PoliticsDid I Regret Voting Jonathan? by myhelper(op): 11:59am On Mar 31, 2015
So many of my friends have been asking if I regretted campaigning and voting for Goodluck Jonathan and my answer remains NO NO NO AND NO..No single regret..Given the same opportunity again,I ll do it a hundred times over and over again.I WILL NEVER EVER VOTE FOR BUHARI.I am still convinced that Goodluck has the best of intentions for Nigerians..His problem is those that he surrounds himself with..He maybe weak in wielding the big stick .Most of them compromised the system..Coupled with those he assembled to run his campaign..From day one I said it that the team GEJ assembled will run a second 11 to the APC..The strategy was wrong, instead of selling your achievements, they resorted to personal attacks..As I said few days ago,it will be good to see how PDP will behave as an opposition..The outcome of this election is a good lesson to all our politicians.. Gone are the days when Nigerians will be taken for granted.. Lets see how APC will turn things around as promised. .I am pessimistic ..I won't raise my hope..All losers should take their loss in good faith..Nigerians have spoken and that is what matters..it happened in Ghana, while we await the final results,I have my doubts from the results I have seen so far if the PDP can pull this through..IN ALL THIS,NIGERIA MUST BE THE WINNER..Whoever wins will be my PRESIDENT..GOD BLESS NIGERIA.

Science/TechnologyMUST SEE! A Toilet That Uses “poo” To Charge Mobile Phone by myhelper(op): 11:54am On Mar 21, 2015
New innovations and inventions are springing up daily with the use of science and technology. One of such latest innovation is a toilet that uses faeces to charge mobile phones.

According to the story send to BusinessCabal.com, British researchers are developing a self-powered toilet which turns human waste into clean water and even energy to charge mobile phones.
The “nano membrane toilet”, being developed with funding from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, aims to help bring sanitation into the homes of 2.5 billion people still without it in developing countries, without needing water supplies or sewage pipes.

The team at Cranfield University, Bedfordshire, say it could also be used in developed countries, for uses ranging from the military to luxury yachts, the construction industry or even as an odour-free alternative to the toilets widely used at music festivals.

PhD student Jake Larsson, one of the team working on the project, said: “The nano membrane toilet is a project that looks to serve the needs of people in developing countries to stop a major spread of disease, which is inadequate sanitation.

“It is a household scale toilet that produces clean water and manageable, pathogen-free, disposable waste, it’s self-standing, it’s small enough to fit in someone’s home and there’s even a little bit of energy left over to charge a mobile phone.

“It is very diverse. Not only it is for developing countries, but it’s also useful for developed countries, maybe for the military, they’re always in desolate places, or for the construction industry or even for yachts.”

The toilet, activated once the lid is closed, rotates the bowl to carry the waste into a holding tank, maintaining an “odour barrier” to prevent smells, and using a sweep mechanism instead of a flush.

In the tank a “nano membrane” only allows through water molecules, separating it from solid waste and pathogens which are too large to pass through it.

The water which is collected is suitable for irrigating fields, washing or cleaning, and could even be made clean enough to drink, while the solid waste is passed into a gasifier which burns it, producing ash which can be used for agriculture.

Heat from burning the waste produces enough electricity to power the unit, and could even produce a little extra for mobile phone charging.

The Cranfield University team aims to start field testing the toilet in 2016.

RomanceSales Of Condom Increases After South Korea Legalises Adultery-businesscabal.com by myhelper(op): 5:13pm On Mar 16, 2015
The Stock of South Korean biggest condom maker, Unidus Corp. rose up to 15%, after the highest court announced its decision on Thursday to scrap the controversial anti-adultery law.

The court said the law infringed people’s freedom to make their own decisions on sex, and violated the country’s privacy laws.
Adulterers convicted under the law faced up to two years in jail. According to reports in Korean media, more than 50,000 South Koreans have been convicted for cheating on their spouses, and 35,000 were sentenced to jail time.
The anti-adultery law was first passed in 1953 to protect women in the male-dominated society.
It has been challenged three times since 1990, but the Constitutional Court has always upheld it. In 2008, the court struck down a complaint against the law, ruling the prohibition protected social harmony.

RomanceWoman Offers Herself For Marriage As Incentive To Anyone Who Buys Her House by myhelper(op):
News has gone viral online about a smart Indonesian business woman and widower who wants to sell her house with an unusual incentive to the buyer- her hand in marriage. According to story and picture made available to BusinessCabal.com, the house goes for around $75,000. The 40-year-old widower is seen in the picture in front if the house. Read details of the story below.

The Internet ad reads for the most part like a regular house listing, saying that the single-storey property has two bedrooms, two bathrooms, a parking space and a fish pond.
But it also proposes to buyers a “rare offer” — “when you buy this house, you can ask the owner to marry you”, alongside a picture of Wina Lia, a 40-year-old widow and beauty salon owner, leaning against a car in front of the house.

