Phones › Re: Phone Brands And Longevity: Do Any Really Stand The Test Of Time? by Mobyle: 11:33am On Oct 12, 2025 |
StellaGirlie: One thing I’ve noticed about phone users especially in Nigeria is that everyone has a story about how their phone “used to be perfect” until one day, it just started misbehaving. Overheating. Sudden battery drain. Sluggish performance. Or the classic, a cracked screen that costs almost as much as the phone itself. Every brand claims durability, but when you strip away the marketing, how many truly last beyond the first year without visible decline? That’s what I’ve been thinking about lately and not repairs this time, but longevity. Why do some phones age gracefully, while others start giving attitude after just a few months?
Let’s start with the big names. iPhones are often praised for lasting several years, but that usually comes at a cost which is expensive repairs and, updates that sometimes make older models feel slower. Samsung has the premium build and display quality, but their flagship screens and parts can be ridiculously expensive to replace, and midrange models don’t always share the same durability. Then you have the value-driven players like Infinix, Tecno, realme, Redmi, and OPPO... brands that focus on affordability and practical specs. Some people say they last just as long, others say they age faster because of software optimization and component quality. But in Nigeria’s conditions constant heat, unstable electricity, frequent charging, and dusty environments, these “budget” phones often surprise you. Some users have used a Tecno or Redmi for 3 years with minimal issues, while others have seen high-end devices give up earlier.
So maybe the real question isn’t “which brand is better,” but what makes a phone truly last? Is it the build quality? The software updates? The way the owner uses and maintains it? Or could it be that modern smartphones are designed with an invisible expiry date...? That subtle point where performance starts to decline just enough to make you consider upgrading?
I’m curious to hear from real users, not marketers: 👉 Which phone brand has stood the test of time for you? 👉 Which one looked promising at first but didn’t age well? 👉 And in your experience, does paying more actually guarantee a longer-lasting phone or is it just hype? Let’s be honest and share real experiences. Because in today’s phone market, durability might just be the biggest illusion we’ve all learned to accept. I’ve used TECNO and realme, I still like realme coz Battery life and durability combo, that’s all I care about 😅 |

StellaGirlie: I’ve seen realme pop up a lot lately, but what’s actually making people switch? The specs or just the price? The specs are too good fit the price 😂 |

StellaGirlie: Also curious to hear honest experiences...does realme still perform well after a few months of heavy use? To me Battery + durability + smooth screen is all I need tbh 🤝 |

omotolsy: All of these phones are on china rom.
China rom is good. If you must buy an hyperos phone buy the china hyperos.
For me i will pick the iqoo on your list followed by the oneplus but instead i would go for the Oneplus Nord 5 Global and not the Ace 5 Ultra chinese variant.
Good luck. Omo me I go go for realme o |
Phones › Re: When Buying A Phone, Do You Care About The Colour Or You Just Pick Whatever? by Mobyle: 7:22pm On Aug 24, 2025 |
onlyedwin: I was just thinking about this today… 🤔 When you walk into a phone shop to buy a new device, do you just grab any colour that’s available, or are you the type that must get your preferred colour even if it means waiting or paying extra?
I remember when I got my phone I wanted black, told them and they said it was out of stock, I felt really disappointed and was almost ready to walk away because they didn't have it then miraculously they found a black in their store room. So it got me thinking about the colours phones come in a little more and if it matters to people as it did me.
And yunno these days, phone brands are really giving us variety. Gone are the days when it was just boring black, silver or white. Now we see:
iPhone 15 in Blue, Pink, Yellow, Green, Black
Samsung Galaxy S24 in Onyx Black, Marble Gray, Cobalt Violet, Amber Yellow
Tecno Camon 30 with Glacier Glow and Iceland Basaltic Dark, Camon 40 Glacier white and Emerald lake green
Infinix Zero Ultra in Coslight Silver and Genesis Noir, Note 50 in titanic grey and shadow black
realme C61 in forest green, C75x in Coral pink and oceanic blue, C71 in forest owl or black night
Really interesting colours right? (See names nau😂). The colours alone sometimes make you fall in love with the phone before even checking the specs. ✨So my people, how do you buy your phones?
-Any colour as long as the phone is available? -Or you’re colour-conscious like me and will wait until you find that perfect shade?
Let’s gist. 😅 For me sha I must get my colour o, it has to be something I love. Seriously 😂😂😂 |

Phones › Re: Is Realme C75x Battery Life Actually Reliable? My 3-day Experience by Mobyle: 8:31pm On Aug 03, 2025 |
Angelpraise123: I recently spent a few days testing the Realme C75x, and I wanted to see how the battery holds up in real life — no hype, just practical use.
---
🔋 Battery Performance – Solid Enough for Daily Use
The phone packs a 5,600mAh battery, which is pretty generous compared to many phones in this price range.
With my typical use — WhatsApp, streaming YouTube, browsing, occasional hotspot — it comfortably lasted a full day. On some lighter days, it even stretched into the next morning.
It’s not an immortal battery, so if you’re a heavy gamer or always on max brightness and 5G, you’ll still need to recharge daily.
---
⚡ Charging Speed – Decent for the Price
The C75x supports 45W fast charging — noticeably faster than basic chargers but not ultra‑fast like flagship models.
In my testing, it took roughly an hour to get from 15% to full charge. No excessive heat or charging issues.

✅ Final Thoughts
For anyone who just wants a phone that won’t leave them scrambling for a charger midday, the Realme C75x battery feels dependable. It’s not magic, but it’s solid for moderate users and makes life easier without a power bank every minute. 45W fast charge from 0 to half battery in under 40 minutes |
