CrimeTension In Jos Over 200 Missing Cows by naijadole(op): 8:13am On Jan 19, 2018
There was confusion on Thursday at the Headquarters of the Special Military Taskforce, codenamed ‘Operation Safe Haven’ in Jos, Plateau State over alleged theft of 209 cows by suspected rustlers. The Commander of OPSH, Maj. Gen. Anthony Atolagbe, had stated that 200 cows were missing, out of which 100 had been recovered and 20 found dead. He added that some of the suspects had been arrested. But the spokesman for the agency, Maj. Umar Adams, said no arrest had been made. Adams said, “Up till now, there is no arrest; the security operatives are still on their trail and so far, they are still recovering more of the cows. They recovered about five cows and one sheep yesterday (Wednesday) while on the trail of the rustlers.” When reminded of the statement from the OPSH Commander, he said, “I am not aware of any statement. The only statement I am aware of is the one I am telling you now and no arrest has been made. “However, our personnel have been deployed and they are carrying out raids to ensure that they arrest the perpetrators. And in the course of the operation, they have been able to recover about five cows and one sheep. For now, there has been no arrest.” Unofficial sources said 20 persons had been arrested for cow rustling in the state. Although information about the suspects was still sketchy, it was learnt that they cut across Hausa, Fulani and some other ethnic groups in Plateau State. A source said, “Over 20 suspects have been arrested by security operatives in connection with the stealing of cows and they are currently being detained at the headquarters of OPSH in Jos. As soon as investigations are concluded, they will be handed over to the appropriate agencies for prosecution.” A statement issued in Jos by the Chief of Staff to the OPSH, Brig. Gen. A.M. Bello, also said some suspects were arrested and investigations were ongoing. According to him, contrary to reports, there had been no tension in Plateau State, following alleged threats by the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria in the state over an alleged attack on their kinsmen and the rustling of 350 cows belonging to their people. Bello described the rumour as “unfounded, misplaced and out of reality and should therefore be disregarded.”

CrimeBomb Explosion Injures 29... by naijadole(op): 12:02pm On Sep 18, 2016
A bomb explosion in the Chelsea neigbourhood of New York City has injured twenty-nine people.
According to authorities the explosion which occurred on Saturday night, was being investigated as a criminal act, and not immediately linked to any terror organization.
Mayor of New York City Bill de Blasio and other city officials said a natural gas leak has been ruled out by investigators as the origin of the blast, but they stopped short of calling it a bombing and declined to specify precisely what they believed may have triggered the explosion.

“There is no evidence at this point of a terror connection,” the mayor said at a news conference about three hours after the blast. He added, “There is no specific and credible threat against New York City at this point in time from any terror organization.”
A White House official said President Barack Obama, “has been apprised of the explosion in New York City, the cause of which remains under investigation”
“The president will be updated as additional information becomes available,” the official added.

PoliticsLai Mohammed LIES Again. by naijadole(op): 9:04am On Sep 17, 2016
The Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed has said Nigerians have been unfair to the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari and have failed to give it the commendation it deserves.
In a recent interview with Punch, the minister said the government is not being credited for still managing Nigeria’s economy well enough, even though some of her peers who are also experiencing economic
recession are already sinking. He said, “Nobody is even giving us credit for being able to keep the ship of the state afloat. In Venezuela, which has a similar story like ours and has one of the world’s largest deposits of oil reserve, their leaders squandered all the money. Today, people are queuing up to buy soaps there. We are not saying people should start singing our praise for no reason, no, we are aware of the enormity of the challenges but we are up to the task.”

Mohammed also spoke on the perceived lopsidedness of the Buhari administration’s appointments.
He denied that any ethnic group was being favoured over the others, stating that a critical look will reveal that the appointments have been shared equally.
“In North-West, there have been 51 appointments; North-Central, 46; North-East, 45; South-East, 41; South-West, 45; and South-South, 45. Meanwhile, North-West has seven states, South-East, five states. If 41 appointments are made from the South-East and you divide by five, it is roughly eight per state. If you divide 45 in the South-West by the six states there, you get less than eight. If you divide North-West that has 51 by seven, you get just about seven. So what are we saying?” he said.

PoliticsNigerians Will Never Experience Change If …… Mbaka Tells Buhari by naijadole(op): 5:55pm On Sep 13, 2016
Outspoken Catholic Priest, Rev. Father Ejike Mbaka has said the President Buhari adminsitration’s change was yet to be experienced by Nigerians because the same corrupt individuals who almost destroyed the country in the past were in his government.
Mbaka said this while speaking to newsmen during the graduation of Niger Delta youths, who trained at Innoson Plastic Factory under Federal Government’s Amnesty Programme in Enugu.

He said the president was working with people who don’t want his administration to succeed, stating that he was still holding on to elements from the past government.
Mbaka said he was yet to see the desired change promised by the administration but also urged Nigerians to be patient.
“Many people who are in different strategic positions are still the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) people and Buhari may not even know and even some people who are working around him are working to pull him down.
“Buhari means well, Buhari is a good man, Buhari is God-sent for this country but, I am telling you that there are crocodiles in the fish pond.
“Buhari may not know that he is feeding not the fish in the fishpond but crocodiles that are even feeding on the fishes!”
Mbaka asked Nigerians to pray for divine intervention for the country.
His words, “Nigerians should go on their knees and pray for divine intervention because apart from God, we are going to see horrible things.
“The way these people are ganging up, they want to break Nigeria and take over power and take us back to where we were coming from. I pray it shall be well with Nigeria and it shall be well with Nigerians.”

