According to Charles De Lin: "Every time you do a good deed you shine the light a little farther into the dark. And the thing is, when you're gone, that light will keep shining on, pushing the shadows back." The words of this philosopher are reflective of the story of Chief Moritz Abazie (Onwa Isingwu) and the many doses of kindness he dispenses to the needy and the less privileged in society For Mrs Mercy Onuabuchi Nwabekee, a widow from Umuigwe kindred, Umuda Isingwu in Umuahia North LGA of Abia state, it was a miracle beyond measure as Chief Moritz Abazie, the President of Moritz And Onyema Abazie Foundation and Chairman of Strides Energy And Maritime Limited handed over the keys to a 3 bedroom bungalow fully fitted with modern facilities to her. During the brief handover ceremony, Chief Sir Onyedikachi Agbara, the President General of Umuda Isingwu Welfare Union, described Chief Abazie as a man who embodies generosity, love, and kindness toward the poor and needy. He thanked Chief Abazie for revitalizing hope for the widow through this remarkable act of kindness and highlighted the importance of such generosity in community development. The Presbyter of St. James Methodist Church, Umuda Isingwu, who performed the dedication and handover ceremony, also spoke highly of Chief Abazie, describing him as a man with a noble spirit. He prayed for God's continued provision and good health for Chief Abazie, recognizing him as a vessel of hope for the hopeless, nourishment for the hungry, education for the less privileged, shelter for the homeless, and support for those neglected by society. The Presbyter encouraged other benevolent individuals to embody Chief Abazie’s philanthropic spirit, urging them to look for opportunities to assist the poor and needy while praying for blessings upon Chief Abazie and his family. Earlier speaking, Chief Moritz Abazie said by the grace of God The Moritz And Onyema Abazie Foundation is poised towards making society better than we met it and pledged not to relent in caring for the societies less privileged. Mrs. Nwabekee, the beneficiary, expressed her joy at becoming the proud owner of a modern bungalow, a reality she could hardly believe. She prayed that God Almighty would keep replenishing Chief Moritz Abazie. Many attendees, including Chief Jerry O. Oji, President of Umuigwe Kindred, who witnessed the occasion, shared in the joyous atmosphere and joined the clergy in praying for God’s continuous blessings and protection for Chief Abazie.

While Politicians Think of 2027, Rt. Hon. Ben Kalu Thinks Of The Future of The Southeast. By Uche Aguoru I took the time to listen to the Hon. Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Management Barr. Festus Keyamo during the flag-off of the Abia Airport at Nsulu and how he highlighted the significant role played by Rt. Hon. Benjamin Kalu towards ensuring the realization of the airport project which by my estimation will stand as the biggest federal presence in Abia state. We also recognize the great effort and influence he exerted to ensure that the South East Development Commission (SEDC) bill was passed into law giving us an agency with the mandate to pursue and facilitate much-needed economic, social, and infrastructural development in the Southeast. Through my interactions with him and by following his legislative activities, I discovered that Rt. Hon. Benjamin Okezie Kalu is a forward-looking politician who is genuinely committed to the progress and welfare of his constituents and the southern region over and above his own political future and survival. It is even difficult for his political adversaries not to acknowledge him as a passionate and visionary leader, one who shows genuine concern for the overall developmental future of his people. His tireless advocacy, persistent efforts, and consistent campaigns for the economic, social, and infrastructural revival of the Southeast set him apart as someone profoundly dedicated to the region's development. Rt. Hon. Benjamin Okezie Kalu more than any other legislator in the present dispensation has invested so much effort, influence, and resources towards reversing the current developmental deficit currently being experienced in the Southeast which has created so much pain, deprivation, poverty, and insecurity. His Non-kinetic approach targetted at solving the insecurity in the Southeast distinguishes him as a leader with a clear vision and understanding of his environment and background, a lawmaker par-excellence whose entry into the legislative theater has not only been fruitful to his constituents but Abia state, the Southeast and Nigeria at-large, he had through his constitutional responsibilities attracted so many infrastructural development projects to his constituency. Having previously held various political positions at the state level, his tenure in the House of Representatives since 2019 has showcased his efficiency, dexterity, proactiveness, and results-oriented representation. Rt. Hon. Benjamin Kalu can best be described as a brilliant politician who thinks of the next generation when others are thinking of the next election. Uche Aguoru Aguoru is a Public Affairs Analyst

Attacking The Shadow Cabinet, A Plot by Governor Otti to Suppress The Opposition. By Uche Aguoru Opposition is a crucial component of any successful democracy. Throughout history, no government, not even military regimes, has successfully suppressed opposition. As Mahatma Gandhi wisely stated, "If we want to cultivate a true spirit of democracy, we cannot afford to be intolerant. Intolerance betrays a lack of faith in one's cause." Effective leaders should surround themselves with people of diverse perspectives who can disagree without fear of being suppressed, oppressed, or intimidated. Governor Otti why waste so many resources in your efforts to stifle dissenting voices and subdue political opposition, why so much fear and apprehension for the shadow cabinet announced by the PDP which only seeks to mirror the policies and activities of your government? What other offense did the opposition commit against you other than asking for transparency and to show Abians where the 6.5 billion Naira Recreational Center which you claimed to have built is located? Where can Abians find the 3.3 billion Naira ICT center? Is it a crime to ask you to show us the beneficiaries of the Agric Seedling program which you budgeted 4.1bn for and funds were allocated for it? Are we asking for too much by calling on you to show us where the schools that you claimed to have used 11 billion Naira of Abia money to renovate? How is it an offense to ask for the results and breakdown of the 6.1 billion Naira that you claimed to have spent on Research and Capacity building? Mr. Governor, no amount of intimidation and harassment can stop the people of Abia from asking these essential questions. Using security agencies as tools for intimidation, harassment, and media suppression only highlights the alarming decline Abia has experienced under your leadership. Slamming every opposing voice with lawsuits and raising baseless petitions against me and other vocal members of the PDP, labeling us as IPOB, and accusing us of being behind the killings of security personnel in the state only reveals your desperation and will not deter us from seeking accountability. You enjoyed unhindered privilege as an opposition leader, and you accused the then government of all manner of maladministration and faux pas, but you were never at any time harassed or intimidated. You enjoyed your time as an opposition leader, freely accusing the previous government of various wrongdoings without ever facing harassment or intimidation. It is our constitutional right, one that you too enjoyed, to ask pertinent questions and demand clarity on governance issues. The only way your administration can rise above this shadow is by introducing transparency and clarity into its operations and financial dealings. Even Adolf Hitler, whom you seemingly emulate in your governance style, could not successfully suppress the Jewish people. Lastly Mr. Governor Sir, You only won the election, you did not conquer Abia and Abians. Aguoru Is a Public Affairs Advocate

