capnies:Do you mean if I reconfigure it even without balancing the cells that this active balancer will do the work? Or do you mean I should just add the balancer to the existing configuration? |
dollarnaira:Interesting. |
dollarnaira:Chief, I can do this thing. I just need your guidance. The 1s is not a problem cos I have a 3.7Voltage Cutoff module that will charge each of the cells fully. The BMS is also a 4S so the issue is solved. The only thing I have picked so far is that I have to configure it to a 4S3P. This wouldn’t be an issue. But how this builder did his configuration is what baffles me. Like I have no freaking idea how he did his configuration but it works for a 12V system. |
dollarnaira:Thanks for this. Pls I asked about balancing the cells. If I, first of all, connect all of them in parallel for balancing, how long will it take for the 12cells to balance? |
@dollarnaira, @Mrreed Pls if I disconnect those cells and parallel them all for Balancing, how long will it take for them to balance? Within 24hours? Days? Week? |
Kaczynski:😭 It’s not my work o. I just opened it and saw the magic too. I only want to know the configuration and probably the name of this exact cells so I can maybe work on them to balance, and increase the system capacity by adding more cells. |
Penuelseun:I see, the BMS the builder used is not an active one. I’m thinking this is the main problem; imbalanced cells. |
dollarnaira:No Boss It’s someone else that built it. I just want to know the configuration he did. The batteries are not strong and so I want to add to it in order to increase its capacity. |
bassdow:Does this help?
|
bassdow:It’s a 20Ah 3.7V cell. For a 768Wh system the best configuration would be 4S3p that’s 60Ah 12.8V. But this one here is not clear to me. If you see from the first image, the bums wire are 4 in numbers meaning it’s a 4S system; but I’m not just sure about his arrangement. I just need clarity on that. Maybe he did not do it well I don’t even know/ But it seems the guy knew me to be somewhat knowledgeable about these things he had to do it this way to confuse me 😭. This guy really do me bad. |
bassdow:Actually, I understand his wiring and so I didn’t include all that part in the picture. But the configuration is not clear to me. I’m thinking he did 6S2P but the bus is obviously a 4S. But I’m not sure, hence why I brought it here It’s a 12V system. |
bassdow:Lols. Abeg o. I’m the one who opened it up. It was sealed. The guy has been in this stuff long before now, in fact it was on Nairaland I got to know about him. But come on, these cells are definitely refurbished. |
Maybe the builder na Seun friend I don’t know 🤧 If I had known about the builders in this thread long b4 now, I would have just saved myself from all this nonesense. This system doesn’t even get to 400wh discharge before it shuts down. |
I can just add extra batteries in parallel to increase its capacity. I just dey chop ban since morning 😫 |
Dollarnaira abeg help. I want to know what configuration and the battery type. With such knowledge I can just add to the battery. |
I have come to realize this from his customers after much research. They complain about the same thing |
The guy sells reused battery bank cos this doesn’t last like it’s rated capacity after testing. |
Seun stop banning me na 😫 Abeg dollarnaira, Valto, Mrreed and other builders, please what configuration is this? I just opened the system. This is supposed to be 4S2P for 768Wh system.
|
dollarnaira:Wow! Thanks Chief. |
dollarnaira:I know he does, but can I just weld three pieces of the same capacity of cells in each of the 2P connection? To make it a 3P connection. Pls I hope you understand my question. |
dollarnaira:Something like this
|
dollarnaira:They are Cylindrical. |
Marykhay:Modified: cell rating is 20AH not 5AH. Thanks in anticipation. |
@dollarnaira, officialfestus, Queed etc. Please I have a very interesting question. So I use a locally constructed system with a 40Ah 12.8 capacity. Each cells are rated 3.2V and 20Ah. They were connected 2p4S connection to give the 40Ah & 12.8V capacity. It’s all working well. But my question is based on the lessons learnt here so far. Can I go and get those quality cells of the same capacity myself at Alaba or even Arena and just connect an extra cell to each of the 2P connections? If I do so, I’ll have 3P4s connection instead of the original 2P4s connection. This will achieve 60Ah 12.8V. Why this it’s important is because to upgrade to another capacity, I’ll spend around 100k of the same capacity. Please let me know if this is feasible considering the fact that there is an existing BMS, Bulk converter etc., in the system. Can I just connect the 4 cells each on the existing 2p connection’s to make it 3S connection without any issue on the system? That’s just the summary of my question. Thanks. Modified: 20AH not 5AH |
Najdorf:Thank you. I do appreciate it your advice🙏. |
Godgivenchild:I appreciate thanks! |
Godgivenchild:Hello, sorry I actually lost that email adress. Please could you advise me here, I will really appreciate it. Especially the part of my age and my chances. Thanks in anticipation. |
Hey guys, trust you are good? I hope this post meets you well. I just need your well-thought-out advice. Below is my profile: Graduating year on transcript: 2022 CGPA:4.22 Course: Mechatronics Engineering Last 2 years CGPA: 4.69 Publication: Conference paper on AI (CNN model) in IEEE. Achievement: BGS of the Department that year Now, I have a paper (I feel very confident in this paper on AI too) that I am currently working on, to be published in high tier journal in order to boost my portfolio. Here is the issue. I am going to be 29 in few months time, and I have not even tried applying to any US schools even though I’ve been asked to. I have this crazy feeling that I should get this 2nd paper published first (and make sure to use it as an opportunity to connect with my long time never-talked-to professor (s) in hoot to get their recommendation letters) before applying, but man, this paper is really taking my time. I am worried that my time might pass me by. Am I wasting my time considering my age and every other thing? Do I really stand a good chance if I apply to a US school? Ps: I have seen schools that waived GRE, so I don’t have it in mind. Thanks. |
