HOW TO BACKUP OUR ROM

you must accept the fact that something might go wrong along the way. with that in mind i usually recommend this step immediately after rooting. if you wont flash cwm, then i will advice against rooting also.

1. Go to playstore on your phone and download "mobileuncle tools" (you must be rooted for this app to work).

2. once it is installed, download the cwm from this
LINK(link updated)

3. now put the RECOVERY.IMG file inside your memory card directly (not in a folder oooh) and open the mobileuncle tools and choose the Recovery Update option.
www.nairaland.com/attachments/1307428_IMG_201309153641_jpg3c7d4b1b93d5c1c36964009762fbf678

It would be the first one you see on the list.

www.nairaland.com/attachments/1307429_IMG_2013091527692_jpg51c36684437749ab1f86eab35c391435
4. select it and say yes to all it asks..(it wont take advantage of you, I promise).

5. It should reboot into recovery. which is a dark screen with blue text. (in the future, use the power button + volume up button to enter recovery mode)

Now lets back up your phone.

1. you will need at least 2-3GB free space to back up (depending on ur installed app) as well as at least 50% bat3. Use the volume buttons to scroll up and down and the power button/camera button to make selections.

2. once you are in recovery mode, scroll down to backup and restore and select it. next choose the backup option which is usually the first option. Sit back and relax cuz it takes a while. Once that is done, scroll down to go back and den select the reboot phone option to turn your phone back on..

AFTER BACKING UP U CAN FIND D BACKUP IN A FOLDER IN UR SDCARD CALLED ''CLOCKWORKMOD'' USING ANY FILE MANAGER THEN MAKE SURE U ZIP D FOLDER AND KEEP IT EVERYWHERE, AS FOR ME I KEPT MINE INSIDE A P.C, 4 MEMORY CARD....SO I CANT LOSE ANYTHING.... cool
ASK UR ??...... cool

What is ROM?

Short for Read Only Memory, in this case referring to the phone's internal memory where your firmware and applications are stored. When people say they're flashing a new ROM, it means they are flashing a new version of the firmware on to their phone - the two terms are interchangeable.

What is STOCK ROM?

Stock ROM is the ROM default your mobile phone manufacturer. Sure there are some advantages offered, one of which stability. Stock ROM is a ROM that very carefully in a release through various experiments and lab by the manufacturer before it is actually released to the public.

What is CUSTOM ROM?

Custom ROM is a ROM derived from the Stock ROM, which tend to be fast in a release. To the extent that there are developers Custom ROM that gives the term "nightly" for the ROM is still trial and error phase, "RC (Release Candidate)" for the most stable ROM, as well as "stable" for the ROM which is considered to be almost the same stability when compared to parent ROM (Stock ROM).

Why do we use CUSTOM ROM?

Update Frequency

Using a custom ROM usually results in more frequent updates that fix bugs and introduce new features because the developer behind the ROM doesn't have the same procedures and red tape that the manufacturer+carrier combo does.

A quality update can be churned faster because it doesn't involve the bureaucracy of 30 different project managers, 15 vice presidents, and 5 dozen marketing departments.

A ROM developer usually gains a loyal community which beta tests his updates in real life situations and provide feedback, or even fixes bugs - that's the beauty of open source software.

And that ROMs are usually free and supported by optional donations? If you can't afford to pay for it, you don't have to.

Finally, most custom ROMs out there are updateable over the air (OTA) and without reinstalling anything.

Better Performance And Efficiency

Custom ROMs are oftentimes faster, more efficient, and use less memory because:

the developer ripped out useless garbage, such as carrier installed apps or the developer optimized the kernel. For example, an undervolted kernel can provide a much better battery life than the stock one.

Ability To Install Apps To The SD Card

Most custom ROMs nowadays come with the ability to install applications to the SD card, called Apps2SD (or A2SD).
This is currently not possible on stock ROMs, even in Android 2.1 and is supposedly on Google's TODO list.

The Downsides Of Custom ROMs

Clean Wipe

In order to install a custom ROM, you need to perform a clean wipe.
This means you will lose all existing data, so you have to back everything up first.

Potential Problems

Custom ROMs could have bugs… but then so do the stock ones.

You May Void Your Warranty

It's possible that custom rooting will void your warranty because you will "break the seal" on the boot loader by installing a custom rom , so double think when installing a Custom Rom.

THIS IS THE MOST VITAL PART OF THIS TUTORIAL.

now that we ve backed up all our apps we need to backup our imei too incase of any error while wiping data/cache partition or by formatting system using MOBILEUNCLETOOLS...this is d same software we use in updating our CWM....now download below and install then follow d below instruction to backup and restore.

DOWNLOAD MOBILEUNCLETOOLS HERE

BACKING UP AND RESTORING OUR IMEI....

Steps:-

1. Open Mobile Uncle tools app
2. click on IMEI backup and restore
3. first and second option for backup
4. third and fourth option for restore backup
5 then press OK and OK
6 verify of your backup from storage location
7. To restore just follow d steps but choose restore and locate ur backup....

So if there is likely a imei runaway problem, i.e (ur network bar not displaying), all u ve to do is to restore ur backup using mobileuncletools.