Gentlemen of the Press, I have invited you once more to brief you on my concern on the purported reaward of Umuopara Ring Road by His Excellency Dr Alex Chioma Otti. Umuopara Ring Road is a road project I attracted for my people during the Tenure of Sen T A Orji, It was awarded to my company, Worldwide Environmental Technologies Limited in 2013 by the government of Senator T A Orji and reviewed in 2019 by Gov Okezie Ikpeazu. It transverses five villages namely, Umuekwule, Umuojameze, Ehume, Ogbodinibe, and Umunwanwa with a spur at Amachara. My company has completed Umuekwule to Ehume in accordance with specifications and in a highly professional manner that you cannot see a porthole in it in the next ten years despite the high traffic of trucks that goes to the Imo River sand dump. However, Abia State has yet to pay my company for certified works on the executed area. Every Abian knows the collective support of my family for Dr Alex Otti to get the Labour Party governorship ticket and my elder brother becoming his Campaign director general and my ability to discharge the role assigned to me that led to his emergence as governor. However, taking away the Umuopara ring road which is an existing contract from my company, and reawarding to my elder brother is not part of the agreement but done in bad faith to rub Peter and pay Paul, thereby causing disaffection in the family and destabilizing Umuopara and Umuahia South in general. Dr Alex Otti's refusal to reciprocate and keep even one of those gentlemen's understanding is his reason for all this Hullabaloo and his quest to destabilize my family, my community Umuopara, and my local government Umuahia South that collectively gave him the highest vote to become the governor. Recently, Gov Otti has used the election of the local government chairman in my local government to put a knife in the things that hold together the stakeholders of his Labour Party in my local government. He announced before the stakeholders that his political adviser who incidentally is my elder brother will work with him to choose the local government Chairmen aspirants. On the other side, he separately promised, assured, and mandated his Special Adviser on Security and also His Commissioner for Budget and Planning that it's the turn of their community to produce our local government Chairman and they should nominate their preferred person. These parties, jubilating with powers secretly conferred on them by His Excellency had stakeholders meeting to nominate their candidates but it eventually ended in a fight and they could not choose a candidate. Dr Alex Otti has succeeded in what he wants and ended up giving them a candidate whom none of his stakeholders in Umuahia South including his political adviser knows. This is what Dr Alex Otti wants to do in my family but what he does not know is that before my father died, he told me to protect my elder brother even if he was the one to kill me. So Dr. Alex Otti is only been half smart in trying to destabilize my family by reawarding an ongoing project being executed by my company to my elder brother whom he has made gullible. It's very pertinent for the world to know that three major things are very important to me here. 1. Completion of Umuopara Ring Road for my people. I do not care who completes Umuopara Ring Road but let the governor stop playing games and propaganda of destabilisation with abians and do the right thing. 2. My companies need to be paid for our services to the state. After the arbitration award and prior to entering it as Judgement of the court, in January and April 2023, the former governor Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu, and his Attorney General proffered a condition to pay us the debt but Dr. Alex Otti through his Campaign director ( my elder brother) pressured me not to accept the terms and promised to pay the money unconditionally if he is elected and sworn in as governor. After almost two years of being sworn in, I have used all human means to plead with Dr Alex Otti to keep his promise but he keeps saying he will not attend to anything that has to do with Sen T A Orji and Dr Okezie Ikpeazu but he is using those facilities we provided during their tenure and even himself Dr Alex Otti, at some point had good relationship with those government. 3. Finally, I have to obey my late father's instruction to protect my elder brother no matter the situation. I have waited for more than ten (10) years for the payment of the debts owed my companies by the Abia State government, so if standing on truth and fairness will cost me more six (6) years of Ottis governorship (if God permits) will not kill me and I will have no regret but it could be one of Dr. Alex Ottis political albatross. I love Abia State, and that's why as the first contractor of the state at creation, I jointly gifted the state the church of God building and furnishing that's in the government house and the only one there where the Governors and other staff worship. I hate deceit and injustice. That's why I am advising Dr Alex Otti to shun propaganda, lies, and greed and reciprocate the collective magnanimity of abians in his governance. We are all aware he spent a lot in his consecutive three attempts at the governorship race but he should realize that he got it on a platter of gold at the time he never spent money, so that should convince him that it's God that gives power. If he does well, God may still use Abians to vote him in for a second time and at that time he could recover all beyond his expectation. Honestly, if I am disappointed with Dr. Alex Otti, all major stakeholders in Umuahia South no matter the position they pretend to hold are worst hit, though, they are keeping silent. CONCLUSION: I love my family, the Umuopara people, and Umuahia South. My concern is for the Umuopara Ring road to be completed and very well constructed as we have exemplified, and if possible better. I stand for and am ready to sacrifice for anything that will cause peace, unity, and progress to prevail in Umuopara. However, I advise Umuopara people to read the story of Cain and Abel in the bible very well. Yes, Cain was very envious and jealous of Abel, that he killed him but he did not kill Abel alone. There were invisible hands of Cain's friends who motivated Cain against his brother Abel, that was why after Cain killed Abel and God appeared to him, he regretted his actions but then it was too late. Please my Umuopara people, let us join hands and eliminate those Cains friends who are putting a knife in the things that hold us, so we may live in peace, unity, and Progress. Instead of ending as Abel, may we end as Joseph that the Lord shall still keep us alive to be that rejected stone that became the pillar of the house. Remember if you sell your brother, the buyer won't trust you. To God be the glory. Sir Ako Obioma. AkubaraOha of Umuopara.

The contractor awarded the construction of Dozie Way, which was recently commissioned by Abia State Governor Dr. Alex Otti, has accused the state government of inflating the contract sum for the project. During a press conference held in Umuahia, Chief Ako Obioma expressed disappointment that "Dr. Alex Otti could spend N750 million for only asphalt overlay of a 1.3 km road." Chief Obioma stated that despite the agreements he had with Governor Otti, the governor has refused to pay him for his work, including the construction of IBB Way, now called Dozie Way. Instead of settling his payment, the governor claimed that the Ministry of Works spent N750m through direct labour for only asphalt overlay of 1.3 kilometers out of the 4.4km contract already completed by his company, Worldwide Environmental Technologies Limited, which he said is in flagrant disobedience to court judgments mandating payment for the work his company Worldwide Environmental Technologies Limited. He indicated that his company has completed the 4.4 km road 100%, leaving to overlay the asphalt binder course with a wearing course which the ministry claimed to have overlayed only 1.3km at a staggering sum of N750m. He voiced his concerns over the injustice he faces from the state government but pledged to continue to seek legal remedies to claim the justice he deserves. UMUOPARA RING ROAD, IBB (DOZIE) WAY AND THE FRAUD INHERENT. Gentlemen of the Press, I am Sir Ako Obioma, the chairman/chief executive of Worldwide Environmental Technologies Limited. I have invited you today to inform you of the injustice and damages I have endured from Abia State Government over ten (10) years. In my nature, I'm not given to publicity, especially allowing my businesses to be politicized but this situation has demanded that I speak out. In 2007, at the swearing-in of Senator T A Orji, he urged me to relocate my construction equipment and plant yard to Umuahia to assist him in developing the state. Having known him from old Imo State, I have huge respect and trust in him so I obliged his request. During his tenure, my