Most things in life do not come with an instructional manual. But if there ever was a time when one is needed, that is where women are concerned. Yes ladies, they can be very complicated. But, the countless times they've had to put up with the stupid things men say to them can get them really irritated. And men, you know that when you say some foolish words to a lady, it can take decades for them to recover from it. in fact, it might even be there for life. Men, if you've used any of the following words, i bet you still suffering from the consequences till now. In order to educate all the ignorant men out there who are likely to repeat the mistakes of all the men before them, take this seriously and do not say the following words to your girlfriend if you want her to be your wife. Learn to breathe deeply, and then follow up with something from the second list of the most appropriate things to say. MaxNaija.com will be guiding you the phrases and words you should never say to a woman, 1. "I don't really care." Except, you should. And she wants your opinion. So this is not an acceptable response, ever. 3. "You should ask my Mom..." Just no. She will never want to hear from you how she should ask your mother about anything. If she wants your mom's opinion then she will ask her. Do not say this. 3. "You added weight?" Maybe she has. But, there is a better way to bring attention to it. Like...just don't! 4. "Your friends are annoying." Well, so are yours. The things you both have to put up with for the other will never end. Get over it. 5. "She is hot." Again no. Think it all you want, but she doesn't want to think of you liking other women. And if she asks you if you think a girl is attractive, proceed with caution on how you respond my friend. 6. "Are you going to wear that?" Like you have any clue what you are talking about. And, be ready to hear her cry about having nothing to wear as she searches for another 45 minutes for a new outfit. 7. "No." If she asks you to do something for her, and you reply with this, it just won't register in her brain. Literally, won't compute. Just take the garbage out already. 8. "What is the number of guys you have slept with?" Do you want to tell her how many women you have been with? Then why ask her? You both really don't want to know. 9. "Are you gaining weight?" Be ready for no romance until she feels good about herself after you say this. Women don't want to have any form of romance with you if you think they're looking chubby. 10. "My ex-girlfriend..." She doesn't care. She doesn't want to think about your past because she is the only woman that matters. Just don't, Ok? Ok. This Article is a bit lengthy. But it's absolutely worth reading. Whenever you meet a new woman you really like, there usually comes a phase where you can't stop thinking about her. No matter how much you want to distract yourself, she's always on your mind and it drives you crazy when you can't be with her. Now, unless she feels exactly like you, this relationship will head downhill pretty fast. For the sake of this article, let's avoid all the obvious reasons (like incompatibility, cheating, the lack of chemistry, wanting different things etc.) why most relationships usually fail. Instead, let's shift our focus on the male and his behavior. To be precise: how his behavior in the beginning stages of the relationship ruins it. For the majority of men, the start of the relationship will look something like this: boy meets girl, boy becomes mesmerized by the girl, girl notices his sudden change of behavior and starts to pull away, boy tries even harder to win her over, girl loses all interest and gives him the "let's just be friends" talk, boy is confused and heartbroken. And this is usually how many relationships end before they even had a real chance to begin. So, let's take a look at this interaction to see, where it all went wrong. Whenever you meet a girl, don't start fantasizing about what a great and awesome person she is when you hardly know her. You are projecting your fantasies onto her and making her special in your mind. Whether she is special or not is besides the point; because you perceive her as someone very special, you start to give her traits that she probably doesn't even have. The problem with this kind of thinking is that your perception of the other person becomes biased - you only see the positive qualities and totally ignore the other person's flaws. When you finally "wake up" from this state, you are going to be in for a heck of a disappointment. Like every normal person, she has flaws, and she can't possibly live up to your unrealistic expectations. But usually, a woman won't even let you to get to this stage where you can find her flaws. Because you find her so amazing, you will dedicate all your attention to her. And when a woman feels suffocated by a man's attention (someone she just met), she will try to end it right there. That's why so many men fail at this stage - they are too forward with their intentions and come off as desperate and needy. But since it's too late and these guys are at the stage where they feel that they let "the perfect one" slip out of their reach, obsession starts to creep in. They will try even harder to "get her back" and she will try to distance herself even further (obvious hint) until she can't take it anymore and ends it completely. The best thing to do here is to try and keep yourself grounded. Don't let your emotions get the best of you so you can't think straight anymore. Find many distractions that will keep your mind off of her. That's also why gurus in the seduction community advice guys to date many women at the same time - you will have many women to choose from and won't obsess about one. Now, let's assume that instead of all your flaws (your neediness and insecurities) everything works out well and you get to the stage where you become exclusive with a girl. By now you must be in the safe zone, right? Wrong! Since you are still insecure, everything she does without you will seem like a threat to your fragile relationship and this in turn makes you desperate. At this point, when a man becomes desperate, his ugliest behaviors start to surface: he thinks that now since they are in a relationship, he has the right to control her and keep her away from the outside influences that might threaten it. Because he