Now, it came to pass, In that period when men chose their rulers, after the reign of Lucky the son of Igbenedion. A certain man arose from the mount of Auchi whose name was Adams the son of Osho. He was the chief of the publicans and Governor of the province. Adams abode as governor for eight years in Edo.


Behold, During his reign, the man Adams had excelled in speech and utterred many fierce and lofty words. And his oration was honey and wine to the hearts of the people. He ruled the city with a mighty hand and prophesied with a loud voice unto the four walls of the cities; the North, the South, East and West, saying;

"Woe unto the godfathers and naysayers and oligarchists, to the men who have exalted themselves over this city as gods over men. "Again i say woe onto them. "For as the day wipeth out the night, I Adams the son of Osho, shall flush out their reigns, and seize their loincloth.
"With a heavy rod shall i chase them out, and they shall run. I shall break their brass gates, and set their iron bars asunder. And it was so.
That at the end of the Eight year, wherefore Oshomole was to complete his reign, a man called Godwin the son of Obaseki had exalted himself saying " I will be Governor.
At the same time, Iyamu the son of Ize had also exalted himself and said i will be Governor.

Adams had looked up the face of [i]Obaseki and took his hand and kissed it and spake with a voice saying "Fear not, for i am with you, oh thy faithful servant, I shall bear you upon my wings, thy mouth shall speak good tidings, and in my stead thou shalt reign.


And it came to pass, that when the due season for contest came. Adams and Osho went together in one accord, to the outskirts of the cities to the tabernacles, to the villages, and to every field.
Lo, Oshomole had held his companions hand saying with a loud voice;
'"Oh cities of Edo hear ye my counsel, Oh land of my inheritance bear thy comrade's witness, for this is the man whom thou shall vote for a faithful and just man!
"Begone from the man Iyamu for he is vain and double faced.
Cast not thy votes for him for his mouth is slack.
Ye! He has put on the loincloth of a saint but his heart is darker than widow's ash.
Withdraw your firstborne sons, from him, for he dines in the devil's cult.
Withdraw thy daughters, for he is a deformer!


And it came to pass that many people had hearkened unto the voice of Osho the son of Adams. And on the day of reckoning more votes had been casted for Godwin than for Iyamu and he had be crowned governor to reign in Osho's stead.
Behold, at about the second year of the reign of Godwin, and like a dream of the night, after the feast of the old year, the new governor and old governor saw discord together.

The new Governor had called upon the people saying.
" He wants Your gold and Silver and I said nay!!!. No man shall be god over this land, for this is the very cause ye fought for in your reign, and i say it shall stand.

And when it came to the ear of Adams the son of Osho what the new governor had done. He had cried with a loud voice..
" A traitor is on the throne!!. therefore shall my eyes not be allowed to behold the ungodly stand in judgement for long. For yes! He has bitten the finger that fed him bread. And his rainment must be seized!. Another four years thou will not go!

And Godwin the son of obaseki had responded,[i] "I shalll go another".


On the fourth year on the month and on the day when A new adversary was to be chosen to travail with Obaseki. Iyamu had comeforth and said "here i am, i will go. And adams spake softly saying " I am with you.

Now the people of the city had rent their clothes and thrown forth their voice in desolation saying to the old Governor who shall we go with?. Whom shall we believe?. For the Lord God is not the author of confusion, a man whom ye called a leper yesterday, how turneth he now an angel? And the one whom ye called a messiah how turneth he now leper. For dignity is not like the sun that comes and ago. Or like the leopard spots, or like the stars, or the changing seasons Dignity is like the world of the lord that endureth forever.[i][/i]

BUT WHO SHALL THOU VOTE FOR?

STOP It !! OVIE shouted.

I think I will have to spend the night at the living room. He got up sharply with a pillow and bible and left for the room.. Queen began to sob again!!!

The Earlier moments of their marriage was

blissful. Joy and laughter reverberated from all

fours, they played like children. Cooked together,

ate together, prayed and fasted together. And in

the times when they went out, they always wore

matching outfits.Their neighbours and Friends

hailed and nicknamed them TWINS.

On the 13th of March 2020, now making it One

year eight months after their marriage. Elder

Alao, Ovie's father had visited.

"Papa welcome, how is mama and the people at

home? Ovie had asked reclining on the wornout

sofa.

" They are there" Papa said, with a shrug. His

response, lacking feeling.

After some silence, he cleared his throat

"ERM...My son, where is your man-friend?

Who? asked ovie, feigning ignorance.

"The boyfriend you married in place of our

Ekaitte, that sly beautiful man denying us of the

joys of parents of sons your age. Denying us of

the cries of grandchildren, where is she?

"What boyfrie.....Papa I do not understand you. 

Said Ovie, defiantly looking straight.