company completed many roads and other infrastructure with some ongoing road projects. However, my companies were never at any time paid mobilization before commencing any project and this led to huge debt by the government to my companies. Due to the inability of successive governments to pay this debt, in 2016, we took the Abia State government to the high court, however, Abia State in turn reversed it to the Arbitration Panel. The arbitration award was released on October 2022 and Abia State government was mandated to pay my companies a total of N2,715,978,167.04 and this was subsequently entered as Judgement of the court by Abia State High Court in May 2024. It's pertinent to inform you that Umuopara Ring Road and IBB dual carriageway (Nicknamed Dozie way) which are the focus of this invitation are among the projects in the arbitration. Umuopara Ring Road was struck out at arbitration because it is ongoing and the government has not shown any unwillingness to pay nor discontinue the project and no certificate has been raised. However, the Abia state government was mandated to pay us the certified amount of N581m for IBB (Dozie) Way and to raise our completion certificate for the balance of the N930,604,050.00 contract sum. In 2019, the government of Dr Okezie Ikpeazu kept to her words at the arbitration panel by reviewing the contracts and flagging off Umuopara Ring Road officially. We returned back to the site and as of 2022, we had completed over fifty (50%) percent of this road project. However, due to the inability of the government to pay our second interim certificate of N279,312,648.30, we suspended the work. During the 2023 elections, there was agreement and understanding in which Dr Alex Otti made promises among which were, to offset Abia State Government debts to my companies and continuation of our ongoing projects which includes this Umuopara ring road. Six months into his governance, all I kept getting from my elder brother who was his Campaign Director General, was that the Governor was requesting we give him some time to stabilize. One year after, it's the same story of "there's money we are expecting very soon". Surprisingly, in September 2024, I read an advert from Abia State Ministry of Works requesting interested contractors to tender for the construction of the 6.9km Umuopara ring road. I couldn't get the commissioner for Works on the phone, so I called the permanent secretary Engr Izuchukwu, who confirmed it and even urged me to tender for it. My lawyer wrote to the Commissioner for Works copying the Governor and urging them to understand the legal implications of what they are doing and to expunge the Umuopara ring road in their tender advertisement. Next was the Governor's Press briefing this November where he announced that he has awarded Umuopara Ring Road and subsequent announcement that he is going to flag it off on 3rd December. On the Umuokpara Ring Road, Dr Otti's intention to flag it off from Umunwanwa is deceptive, Umunwanwa is the last village where the Umuopara ring road ends. Contract for the ring road was awarded to Worldwide Environmental Technologies Limited which covers five villages, Umuekwule, Umuajameze, Ehume, Ogbodinibe, and Umunwanwa with spur at Amachara. Worldwide started the project from Umuekwule and have covered Umuojameze and Ehume remaining only Ogbodinibe to Umunwanwa, which is slightly less than 3km. Dr Alex Otti's intention to flag it off from Umunwanwa which is the last village is only to decieve the general masses. Why didn't he start it from Ehume, where Worldwide stopped work. Another shocker was the Governor's commissioning of the same IBB way nicknamed Dozie way which was a virgin road with 2.2 metre Hill that was awarded to us in 2013 and was completed in 2016 along other adjoining roads to Ahiaeke, Umuana, Lodu, and new timber market at the contract sum of N930,604,050 which we are yet to be paid a kobo against the arbitration and court judgment. Yes, we understand that the government recently overlayed asphalt on the IBB (dozie) way for a whopping N750m. It's disheartening that Dr. Alex Otti could spend N750m for asphalt overlay of 1.3km of the 4.4km road, yet went to court and filed a stay of execution for pantry N581m the arbitration and court-mandated the state government to pay us as part of the N930m, for the 4.4km road we constructed without mobilization. CONCLUSION: Gentlemen and Ladies of the Press, In other to avoid political Hullabaloo on this project, I found it necessary to invite you to visit these road projects with me for on the spot assessment and for you to see if the remaining Umuopara road project is 6.9km as alleged by Abia state government and to find out from the government their reason for re-awarding the road project. It's also noteworthy to inform you that it's not only this Umuopara ring road and IBB (Dozie) way that I have faced similar faith, there are so many other such roads in the state which the government claimed to have rehabilitated through direct labour and paid themselves. However, we shall continue to dialogue with the government in our demand for professional and constitutional procedure in their decisions and actions but where all fails, we shall take appropriate steps for justice to prevail. However, I'm very happy for His Excellency, Dr Alex Otti's intention to complete the Umuopara Ring Road but I urge him to be magnanimous with the application of TRUST and GOOD CONSCIENCE. Recently, the Minister of the dissolved Ministry of Niger Delta paid him a visit, I heard Dr Alex Otti in his almost weeping speech complaining of non-payment of a certified certificate for an ongoing road project NDDC is doing across his village home which he attracted and being handled by his friend's company that was abandoned since 2018. How does he compare this to the Army Barracks, Ohafia, The Helipad at Isikwuato, Amaoba road, Ikwuano, etc. constructed by my companies and commissioned by former President Goodluck Jonathan since 2011 without any payment by Abia State Government and now Umuopara ring road and IBB (Dozie) way with debt running in billions of Naira since 2011, yet he found it reluctant to honor arbitration and court judgment to pay us and as well reneging on his own promises. Thanks for honouring my invitation. I remain yours Truly, Sir Ako Obioma ( AkubaraOha). Chairman/CEO. Worldwide Environmental Technologies Limited

Hon. Demian Igbokwe has called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to unconditionally release Nnamdi Kanu to curb the rising wave of insecurity in the southeast. Addressing a cross-section of Igbo youths from the 5 southeastern states who paid him a visit in his office in Abuja, the Special Adviser to the Senate Minority Whip used the opportunity to appeal to Mr. President to show statesmanship and fatherly love by releasing Nnamdi Kanu, according to him, only the release of Kanu can guarantee peace and security in the zone. "The economy of the Southeast is in decline, with innocent people being killed and kidnapped daily. Businesses are relocating, and many individuals are living in fear," Igbokwe stated. "Igbos are enterprising, peace-loving, and deeply attached to our native homes and communities. However, many can no longer return home; traditional marriages and even burials are taking place outside of our communities, Families are abandoning their ancestral homes, kidnappings have become commonplace, and our elites and businesses are being targeted. Our once-thriving economy is seriously suffering, and the region is in crisis." He pleaded with Mr President to please give a listening ear to the cries of Ndigbo and release Kanu so that Ndigbo will consolidate and rebuild our economy. Igbokwe appealed to the President to listen to the cries of the Igbo people and release Kanu so that they could rebuild and strengthen their economy. He expressed support for Rt. Hon. Benjamin Kalu's "Peace in the Southeast Project" (PISEP) and, urged the Deputy Speaker to intensify efforts to ensure the initiative thrives. Additionally, he called upon traditional rulers, governors, and community leaders to continue advocating for President Tinubu to release Mazi Kanu, which would enable the Southeast to reclaim the peace, security, and economic progress it once enjoyed. Recall that Nnamdi Kanu has been incarcerated since June 2015, when he was arrested by the Department of State Services (DSS) in Lagos. He was subsequently charged with treason, terrorism, and other offenses. Despite being granted bail on several occasions, Kanu has remained in detention.