has no real drive in life and she is his only source of happiness, he will do anything to keep it that way. He will go to extreme lengths to keep her from seeing other people or spending time apart from him. This however makes her feel suffocated and she starts to look for a way out of the relationship to get her freedom back; and this is usually where the horror stories start. Like you can see, in both examples the real reason for the failed relationship was the needy and desperate behavior of the man. If he wouldn't have been so overly emotionally invested in the relationship then everything might just have worked out fine. To not fall into this kind of negative mindset, you have to develop a positive attitude. You have to learn that your happiness can't depend on the women you meet. Find a passion for yourself, something that gives you a feeling of independence and accomplishment so you won't need a woman to make yourself happy. When you don't depend on the woman for happiness, you will eliminate neediness from your life and you will have healthy and lasting relationships. internet. The photo shows the first lady carrying out her'womanly' duties by helping her husband pack out of the presidential villa. As the election result trickled in and it became evident that President Goodluck Jonathan had lost, his wife, Dame Patience Jonathan, yesterday commenced the process of moving out of the presidential villa. A Presidency source said she summoned her domestic staff and ordered them to pack her personal belongings in readiness for the change of guard. “By 6pm, the truck had made two trips”, the source reported. It is, however, unknown where the First Lady’s property were transported to. Mrs Jonathan was very visible at the presidential rallies and made vile comments about the president-elect and his party. The decision of the Adamawa state governor, Bala Ngilari to buy two Lexus SUVs for N180million ($900,000) and two Hilux pick up vans at N400million, has triggered outrage from members of the state House of Assembly. On Wednesday, the members passed a resolution calling on the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission to probe the purchases. The House, now split into factions, called on the state government to re-instate the sacked Director General of the state Public Procurement Bureau, Malam Bello Umar, who it said was sacked by the Governor for querying the purchase and for not following due process. Deputy Speaker, Kwamoti Laori, told the house that the state government had sacked the Director General of the state Public Procurement Bureau after whistle-blowing on the executive recklessness. Laori also claimed the Lexus cars were used ones. While a used Lexus armored car can go for about $120,000, a new one usually sells for less than $200,000, online research shows, Maxnaija reports. http://www.maxnaija.com/2015/05/this-nigerian-governor-spent-n400m-on-4.html

Two years after her daughter was shot to death by a classmate in a school bus, her mother Ady Guzman-DeJesus faced her daughter's killer, Jordyn Howe, in court. But what she did then is something that most people have a hard time to understand. She went up to Jordyn, gave him a hug, and agreed that he should get a lower sentence. It can be difficult to imagine how a parent could hug the person who had shot your child to death, but Ady saw an opportunity to give this young teenager a chance instead of putting him behind bars for lifetime from what seems to have been an accident. So what was it that actually happened? It seems that Jordyn had taken his stepfather's gun to school and accidentally shot Ady's daughter. He was showing the gun to his friends on the school bus when he accidentally shot Lourdes in the neck which led to her death. At first, Ady wanted to put the boy behind bars for the rest of his life, but changed her mind when she realized that Jordyn was actually just a kid at the time and had his whole life in front of him. What Ady then came up with was to offer him an opportunity, a way to redeem himself. After Jordyn has spent one year in prison, he will be touring around Florida together with Ady talking about the dangerous of carrying weapons and their tragic story. Ady's decision show how amazingly forgiving people can be, and even if some people can't understand or agree with her decision, being forgiving might be the only way to get over something like this. I wonder how many can still display such act of forgiveness today. How many Nigerians still have such a heart ?, To you reader, can you freely forgive such a person ? We admire Ady for her courage and divine ability to forgive. Rest in peace Lourdes http://www.maxnaija.com/2015/05/mother-embraces-her-daughters-killer-in.html

President Goodluck Jonathan has, for the first time, questioned the results of the March 28 presidential election, maintaining that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is still the dominant party in Nigeria. Jonathan had congratulated Muhammadu Buhari, candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), before the final result was announced but has now said he only did it for the unity of Nigeria. He said the PDP could not have recorded the low scores recorded for him in some areas, and attributed the loss in Benue and Kogi to infighting. The president was speaking on Thursday at the submission of the report of the PDP Presidential Campaign Organisation (PPCO) at the new banquet hall of the presidential villa. Jonathan said: “PDP is still the dominant party. If you look at the result, the difference is just over two million votes. And if you look at the areas where it is perceived that PDP scored so low, PDP couldn’t have gotten those kinds of scores.” He said now that the elections are over, “I put the country first”. That Nigeria is at peace is worth celebrating, Jonathan said, appearing to confirm reports that some western countries had put ships on standby to evacuate their citizens in preparation for a post-election crisis in Nigeria. He said: “The countries that brought ships, everything around us, waiting to evacuate their citizens are happy because there was nobody to evacuate. The country was so tensed but everything has gone down now and I think that is the most important thing because the conviction is that you must have a country before you can run for an office. “Nigeria