Obj Sir, why is it at the time of Senate probe of Electricity and Power from 1999 We are watching you and others. We can not be fooled any more. |
PDP please do not reward evil with evil. We know Apc did not hang the former Pdp president portrait and how they planned to take government by force which Amaechi confirmed. We know how far Apc went to get this power. We voted for them to try them too. We will reconsider next option if we did not get what we expected. |

For me, i think is a welcome development. But, The politicians should start ensuring their children do not go outside the shores of Nigeria for their education, The politicians deploy their children to public schools. Then if the above is implemented, then you can extend it to the teachers in public school. We know the root of the problem so let us address it from the root. |

Nigeria on Thursday warned tens of thousands of people living along one of its main rivers to expect massive flooding as neighbouring Cameroon announced plans to release water from a dam. *File Photo: Flood victims *File Photo: Flood victims The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) said it had been informed that the Lagdo dam in northern Cameroon would be emptying water into the River Benue until November to relieve an excessive build-up. The opening of the dam as well as heavy rain in 2012 led to huge flooding along the river, the main waterway in eastern and central Nigeria. Authorities in northeastern Adamawa state said at least 30 people had been killed and 120,000 displaced, while more than a dozen Cameroonians were reported to have died. NEMA warned populations along the river to be on alert and “ready for evacuation” in case of a possible repeat. It urged local authorities and emergency agencies along the 1,400-kilometre (870-mile) river, the main tributary of the River Niger, to prepare safe locations to move affected communities. - See more at: http://www.vanguardngr.com/2015/08/nigeria-on-alert-for-massive-flooding/#sthash.CboYxCAS.dpuf |

Awka—TWO persons were beheaded at Eziagulu Otu, near the embattled Orient Petroleum Resources Ltd in Anambra East Local Government Area yesterday by armed men suspected to be from Ibaji in Kogi State, who allegedly attacked the people in their farms. Four others, who sustained injuries have been admitted at a private hospital in Onitsha. The attack came barely 24 hours after members of Board of Directors of Orient Petroleum informed Governor Willie Obiano of Anambra State, during a visit, that the company had acquired two new wells in Aguleri and would increase its crude oil production to 3,000 barrels per day in September. Vanguard gathered that the attackers, who were armed to the teeth, took the farmers unawares and as many of them ran into the river, the attackers caught six of them, killing two and injuring four. As the news of the attack reached the people of Aguleri in the upland, all those whose relations went to farm became worried. Shortly after, the victims were brought him. At press time, it could not be ascertained if some people in the area were still missing. SOS One of the distress messages sent to Vanguard during the attack read: “Information reaching our town indicates that Kogi people are attacking Eziagulu Otu and Enugu Otu in several groups and are about to overrun the area and the oil field facilities there.” Another message from the President General of Aguleri read: “Eziagulu Otu is currently under siege by our Kogi neighbours. “I am informed that serious fighting is going on and casualties have been recorded. We are at a disadvantage under their superior fire power. The situation is bad.” Anambra State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Hosea Karma, confirmed the incident, saying his men and the Kogi State Police Command had stepped in to stop further clash. - See more at: http://www.vanguardngr.com/2015/08/2-beheaded-4-injured-in-renewed-anambrakogi-oil-wells-crisis/#sthash.w1HsSeKC.dpu By Vincent Ujumadu |