Over an extended period, the level of insecurity, killings, and violent crime in Abia State has reached unprecedented levels, and bloodshed is spiraling out of control. In just the past two weeks, there have been reports of over six individuals, including soldiers and policemen, killed in Umuahia. Additionally, about eight people have reportedly been kidnapped, and several vehicles and tricycles have been stolen at gunpoint. We all seem to have gotten used to POS operators being robbed and in many cases shot and killed and the government has done nothing to protect them. While Governor Otti, is busy traveling from one continent to another in search of cheap clout and to hawk his propaganda to the diaspora Abians in return for cheap media validation, these hoodlums became so brazen that they attacked high-profile Abians and top government functionaries convoys, and their security details. Governor Otti and his family ride around in brand-new, customized bulletproof SUVs purchased with taxpayer money, while Abians are being killed and kidnapped daily, and the government makes no effort to strengthen security. For the government to state that "the increasing insecurity in the state is the handiwork of the opposition" shows that the Otti's government is not just clueless but is intentionally dishonest and misleading and this calls for serious concern. If there is anybody to blame for the rise in insecurity, it is the Otti administration's disengagement of over 20,000 legitimately employed civil servants. Otti should realize that there is a serious multiplier effect on the thousands of Abians who have lost their jobs and means of employment and livelihood through his wicked and draconian policies and actions. He must take cognizance of the fact that their families and dependents are directly and negatively impacted by the loss of those jobs and sources of livelihood. Across the state, pervasive hunger and severe poverty have reached levels not seen since the state's inception, while he and his family display affluence. The cost of living in the state has become unbearably high and unaffordable. Under his watch, Umuahia has become known as the most poverty-stricken town in Nigeria. The incidences have become so worrisome that residents of Aba and Umuahia have seemingly resigned to fate and Abians in the diaspora are now scared to visit home for fear of being attacked, kidnapped, or even killed. Former Governor Orji Kalu Inherited Insecurity attacked and defeated it, Ochendo Global faced insecurity and surmounted it, and Ikpeazu kept the state very secure and peaceful, but rather than Otti to stand up to his responsibility or seek advice having displayed evidential cluelessness, he is shifting blames and politicizing the situation. Governor Otti is evading responsibility and has exhibited lack of capacity to confront the situation and provide effective solutions. But rather than attack the situation with the seriousness it deserves, the Otti administration appears clueless and defeatist and is now pushing blame and politicizing security as a means of escape. Mayor Lucky Igbokwe has appealed to the military not to go on reprisal attacks against innocent members of the community but to identify, arrest, and deal with only persons directly and remotely connected to the gruesome killings of military officers. Mayor Igbokwe, a United Nations Mayor of Peace in a statement he issued in Umuahia on Saturday strongly condemned the incident describing the killings as barbaric, heinous, and unimaginable, Igbokwe said no circumstances should have warranted such magnitude of wickedness against officials and personnel of a law enforcement agency. He appealed to the military to adopt the best globally accepted cause of action in dealing with the unfortunate development by avoiding the temptation to vent its anger on the innocent residents of the community. Mayor Igbokwe asked the military to deploy high-level intelligence gathering to identify, isolate, arrest, and deal with only those connected to the incident but also to allow the innocent residents to come back to their homes, businesses, and schools and continue their normal lives. He called on the state government and other stakeholders to intervene and work with the military hierarchy to ensure that peace and security return to Ekenobizi and Umuokpara communities. Mayor Igbokwe, a governorship aspirant in the 2023 elections, called on the federal government to seek a political approach to free Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, stating that the continuous incarceration of Kanu is only escalating crisis and insecurity in the southeast and it has greatly depleted the economic fortunes of the region

I have taken the time to investigate the accusations leveled against Onyekachi Nwabueze. Although I have not yet spoken with him directly, I have heard from his colleagues and people he has interacted with. In all cases, he has maintained his innocence against the lies and falsehood propagated by the Otti government, which claims he admitted to some multi-million Naira pension fraud. I had the opportunity to have an honest discussion with a close member of Governor Otti's inner circle. This individual revealed that Onyekachi is being punished not due to any empirical evidence of fraud but because of his open identification with the PDP and also as a means to deter others from sharing vital information with the opposition. The governor has become deeply concerned about continuous leaks of critical government information, particularly regarding financial records that have revealed fraud and large-scale theft. Onyekachi became a prime suspect after documents related to a particular payout of about 50 million Naira, which did not go through the approved processes as required by law were leaked to Obinna Oriaku which Oriaku also said it wasn't sent to him directly but that he saw it from the website of a reputable news blog, The governor then commissioned security agencies to investigate the source of these leaks, resulting in an inquiry involving staff from all departments attached to the Ministry of Finance. During this investigation, some staff pointed fingers at Onyekachi, not because any evidence was found against him, but simply because he is an Ngwa man who had previously worked with Oriaku as the Commissioner for Finance. Consequently, he was arrested and incarcerated. However, under public pressure, the governor hurriedly ordered his arraignment even though JUSUN was on strike and the courts were not functioning. This raises several questions: Why victimize this young man when you know he is innocent of all the allegations? Why place false accusations of millions of Naira on him when all his accounts show no such records, and security agencies have confirmed that their thorough investigation found nothing incriminating? If fraud is not synonymous with your government, why are you afraid of information getting to the public? Do you believe that punishing Onyekachi will block the flow of information to the opposition and the public, or cover up the industrial-scale fraud that has already come to light? Success will surely have his day in court, and I am confident he will emerge victorious despite your intimidations and scheming because you are not God, Mr. Governor, if you are searching for those who are stealing from the government search your conscience first. Arising from the petition raised by a group known as the Concerned Ohafia Citizens (COC), Lawmakers in the Abia State House of Assembly have condemned the assault, arrest, and detention of the member representing Ohafia South, Hon Kalu Mba Nwoke by policemen attached to the Deputy Governor, Engr Ikechukwu Emetuh. The lawmakers described the act as undemocratic and barbaric, they said such intimidation, harassment, and abuse of fundamental human rights by the Deputy Governor against an honourable member at the Ohafia Local government Secretariat on Saturday, 2nd of November 2024, during the local government elections is totally condemnable and unacceptable. In a Matter of Urgent Public Importance raised by Hon. Godwin Adiele, a PDP lawmaker representing Ukwa West State Constituency, they described the action as very insulting to the State House of Assembly. They insisted that the house must summon the Deputy Governor to explain why he should use the security details attached to him to assault and intimidate a lawmaker for insisting that the right thing be done. Hon. Solomon Akpulonu of the PDP Obingwa East State Constituency said the deputy governor grievously assaulted Hon Kalu Mba Nwoke, he described the deputy Governors action as condemnable and an affront on the entire Legislature and called for an unreserved apology to Hon. Nwoke and the whole of Abia state house of assembly, he called on the speaker to institute an immediate inquiry on the cause of the mishap. They requested that the speaker should summon Engr Emetuh to appear before them and explain why he should use law enforcement agents to attack, assault, and bully an honourable member who was only exercising his constitutional right. Some lawmakers who spoke to our reporter said the Speaker condemned the action of the deputy speaker and insisted that the matter must be given the attention it deserves. they expressed surprise that for the first time, the speaker is taking a stand in support of his colleague and hoped that he would insist on making sure that Kalu Mba Nwoke gets justice. The spokesman of the Concerned Ohafia Citizens (COC) Hon chief Chidiebere Uwagwu, thanked the lawmakers for standing boldly in condemnation of the assault against an Ohafia son and representative, he thanked IPAC for speaking up in condemnation of the action of the deputy governor and Ohafia Monarchs for weighing in on the matter with the intention of having it resolved. Chief Uwagwu said they would bring the matter to the notice of the State Commissioner of Police and the Inspector General of Police to bring the policemen who allegedly assaulted, manhandled, and unjudiciously locked up a lawmaker. Recall that Kalu Mba Nwoke, an LP lawmaker representing Ohafia South State Constituency in Abia State House of Assembly was reportedly beaten up, injured, and illegally detained by Policemen allegedly on the orders of the state Deputy Governor at the Ohafia Local government Secretariat on Saturday, 2nd of November 2024, during the local government elections conducted by ABSIEC for demanding that election result sheets be made available for voters to inspect before the elections to avoid manipulation of results.