The ad said that terms and conditions apply, and notes the offer is “for serious buyers and non-negotiable”. The house in Sleman, on the island of Java, is on the market for 999 million rupiah (about $75,000).

News of the offer quickly spread among Internet users in social media-crazy Indonesia.

A user on popular online forum said Wina Lia is “quite smart — even though the house will be sold, she will remain the owner.”

But the mother of two explained that she had asked a friend who was a property agent to help her find a buyer — and in the process a husband — but she had expected him to pass on the news to a limited number of people, not put an ad online.

“I told a friend of mine who also works as property agent that if there is a buyer who is a single man or a widower who wants to buy a house, and at the same time look for a wife, he can let me know as I’m also a widow,” she said.

Already, a potential buyer had visited on Wednesday, but she refused to give further details about him.

BusinessHow A Get-rich-quick Scheme Got This Guy Rich Quickly by myhelper(op): 6:39pm On Mar 14, 2015
Lots of get rich quick scheme are all over the place, especially the internet. You know the popular sayings “if it’s too good to be true, it’s probably is”. Well, according to a research by BusinessCabal.com , a 28-year-old went ahead to believe one of those get rich quick scheme and became a millionaire instantly.

Sometimes in January, Martin read about a new startup retail/tech company called Jet.com, which had been holding a contest to get people to sign their friends up for a preview version of its service. The startup promised to give 100,000 shares of the company to the person with the highest number of referrals.
Martin spent $18,000 advertising on sites like Swagbucks and Gifthulk, which reward people for signing up for stuff online. Martin works in IT, but it was actually some family members who had suggested those sites to him — early attempts to advertise with Facebook and Google didn’t get him very far.

Within three weeks, Martin referred more than 8,000 people for Jet.com’s “Insider” program. The startup announced Thursday that Martin was the top-enroller, and it handed over the 100,000 shares.

Funny thing about those 100,000 shares: Though Jet.com isn’t even open to the public yet, the company has already secured $220 million in funding, and it’s on the verge of nearly tripling that investment. Though Jet.com is secretive about its finances, 100,000 shares is easily worth millions of dollars (Fusion.com puts the number as high as $20 million).
Martin says he has no idea how much those shares are worth — but he’ll be happy if he makes back his investment. He noted that the shares are locked up until the company is sold or makes an initial public offering, so he can’t cash out just yet.
“I’m not planning on making any lifestyle changes,” Martin said. “I bought some snow crab legs to celebrate, but that’s about it.”

Jet.com was founded by Diapers.com entrepreneur Marc Lore, who sold his company to Amazon in 2010 for $540 million. The company plans to take on Amazon (AMZN, Tech30) by signing up members for $50 a year. In turn, it will offer super-steep discounts on everything (10% to 15% lower than anywhere else online, Jet.com claims). Think of it like an online version of Costco (COST).

Martin couldn’t give his impressions of the site, though. He said Jet.com gave insiders a sneak peak, but he hasn’t used it himself — he was too focused on signing other people up for the site.
“I’m excited about it, though!” Martin said.

CelebritiesLinda Ikeji Loses $1.2 Million ‘virtual’ Empire by myhelper(op): 11:15pm On Oct 08, 2014
Linda Ikeji, one of Nigeria’s most successful blogger has lost her .com blog due to copyright infringement, violation of cyber law and plagiarism. The 34-year-old ex-model turned blogger, who started ‘gossiping’ about celebrities, entertain and aggregates news from different sources, 8 years ago, has made several millions from her blog. She recently rewarded herself with a N24 million range rover jeep as her birthday gift, amidst critics and well-wishers.

Her blog, which is estimated to be worth $1.2 million, was hosted on Google hosted free platform () and was taken down on Wednesday after several complain and petition were made to Google by different people, especially one ‘@MrAyeDee’ who goes by that name on twitter. In a recent update made by Linda, she shed more light into this

“So something has been going on for the past couple of days that I haven’t reacted to because I wanted to see it play out and see how far these people will go. They have gone far and it’s now time to react.

The only reason this is happening to me is because I’m number one…so I am flattered. I am currently No.10 on Alexa.com, more read than all the other news sites in Nigeria, so I understand why I am the target. If I were them, I’d hate me too…lol.

So here’s what’s going on. Sometime last year, some guys decided it was time to run me out of business (duh, like you can…lol). So they began to spam by blog. And when your blog gets a lot of spam, Google (which hosts my site) can take your blog down. But instead of taking my blog down, Google took my Adsense down for a few months and eventually re-instated it. So they didn’t succeed. These same people started sending strange emails to me…looking for different ways to have access to my blog. But I wouldn’t let them. If they could, they would have hacked it, but they couldn’t so they continued to look for different ways to attack my blog. Please continue…

In April 2014, these guys decided to close down the blog again. In the emails they exchanged back and forth, they said ‘plagiarism is a good excuse to finish her’. (they forget that if they succeed in closing down LIB because I’m on blogger…I could easily start a website). Now let me tell you who these guys are. They are IT people, security experts who know how the internet works. They are hackers and cyber-squatters…and only go after the biggest internet setups.