Wike, PDP’s plot to pull down Amaechi an exercise in futility – Rivers APC Posted date: August 02, 2015 In: Latest, Politics, Press Releases, Slider | comment : 0 Wike, PDP’s plot to pull down Amaechi an exercise in futility – Rivers APC The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers State has accused the state governor, Nyesom Wike, and the state chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) of desperation to pull down immediate past Governor Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi but declared that what they are doing is an exercise in futility. “Afraid of the rising political profile of Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, the Caretaker Governor, Chief Nyesom Wike, and the battered PDP leadership in Rivers State are expending their energies on a doomed plot to drag Amaechi to their inglorious and irrelevant political level. Their sole aim is to rubbish and denigrate Amaechi and present him as unworthy of appointment into the cabinet of President Muhammadu Buhari. They have applied and adopted every unholy and sinister strategy in their devilish plots against a man who did much to build up their political profiles but they will not succeed,” Rivers APC said in the statement signed by the Chairman, Dr. Davies Ibiamu Ikanya. According to the statement issued Sunday in Port Harcourt, “The latest insidious ploy is to engage other misguided PDP leaders like Prince Uche Secondus, the Acting National Chairman of PDP, to device and coordinate the devious plot to ridicule and portray Rt. Hon. Amaechi as a corrupt person and put him in bad light before the public so that he will not be appointed into the cabinet of President Buhari. In this regard, Emma Okah and Spokesman of Wike, Mr. Opunabo Inko-Tariah, have been recruited to reach out to certain persons within and outside Rivers State to initiate, fabricate, conjure, concote, formulate and contrive a damaging report bordering on alleged corrupt practices of Rt. Hon. Amaechi and circulate same to individuals and institutions within Nigeria and abroad with a view to denting the incorruptible character and rising profile of Rt. Hon. Amaechi in order to blackmail and put pressure on President Buhari not to appoint the former governor into his government.” Rivers APC noted that the plot started manifesting almost immediately Chief Wike was wrongly sworn-in as Governor on May 29. “Wike hastily set up a probe panel with the sole agenda of declaring Amaechi a corrupt person, forgetting that he, Wike, is corruption personified judging by his corrupt practices during his days as Chairman of Obio-Akpor Local Government, his tenure as the Chief of Staff under Rt Hon Amaechi and during his hi-tech corruptive regime as Minister of Education,” the statement said. Rivers APC expressed happiness that Nigerians and the international community cannot be deceived as they know that Amaechi is one of the most forthright, transparent and honest leaders in the country today; which explains why he had the courage and moral strength to confront ex-President Goodluck Jonathan and his wife, Dame Patience Jonathan. “We are happy to note that all these are efforts in futility as President Buhari cannot be deceived by Wike and his cohorts whose evil plots against Amaechi are informed by the fact that Amaechi saw to the victory of President Buhari during the March 28th Presidential polls. It will be sad if any sound Nigeria will buy the lies of these misguided fellows against a man who has won assorted awards for running one of the most corruption-free administrations in Nigeria,” Rivers APC said. |

By – Luka Binniyat KADUNA – Kaduna State Governor, Mallam Nasir El Rufai yesterday said that the ongoing pulling down of houses and business premises erected on lands belonging to public institutions in Kaduna and Zaria was not the same as a “demolition exercise “but recovery of government lands”. El Rufai who spoke to the Press through his Spokesman, Samuel Aruwan, said it had become important to stress the difference, because the issue had been politicised. He said: “It has become important to let the public know that what we embarking tomorrow (today) is not the same as demolition. What we are doing is the recovery of lands belonging to schools, hospitals, Libraries etc which some powerful people have carved out and allocated to themselves. “We are doing this because no one has any right to infringe on such lands for his private use to the detriment of the future plans of such institutions. “Look at the Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, it has a very expansive land. Now, the school has developed a 20 year development plan. Had it no land space, how would that be possible? “Those who founded this institutions deliberately obtained such lands with a developmental vision for them. We will not allow such a vision to end as someones property. “Unfortunately some distracters are going about saying this government has nothing than demolition. They are politicising the good intention of this government”, he said. The marked areas in Zaria, which involves hundreds of homes and commercial houses are around Allhudahuda College, Central Market, many marked shops in some part of town. In Kaduna, affected areas are: Sardauna Memorial College, Rimi College, LEA Primary School, Maiduguri Road and LEA primary School Constitution Road. Already, some residents in these areas have started pulling down their buildings on their own. According to some of them they were using the opportunity to remove some fittings, remove roofs and other building material which they would use in the future. - See more at: http://www.vanguardngr.com/2015/08/were-recovering-govt-lands-not-demolition-el-rufai/#sthash.MU9ikIcx.dpuf |

