North Korean leader, Kim Jong Un brought with him his own portable toilet to Singapore for the summit with U.S. president Donald Trump.



South Korean news agency The Chosunilboreported that when Kim arrived in Singapore on an Air China Boeing 747, he was accompanied by an IL-76 transport plane carrying food, “his bullet-proof limousine and a portable toilet.”



Accordingly to Lee Yun-keol, who worked in a North Korean Guard Command unit before defecting to South Korea in 2005, “rather than using a public restroom, the leader of North Korea has a personal toilet that follows him around when he travels,” Lee Yun-keol told the Washington Post.

“The leader’s excretions contain information about his health status so they can’t be left behind,” Lee Yun-keol explained.

According to the South Korean news agency Daily NK, there is a customised bathroom built into Kim’s convoy of vehicles at all times.



“The restrooms are not only in Kim Jong Un’s personal train but whatever small or midsize cars he is traveling with and even in special vehicles that are designed for mountainous terrain or snow,” a source in South Pyongan Province familiar with Kim’s Escort Command told the DailyNK in 2015. “There are multiple vehicles within the convoy so that people cannot tell which one he is in, and there is a separate car that acts as his restroom.”

The football governing body FIFA has officially unveiled new trophies for 2018 world cup in Russia.

The much coveted trophies are the Golden Ball for the World Cup’s best player, the Golden Shoe for the top goalscorer and the Golden Glove for the best goalkeeper.

The previous winners of the trophies from 2014 world cup are Lionel Messi, James Rodríguez and Manuel Neuer respectively.

The 2018 World Cup tournament is set to begin on June 14th and end on July 15th – with 736 players from 32 nations in Russia for a feast of football.

Real Madrid defender Marcelo met and congratulated the Malian migrant Mamoudou Gassama popularly known as the “Spider-Man” who saved a child in Paris.

The meeting which was held yesterday in France ended well as the Brazilian star player signed an autograph on his jersey which he gave to Gassama and also encouraged him.

Brazilian and PSG defender Thiago Silva was also present.

The Malian migrant scaled four-storeys up a building in Paris, France to rescue a dangling toddler. Mamoudou Gassama who was nicknamed the Spiderman of Paris – climbed the city apartment block to reach the helpless child.

The gesture earned him honorary French citizenship after meeting with the president, Emmanuel Macron and also a job with the Paris fire service.

A US man who was convicted for a crime he didn’t commit has been released and will be paid a whopping sum of $13 million.

A man jailed for 25 years for a rape and murder he didn’t commit will be paid $13m.

Anthony Wright was sentenced to life in prison in the US for the 1991 slaying of his neighbour, Louise Talley, 77, who was raped and repeatedly stabbed.

The conviction was reversed in 2014 after DNA evidence pointed to a former crack addict who died in a South Carolina prison.

Wright filed a federal lawsuit accusing police of writing a false confession and coercing him to sign it without reading it, and planting other evidence used to convict him.

The city of Philadelphia said on Wednesday the settlement doesn’t include an admission of liability.

Mayor Jim Kenney called the agreement a fair resolution of a case he called “tragic”.

In the song produced by Mr Lekki, Eedris accused Obasanjo of corruption and killing the people of Odi.

Obasanjo and Eedris first had their face off in 2004 when the rapper released a song titled ‘Nigeria Jaga Jaga’.

The Global Peace Index, GPI, has ranked Nigeria as the 16th least peaceful country in the world in the year 2018.

The report, released yesterday, ranked Nigeria 16 out of a total of 163 countries surveyed.

Iceland is the most peaceful country, closely followed by New Zealand and Austria while Syria is ranked least peaceful, coming after Afghanistan and South Sudan respectively.

In Sub-Sahara Africa, Nigeria is ranked 40 out of 44 countries, with Mauritius topping the list, while South Sudan is ranked least.

According to the report produced by the Institute for Economics and Peace, IEP, global level of peace has deteriorated by 0.27 per cent in the last year, marking the fourth successive year of deterioration.

It also said that the world is “less peaceful today than at any time in the last decade.”