is a very complex country and you must manage it with care. Yes, I did not consult anybody before I made that phone call but I made that phone call on behalf of all you and on behalf of the PDP.” Jonathan said the PDP remains “the most organized party” and one that is not owned by “anybody”, urging them to put the loss in the 2015 elections behind and bounce back in 2019. “The key thing isn’t whether we lost or won but that Nigeria as a nation must move forward. Political parties can only thrive when there is peace and stability in the country. If there is military intervention, all the parties will disappear,” he said. ”And for PDP whatever happened now is like a slip, you don’t need to go to America to know how power goes from the Democrats to the Republicans… it has almost stabilised. It is like once you serve eight years you are ready to hand over to either the Republicans or the Democrats. So theirs is almost an established setting. But our neighbour Ghana, the present ruling party lost some eight years back and, of course, they came back and won the elections. “So the problem is not whether we lost the elections. That is history now but how do we consolidate our party and move forward? If we are committed and if we work very hard, definitely PDP will bounce back. “PDP is still the dominant party. If you look at the result, the difference is just over two million votes and if you look at the areas where it is perceived that PDP scored so low, PDP couldn’t have gotten those kinds of scores but the elections are over, we put the country first. ”It is not as if Jonathan alone made the sacrifice. It’s all of us. I made the pronouncement but some of us are paying the price. Some people pay more price than I do. I know how some of you are already being persecuted and the kind of situation facing you. The key thing is that we must continue to unite. As a party, we must continue to work hard so that as we go into subsequent elections in 2019, 2023 and so on and so forth, PDP will continue to come up strong. “Even in the interest of the nation, we need PDP. I still believe though we have lost presidential election, some national assembly elections, governorship elections especially in the north, PDP is still the dominant party. Let us not judge PDP by the results of the presidential election. “Our duty is to go back and identify areas of challenges so that the party will come up strong and play the role as a very strong party. PDP is still the most organised party, it is still the party that is not owned by anybody, it is still the party that whatever you are you can get to any level with your competences and so on. “I encourage members of our party to remain loyal to the party, not to be so disillusioned because we lost presidential election and decide to go where they think they will fill their stomachs or something. It is not easy. I have been here for five years plus, you hardly satisfy even 50 per cent of those who work for you. “So those people running and those already cross-carpeting, they will come back on an empty stomach because they (APC) will first touch the primary members of their party, before they get to you, they know you are coming because you are hungry. Before it will get to you, the food will be gone. “So let us be committed to the party. Yes we will have challenges at the beginning but surely we will get to where we want to be.” Ahmadu Ali, former PDP chairman and director-general of the PCO, commended Jonathan for showing “exemplary leadership” and making the PDP proud despite losing. Tony Anenih, chairman of PDP’s board of trustees, said the party that will prepare for the 2019 must be formed now. He said: “We experienced betrayals and conspiracy but let us put all that behind us and work hard to remain a strong and formidable party.” http://www.thecable.ng/just-jonathan-questions-buharis-victory |

When it comes to online dating, you must first ask yourself what you are looking for. Are you looking for someone to be your friend in hopes that something more develops. Are you into just a hook-up? Are you looking for your soul mate but realize that you'll have to go through a number of people to find that match? Some folks are shallow minded, they want someone with certain looks, height, physical attributes, and hair and eye color, someone nice to look at. Okay, but those are not what make a soul mate, you'll need more than that. I was considering this issue as I over head a conversation where one gal was talking about her height with her taller friend, they both didn't want a man shorter than them, because that might not look right. I was thinking that I am 5'10" so about 6-foot with my New Balance sneakers on. I can remember I used to like petite fair ladies as a younger man, but in listening to their conversation, I thought to myself; I always wondered if shorter women were upset looking up the nostrils of their taller boyfriends or husbands? So, maybe height does matter very much, but there are other important things to be cognizant of. Here is a potential list of deal breakers: 1. No Drama 2. No STDs 3. No Man-Haters 4. No Air Heads 5. No Lawyers 6. No Gold Diggers 7. No Drug Addicts 8. No Alcohol Abusers 10. No Negative Women Perhaps, the rest of all the qualities "depend" on the individual you see? Good people are worthy of cutting slack, each individual is an assortment of their observations, experiences, education, genetics, and 5-closest friends. I guess that list and those items are probably common. If you are jumping back into the dating scene and the whole idea of dating again sounds stressful because maybe it has been a long time and you are not even sure you want to go there, realize you really I don't have a choice. You are not alone in being leery about Online Dating, or uncertain about getting back out there again. Being single is a double-edged sword, total freedom, but at times you can tell something is missing. If all that sounds familiar, start making your list, you don't have to publish it in an online dating profile, but keep it handy, too many red flags and you need to bug out, and think. Please consider all this. Read more relationship tips here» » http://www.maxnaija.com/2015/04/10-important-things-you-should-know.html |

