I’ll Rather Eat Grass Under Muslim Leader Than Chicken Under Infidel Leader,’ Islamic Scholar Alburhan Defends Tinubu-Shettima Ticket

Islamic scholar Sheikh Musa Salihu Alburhan, an ally of prominent cleric Sheikh Sani Yahaya Jingir, has defended the Muslim-Muslim leadership of President Bola Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima.

Alburhan’s sermon appeared to be a response to Sheikh Nurul Khalil, who had reacted to Sheikh Jingir’s description of Christians as “infidels.”

Alburhan, a member of the leadership of Jama’atu Izalatil Bid’ah Wa Iqamatis Sunnah, headquartered in Jos, Plateau State, said he would rather endure hardship under a Muslim leader than enjoy material comfort under a non-Muslim leader.

“For me, having a Muslim as leader while I eat grass is better than having an infidel as leader while I eat chicken every day,” Alburhan said.

The cleric argued that having Muslims in positions of authority benefits Islam because certain matters that could be harmful to the religion would be concealed or prevented.

“It is written in one of the books, because an infidel will harm my religion. The fact that you are being governed under a Muslim-Muslim arrangement is beneficial. Ninety per cent of things are covered, while only 10 per cent are revealed, all for our good,” he said.

Alburhan said many Muslims had failed to appreciate what he considered the religious benefits of the Muslim-Muslim administration.

“This is something your minds have not considered. People will say we are working for someone, but who is that person? We are not campaigning for Tinubu; we are campaigning for Islam,” he added.

The cleric also disputed claims that the country’s hardship is solely the government’s fault. He argued that some people complaining about suffering were themselves involved in conduct prohibited by Islam, including mistreating their parents and engaging in same-sex relations.

“For me, I would rather have a Muslim president and eat herbs or leaves than have a Christian (Infidel) president and enjoy eating chicken everyday.”

I think the way Christianity is practiced in parts of the North is quite different from what we experience outside the Northern region. They seem to place a stronger emphasis on forgiveness and turning the other cheek, even when they are persecuted by unbelievers. Unfortunately, this can sometimes make them vulnerable to being taken advantage of.

They are weak because you Christians in the south refuse to support them. The Catholic Church prefer to meet Tinubu about election just because of their candidate Peter Obi but never speak about the massacres in Plateau, Benue and others because the majority of the victims are not Catholics but ECWA, COCIN and other indigenous Christian groups.

God even challenged the obstinate humans to look at his creation through the eye of a critic and look again and again and their eye will return to then confused and dazed.

Islam is an elite religion, a religion of scholars. Na because of some Alfas wey dey mk our religion look local. A common poor muslim is way more elitist than a wealthy unbeliever in the eyes of God.

So as a music listener and lover and someone who does zikr all the time i had no choice but to reduce my music to 20%. You can say I stand on “Makrooh (discouraged)”.

The thing is, even if music isn’t necessarily haram but discouraged. Someone who does zikr and Adhkaar a lot and sees results of their prayer usually avoid music fully or partially.

Because music generally interferes with concentration.

Muslim World League secretary-general arrives Abuja for security conference

Mohammed Al-Issa, secretary-general of the Muslim World League, has arrived in Abuja, Nigeria’s capital, for the international conference on security and national unity.

Al-Issa and his delegation were received at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport on Monday by Mohammed Idris, minister of information and national orientation; Ali Pate, minister of health and social welfare; Ahmed Aliyu, governor of Sokoto; and other dignitaries.

The event, organised by Jama’atu Izalatil Bidiah wa Iqamatis Sunnah (JIBWIS Nigeria) in collaboration with the Muslim World League of Saudi Arabia, will be held at the Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Conference Centre in Abuja on Tuesday (today).

The conference is themed ‘International Conference on Security for Sustainable Socio-economic Development’.

Speaking after receiving the Saudi delegation, Garbadeen Mohammad, chairman of the conference’s media and publicity committee, said Al-Issa is a key figure and co-host of the conference.

Mohammad said the conference has a broader focus on socio-economic development, religious inclusivity, tolerance, and peaceful coexistence.

“The fact that it is an Islamic-based organisation does not mean that it is strictly for Islamic development. It is for the development of mankind, humanity as a whole,” Mohammed said.

He added that the Muslim World League’s leadership had convened similar conferences in other continents.

Mohammed added that the programme will feature high-level plenary sessions, expert panels on countering terrorism and armed banditry, building community resilience and promoting sustainable peace, as well as global partnership roundtables focused on advancing sustainable socio-economic development.
