocation.

This was really unexpected and it came at this point that we have a lot of projects across the various nooks and crannies of the state. But I want to say that from what the governor rolled out in his revised budget, which he has just signed, I think he is about one of the first governors that did sign the revised budget in line with international practices and best practices; and I can say that he had to refocus his priorities on the area of agriculture, area of health, education and human capital development.

At least those sectors that will bring about multiplication of job creation propensities and those are the areas that he is looking at. How can he galvanise these that he has really put in place and see how they can be providing revenue, providing job, in creating wealth for the people of Ebonyi State and in so doing we are expecting that in the near future the revenue profile especially the IGR will increase more especially the economic development indices looking at human capital development, looking at increase in their health index, looking at of course education and agriculture, that they will grow and that will enhance our revenue profile, that will enhance the economic development of the state.

So, again I want to also say that the governor is looking at the fact that despite the COVID-19 pandemic that he will do a lot to see how to engage the rural farmers, the rural communities to participate in the various empowerment and agricultural programmes of government