Honourable Patrick Obahiagbon on an interview with Punch Newspaper.. Punch - Did you write exams in school in these big words? Hourable- I used such words very-very freely in my exams both at the secondary school and in my university and little wonder I had the misfortune of my English results being seized intermittently in my O’ Levels. WAEC released my results for the other subjects and withheld my English result. This happened for about three years. Twice, I passed the University Matriculation Examination but I could not proceed to the University because of my English results that... were not released. At the end of the day, it was released after the third attempt. Punch- Why do you always use ‘big grammar’? Honourable- I am not really consensus ad idem with those who opine that my idiolect is advertently obfuscative. No no no, it’s just that I am in my elements when the colloquy has to do with the pax nigeriana of our dreams and one necessarily needs to fulminate against the alcibiadian modus vivendi of our prebendal political class. Punch- How do you talk to your wife, children and even your friends? Honourable- I relate with my family and friends very warmly and in an atmosphere of camaraderie, stripped of my confutational habiliment and gladiatorial homilies. I am a very peaceful, calm, level-headed and celestially attuned soul personality. Punch- Is this the way you proposed to your wife, speaking high tech grammar? Honourable- Of course, the business of the day when I interfaced with my wife on matters of the heart had to be in plain Caeser’s language and you can decipher why that had to be so. The matter in view did not permit itself of sphinxian conundrum. Punch- Do you know that many people don’t take you too seriously when you talk because they think you are not communicating? Honourable -Why will I be perturbed from ensconcing myself in the palatable arms of Morpheus because people have deprived themselves of the cultivation of the regime of the mental magnitude? I read all the farrago of baloneys and vacuous bunkum from pepper soup objurgators. The spirit of animadversion remains their fundamental human right. It also remains an indubitable fact that I get millions and millions of requests daily from people all over the world requesting for my verbal mentorship which positive cosmopolitan reactions have assisted my equipoise and righteous sense of pachydermatous garb. I cannot put my nose to the grindstone daily and expect to be understood by those luxuriating in a modus vivendi, verging on pepper souping, goat heading, suyaing, big stouting and isiewulising. Has a philosophical wag not once pontificated that things of the spirit are spiritually discerned and that it takes the deep to call the deep? We will speak more on this matter of critiques and chichi dodo another day. Punch -Why do you pull your trousers up beyond the waist? Honourable -Hahahaha….That trousers style is called Yohji Yamamoto. It was my own audacious statement to remonstrate against the pervasive tendency of Nigerians especially our youths that took to the practice of putting on trousers exposing their lower anatomical contours and I will do it over and over again . Corruption is fast becoming one of those global phenomenon every country is struggling with. Corruption and economic turmoil often go hand-in-hand. In western nations like the United States, and in many European countries, we often see corruption come to light as the result of whistleblowers or journalistic efforts. But in many other areas of the world, however, corruption plays a major role in fostering staggering poverty and broken economic systems in a much more blatant way. Maxnaija will be looking at the Top 10 Most Corrupt Countries In The World . Transparency International developed a comprehensive list of the world’s most corrupt nations last year, and the countries that top the list probably won’t come as much of a surprise to many. The study ranks countries on a scale from 0 to 100, with zero being the most corrupt, and 100 being the least. Here are the most corrupt nations in the world, as ranked by Transparency International, with additional insight into the issues and factors plaguing each one. 1. Somalia Corruption score: 8 Power structure: Almost none; “in the process of building a federal parliamentary republic” – CIA Somalia may just be the most unstable country on the entire planet. The country has become infamous in the United States as being the setting for the Blackhawk Down incident, as well as the country’s pirates who are known to take over passing ships in the Gulf of Aden and Indian Ocean. The country is barely held together by an incredibly loose central government, and is more accurately being run by a number of competing clans and warlords, creating lots of hostility and division. Life in Somalia is notoriously tough. On the economic front, many people make a living from raising livestock or farming, and others from fishing. Of course, with things remaining such a mess at the top of the power structure, any long-term planning for social programs and infrastructure is difficult.According to The World Bank, only 29 percent of the country’s population has been enrolled in school, and life expectancy is only 55 years. Both of these numbers rank well-below most other countries, and provide some insight into the internal strife the country is experiencing. Beyond these things, information on the inner workings of Somalia’s government and its economic system are scarce. That alone is rather telling, as corrupt officials may not want outsiders seeing the true picture of what’s going on inside the country’s borders. Photo by Ed Jones/AFP/Getty Images Photo by Ed Jones/AFP/Getty Images 2. North Korea Corruption score: 8 Power structure: Dictatorship The world’s biggest wildcard is North Korea. There is little doubt in anyone’s mind that the country is immensely corrupt, having been effectively run into the ground over the past half-century by Kim Jong Sun, Kim Jong Il and now Kim Jung Un, all of whom the country’s citizens affectionately have referred to as ‘Supreme Leader’.The CIA lists North Korea’s government as a ‘communist state one-man dictatorship’, with an estimated GDP of $28 billion as of 2009. Notorious for having very little electricity and sending its citizens to prison camps, North Korea’s government and economy are effectively shrouded in mystery. While it does receive aid from countries like China, North Korea