so as a business owner you will take away ability to choose from the viewers and give it to who? Housemates? Because they don’t have their own sentiments? Viewers o, housemates o, random selection, the winner does not necessarily affect an interesting season, interesting personalities, and creativity from organizers in terms of the content is what gives an entertaining season.

You can’t be using sentiments so pick same type of housemates, do same types of games and don’t expect people to get tired, like me for 3 seasons now I watch sparingly and don’t really enjoy it, but it seems I might enjoy this season because of a lot mix up and different set of personalities, which should be.

You people keep blaming the winners just because your particular idea of entertainment or what entertains you does not appeal to the larger audience.

You pick a rich kid, an I just got back, a big bbl Lagos babe, then a poor lapo kid every season, then you expect Nigerians to not appeal to the lapo kid who is their reality?


But when you pick all lapo kids one season, with different personalities, nepo kids one season with different personalities, middle class with different personalities then another season you mix them up, their realities would offer different entertainment.

You guys should stop heaping blames on winners, no winner was dashed the money, they, at some point worked for the win. And sometimes admit that you are getting older, diminishing return even on your most favorite food happens, let the winners rest, every year people keep blaming the winners for winning their seasons, instead of blaming organizers for doing same thing every year, same type of housemates.

I don't think anyone is blaming winners in this discussion, at least I am not. It wouldn't make sense to because they didnt make themselves winners. We are just identifying the problem with how the organisers are currently selecting winners and comparing it with what the organisers are doing in other countries for the SAME franchise. Watching the other BB especially the US one will make you realise there is a lot of excitement for viewers even if it is the housemates that conspire and scheme to vote for the eventual winner. I know I made the assumption that the goals of the big brother franchise worldwide were the same - Social Experiment. BUT if the Nigerian version is more about making profits from the viewers, who am I to tell them to take a loss? Personally, several years ago, I made a decision not to vote but just to enjoy the housemates and congratulate whomever the viewers chose.

Ah, now I get it. You have a problem with the so called bandwagonism. That is a valid problem, but I don't see how the organizers can solve this without outrightly removing the power to choose winners from the hands of the viewers, which would frankly tank the show.

Unfortunately it is just human nature. There are few original thinkers. Most people are frankly automatons. They simply do what others do without giving it any sincere or deep thought. This cuts right through the type of clothes they wear, their perception of beauty, the religion they practice, the school they send their children to and so on including the people they vote for in reality TV shows.

There is no depth to most people beyond the artificial depth offered by safe collective groupthink. Anybody who wins big brother has to have a critical mass of robots and semi-automatons, an effective mass of bandwagons to win. And frankly I don't see what anybody can do about it without taking power from the viewers which would prove very unpopular and effectively tank the show.

Your line that I bolded is exactly why some are advocating for taking the decision away from viewers. Myself included, we think that is the only way to curb bandwagon and "pay for vote" viewers. As you say, it might tank the show BUT considering that such methods have been adopted in other continents, it is something that we should actually consider. Maybe adapt it if we truly believe it will tank the show. Or use the method once to shock the different parties and revert if it is completely absurd. Unless of course the organisers truly generate a lot of profit from having viewers vote.

You people should rest with all this deserving and undeserving crap. What makes you think one housemates is more deserving than another? Entertainment value, I suppose. But what constitutes entertainment: a sense of humour, being involved in fights,signs of obvious superior intelligence, romantic engagement, competitiveness and strength during tasks, emotional and psychological fortitude in the face of despair? What constitutes entertainment?

Surely there is no consensus about what constitutes objective entertainment. What is entertaining to you may not be entertaining to me. Some watch big brother for the ships, others for the vawulence, yet others for the humdrum, banal, ordinary, everyday, human intercourses like a surprising smile, a long winded, boring, chit chat between two before now complete strangers. Nothing is objectively entertaining.

I personally follow to support the housemates with the the most engaging and compelling storyline. I don't care how you do it. You can smile your way to it, laugh your way to it, fight your way to it, sleep your way to it, scheme your way to it, fvck your way to it, I don't care how you do it, just keep me engaged in your story, and your narrative, and the beautiful, intricate human interactions that has spun around you like a web.

And you would be deserving of the money as far as I am concerned, but I am not so arrogant to think that or to expect everyone to think also that you are deserving. Surely there would be other housemates too who other viewers feel are more deserving than yourself, surely too there would be viewers who think you don't even deserve it at all, all of which would be legitimate reactions but not absolute. If however a vast majority of viewers think like myself and vote you as their winner then our view is absolute and you are absolutely deserving, however you have achieved this.

Because this is the whole point of the game, housemates manipulate , scheme, deceive, lie, do whatever it takes to win over the viewers and to survive as long as possible in the show,they evade evictions, they stay till the last day, they get called on to the stage, they be the winner. If so, then cheers to them, cause they deserve it.

In everything you wrote, what is key is that you are saying you vote for people for a reason which might not be the reason why another voter is voting. Fantastic! Having a different opinion is not a problem. That is how it should be. If enough people have the same opinion, their housemate should win.

The problem people are those people who ask "who are we voting for this week?" "who is our winner?" and then go around spinning reality all the time to benefit their chosen person. And those people who take the whole experience as "business for making profit". They are the problem. Especially when they are able to really affect the results.

Bright, this thing is easy. If you don't want to leave, PARTICIPATE actively! Don't be afraid of being on the chopping block.

Kellyrae just took kassia's spot due to her funny family decision. That thing annoyed me. Kassia owned the fan base and at least had a bit of drama and activity in the house....then they say let's give the husband .....he is the Head of the house...outrageous talk and sentiment...

Ilebaye winning all stars was also underwhelming....it should have been ceecee ...cos even mercy didn't do too much ...but at least she would still have been a worthy winner cos her little sef na large....there were too many top character in all stars for ilebaye to have won...but what can we say...

For me , we would only start seeing true winners when housemates evict and pick the winner..then we would see true game play.

As much as I ended up not liking Phyna, she worked for that win. Probably worked harder than a lot of past winners. Tasks she dey, mouth she get, vawulence was her forte and she come add romance with the “finest” boy. Love triangle abi na quadrangle, she dey. She even did unrequited love. Best friend betrayal…. In short, she should be legendary.

Housemates picking winners go sweet sha but I just hope our Naija method of always looking for ways to beat the system will not make a mess of that system. Imagine if the winner comes out and dashes the people who voted for him/her some cash. Boom, another business done set be that for future housemates.

He's not a game player. He'd have saved her and still be firm with her regarding her feelings towards him. One stone would've been used to kill two birds.

Win the hearts of arisers and make her feel indebted to him while placating her for any unrequited love pain going forward. At least she can't use tears to win fans or HMs against him as viewers can see it as a good settlement.

That would be a rational move I agree but when did rationality earn you brownie points on reality shows?

Hmm, even us on the outside can not 100% predict what the viewers or arisers can do because there is usually no logic with them. I will never forget that girl that made voters take pity on her because of Ludo game. When she was the guilty one oh. Then she came out and told the truth but deed was already done. The innocent party was already punished.

So it is best to live your TV life the way that will make you most comfortable.

AND doing the unthinkable gets you attention. During the minute or two it took him to make a decision, Victory made a decision to come into the light. The even stronger decision in my opinion was not saving Joanna his current crush. Person wey him just dey toast. Person he intends to share bed with. So for me oh, that decision actually made me notice him.