" How will you understand! Shouted Papa. And

then more calmly he said "You won't understand

my son, are you not wise? Take a look at my

head, can you not see it is full of grey hairs?, are

my eyes going to go dim, too dim for sight before

you release my grandchildren for me? , are we

going to wait yet again? Have we not waited

enough? after your university, you took eight

years, Eight good years! to settle down, did I

bother you? No. Did I say Pimmm? Now that you

finally decided to settle, you chose a fellow man,

Tufiaa!! spat papa.



"Papaaaa, Ovie Dragged , "Queen and I are very

happy together, please my wife is not a man.It is

God that gives children. She is asleep now and I

wouldn't want her to wake up hearing all of these.

Baba swallowed. His stare was cold and

resentful, when he finally spoke his voice shook.

But he was calm

" Your wife's welfare matters to you more than

your father's. Baba was looking at him as though

he had become deformed suddenly, as though

the statement had transformed him, that

instance into something grotesque and

subhuman.

No papa, I mean....ok ..are you and mama not

happy that I am I am happy?

Son, Your happiness is not normal? We your

parents are not happy, It is going to Two Years

now Son! can't you see she has kept you in her

breast pocket.....


After papa left,(too disgusted to spend the night),

Ovie had sighed in relief, happy that queen had

not seen or heard papa.

Only for her to wake him up in the middle of the

night, dabbing at her eyelids with a scarf.

Sobbing.

"Dear, what's wrong, Ovie asked rising up, his

voice thick with foreboding.

"What's wrong? Queen grimaced, "you ask me

what's wrong, Ovie...? What's wrong? Your father

came here and insulted the living day light out of

me. You sit.there, and dare ask.m..


"You were awake? Interrupted ovie, blinking too fast. Obviously suprised.


Queen continued to speak tearfully, "papa called

ME,...ME; Iyanuoluwa Queen Florence, a man,,, a

beautiful man, she beat her chest and wagged a

finger at Ovie. "Whereas his son has refused to

touch me since we married, almost two years

years now, we have never made love, Ovie? What

did I do wrong? Do I smell? does my body irritate

you? Tell me, Is my breath bad? Darling. why

have we stalled?, am I not appealing, am I...

"Stop it! Queen just stop. Said Ovie, sitting up. "I

love you, nothing is wrong with you. Look we are

happy, we are happy, you see I told you on our

wedding night. I told you let's leave it this way.....






"Agggh just listen to yourself Ovie. Queen

shouted. "how can we leave it this way? How

would we bear children?  and prove papa wrong? 

"I am the talk of the town Ovie, people call me

barren unjustly because of you Ovie! even my

parents are asking questions.

She stared at him for some time. Sniffing at

intervals..." Then she begun to draw closer to him

twitching her body suggestively;

Touch me ovie, make me feel like a woman, kiss

me, come close...

STOP IT QUEEN!!! Look let me be straight with you, I...I cant do this...

Short Story fiction

Name: The Weird Debate.


This is the story of Ovie and Queen. A most

wonderful couple they were. They were

compatible, and shared so many similarities,

physically and otherwise. Ovie Oghenekaro was

light skinned tall and towering, about six feets in

height, was a devout christian, and was in fact

the youth president of the zonal branch of Light

Of The World Assembly Church Benin city,

located at the heart of town. Queen also was just

as tall and light skinned, and had been, before

her marriage, the decoration unit's head

coordinator of Jesus For Life Ministries, before

switching to her husband's church after tying the

knot.

Theirs was the  religiously iconic "Love at


firstsight"

drama, . They had met during an inter-

denominational church conference, organised by

Living Saints Church International, at an

anointing service tagged; "Hour Of Marital

Breakthrough". Ovie was sitting in front with his

Bible and writing materials on his laps. On his

left hand side was Queen dressed in a pink floral

dress, with her writing materials handy too.

During the ministration Pastor James the

resident pastor of living saints; a fierce

personality and an eloquent speaker , had leaped

in his sharp shouldered suit, Saying "shake your

neighbour's hand and tell him or her you are

looking really good". Ovie had looked at Queen

and Queen at Ovie. They had both smiled warmly,

and their smiles had persevered, bashful

lingering smiles that held new meanings for

them. Later, after service they had exchanged

phone numbers, some weeks after, house

addresses were exchanged, and about two

months later, they had proceeded to exchanging

rings and marital vows, standing on the glittery

church podium. Besieged by an audience of

smiling, beaming and clapping family members and well wishers.
Then.....
on their wedding night. Ovie had beckoned on Queen.
" I want to tell you something" He said.

Queen came closer...

Ovie whispered in her ear...

Queen stood up, sharply as though stung by an ant she had backed away from

him, looking down at him in horror.

"What? Why? She managed to say.

"Nothing.. Let's just leave it that way for now.

ovie said calmly

Trust me...Just trust me. Said ovie.

"But why" queen maintained.

"Sit down. Said ovie.

Queen obeyed she  sat down next to him. the bed

made a creak, He drew her close, then gently he

made her place her head on his shoulder and

began to stroke her hair..........