obviously has had problems producing enough fuel and food to properly care for its citizens. Military spending far outweighs spending on social programs and aid, mostly to put on appearances for the rest of the world in their famous outbursts of saber-rattling, and to keep citizens in line. The country’s major issues can be traced back to a number of natural disasters and the collapse of the Soviet Union, as the land, people and equipment have all been ‘worn out’ over the years, according to a CNN report. With little hope for change in the near future, North Korea is destined to remain one of the planet’s most corrupt and destitute nations. Photo by Scott Olson/Getty Images Photo by Scott Olson/Getty Images 3. Afghanistan Corruption score: 8 Power structure: Islamic Republic Afghanistan has an incredibly difficult history to try and condense. The area has been inhabited for a very long time — and its geographic location has also put it in the middle of many conflicts over hundreds, if not thousands of years. There’s a reason the country has been stuck with the nickname ‘the graveyard of empires’, as it is incredibly difficult to not only conquer, but to keep under control. The country has been loosely held together by a central government that largely lacks power, and has been carved up by a myriad of local tribal leaders and warlords, as we’ve seen first-hand with the Taliban and Al-Qaeda. The country’s now-former president Hamid Karzai was notoriously corrupt — he’s been recently busted for taking bagfuls of money from the American military, among other things. Afghanistan is also home to an enormous amount of the world’s heroin production, which has brought lots of wealth to a lucky few. The country’s economy has remained in a state of flux for some time now, although the fall of the Taliban has helped — as has a flood of international aid. But it still faces major issues going forward. As the CIA puts it, “Criminality, insecurity, weak governance, lack of infrastructure, and the Afghan Government’s difficulty in extending rule of law to all parts of the country pose challenges to future economic growth.” Photo by Ashraf Shazly/AFP/Getty Images Photo by Ashraf Shazly/AFP/Getty Images 4. Sudan Corruption score: 11 Power structure: Federal Republic One country that has been wrapped thoroughly in the grasp of war for many years is the African nation of Sudan. Long-standing conflicts between competing factions and ethnic groups have destabilized the country’s ability to efficiently operate from an economic standpoint, and the result has been devastating to many of the country’s citizens. South Sudan has also recently broken-off from the rest of the country, taking with it vast oil reserves. CNN reports that Sudan’s GDP was expected to contract by a fair amount due to South Sudan’s departure. The country’s government is listed as a federal republic, which is ruled by the National Congress Party, according to the CIA. The NCP came to power after a coup d’etat in 1989, and has not been able to successfully repair the nation’s issues. As a result of the prolonged instability, Sudan’s GDP has tanked since spiking in 2006, much of which has to do with the situation in South Sudan. Forty-six and a half percent of Sudan’s citizens live under the poverty line, by The World Bank’s calculations. The nation’s GDP stands at $66.55 billion as well. Both of these statistics would likely see improvement if not for some of the draconian and growth-inhibiting policies of the NCP. Also, if Sudan can find a way to rid itself of some of its corrupt officials, many violent conflicts could possibly see resolution as well. Photo by Roberto Schmidt/AFP/Getty Images Photo by Roberto Schmidt/AFP/Getty Images 5. South Sudan Corruption score: 14 Power structure: Republic One of the world’s youngest countries, South Sudan officially declared independence in 2011, following long-standing conflicts with its parent country, Sudan, which gained its independence in 1956. Between the mid-1950s and now, conflicts in the region have resulted in the deaths of as many as 2.5 million people, or so the CIA contends. South Sudan now stands as an independent republic, composed of 10 states. A nation still in its infancy, South Sudan does not have the traditional long-standing government structures in place that many others do. This has led to ripe opportunities for corrupt politicians to step in, and as a result, the country has remained mostly undeveloped, and its citizens participate in a largely subsistence-based economic system. One other issue is the lack of a sense of nationhood among the 200 or so ethnic groups occupying the country. According to The World Bank, the vast majority of South Sudan’s GDP — around 80 percent — is derived from oil exports. This has been a major problem, as international oil companies have been able to take advantage of the nation’s weak governmental structures and regulatory policies, turning huge profits at the expense of the citizens. In fact, 85 percent of the country’s workforce is engaged in non-paid labor. More than half live below the poverty line as well. Photo by Daniel Berehulak/Getty Images Photo by Daniel Berehulak/Getty Images 6. Libya Corruption score: 15 Power structure: Transitional Few nations have experienced as much turmoil over the past few years as Libya. The country’s government saw its downfall during a mass uprising and protest, which ultimately led to protestors parading around with the body of former president Muammar Gaddafi on the streets. The country’s fall was a part of the ‘Arab Spring’, which also saw mass protests in Syria, Egypt and Bahrain, among others. Now, Libya is still embroiled in turmoil. No formal government has taken root, and fighting between rebels and those loyal to the old administration is still taking place. Due to the high levels of uncertainty, the country’s GDP contracted 9.4 percent during 2013, according to The World Bank. The power vacuum has left open a great opportunity for arms dealers and corrupt military higher-ups to take charge and make profits by pitting citizens against each other. Libya currently operates under a transitional government, and both its administrative and judicial systems are vulnerable to a wide variety of outside interference. It’s economy is almost entirely based on energy, which supplies 95 percent of