The members of Concerned Ohafia Citizens (CoC) wish to express our unequivocal condemnation of the assault, brutalization, arrest, and detention of Hon. Kalu Mba Nwoke, the House of Assembly Member representing Ohafia South State Constituency, by acclaimed agents of the state government. Our independent investigation indicates that Hon. Kalu Mba Nwoke did not violate any laws that would justify such severe actions, including intimidation, arrest, and detention by police officers who allegedly claimed to be acting under orders from the state government. As a representative of the people, it is his fundamental right just like every other citizen to support whoever he wants. It is also within his rights and inline with the rules guiding the conduct of elections to demand to see and inspect the voting materials including the result sheets before the commencement of elections. Resorting to intimidation and bullying by the agents of the state government because he (Hon. Kalu Mba Nwoke) refused to support the candidate of ZLP is not just condemnable but an act of tyranny by the state government and its agents. The publication circulating in some online newspapers and allegedly sponsored by the state government that he tried to disrupt voting is an unfounded and outright lie. We want to make it clear that his only offense is his refusal to accept the imposition of a candidate on him by the Deputy Governor. We formally request that the state government issue an apology and for the Abia State House of Assembly to take a stance against this act of tyranny, intimidation, harassment, brutality, and the illegal detention of their member by police personnel allegedly acting on purported orders from the state government. Press Release. The Abduction of Nwabueze Success, A Ploy To Frame Obinna Oriaku By Abia State Government. This is to alert the general public that we, the members of the Old Aba Division Progressive Union, are cognizant of the Abia State Government's attempts to unjustly implicate Chief Obinna Oriaku (Ekwedike) in matters with which he is not associated. Chief Oriaku is our illustrious son and a distinguished Ngwa man who has served commendably as the Commissioner for Finance from 2015 to 2019. Since the current government has become so predictable, one can correctly guess their frustrations and next line of action, especially given the background that Chief Oriaku has undertaken the noble task of holding the current administration accountable. Yesterday the 29th of October 2024, we were reliably informed that Mr. Nwabueze Success Onyekachi was abducted over some leaked documents exposing the financial recklessness, malfeasance and industrial-scale sleaze going on in the government. being that he works in State audit and an Ngwa man and in line with the state government's anti-Ngwa policy, he was therefore accused of being responsible for the leaked documents. Failing to substantiate these claims, they have decided to link Mr Nwabueze with allegations of Pension fraud which we have reliably gathered is a calculated attempt to associate Chief Obinna Oriaku with fraudulent activities in which he has no involvement. We want to use this medium to notify the public that Chief Oriaku has previously undergone scrutiny and investigation by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) during his tenure as Commissioner and was found not guilty of any wrongdoing by the agency The current efforts by the state government aimed at shutting him up since he has refused to be cowed by personal threats to his person and family including the threat of legal action, this current plot will also bear no fruit even as we are aware that the " the governor has given matching instructions to drag all the people that worked under Mr Obinna Oriaku. Through this public notice, we aim to alert the citizens of Abia State and Nigerians in general to this troubling situation. We assert that the Government of Abia State will be held accountable should any harm befall Mr. Obinna Oriaku. Signed Chief Dick Nwosu. Chairman Chief Ezindu Obiofor Secretary

In reaction to the claims by Governor Alex Otti that his administration will be flaggig off 19.2km Itungwa/Omoba road, the former Commisioner for finance Chief Obinna Oriaku said, the Otti administration had no single input in the project stating that the project is a a world Bank Project, he narrated how the contract for project which predates the Otti administration was initiated by the T.A Orji administration and the arrangements and counterpart funding was paid by the Ikpeazu government. He advised Governor Otti government to endeavour to speak the truth and give honour to who it is due. Read Full...... The untold story of Abia RAAMP and its flag off. Abians are happy that this project is taking off after a long delay which will be boring to enumerate. Most times people refutes stories or news of this government because of their strategy of ignoring all the jobs or efforts of people that were there before them. The Oyibo that introduced modern government concepts understand why they said it is continuum. That project was restarted in 2016. During TA adminstration, most projects that required counterpart funding were stopped due to mismangament of funds by the operators. In this case , we set up a committee to investigate what happened with the funds for this project. The report is still there . Because of the importance of this world bank program RAAMP and others,we decided to follow up on these programmes including other world bank projects. We came in during recession of 2015, funds were not enough to even pay salaries , not to talk about setting out funds for counterpart funds. The Federal government through the DMO ( Debt Mgt Office ) had just banned commercial banks from granting any further facility to any State as they were processing bail out for states. We decided we must source for for funds to commence these projects due to their importance. These include; FADAMA. CSDP, NEWMAP and RAAMP. The head of DMO (Debt Management office )then was Dr Abraham Nwankwo from Obowo in Imo state. One Saturday around May 2016, when we got information that he came around for weekend. Emme Okoro then SSG , Emeka Ononiwu left for Obowo and pleaded with him to reconsider his stand and grant Abia exceptional approval to source for funds for the counter part fund for these projects listed above. Zenith bank came to our rescue with N700m facility and the rest is history. As close as Hon Minister for FCT , Nyeso Wike who is the star Minster is to the President and power levers in this administration, it will take the FCT average of 4 years to consummate this transaction. N300m was given to RAAMP as counterpart fund and N400 to NEWMAP. That marked the second journey of RAAMP Abia was readmitted among participating states in RAAMP. This project suffered many challenges as I went to their head office in Abuja with then PC Mr Babintion, at a time those that started with Abia state at inception concluded that phase and entered the second Phase. Abia was migrated to the second phase which now included integrated Agricultural evacuation from rural areas as focus . The money eventually came in to the CBN by adding Abia into the envelop system in 2022. There were other internal issues which included sacking of the PC Mr Babintion by this government coupled with shenanigans of the operators and the award process that was truncated late 2022 to 2023, and of course, the general election . Gov Otti also sacked Enger Ogbonna that took over from Mr Babintion, all these contributed to the delay of the project. The project entails reconstruction of about 500km in Abia , these roads are worth £60m with prospects of scaling up the amount due to current exchange rate . The focus is to open up the rural roads that leads to remote farms and link roads to create access to market. There are 3 types of roads . (1). Virgin road construction (2). scaling of old roads by reconstruction. (3) linkage of rural roads by constructing culvert and bridges to open the roads . The 19.2km Itungwa Omoba road was initially scheduled to take off from Itungwa, end but now Umoba . We have not seen any deliberate effort by this government to construct any road in Isi ala Ngwa south , the supposed local government of our Governor . Our intervention is to ensure this project is not appropriated as if its coming from the state. It is a world bank project which predates this administration. The current state administration has no 1kobo contribution outside those initial investments made by the state before now. This is a world bank project re- initiated in 2016, processed and awarded by last administration but cancelled , and reawarded, but being officially flagged off tommrrow 2nd October. Today , We are happy Abia North have over 140km of roads linking Arochukwu, while the 8km Umuikaa to Umuene awarded over 8 months ago has been abandoned as contractor has demobilzed from site. ( You will see it on the road , that is if you can access Umuene from that road as its totally abandoned). We will not allow anybody use world bank project to make up for the neglect of the supposed Governor's local government. It is instructive to note that our external borrowing automatically increases with the payment of this project. This is to teach those that will say , we have not borrowed since we came or we have paid down. . Like i said, It is sad that it took this long years to get here. However, we are ok the project is taking off, but if the choice of project was left for this administration, we know Itungwa and Umuoba would not have featured. Obinna Oriaku Ekwedike.