BACKING UP

Lets assume that you have installed Titanium Back up (PRO) and that you now need to make your first system and user apps back up. Then open the app and then press the icon at the top right of screen which looks like a page with a tick mark on it,

www.nairaland.com/attachments/1307204_IMG_2013091517875_jpg4268bc76e5e5f84f6a442724430d50a1

then choose "Backup all user app + system data" from the list and hit the "RUN" button to the left of it.

www.nairaland.com/attachments/1307203_IMG_2013091532191_jpgc1b55519be4ef824a1bacd827df6ff60

for backing up you are now done. (Note that if you are a frequent ROM flasher then you might only want to ever back up the USER APPS and data as restoring System apps across ROM is the main culprit of errors from using TItanium Backup. If you decide only to make user app back up then follow this by selecting the "Backup all system data" and on the next screen select the "Deselect all" button, next go through the list of system apps and select only the green coloured items.

------------------------------------------------------

RESTORING after ROM change

After you have done a full wipe and then installed a new ROM you now want to RESTORE your applications and all of their user data, things like settings and user informatio Titanium back up is an excellent tool for this but you MUST be careful not to restore any SYSTEM apps or data otherwise you can run in to trouble and it will cause many "FC's". According the the Official TB user guide: Again, if you’re restoring them from a different phone/ROM, enable the “System data migration” option (found under Menu/Preferences and half way down the screen list to the "Restoration Settings" section).
www.nairaland.com/attachments/1307258_IMG_2013091552649_jpgd256aa3af1c5a2e5ca23bd76a2526d7f
Then open the app and then press the icon at the top right of screen which looks like a page with a tick mark on it, then select BATCH and then scroll down to the RESTORE section and select "Restore missing apps with data". by default the "App+Data" will be checked that leave this option as is for this BATCH task.

Or you can review the list and manually Deselect one by one any apps that you did not want to restore on this occasion.

Or if you only want to restore a few of the apps then "Deselect All" and then manually add each app that you want to restore when you have completed your selections then hit the "Run the batch operation" button at the top.

U CAN ALSO RESTORE ANY APP FROM UR FORMER ROM BACKUP BY EXTRACTING FROM NANDRIOD BACKUP BY PRESSING THE OPTION BUTTON THEN SELECT ANYONE U WOULD LIKE TO RESTORE

BENEFITS OF ROOTING.. .

Automate Everything

You've probably heard of Tasker or greenify, the awesome app that automates just about anything on your phone. You don't need to root your phone to use it, but if you're rooted, it can do a whole lot more. Certain tasks, like toggling 3G, GPS, changing CPU speed, turning the screen on, and others require root access. So, if you want to get the full benefit of an app like Tasker or du ba3 saver, you'll defintely want to root your phone.

-------------------------------------------------------

Boost Your Phone's Speed and Battery Life

You can do a lot of things to speed up your phone and boost its battery life without rootin
g, but with root—as always—you have even more power. For example, with an app like SetCPU you can overclock your phone for better performance, or underclock it for better battery life. You can also use an app like Greenify to automatically hibernate apps you aren't using—perfect for those apps that always want to run in the background when you're not looking.

-------------------------------------------------------

Block Ads in Any App

Look, we of all about advert in some app esp when u r using d ord version of some app like mx player, sybla tv e.t.c ads can get in the way and use up data. If you want to block ads in certain apps or on certain devices, rooting is by far the best way to do so. AFTER ROOTING GET SOME APP LIKE AdFree, AdBlock Plus, and Ad Away to block those advert....

-------------------------------------------------------

Remove Preinstalled Crapware e.g OOBE, ASSISTANT, WONDERZOO, E.T C

Titanium Backup is good for more than just backups, too. It can also uninstall that annoying, battery-draining, space-wasting crapware that comes preinstalled on so many phones these days—and, sadly, this feature is root-only. Freeze them first to make sure your phone operates normally without them, then delete them completely to free up that space. You'll be glad you did.

------------------------------------------------------

Flash a Custom ROM

Okay, so you probably already know about this one—but it's one of the best benefits of rooting. A custom ROM is basically a custom version of Android, and it truly changes how you use your phone. Some merely bring a stock version of Android to non-stock phones, or later versions of Android to phones that don't have it yet. Some add a few handy features, some add lots of really unique features, and some change your operating system from head to toe.

------------------------------------------------------

Truly Own Your Device-U CAN INSTALL ANY TYPE OF FONT APPS IF U DONT LIKE D ABDRIOD DEFAULT FONT.....

In the end, all of this boils down to one thing: you own your device, and you should be able to do with it as you please. Certain manufacturers and carriers try to keep that from happening, but with root access, you truly own your device and open yourself up to all the possibilities other parties try to block. Sure, there's some risk involved, and we don't usually recommend rooting other people's phones, but in the end, you can't put a price on true openness and control.

SO LETS TALK ABOUT HOW TO ROOT PHANTOM A+
Phones › Re: Tecno Phantom A+ Discussion Thread by marcjoe(m):
DISADVANTAGES OF ROOTING!!!

With great power comes great responsibility

Now, say all these advantages have convinced you to root your Android device. But you can do it at your own expense, risking your own mobile security. Here’s why:

1. You can turn your smartphone into a brick. Well, not literally, but if you goof up the rooting process, meaning the code modifications, your phone software can get so damaged that your phone will basically be as useless as a brick.(if u follow the steps i dropped earlier about d rooting carefully, i bet u wont brick ur phone)

2. Your phone warranty turns void. It’s legal to root your phone; however , if you do it, your device gets straight out of warranty. Say you root your phone and some time after that, you experience a phone malfunction – hardware or software related. Because of the Android rooting, the warranty is no longer valid, and the manufacturer will not cover the damages.