export earnings and 80 percent of the nation’s GDP, per the CIA. Until a new, permanent government can be established, Libya will most likely remain a hotbed of political and economic instability. Photo by Karim Sahib/AFP/Getty Images Photo by Karim Sahib/AFP/Getty Images 7. Iraq Corruption score: 16 Power structure: Federal Parliamentary Constitutional Republic (ostensibly) Many people may be surprised that Iraq isn’t higher on the list of the world’s most corrupt countries, but its certainly up there. It’s no secret the current state of affairs in Iraq is a total mess. After the second American invasion in 15 years, the pullout of U.S. forces has left Iraq a virtual power vacuum, with several different sects fighting for power over the embattled nation. Fighting is mostly concentrated between the Kurds, the Shiites and the Sunnis, but the arrival of ISIS from Syria has added additional issues. The CIA lists Iraq’s government as a parliamentary democracy, but the legitimacy of the government is definitely up for debate. And there’s definitely little debate as to whether or not corruption has taken hold in the country, as Iraq’s vast wealth and natural resources have made it a target for all kinds of industry and war profiteers. Iraq has actually seen some economic growth as the country rebuilds itself, but there is also a lot of outside interference from American and European contracting companies, hired to rebuild infrastructure and tap into the country’s oil reserves. The future of Iraq is probably as uncertain as any country in the world. It’s very possible that the nation will dissolve and turn into three distinct countries, as it was before Europeans entered the fray in the early 20th century. As for now, incredible instability — along with the arrival of ISIS in the north — will keep the country in a state of flux. Uzbekistan Corruption score: 17 Power structure: Republic One of the lesser-traveled nations in the world, Uzbekistan finds itself as one of the world’s messiest countries. From an economic standpoint, things appear to be going alright with 8 percent growth in GDP during 2013. In fact, information from The World Bank indicates the economy of Uzbekistan has remained more or less the same through the financial crisis which has crippled systems in Europe and North America. The nation’s government is set up as a republic with an authoritative presidential figure in Islam Karimov. The vast majority of the country’s power resides within the executive branch, making it ripe for corruption. Karimov has been president since Uzbekistan actually became a country after the fall of the Soviet Union in 1991, winning three straight terms of between five and seven years. Like many other Middle-Eastern authority figures, he has apparently not grown tired of ruling the country. Much of the Uzbek economy relies on agriculture for subsistence, as the entire country is landlocked and experiences a very dry climate. Many multinational corporations have experienced run-ins with the country’s government, having been accused of not following local laws and customs. That hasn’t stopped the administration from trying to attract more business, however, through tax incentives and sometimes even bribery. Photo by -/AFP/Getty Images Photo by -/AFP/Getty Images 9. Turkmenistan Corruption score: 17 Power structure: Presidential Democracy/Authoritarian Turkmenistan resides in a dangerous neighborhood, to say the least. Bordered by Iran, Afghanistan, Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan to the north, the country lies in a virtual hotbed of corrupt states. With the constant turmoil all over the Middle East, it’s been very easy for the country to fall into corrupt affairs, especially concentrated at the top from the authoritarian presidential figure, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedow. The CIA’s file says that Turkmenistan likes to describe itself as a secular democracy and presidential republic, while in practice, its government more closely resembles an authoritarian dictatorship. The country itself was founded as a result of the Soviet Union’s collapse, as so many others in the region, and the resulting power struggle has left the nation highly corrupt and vulnerable to tomfoolery. Also like many other countries in its region, Turkmenistan’s economy is largely based on agriculture and energy. The country is fortunate to have vast reserves of crude oil and natural gas to supplement the economy, although they are controlled by the government. Misuse of the state’s revenues have driven many investors away and led to high levels of corruption. Photo by Joseph Eid/AFP/GettyImages Photo by Joseph Eid/AFP/GettyImages 10. Syria Corruption score: 17 Power structure: Authoritarian Republic One of the world’s oldest countries is, unfortunately, one of the most corrupt. At this point in time, corruption has become the most important issue as well, as civil war has engulfed the country and left thousands dead over the past few years. The uprising in Syria originally began as a part of the ‘Arab Spring’ which saw several dictators across the region fall, but Syria’s leader Bashar Al-Assad has been able to hold on to power through — what many believe — are fixed elections. The situation in Syria has quickly devolved into one of the worst humanitarians situations the world has seen in recent memory. The fighting has also given birth to the terrorist group ISIS, which has hit the road to Iraq to conquer more territory. Syria’s frightening display of government-sponsored violence and corruption has left many across the world awestruck, and has effectively destroyed the nation’s economic systems. Due to the civil war and the awful conditions under the Assad administration, the outlook in Syria is not good. The economy is expected to continue to disintegrate, and there is little hope that the fighting and bloodshed will cease in the near future. Millions of people have been displaced, and millions others are starving or cannot find work. It seems the only way Syria will find a happy ending is with the ultimate overthrow of its leaders and corrupt administration. Photo by Mark Wilson/Getty Images Photo by Mark Wilson/Getty Images Honorable Mention: The United States Corruption score: 73 power structure: Democratic Republic There has to be an honorable mention for the United