Dr. Monica Adanma Uwaga's career in environmental science, forestry, and ecology is a testament to her profound dedication to advancing the understanding and management of environmental systems. Her extensive research, practical contributions, and academic involvement have significantly propelled the fields of environmental conservation, bioremediation, and climate change mitigation. Through her work, Dr. Uwaga has not only addressed some of the most pressing ecological challenges but has also influenced the broader environmental science community with innovative solutions and a commitment to sustainable development. Dr. Uwaga’s academic foundation began with a Bachelor of Science in Forestry and Environmental Management from Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Umudike (MOUAU), Nigeria. Her early academic excellence set the stage for her subsequent achievements, which include a Master’s degree in Toxicology and Environmental Management and a Ph.D. in Ecology. Currently, she is pursuing another Ph.D. in Bio-Environmental Science at Morgan State University, USA, illustrating her dedication to constantly refining her expertise in the environmental sciences. This dedication to lifelong learning not only exemplifies her personal drive but also highlights her commitment to pushing the boundaries of knowledge in the field. Dr. Uwaga has made valuable contributions to ecosystem protection and restoration, focusing on environmental impact assessments and baseline studies that are essential for effective project management in environmentally sensitive areas. These contributions are particularly significant in today’s world, where the effects of industrialization, deforestation, and climate change are becoming increasingly pronounced. Dr. Uwaga’s research into watershed characteristics in her Ph.D. dissertation, "Ecological Changes in Watershed Characteristics along a River Course in Isingwu Umuahia-North Local Government Area, Abia State, Nigeria," is particularly noteworthy. This work sheds light on how human activity and natural forces impact watershed ecosystems, contributing to a deeper understanding of how to preserve and rehabilitate these vital ecological systems. Her research on watershed ecology advances the field by providing crucial insights into the interconnectedness of water resources and land use, promoting strategies for sustainable water management and ecosystem resilience. A major focus of Dr. Uwaga’s work has been on bioremediation—the process of using living organisms to remove pollutants from the environment. Her research in this area has provided practical solutions for managing pollution, particularly in regions heavily affected by industrial activities and agricultural runoff. By advancing bioremediation techniques, she has made important strides in developing sustainable methods to clean up contaminated soils and water bodies. This work has broad applications, especially in areas like Nigeria where pollution from the oil and gas industry has had significant environmental impacts. Dr. Uwaga’s research contributes directly to creating cleaner, safer environments and reducing the ecological footprint of human activities. In addition to her research, Dr. Uwaga’s role as an educator has been instrumental in shaping the next generation of environmental scientists. At MOUAU, she has held several academic positions, progressing from Graduate Assistant to Lecturer 1 in the Department of Forestry and Environmental Management. By ensuring that these assessments are rooted in thorough scientific analysis, she has helped create frameworks that balance economic development with environmental preservation. This work is critical in developing countries where economic growth often conflicts with environmental sustainability, and Dr. Uwaga’s contributions ensure that development occurs with an awareness of its ecological impact. Her commitment to gender studies in the context of environmental management also sets her apart as a holistic researcher. Dr. Uwaga has explored how gender dynamics affect land use and conservation practices, particularly in traditional farming systems. This research is essential in promoting inclusive environmental policies that take into account the different roles that men and women play in environmental stewardship, thus broadening the scope of environmental science to include social dimensions of sustainability. Dr. Uwaga’s extensive involvement in global environmental organizations, including the British Ecological Society and the Organization for Women in Science for the Developing World, highlights her influence on an international scale. These memberships allow her to engage with leading experts from around the world, facilitating collaboration on cutting-edge environmental research and projects. Her work has explored the intersection of environmental science and technology, particularly the role of bioplastics and renewable materials in reducing the environmental impact of industrial waste. These research outputs not only advance academic knowledge but also provide practical recommendations for policymakers and industry leaders on how to adopt more sustainable practices. In conclusion, Dr. Monica Adanma Uwaga’s career exemplifies how one individual’s dedication to environmental science can have far-reaching impacts. Her research into bioremediation, climate change, and ecosystem management, combined with her role as an educator and mentor, has advanced the field of environmental science significantly. Her contributions provide valuable insights that help shape policies, drive sustainable development, and protect fragile ecosystems. As she continues to build on her impressive body of work, Dr. Uwaga stands as a leader in her field, guiding the way toward a more sustainable and environmentally conscious future.

Since the return of democracy in 1999 the Southeast has been shortchanged in so many areas for reasons of either lack of effectual and purposeful representation on the part of those we sent to represent us at the National Assembly or most of our representatives have not seen the need or even where they do, haven’t got the political propellant needed to move for the attraction of federal facilities which other zones have been enjoying, most of the bills meant to attract the much-desired development to the Southeast is usually stepped down, abandoned, killed or not given the necessary force required to make it a law. The Southeast has experienced infrastructural and economic deficit since the end of the civil war even when the PDP was the party at the center and enjoyed the massive support of the region, a period when we had a robust relationship with the presidency, the positive overcounts of that strong relationship that is supposed to have benefitted the region then was neither seen nor felt in adequate developmental amounts anywhere in the Southeast. As a direct fallout of the effects of the civil war, the zone was afflicted with deliberate neglect and marginalization hence the underdevelopment and infrastructural decay that had placed the zone at a disadvantaged position if placed in comparison with other zones in the Federation despite our globally acknowledged reputation as a highflyer in commerce and education, it has also robbed the Southeast zone of major Federal establishments and facilities including the privilege of luxuriating in the gains and accruals of such federal government-owned institutions and democratic derivables. The realization of the South East Development Commission, a visionary initiative from Rt. Hon. Benjamin Kalu as of today remains the biggest goal ever scored by a Southeast legislator designed to foster inclusive development across the region. The overriding disadvantageous effect of not owning a federal commission directly responsible for the rebuilding of the zone after the ravaging effect of the civil war just like we have it in the North East and the Niger Delta scores the bill sponsored by Rt. Hon. Benjamin Okezie Kalu, The Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives and member representing Bende federal constituency astronomically high, given the requisite and timely nature of the bill. That Rt. Hon. Benjamin Kalu has shown finesse in representation since his first term in the green chambers is not in doubt, but this all-important bill is borne out of noble-mindedness and therefore deserves all the accolades. Let me, therefore, use this medium to plead with all the Southeast Governors, The Leadership of Ohaneze Ndigbo, the Southeast Intelligentsia, the Igbo Leaders of Thought, the political class, and colleagues of Rt. Hon. Kalu, to desist from engaging in unnecessary fighting and pulling him down but rather imbibe the spirit of patriotism and love for the region by joining hands with him to ensure that the SEDC when established will precipitate inclusive development of the zone and assist our region back on the road to peace, inclusive economic and infrastructural development, and end the restiveness and separatist agitation that escalated insecurity in the southeast. When The Saint Came To Plunder And Pilfer By Uche Aguoru For 8 years, Dr. Alex Chioma Otti traversed the length and breadth of Abia state, preaching to Abians and promising accountability and transparency if given the number one job in the state. Armed with his private sector experience, though adjudged controversial, he painted a saintly picture of himself while accusing the then-PDP government of not being transparent enough and promising to be more accountable and open in transacting the state's fiscals. Like every politician on a campaign mission, he engaged and was believed just as some gullible, though highly educated Nigerians at home and in the diaspora believed former President Buhari when he promised to exchange "one Naira for one US