Rooney has had four go with the goalkeeper this season and he has delayed one or two seconds longer in each of them thereby allowing a defender to catch up. Sometimes you just shoot even if the angle is not so clear. I could forgive him against Tottenham because the season was just starting and fitness was a problem for some. Now it's 6 matches into the season. He looks sharper now, but why can't he shoot?

His first chance today was to his right foot, but he deliberatly waited for the defender to see if he could beat to the right to get a total clearance at goal. His dribbling was even too casual. The obvious decision was to pick an angle and hit quickly. Does a striker delay or hesitate?

The last chance that should have redeemed him a little, he did well to go past the defender, but what on earth was he waiting for? I am suppose to becoming here to be shouting Up Rooney! Up Rooney!