States, which many people figure has to be the most corrupt nation on Earth. The fact is, the U.S. does have a great deal of corruption in many forms, like lobbying, bribery, gerrymandering, and bought elections. But according to the corruption index, the U.S. pales in comparison to countries in Africa, Asia, and the Middle East. The economic system of the U.S. — although often portrayed as ‘free-market’ — does not quite live up to that description, in many cases. A quick look at the telecom or energy industry shows that many monopolistic forces are at play, and big money oftentimes can get laws rewritten to preserve power and influence. Pressure from big business and labor groups is a major factor in why America is the only major world power without a nationalized healthcare system, and why there has been enormous growth in inequality, particularly as of late. There are definitely many issues the United States needs to work out — from the financial system to elections — but with the status quo firmly set in place, there isn’t much indication that citizens should expect big-time change in the near-term. source - http://www.maxnaija.com/2015/04/top-10-most-corrupt-countries-in-world.html |

Unlike their previous method of releasing videos, they choose to release pictures without the presence of their leader, Shekau..This is fueling reports that, their end is imminent. They have changed their name and now refer to themselves as Wilayat al Sudan al Gharbi, which is commonly translated into English as the 'West African Province' of the Islamic State. The release comes as the Nigerian military claims the insurgents have run out of ammunition and now use bow and arrows. Their stronghold, Sambisa forest was also invaded. However, according to report by Reuters, the military were forced to retreat after 3 vigilante members were killed by landmines. "The soldiers have retreated to Bama because of mines. They had been on the road but that made them vulnerable, so they moved to the bush but there are mines planted there (too)," one soldier, who did not want to be named, revealed. "Three of our boys were killed by a landmine as we progressed into Sambisa. We've suspended going farther," Muhammad Mungonu, a member of a pro-government vigilante, told Reuters. Ok guys, there are different jobs dudes engage in, to make a living. "Man Must Surrvive" . Personally, i think doing the work of a job conductor is one of the most heltic & embarrassing job out there. Imagine that babe you've been eyeing, just bumps into you and unluckily for you enters your bus. hmm, how will you have the liver to face her again? Also, only a day of working, you might probably meet your whole family and friends on the way as its a public stuff that takes you round town. Also, you might be influenced and turned to a typical "Agbero" within days. So if you are the calm and gentle time. how u gonna cope? Finally, you will scream and shout all your voice out, and at the end of the day you will be sounding like someone who swallowed a fat frog. Now, honestly speaking, CAN YOU DO THE WORK OF A BUS CONDUCTOR IF YOU ARE LEFT WITH NO OPTION ? ![]() Courtesy : www.maxnaija.com |

A former governor of Borno State, Ali Modu Sheriff, is expected to appear before anti-graft agency, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, on Thursday. PREMIUM TIMES learnt Tuesday that he has been summoned by the Commission and is expected to report at the agency’s Abuja head office to respond to questions bordering on allegations of “misappropriation, embezzlement of funds and abuse of office while he was governor”. Multiple sources at the anti-graft agency told this newspaper that should Mr. Sheriff fail to show up as directed, he would be declared wanted and then arrested. Our sources said detectives were already on his trail and watching his movement to prevent him from fleeing. Although the specific allegations against the former governor is unclear at this time, this newspaper gathered that the investigation is related with allegations that parts of the N300billion his administration received from the Federation Account between 2003 and 2011 may not have been judiciously spent. The investigation began in 2012 and had been ongoing ever since, our sources said. Mr. Sheriff ruled Borno State on the platform of the defunct All Nigeria Peoples Party [ANPP]. Before then, he was senator between 1999 and 2003 on the ticket of the same party. It remains unclear why Mr. Sheriff is being invited by the anti-graft agency at the tail end of an administration formed by his own party, the Peoples Democratic Party, which he joined only last year. The spokesperson for the EFCC, Wilson Uwujaren, could not be reached to comment for this story. He did not answer or return calls. He also did not respond to a text message seeking comment. Mr. Sheriff too could not be reached. His known mobile telephone was switched off for most of Tuesday and Wednesday. Multiple calls to his spokesperson, Inuwa Bwala, failed to connect. The former governor, who has since fallen out with his successor, Kashim Shetttima, dumped the All Progressives Congress, which he helped formed in 2013. Before leaving the APC, Mr. Sheriff clashed repeatedly with some leaders of the opposition party, including a former governor of Lagos State, Bola Tinubu, who he accused of harbouring dictatorial tendencies. On one occasion, Mr. Sheriff had a shouting match with Mr. Tinubu at a meeting. . Mr. Sheriff told journalists after meeting with President Goodluck Jonathan last year that his defection to the PDP was in Nigeria’s interest. Apparently because of his romance with the ruling party, the PDP Federal Government rebuffed calls for his arrest and prosecution over his alleged link with Boko Haram. Mr. Sheriff, alongside a former Chief of Army Staff, Azubuike Ihejirika, and an unnamed Central Bank of Nigeria official, was named by an Australian hostage negotiator, Stephen Davies, as sponsors of the dreaded terrorist group. Messrs Sheriff and Ihejirika strongly denied the allegations, and Mr. Davies has so far failed to provide evidence of their culpability. In September 2014, despite the allegation against Mr. Sheriff, which the State Security Service claimed it was investigating at the time, the former Borno governor was in President Jonathan’s company during an official visit to Chadian President, Idris Deby, to discuss how to combat insurgency in Nigeria. The opposition APC and some civil society organisations slammed the president for hobnobbing with the ex-governor. But in defence, the president, through his media adviser, Reuben Abati, accused the opposition and other critics of creating false impression that Mr. Sheriff was part of the president’s official delegation to Chad. Banks are funny, when they want to lend you money, they send you very beautiful girls; but when you fail to pay, they send you men with gloomy faces. Na so e suppose to be? MaxNaija |