HealthEbola: Sanitary Purchase On The Rise As Epidemic Threatens Lagosians by myhelper(op): 7:19pm On Aug 06, 2014
Just a few weeks after the deadly Ebola epidemic hit Lagos, top online shopping company: Kaymu reports rise in purchase of sanitary supplies by Lagosians.

Following the demise of Patrick Sawyer, the Liberian born American who arrived at the Murtala Mohammed Airport Lagos on July 20 and died five days later, the awareness about the fatal virus has spread like wild fire.

This can be accredited to the prompt actions taken by the Lagos state government to inform Lagosians about the severity of the virus and the continuous coverage of the situation by local and foreign media.

According to a statement released by Kaymu, online search for hand sanitizer on the platform has increased by 130% in the past week and sales of hand washes and lotions have increased significantly.

Managing Director of Kaymu Nigeria, Evangeline Wiles, stated, “It is very encouraging to see that Lagosians are taking the news of this outbreak seriously. Lagosians and Nigerians in general are advised to take to the precautionary measures communicated by health officials, such as frequently washing hands, to ensure the virus is contained and possibly eradicated.”

The Ebola virus is primarily transmitted through contact with body fluids of infected persons, with the skin and mucous membranes being the main routes of entry. As a result the public is cautioned to sanitize their hands and immediate surroundings as often as possible.

Meanwhile supermarkets in the Lekki area of Lagos State have recorded massive sale of hand sanitizers so much so that the demand far outweighs the supply.

According to the Minister of Health, Prof. Onyebuchi Chukwu, one of the doctors that treated Sawyer, the casualty of the first recorded case of Ebola in the country, had contracted the virus, and about eight other persons who came into contact with Sawyer, and had developed the Ebola symptoms, had been quarantined while 70 others were under surveillance.

86 per cent of parents struggle to keep their kids occupied on plane journeys. British Airways Holidays conducts social experiment, led by Professor Robert Winston, to find the top toys to take a plane.

Parents and experts say ditch the iPad and give youngsters Play-Doh and Loom Bands instead.
https://business-matter.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/07/Pix-2-790x452.jpg

School’s out for most of the country this week and ahead of the great family getaway British Airways Holidays surveyed parents to understand their travel worries and discover the top toys to take on a plane.

British Airways found the biggest concern parents had when flying with their youngsters was keeping them entertained, with 60 per cent of parents revealing they were unable to keep their child occupied for longer than 30 minutes.

The airline conducted a social experiment, placing 30 youngsters on a flight for two hours with a selection of toys. The children, aged two to 10, were given 90 minutes playtime and observed by scientist and TV personality Robert Winston and a team of educational psychologists. Watch the video of the experiment here http://business-matter.com/2014/07/british-airways-top-ten-toys-take-plane/

The surprising findings revealed that it was actually the cheapest toys that kept the children occupied for the longest. Play-Doh and toy-of-the-moment Loom Bands topped the list with 80 per cent of children and 70 per cent of parents saying they

would take these on a flight in the future. Both toys, costing just 74 pence and £1.99 respectively*, kept more than half of the children occupied for longer than 40 minutes.

The most popular toy among two to five year olds was Play-Doh, while Loom Bands were a firm favourite with the five to 10 year olds. Timeless classics such as Lego and Top Trump cards also scored highly with this age group; keeping them entertained for an average of 37 and 33 minutes respectively.

Professor Winston, said: “Although the temptation is for parents to play a film in the hope that their child falls asleep, activity based toys, such as Lego, sticker books and travel games are also a great way to keep them engaged. Bringing out a different toy at regular intervals is guaranteed to keep them quiet for longer than 90 minutes.”

In the poll of 2,000 people a quarter of those surveyed said they worried about their children disturbing other passengers, while more than half were nervous about disrupting their youngster’s sleeping pattern.

Dr Vivian Hill, educational psychologist from the Institute of Education, said: “Toys that spark the imagination and encourage creativity, rather than static toys like soft toys and dolls, are proven to keep children occupied for sustained periods.”

British Airways top ten toys to take on a plane:

Loom Bands
Play-Doh
Lego
Top Trumps
Uno
Usborne Activity Cards
Magnetic travel game
Aquadoodle!
Finger puppets
Sticker book
Dr Vivian Hill shares her top tips for a stress free flight with children:

Have drinks to hand they can sip on for take off and landing so they don’t concentrate on the air pressure; which can affect children more than adults.
Buy new toys and games for the flight as newer toys entertain them for longer.
Bring out different toys at regular intervals. Wrapping them and giving them as presents works really well.
Concentrate on packing activities as opposed to static objects such as dolls and cuddly toys.
Think of games with extended play. Finger puppets and activity cards are both toys that can be drawn out to last a lot longer.
Think about games that you don’t need to carry. Verbal games like I Spy and Twenty Questions are good ways to pass the flight time.
If it’s an evening or night flight take pyjamas. Getting children ready for bed will help avoid disrupting their sleep pattern.