Dollar" if elected, and went ahead to work against the Goodluck Jonathan government which has already positioned the country's economy on the path of holistic progression. While I must acknowledge some moderate achievements in road maintenance and refurbishment of existing infrastructure the Otti administration inherited from the previous administrations, it becomes very concerning the humongous cost attached to these projects and the lack of transparency with which the contracts are awarded and funds disbursed. Going by the invoices obtained, the costs with which the Otti administration awards contracts on road reconstruction raise questions about the state's expenses. For example, the Ohanku road reconstruction project allegedly being over-invoiced to the tune of 17 billion naira, with the original cost of the project being 3.5 billion naira. Today, it is globally acknowledged that Abia state has broken the GUINNESS WORLD RECORD for paying 5.6 billion naira per kilometer of road in a non-swampy terrain without bridges, representing the costliest road contract per kilometer the world over. The Otti government allegedly wrote off billions of naira on non-existent projects, as represented in the table above. If the content of the table above does not scare or make you uncomfortable with the Alex Otti administration, then you must have fed your conscience to the dogs in exchange for blind support. According to the financial report published on the Abia State Government website, the Otti administration claimed to have constructed and rehabilitated public schools with 11.94 billion Naira. However, the reality on the ground does not support such a claim as there are no records of any school being reconstructed or retrofitted, at least not to the knowledge of Abians. It is very obvious that the Governor came equipped with tools for selfish acquisition of wealth. How can one openly claim N12bn for capital projects in the education sector without building a classroom block to show for it? The government also claimed to have reconstructed and rehabilitated office buildings at the cost of 4.8 billion Naira, but Abians are yet to see where such projects were carried out. The financial records as published also read that the Otti government did infrastructure with 3 billion Naira. It is only Governor Otti who can explain what that means, as the governor has the habit of sacking any commissioner or aide who picks courage to raise issues or ask questions seeking explanations on some expenditure subheads attached to his/her ministry. They claimed to spend 7.8 billion Naira on Research and Development without specifics on institutions or even results, pointing to how corrupt this administration has been. Abia State Government claimed to have spent 1 billion Naira on erosion control but has been unable to point at the site where such monies were spent, which is very unusual for a government that conducts huge publicity for every little achievement. The claim of spending 2.14 billion Naira on the reconstruction of Law Courts in the state is another project that only exists on paper and is allegedly used to siphon public funds. The Otti administration has yet to show Abians where the 2.46 billion Naira ICT infrastructure is sited since it does not exist within the Abia geographical space Abians are still very confused about what the subhead CAPACITY BUILDING means, on which Governor Otti claimed to have spent 3 billion Naira. As of today, Governor Otti runs the most untransparent and expensive government in Nigeria where governor Otti expends 927 million Naira monthly on meals in his Nvosi home while the people are living in extreme poverty. In his usual deceitful style, he promised to be the first Governor that would pay the minimum wage once Organized Labour and FG reached an agreement. Still, several months after he has yet to honour that promise despite receiving 17b naira in July from the federation account as a monthly allocation, he is still undecided on whether or not to pay the 70k minimum wage. In contrast, Enugu, Ebonyi, and many other states have commenced implementation. Before you come in defense of Governor Otti, can you please show Abian's where these projects he claimed to have spent billions of Naira belonging to Abians are located? Indeed, the Otti administration came prepared to steal, loot, and to plunder. Aguoru is a public affairs analyst.

Rt. Hon. Ben Kalu, Reliving The Okpara Developmental Passion And Ideology By Uche Aguoru Having carefully followed the legislative history and achievements of the visionary, brilliant, and cerebral Deputy Speaker of the 10th House of Representatives. Rt. Hon. Benjamin Kalu, his approach and efforts aimed at reinventing and repositioning the Southeast region toward the path of inclusive development This courageous and creative young politician from Bende deserves commendations and support for his conscious but systematic and progressive initiatives aimed at rebuilding the post-civil war Igbo land I have read some people opine that Ben Kalu is not the only deputy speaker that the southeast region has produced, while the argument is valid, the results are manifest that he is undeniably the most result-oriented and most impactful No6 Nigerian that we have had since the return of the 4th republic. Ben Kalu's legislative direction has remained consistent and directional toward the economic and social reengineering of the region and the people As a legislator, a close study of Kalu's developmental initiatives and drive will reveal a semblance of the M.I Okpara developmental spirit, he has consistently pursued programs and policies that will facilitate and Fastrack peace and economic rejuvenation and development of the southeast. For a region that has faced intentional marginalization and stagnation since the end of the civil war, underdevelopment, dilapidation and dearth of infrastructure became very evident The Southeast is rising and becoming more intra-dependent. Opportunities to advance sustainable economic growth and human development are increasing. At the same time, inherently regional challenges become more constraining and have increased the region’s vulnerability to negative shocks. Mitigating these threats and achieving timely and durable progress across the region will require investment in the region's future based on a strategy that emphasizes greater integration, collaboration, cooperation, and partnership with the Federal Government, states, and institutions. Rt.Hon. Kalu's application of experience, passion, and critical legislative skill sets has been the propeller of the huge achievements that he has recorded within such a short time as the deputy speaker, Like the great M.I. Power, Ben Kalu's passion and vision for the overall development of the southeast region birthed the South East Development Commission with the mandate of making life better, improve living conditions, enhance quality of life, and standard of living as well as engineer the inclusive economic, social and cultural development of the southeast and the south easterner. I have been following the attempts by state governors to undermine President Tinubu's efforts to ensure that local governments are granted full autonomy. Since the apex court's pronouncement that granted financial autonomy to local governments, state governors have gone back to their laboratories to research and develop other means to continue to siphon off the resources meant for the development of rural areas. This is why I am calling on the National Assembly to quickly amend the laws to further block the governors' access to authority and funds of the councils. Due to my passion and hunger for inclusive development, one of my major campaign points in the lead-up to the 2023 governorship race was the need to strengthen and empower the local government system to serve as the major developmental pillar. Out of greed and selfishness, governors have resisted the bottom-up approach to governance by fraudulently refusing to conduct local government elections, in flagrant disregard to the provisions of the constitution, all in a bid to siphon and embezzle funds meant for local governments. In my developmental projections for the 2023 general elections, which were documented in my manifesto, I prioritized the autonomy of the local governments and the need to grant them full management of their finances, the collection of revenues, and the allocation of resources without state government interference. Being in touch with the people, I strongly believe that for us to achieve sustainability in rural development and empowerment, we must have a working local government system that will be free from interference by the governors. A local government administration should partner with community-based organizations to achieve people-oriented development. In the recent past, relief items sent by the federal government could not reach the rural populace, where the poorest of the poor reside, because there was no local government administration in place. Those entrusted with the items instead of distributing them through community-based organizations or churches diverted them. For us to achieve an effective and functional local government system, the local governments must be allowed to focus on delivering essential services such as healthcare, education, sanitation, creating jobs, and developing infrastructure for the people without interference from the state governors. I appeal to the National Assembly to join efforts with President Tinubu and save the local government system by making laws that will guarantee free and fair elections to produce choice leadership for the people. This is the only kind of leadership that can harness and utilize available resources for growth and development at the grassroots level and reduce rural-urban migration.