Vandalism, bunkering, major challenges during my tenure – Obasanjo on August 05, 2015 / in News 8:00 am / Comment Abeokuta – Former President Olusegun Obasanjo on Tuesday identified bunkering and vandalism as the “most challenging problems’’ that confronted his eight-year tenure as Nigeria’s President. Obasanjo made the remark at his Hill top residence in Abeokuta when he received Mr Ade Abolurin (rtd), the former Corp Commandant, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corp (NSCDC). He said that in his bid to effectively tackle vandalism, he ensured that he institutionalised the NSCDC through an Act of Parliament. Olusegun Obasanjo Olusegun Obasanjo Obasanjo said he had no regret for doing that because the corp had turned out to be one of the government agencies that “I am very, very proud of.” “Some of the things that I had to confront during my tenure as President of Nigeria were pipeline vandalism, holdup, and stealing of crude oil. “That stealing is what they call bunkering; there is nothing like bunkering, it is outright stealing.” “We used all the available agencies and resources; and your organisation as a voluntary organisation, unpaid, unremunerated, unrecognised and not institutionalised, was doing great job without being armed and without being equipped. “That meant the height of commitment, nationalism, patriotism and service to fatherland and service to humanity. “Of course, I didn’t hesitate to move ahead for an Act of Parliament to be able to organise you into what you are today,” he said. Obasanjo commended Abolurin for leading the organisation to an enviable height. He expressed hope that his successor would be able to maintain, if not improve on the standard left behind by Abolurin. He said: “one of the major problems of this country is lack of continuity. “I hope in your own case and this organisation, there would be continuity; continuity not for the man coming after you to do everything exactly like you have done it. “It is not possible even if the person coming after you is your biological son, he wouldn’t do everything the way you would want to do it. “As I am talking to you, I am also talking to your successor and I believe that where you have taken this organisation to, those coming after you will be able to build over it.” Obasanjo said there were some essential things that should be preserved and maintained, especially the issue of value, integrity, commitment, patriotism. “Those cherished values and virtues that you have maintained in this organisation should be maintained,” he said. Earlier, Abolurin, an indigene of Abeokuta, said he escaped several attempts to assassinate him while office. “The journey was rough, tough and challenging but I was able to stand tall and I am returning a champion and conqueror,” he said and promised to stay in touch with his successor. - See more at: http://www.vanguardngr.com/2015/08/vandalism-bunkering-major-challenges-during-my-tenure-obasanjo/#sthash.8ijqTLug.dpuf http://cdn2.vanguardngr.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/05/300x211xobasanjo-300x211.jpg.pagespeed.ic.6mYhqAM7lA.jpg |
Man beheads wife `to get the evil out of her” on August 05, 2015 / in News 7:05 am / Comments Phoenix – A court in Arizona said on Tuesday that a man who admitted to decapitating his wife and her two dogs in a bloody incident in Phoenix said he was attempting to “get the evil out of her.’’ The prosecutor said Kenneth-Dale Wakefield, 43, also said he had smoked marijuana and the designer drug spice before the gruesome killings in a Phoenix apartment on July 25. The prosecutor said Wakefield, a transient with a history of mental illness, was booked into a Maricopa County jail on Aug. 1 on one-count of first-degree murder and two counts of animal cruelty after being released from a local hospital. The prosecutor said he was held on two million dollars bond and was expected to appear in court for a status conference on Aug. 7. Police said in a court paper that Wakefield said during an interview that he stabbed his 49-year-old wife, Trina Heisch, multiple times before decapitating her and killed the dogs by cutting their heads off. The police added in a probable cause statement filed in Maricopa County Superior Court that Wakefield said he was trying to get the evil out of Trina. Police said the Phoenix man had severed his left arm at the elbow and gouged out one of his eyes before being discovered. It said the blood-splattered scene was found by a neighbour who told police he was checking up on the couple because he knew the man had mental illness issues. It said they entered the home and found the headless Heisch in a bedroom closet along with the two dogs. The police said large amounts of blood was spread across the floors, cabinets and walls of the apartment, and several bloody knives were recovered. The neighbour said when he opened the door of the apartment, he saw Wakefield naked, with part of his arm cut off and his right eye missing, then he called the police. Meanwhile, investigators said both Wakefield and his wife had histories of mental illness, domestic violence and drug abuse. The investigators said Wakefield was arrested in 2003 for attempting to kill a family member, while Heisch was arrested in March for domestic violence as she was alleged to have tried to stab Wakefield. They said family members said during investigation that the two married after meeting in a mental health - See more at: http://www.vanguardngr.com/2015/08/man-beheads-wife-to-get-the-evil-out-of-her/#sthash.qwbkllXd.dpuf |

