The rumors of the notorious Nokia Normandy prototype running on Android has been around for quite some time. Even though the company's Devices and Services division is soon to be acquired by Microsoft, it seems the Normandy rumors continue, suggesting the device might come to live against all odds.
Last month we learned the codenamed Normandy device is supposedto be an entry-level Android smartphone. The leaks suggested Normandy will be reusing the iconic Lumia design and will come in a plethora of different colors, just like the affordable Asha and Lumia phones.
Today the famous tipster @evleaks has posted renders of Normandy running on Android. We get to see a glimpse of Nokia's launcher, particularly the lockscreen, Viber and Skype apps. Judging by the Normandy's status bar, this should be a dual-SIM phone.
Another leaks from today sheds some more light on the alleged Normandy specs. As it turns out someone has put the Normandy through AnTuTu's test, so we can see some of its specs. Nokia RM-980 A110 codenamed Normandy reported featuring a 4" FWVGA display (480x854 pixels), a 5MP rear camera and runs on Android 4.4.1 KitKat. Naturally, the chipset powering the Normandy is Qualcomm Snapdragon.
If Normandy is similar to the previously tipped"Mountain View" Android prototype, then it might be running (as previously suggested) on the Snapdragon 200 chipset (quad-core Cortex-A5/Adreno 203 or quad-core Cortex-A7/Adreno 302).

Some recent rumors suggest the Normandy development is at "full steam ahead" and the smartphone is supposed to hit the shelves this year. Some go even further saying the team working on Normandy (Project N) will stay at Nokia and continue to work on it alongside other devices (such as the alleged Nokia smartwatch) after Microsoft's acquisition is completed.
Now is a good time to take a breath, lower your enthusiasm and take all this with a huge pinch of salt. The entire batch of rumors sounds way too good to be true. Maybe there is something going on at Nokia and some of this is happening, but maybe there isn't. In fact there is a good chance somewhere on the way a tiny rumor has completely gone out of control feeding on the hopes of the loyal fans

Where phone companies like Samsung and Apple stick to their respective operating systems, Android and iOS respectively, Nokia has sought the other path to introduce new smart phones of their brand. FirstSymbian, thenAsha, thenWindows Phoneand nowAndroid– Nokia wants to offer their customers with all variety possible. But certainly with this variety comes a price – Nokia will have a hard time breaking through the walls of Android competition where so many other smart phones are supporting this operating system.
Normandy – the name rumored to have it all. Nokia Normandy is said to have an Android operating system platform for its users. Why did Nokia decide to go Android after all? It is a question that can be answered simply by the level of its market demand. As with previous series of phones that Nokia released, it plans on releasing Normandy with different range of colors. With all the candy colors, Nokia-reliable touch screen and Android, it might not get better than this for most.
Another good news for Nokia lovers. Nokia, though planning to introduce Normandy in the coming year, is seeking to include it in its cheaper cost handset range. Nokia mobile phones are already known for their reliability and longer-lasting capabilities. But with all the smartphones, different tabs introduced into the market, and the Apple hype, it got stuck at the back for quite a while. However, the Finnish company was smart enough to get back on track and launch new mobile phones experimenting with all the operating systems possible. And at last it landed on the Android operating system.
It is yet to see how well it fares with this operating system but given the circumstances, it has high chances of faring well. Android app market has gone beyond the limits previously available. All sorts of applications are available for free and in various versions in its app store.
Moreover, the recently evolving spy applications are also mainly aimed at Android operating systems. Best companies like Mobiespion and MobileSpy that are developing these spy applications features updates regularly for Android OS. Thus parents could find it beneficial to gift their children with a smart phone where monitoring them might not be a challenge at all.
Wishing well to the Finnish company, who knows what operating system they next have on Nokia target platter!

Samsung has been working hard this holiday season and today announced its 8Gb (that's 1GB) LPDDR4 mobile DRAM chip. This is not only the industry first LPDDR4 mobile DRAM, but it's also the first mobile DRAM to fit such a high density (8 gigabits) on a single die. Four of those dies can successfully be combined for a total of 4GB of mobile memory - an amount that so far has not been achieved commercially.
Fabricated on the 20nm manufacturing process, the new mobile LPDDR4 chips are reportedly 50% faster than the fastest LPDDR3 memory on the market, while also consuming 40% less power at 1.1 volts.
Here's what Young-Hyun Jun, executive vice president, memory sales & marketing, Samsung Electronics said regarding the new product.
This next-generation LPDDR4 DRAM will contribute significantly to faster growth of the global mobile DRAM market, which will soon comprise the largest share of the entire DRAM market
The data transfer speeds the new 8Gb LPDDR4 DRAM chip can achieve are 3,200Mbps per pin - twice the speed of currently produced 20nm LPDDR3 DRAM.
Samsung also hints that the resulting 4GB RAM modules will be included in "UHD smartphones, tablets and ultra-slim notebooks," which says something about the jump in smartphone screen resolution during the next year. Perhaps even the upcoming Galaxy S5 may be one of those UHD smartphones.
Mind you, to utilize that kind of memory, the Galaxy S5 will need a 64-bit CPU architecture. Good thing Samsung promises it's 64-bit SoC will be readyin time for the phone's announcement (usually in the first half of the year).