Short girls are often petite and cute to hold, according to to guys who have dated girls of that particular height range before. But relationship writer, Caithlin Pena says it is way more than that and there are certain things guys need to be aware of when starting a relationship with a girl they are way taller and bigger than. MaxNaija compiles 8 important tips for guys who fell-in love, falling in-love and are hoping to date a shortie: I’m short. That’s a truth that I came to terms with when l turned 13 and realized my reign as one of the tallest girls in elementary school had ended; I just stopped growing. In high school, everyone else loomed over 5’0, but not me. My mother used to tell me not to lose hope, that I had until I was 21 years old to gain a few inches, so I hoped and measured myself every year. I'm proud to say that from a meager 5’0 high school freshman, I grew into a 5’2 twenty-something who, ironically, who happens to be dating a 6’0 giant. Although he thinks the height difference is adorable, here are a few things he probably would have wanted to know before dating a shortie. Bending over will become an art form. Even if we go up on our tip-toes and stretch our arms as far as they can go just to hug you, you still have to bend. You want to kiss us? You either have to sit down or bend down. Meeting the family and realizing that the short height gene runs rampant? We apologize in advance for your future visits to the chiropractor. Your clothes aren't just loose on us; they’re gargantuan. Some guys like it when their girlfriends wear their clothes but on short girls, pair your plain old t-shirt is basically a dress. Pair it with a sparkly belt and high heels and we’re ready for a night out in town. We're perfectly aware of our height, so stop bringing it up! You may think it’s cute and adorable to say, "Aww, babe, you’re so cute and tiny." But hearing it over and over and over again? It just makes some of us more aware of how child-like we look, which brings up insecurities. You don’t want that. And it’s just not nice. We don’t constantly ask about the weather up there, do we? We’ll complain about high heels but wear them anyway. The next time your short girl complains about wearing high heels, just nod and and be sympathetic. High heels can be a BITCH. We know this already but we'll still wear them just for the euphoria of being three inches taller than normal. Besides, you’ll feel get a bit of relief, too — you won't have to bend down so far to kiss us! We need help grabbing the stuff from the higher shelves.Sometimes, we won’t ask for help. (You know, pride and all.) But when even a stepladder still can't get us there, f__k the pride — you are our salvation to fetching that desired box of Lucky Charms from the highest shelf at Target. Please ask before picking us up. We are not toys. Yes, we know you think we’re cute and you want to twirl us around like in a Disney movie, but we’re not a stuffed animal. When people pick me up with no warning, I flip out and flail like a fish, which may result in elbows smashing into your pretty face. Please don’t do this. We like your pretty face and don’t want to be the cause of its destruction. If you really, really want to pick us up, just ask! Don't guess our age. One of the problems vertically-challenged girl friends face is strangers assuming we're younger than we really are. I already have a "youthful face" that's plagued me since high school (people thought I was in middle school.) Pair that with my height and strangers think my boyfriend is dating a 15-year old when, in reality, I'm a year older than him. We’re tougher than we look. Yes, we're cute and adorable and we appreciate you trying to protect us from the big, bad world. But don’t underestimate us; we can fight our own battles and hey, if we have to survive in this tall, tall world, we gotta have tough skin. No fewer than four persons were, weekend, killed at Eleme and Okrika in Rivers State. MaxNaija learnt that two of the deceased were shot dead in Okrika Local Government Area, while two others were killed at Eleme by unknown gunmen. The tragic incident at Eleme, sources said, was due to a clash between two rival cult groups. The All Progressives Congress, APC, in a statement yesterday alleged that its members were still being assassinated in the state by suspected political thugs. Director of Communications of the party’s governorship campaign platform, Mrs Ibim Semenitari, who issued the statement, wondered why members of the party were still being allegedly assassinated. She said: “If they killed APC members on election days, why have they continued to kill after the polls? The unabated killings of APC members in Rivers State raise concerns. “We are afraid that killers and sundry criminals have been imposed on the state and if we are right, then worse days lay ahead for our people. “Since the discredited governorship and House of Assembly elections in Rivers State, killers have swarmed on Ahoada East, hitting down their targets. Recently, Messrs Chigba Apollos and Chiezule German, both members of APC in the area were shot dead in Ibarikpo town by unknown gunmen. Ibarikpo is in Ahoada East Ward 13. “In similar bizarre manner, Thursday last week, Mr. Saturday Wakama was killed and his corpse carried away. Wakama, a popular APC member in Okrika, was a member of the Ijaw Youth Council, IYC, and had championed campaigns for a riverine governor in Rivers State. “This is an indictment on the agencies of state saddled with the responsibility of tackling law breakers. An arrest and prosecution will send strong warning to these outlaws and possibly stem the tide of growing murder of APC members in Rivers State.” At press time, Police had yet to respond to a text message for comment on the incidents.