A-Ibom APC in fresh leadership crisis on August 04, 2015 / in Politics 12:42 am / Comments By Chioma Onuegbu The Akwa Ibom state chapter of the All Progressives Congress APC is locked in another leadership crisis following the recent suspension of 41 officers and party elders. Umana Umana Umana Umana The officers affected by the recent suspension include the chapter chairmen of Essien Udim, Ikot Ekpene, Obot Akara, Onna, Uyo, Etim Ekpo, Ibiono Ibom, Itu, and Ini local councils, deputy chapter chairmen of Nsit Ibom, and Abak local councils, and the Organising Secretary. Others are 11 youth leaders of Ini, Nsit Ibom, Ibiono Ibom, Uyo, Obot Akara, Esit Eket, Eastern Obolo, Essien Udim, Uruan, and Etinan local council, two chapter treasurers, two chapter Secretary, State Ex-Officio Nsit Ibom, Engineer Uduak Okpo Senatorial aspirant Ikot Ekpene, and Mr. Idara Udo candidate Ikot Abasi House of Representatives as well as 10 members of the party. Governorship contest Before now, the first eruption was stirred by the suspension in September, 2014 of 22 local government area chapter chairmen of the party following their agitation that the party be opened to outsiders to compete in the 2015 elections. The party indeed was at a low until late in 2014 when Umana Okon Umana, the former Secretary to the State Government entered the party from the PDP. Mr. Umana contested and won the governorship ticket of the party in a contest that also had a former Military administrator Capt Sam Ewang, and Senator John Akapnudoedeghe. The suspension of the nine local government chapter chairmen and youth leaders who were accused of working for Akpanudodehe against the interest of the party did not come as a surprise given the roles they allegedly played before, during and after the last elections in the state. They were alleged to have been lukewarm towards the party’s governorship campaign following Umana’s emergence as candidate. A number of actions and assertions by sympathisers of Akpanudoedehe were seen as betraying the APC’s goal of winning the last elections. The recent appointment of Engineer Ita Awak, the former publicist to Umana as the Publicity Secretary of the APC has also stoked tension in the state chapter of the party. While some of them view the appointment as a welcome development others, however, are questioning the grounds on which the validly elected Publicity Secretary Mr. Samuel Udobong was suspended, pointing out that suspension or expulsion of all State officers from the party must be ratified by the Leadership of the party in accordance with the guidelines and provisions of the constitution of the party. But reliable sources within the party told Vanguard that the party spokesman had been locked in a face-off with the State Chairman Dr. Amadu Attai over the administration of the party. Atai in a telephone interview, however, explained that Udobong was suspended for making statements in the media that were capable of damaging the image of the party in the state. His words: “The Chapter Chairmen were suspended even before the last elections, the party only ratified their suspension now. It is within the jurisdiction of the state to ratify whatever decision that is taken at the chapter level. “But we suspended the other person (Publicity Secretary Udobong) because he granted an interview to Global Concorde and said that the party will not win elections in the state. That is a terrible offence against the party. He underrated the party. In fact we feel that he may have been compromised too for him to grant such a damaging interview that even an ordinary member of the party could not have done.” Countering, Udobong admitted granting the interview to the said state based newspaper even as he explained that his offence was that he pointed out that the way and manner the state Secretariat was run without carrying all the state officers along was not healthy for the progress and overall interest of the party in Akwa Ibom. Party constitution On his suspension, he said, “the Chairman Amadu Attai and his cohorts should go back and study the party constitution very well for them to understand that the office of the Publicity Secretary is not an appointed position but elective position. So if Ita Awak wants to become the Publicity secretary of the APC in Akwa Ibom state he should wait for the next party congress that will allow him to buy the form, contest for the position and win. “I advise Ita Awak to desist from parading himself as the Publicity Secretary of the APC in Akwa Ibom because I am still the validly elected publicity secretary of my party. He may decide to be the PA media to the State Chairman Amadu Attai since he is a new member in the party but he should know that Amadu Attai has no powers to appoint him or anybody else as State Spokesman or any other state officer of APC” Some party members, however, believe that the unfolding plot is all part of the strategies of the APC to burnish itself ahead of what they believe could be a governorship rerun. - See more at: http://www.vanguardngr.com/2015/08/a-ibom-apc-in-fresh-leadership-crisis/#sthash.RtyChFdN.dpuf |