EducationAlarming Rate Of Examination Question Papers Leakage In Unijos.. by naijadole(op): 4:37pm On Sep 13, 2016
I am a student of University of Jos and it pains me that I have to write this piece. Unijos was one time the best university in Nigeria and among the first twenty in Africa. So the question now is what went wrong? what is the university authority not getting right?. Sometimes I seat with consternation and ask myself many question which I have failed to find answers to.

Before gaining admission into the University, I thought examination question papers leakage is only synonymous to WAEC and NECO but to my greatest surprise this shameful act has rear its ugly head in my dear University of Jos.
The first time I came across a leaked question paper was in my 200 level and it was a course in Psychology department of the University. At first I said to the students that brought the question to the Naraguta Hostel of the university that the question paper is fake and they should better go and study their books to avoid carrying over the course which is a 4 credit load course. Christianity EtcRead Appeal Court's Judgment On The Use Of Hijabs In Lagos. by naijadole(op): 5:31pm On Jul 21, 2016
.
Christians and Muslims have been slugging it out over a court ruling that favoured the use of hijab by students of public schools
– Appeal court says the purported ban on hijabs in Lagos is a violation of fundamental rights of students
– Students reportedly made this case on behalf of the students who felt offended The ban on the use of hijabs in Lagos state schools has been removed, Daily Trust has confirmed
. According to reports, the court of appeal in Lagos state set aside the judgment of a Lagos state high court which had banned the use of hijab in the state’s public primary and secondary schools. The judgment stated that the ban on the hijab is a violation of the fundamental rights of the Muslim students, with Justice Modupe Onyeaboron (of the state high court) had in October 17, 2014, dismissed a suit filed by Muslim Students Society of Nigeria (MSSN) in the state over the same issue.
MSSN in the suit, explained that two 15-year old students expressed their discomfort with the ban which they claimed violated their constitutional rights to freedom of thought, religion and education. It was gathered also that the prohibition of hijab over school uniforms within and outside the premises of public schools was not discriminatory in any way. And since the decision did not favour them, the students decided to file an appeal, which has been reportedly ruled in their favour. Meanwhile, in Osun state a high court has thrown away a suit filed against the state chapter of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) on the basis that the association had instituted a stay of execution at the Court of Appeal of the June 3 judgment which allowed Muslim students freedom to wear hijab approved by the state government to public schools. The Christian association made this known on Tuesday, July 19, 2016 at the resumed hearing of the case before Justice Jide Falola of an Osun state high court. Justice Jide Falola, who abandoned the on-going judicial recess to attend to the case due to its importance, gave a brief ruling in which he struck out the case on the argument that the state Christian community had approached the appellate court to sit on the matter.

Christianity EtcA Must Read: Is Jehovah The Name Of God? by naijadole(op): 11:03am On Jul 06, 2016
In Hebrew the name of God is spelled YHWH. Since ancient Hebrew had no written vowels, it is uncertain how the name was pronounced originally, but there are records of the name in Greek, which did have written vowels. These records indicate that in all likelihood the name should be pronounced "Yahweh."
Shortly before the first century A.D., it became common for Jews to avoid saying the divine name for fear of misusing it and breaking the second commandment ("You shall not take the name of the Lord, your God, in vain," Dt 5:11). Whenever they read Scripture aloud and encountered the divine name, they substituted another Hebrew word, "Adonai" (which means "Lord" or "my Lord"wink, in its place.
Eventually Hebrew developed written vowels, which appeared as small marks called vowel points and were placed above and below the consonants of a word. In the sixth or seventh century some Jews began to place the vowel points for "Adonai" over the consonants for "Yahweh" to remind the reader of Scripture to say "Adonai" whenever he read "Yahweh."

About the 13th century the term "Jehovah" appeared when Christian scholars took the consonants of "Yahweh" and pronounced it with the vowels of "Adonai." This resulted in the sound "Yahowah," which has a Latinized spelling of "Jehovah." The first recorded use of this spelling was made by a Spanish Dominican monk, Raymundus Martini, in 1270.
Interestingly, this fact is admitted in much Jehovah's Witness literature, such as their Aid to Bible Understanding (p. 885). This is surprising because Jehovah's Witnesses loathe the Catholic Church and have done everything in their power to strip their church of traces of Catholicism. Despite this, their group's very name contains a Catholic "invention," the name "Jehovah."
Jehovah's Witnesses blast orthodox Christendom for "hiding the name of God" by replacing "Jehovah" with "the Lord" whenever "Jehovah" appears in Scripture. They charge this is a Jewish "superstition" that dishonors God (which it does not). Yet their own organization has a name that was invented as a result of the same thinking that produced use of "the Lord."

Questions for Jehovah's Witnesses to answer:

How can "Jehovah" be the name of God since neither Hebrew, Greek, Latin don't even have a letter "J" and English did not have the letter J before about 1500 AD?
If the name Jehovah is so important, then why is it never used in the entire Greek New Testament? If men edited out the name of God, "YHWH" when they copied the New Testament, as only the Watchtower organization claims, then how can we have any confidence in any of the New Testament? Should we discard the......
