If you are starting paint production as a beginner, it’s better to follow this order:

2️⃣ Oil-based Paints – more technical, but profitable (like gloss & enamel).
3️⃣ Decorative Paints – for beautification and design (like textured & metallic).
4️⃣ Industrial Paints – advanced level, specialized market (like epoxy & bituminous).
👉 This order helps you build skills gradually, reduce mistakes, and grow your business step by step.

3. Decorative Paints – e.g., Gravitex, Stucco, Metallic, Satin, Matte.
4. Industrial Paints – e.g., Epoxy, Bituminous, Marine paint, Auto paint, Anti-rust.

For exterior walls, it’s better to use high-grade emulsion with UV resistance to ensure durability and long-lasting finish.

Production Process

Step 1: Pour the required quantity of clean water into an empty mixing tank.

Step 2: Add Calgon (dispersant) and stir thoroughly to aid smooth mixing.

Step 3: Gradually introduce Titanium Dioxide (TiO₂) while stirring continuously until well dispersed.

Step 4: Add Calcium Carbonate (CaCO₃) slowly and continue stirring to achieve uniform mixing

Step 5: Introduce colour pigments (based on the required shade) and stir until evenly distributed.

Step 6: Add PVA (binder) and stir well to ensure proper adhesion and film-forming properties.

Step 7: Prepare Hydroxyethyl Cellulose (HEC) separately by dissolving it in a small bowl of water, then add gradually into the mixture while stirring thoroughly. This serves as a thickener and stabilizer.


Step 8: Add Genipol/Genipple (emulsifier/wetting agent) and stir.

Step 9: Add Biocide to protect against bacterial growth and stir thoroughly.

Step 10: Adjust the mixture with Ammonia (pH regulator) and stir well.

Step 11: Add Defoamer (if necessary) to control foam.


Step 12: Package the finished product into a 20-litre bucket and seal properly.

Raw Materials and Formulation for 20-Litre Emulsion Paint (Economy Class)

Water (H₂O): 10 litres

Calcium Carbonate (CaCO₃): 15 kg

Titanium Dioxide (TiO₂): 0.3 kg

PVA (Binder): 1 kg

Hydroxyethyl Cellulose (HEC): 100 g (pre-dissolved in water)

Calgon: 100 g

Colour Pigments: As required (100 – 250 g depending on shade intensity)

Ammonia: 100 g (for pH adjustment)

Genipol/Genipple (emulsifier): 250 g

Biocide: 100 g

Defoamer (optional): 250 g
