There are Engineering graduates who learn welding or plumbing as added value. I know one who is currently with an oil company in the Middle East. He started with an oil servicing company in PH.

An educated person will not practice welding like a local artisan once he has a good grasp of the work. There's a lot more to some of these technical skills which are so well appreciated outside these shores.

But sometimes, it's not from the overseers of the church but the pastors who want promotion by all means.

In my former parish where my husband was the parish pastor, we didn't have many members, the few we had were struggling to eat. So many at times, there was no tithe coming from them.
During one of those days, usher took remittance to Area headquarters, and the head usher said he won't collect because there was no members' tithe.

My husband was called upon, he explained to head usher, the man said lai lai because province will not collect the remittance from him too , that my husband should drop something at least to cover up.
My husband blatantly refused telling him he has put his own tithe, he can't put for members. That province should summon him, he will explain.

It's one lady that later drop 1k as tithe for members.

I know this is RCCG.

It's not easy to pastor a small church but that is the real test of true calling.

We have a parish under our zone presently that is not holding any service, but we still send remittance on their behalf just because their data is on RCCG database.

When Jesus ate with sinners and tax collectors, the Pharisees accused him of dining with sinners, yet he knew the best way to win them over was to blend in with them.

Sometimes we think we're too spiritual to mix with people, engage with them and speak in a way that appeals to them. Context matters a lot and I will encourage you to ask vital questions from a spiritual mentor when you're perplexed about a message.

Relating with people in cordial and respectful manner are ways of God not ways of the world. Jesus showed it by example.

Jesus himself said He is not of this world, meaning he never learnt the language of the world nor choose their ways, yet he was super successful in all he did.

YOU DON'T NEED TO LEARN THE LANGUAGE OF THE WORLD.

The pastors are confused.

God said MY WAYS ARE NOT YOUR WAYS.

They ways of God are quite different from the ways of the world. People are in church because the ways of the world has failed them, the language of the world has corrupted them, they have come to seek therapy. Why send them back to very thing that damaged them?
