A word of advice to our Nigerian youth
I am in charge of HR in my firm, I work in a multi-national company and am also a recruitment consultant and I have noticed a trend with our Nigerian youth which needs to be corrected

IF you have an opportunity to work in an organization no matter how much your salary is plan to stay for at least 6-12 months before looking for another job, this will help you BUILD CONSISTENCY AND EXPERIENCE even if you are a teacher or a nanny PLEASE apply this principle. When we sort for staff those are the things that we look for

I participated in a recruitment exercise recently with over 5,000 applications and on the board we were looking for those that have been consistent where they work no matter the field (this method is also used by other organizations when recruiting for vacancies except it is zero experience). The company needed 5 management assist and a head manager, the asst salary was pecked at 150,000 while the managers was pecked at 200,000 age for both post 25-40, most of the applicants have never stayed at a job for up to two years. One of the guys that was eventually selected was a teacher that graduated with 2.2 and had been teaching for 3 years and the guy was good, he had professional certificates, he had taken free online courses, he was currently running his masters in uni-lag and his salary before he was taken was 38,000 and he told us that he started working there with a salary of 15,000 and I called him aside after the selection to know how he was able to pay for all those programs and he told me that when he closes from work he treks for over 1hour home to save 100 every day, he saves 5k monthly and he didn't get home lesson teaching until after a year of working, after 3 months of saving 15k he partnered with a guy that prints recharge card he collects and resell to make a little profit and after a year plus he started his own recharge card business. During his interview he was asked why he stayed that long earning that amount and he said that he started looking for another job after a year and half of working because he wanted to ensure that the company gets her worth from him first and that he believes in longevity, we also choose two guys with 2.1 and a lady with 2.1 and another guy with 3 class, the guy with 3rd class had mastered himself in the area he wanted to go into starting with a salary of 25k and moving to 75,000 in 5 years even though he obtained his masters after two years of working at this last office .

Am not saying that you should accept a job that pays that small all am saying is when you see opportunities like this and you know that you are ready to work, apply if you are taken go there and apply those two principles above and ensure that no matter what increase your knowledge base in whatever area you want to go into and be the best in that office, is might take time but I can assure you will get a better opportunity either in that company or elsewhere.

Be wise now because it is the experiences that you have now that will tell in the future.

Their Office is at Ojodu Berger and they want applicant that reside ONLY at Ogba, Ikeja, Agege, Ojudu Berger and environs ONLY because of the pay and proximity.

They need a customer care person (female only) Certificate Course, Diploma, OND or a part time student can also apply, the person must be presentable and eloquent the pay is N25,000 (Mondays to Friday 8-5:30 and to work one or two Saturdays 10-4pm in every month)

They also need a business developer (male only) HND or BSc holder can apply the pay is N35,000 basic plus commission but the basic is constant (Mondays to Fridays 8-5:30 and to work one or two Saturdays 10-4pm in every month) 1-3 years experience in related field