Ikwuano/Umuhia North/Umuahia South, where Is Our Share of The FG Rice Palliative? The House of Representatives Approved President Bola Tinubu’s five hundred billion Naira palliative requests on July 13, 2023, to help cushion the effects of the fuel subsidy removal on Nigerians. The facility is intended to expand coverage of the social safety net support for poor and vulnerable Nigerians across the 360 federal constituencies and 109 senatorial zones. Under this arrangement, every senator was entitled to two hundred million naira worth of rice, while their counterparts in the green chambers were given 100 million naira worth of rice to share with their constituents. For clarity, the Federal Government did not monetize the rice palliative. Instead, the Federal Ministry of Agriculture was given the task of procurement and distribution, with NASS members asked to nominate a contractor to handle the supplies. The contractors were to be paid directly through the Federal Ministry of Agriculture. However, due to logistical challenges and bureaucratic processes, some constituencies couldn't receive their palliative until December 2023. Our investigation revealed that many constituencies received 2 trailer loads of grain, while the senatorial zones received 4 trailer loads of 25kg of rice. Sources at the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security confirmed that as of December 2023, all 360 federal constituencies and 109 senatorial zones had received their full supplies. However, for Abia's central senatorial zone, we cannot immediately confirm who took delivery because of the court judgment that sacked Senator Nwokocha and replaced him with Senator Austin Akobundu. Our sources confirmed that it was Senator Nwokocha who nominated the contractor. Meanwhile, the contractor who handled that of Aba North/South was nominated by Hon. Nnamani, who was sacked by the appeal courts. While we read from the media about representatives from other states distributing the palliative grains to their constituents, in Abia we witnessed only Rt. Hon. Ben Kalu, Hon. Amobi Ogah, Hon. Ginger Onwusibe, Hon. Nkwonta, and H.E Senator Orji Uzor Kalu distributing rice and other palliatives to their constituents. Arochukwu/Ohafia federal constituency was luckier, as their representative, Hon. Ibe Okwara Osonwa, gave three sticks of one-foot-long cassava stems to 27 constituents, while Obingwa/Ugwunagbor/Osisioma federal constituency elected Hon. Munachim Alozie an internationally certified BENCH WARMER into the National Assembly. Ndi Ikwuano, Umuahia North, and Umauhia South, the question that everybody has been asking, and one I will continue to ask, is what happened to our share of the FG rice palliative? (1) Did the FG exclude Ikwuano/Umuahia from the rice palliative given to all federal constituencies in Nigeria? (2) Was ours stolen, or was it lost in transit? (3) Did the contractor abscond with our money, or was it looted? (4) Did the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security confiscate our share of the palliative? (5) Is Ikwuano/Umuahia Federal Constituency not entitled to the FG Palliative grains? If you cant provide answers to these questions will you permit us to believe the trending rumour that the FG Palliative rice meant for distribution to the poorest of the poor in Ikwuano/Umuahia North and Umuahia South was diverted and sold? Please, Hon. Obinna Aguocha, Member Representing Umuahia North, Umuahia South, and Ikwuano we know you are busy with the Mazi Nnamdi Kanu project, but can you take a few minutes and respond to the above questions? Thank you, Uche Aguoru Is A Public Affairs Analyst

I have been receiving numerous calls and inquiries from both home and abroad, seeking my opinion on the calls by constituents requesting information regarding how funds accrued to Ikwuano/Umuahia Federal Constituency are expended. While some believe that it is too early to make such inquiries, others argue that as the Hon. Member Representing Ikwuano/Umuahia North and Umuahia South federal constituency is from Ohuhu, the call for accountability should not come from there. Firstly, it is the constitutional right of constituents to demand periodic reports of their representatives' activities or ask for information when they feel their representation is ineffective. For those arguing that the call for accountability and effective representation should not come from Ndi Ohuhu, given that an Ohuhu man holds the position, I think they are missing the point. If anyone should demand results and good representation, it should be the Ohuhu man. The theme of the campaign was "Oke Ndi Ohuhu," which underlines the sentiment and rights, and stirs emotions in the hearts of every individual, regardless of party affiliation. If Hon. Obi Aguocha fails to achieve the type of representation that Ikwuano/Umuahia should be proud of, it is the Ohuhu man who will bear the shame and taunts. The sister LGAs of Ikwuano and Umuahia South, as well as our Ibeku brothers, will remind us of the poor performance of "NDI OHUHU" when they were given the opportunity. For those saying that it is too early to demand efficient and better representation, let me remind you that one year is a sufficient time for a result-oriented representative to demonstrate capacity and effectiveness. We have examples of his colleagues who are also first-timers and the visible impacts they created in their constituencies in less than one year in office. Having addressed those concerns, I must state clearly that the tenure of Hon. Obi Aguocha is so far the poorest we have had so far in Ikwuano/Umuahia in terms of delivery. Deploying minions to insult and bully those asking questions and demanding a better representation will not address the issue of poor representation currently being experienced in our constituency. We are also aware of some clandestine moves to sponsor individuals who will openly distance themselves from the agitation as a countermeasure and to pass a vote of confidence on Hon. Aguocha. However, that will not address the shortcomings of the current representation, nor will it discourage patriots demanding for quality representation. While the release of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu is important to us Ndi Ikwuano/Umuahia, it is also significant to every Igbo man and does not take the place of a constituency project. The whole nation knows that the agitation for the release of Kanu is being championed by Ohaneze Ndigbo, with the 5 South East Governors providing support, while Rt. Hon. Ben Kalu is leading the camp of the Lawmakers and pushing for a political resolution to the issue. Therefore, hiding under the release of Nnamdi Kanu and seeking attention through media appearances cannot overshadow your failures as our representative. We elected you to bring home democratic deliverables, and so far you have failed in that regard. Rather than waste time and resources trying to silence dissenting voices, it would be more productive if you channel those energies into learning from your colleagues Hon. Ginger Onwusibe, Hon. Amobi Ogah, and Hon. Nkwonta, as it has become evident that you lack the requisite knowledge and legislative skills to attract meaningful developments to Ikwuano/Umuahia. The truth is that your representation is perceived as selfish and has not positively impacted Ikwuano, Umuahia North, or Umuahia South. I firmly believe that there is still room and time for improvement. Perhaps you are not aware that even within the LP family, your elevation into the National Assembly has only led to enmity, division, and disputes that never existed in Ohuhu before. Those demanding better representation are not your enemies, but rather patriots who want you to succeed because much is expected from you, given what you have been entrusted with. Uche Aguoru 13/8/2024