The report added that 92 countries deteriorated, while only 71 improved. Nigeria is one of such countries, up one place from its 2017 ranking of 149.

It covers 99.7 per cent of the world’s population and uses 23 qualitative and quantitative indicators from “highly respected sources” to compile the index. These indicators are grouped into three key domains: ‘ongoing conflict’, ‘safety and security’, and ‘militarisation’.

“There’s been a gradual decline in peacefulness over the last decade,” said Steve Killelea, head of IEP.

“The reason for this slow, gradual decline in peacefulness really comes back to the conflicts in the Middle East and North Africa, and the spillover effects into other areas.”

The head coach of Germany, Joachim Low has announced his 23-man squad for the 2018 World Cup in Russia but left out hot sensation Leroy Sane.

The 22-year-old star who scored 14 goals and contributed 15 assists this season to help Manchester City win the Premiership title was deemed surplus to requirements by Joachim Low.

Before the list was announced, Sane who also scooped Premier League young player of the year was pictured with fellow German stars Julian Brandt, Leon Goretzka, Jonas Hector, Joshua Kimmich and Marc-Andre ter Stegen during a chat with German Chancellor Angela Merkel on Monday, before he was brutally axed.



‘That was a very close decision between him and Julian Brandt, which was made in favor of Brandt,’ Low said in his press conference on Monday.

‘Draxler, Reus and (Thomas) Muller are set. Leroy has a huge talent. He will be back again from September. He had not arrived in international matches yet.

If it was a 100m race, it would have been a photo finish. He already has something extraordinary in the game and that speed that is needed internationally.

And, moreover, he can make a difference in some games with his speed. If he continues to develop, he will be very happy to us in the future.’

Argentina football stars are to play at Jerusalem’s Teddy Kollek Stadium on Saturday night in a World Cup warm-up match which has attracted Israeli fans, mainly because of world champion, Lionel Messi's planned participation.

But the Palestinians are not happy that the match will be held in Jerusalem and have threatened to burn Messi's shirts.

The Palestine Football Association chief, Jibril Rajoub wrote to Claudio Tapia, the head of the Argentinian FA, last week accusing Israel of using the match as a “political tool”.

“The Israeli government has turned a regular sports match into a political tool. As was widely covered in Argentinian media, the match now is being played in order to celebrate the ‘70th anniversary of the State of Israel’,” part of Rajoub’s letter said.

Facebook is on the defensive again over how it handles people's personal data. Under scrutiny this time is the company's practice of sharing information about its users with dozens of smartphone and tablet makers.  



A New York Times investigation published late on Sunday revealed the scope of data-sharing deals Facebook struck over the years with companies like Apple, Samsung and Microsoft.



The partnerships give some device makers access to Facebook users' education history, relationship status, work, religion, political leaning and upcoming events, the Times reported.



In a blog post, Facebook confirmed some parts of the Times' report but disputed others. It said it forged partnerships with around 60 companies back when mobile phones were less powerful and app stores did not yet exist. The social media company said it gave device makers access to software only so they could build versions of Facebook that worked on different phones or operating systems.

At least 10 Boko Haram fighters have been killed in an operation by the Nigerian Army at Ngelkona in Ngala local government area of Borno.

Col. Onyema Nwachukwu, Deputy Director Public Relations of the Nigerian Army’s Theatre Command Operation Lafiya Dole, confirmed this on Saturday in Maiduguri.

He said that the operation was conducted by troops of 153 Task Battalion with support of the Cameroonian Defence Forces deployed in Operation Lafiya Dole at about 11:30 a.m.

“The terrorists, who were mounted on horse-back were overpowered by the troops in a fierce shoot out, as the gallant troops killed the insurgents and recovered two AK 47 rifles from them. Other items recovered from the insurgents include one Boko Haram flag, a set of bow and arrows, two mobile handset. and one Cameroonian International Passport.

“In a separate clearance operation, troops of 82 Task Force Battalion of Operation Lafiya Dole on Saturday night attacked and routed fleeing elements of Boko Haram insurgents at Ngoshe in Gwoza Local Government Area. During the attack, troops killed one insurgent and recovered one AK 47 rifle, 41 rounds of locally fabricated ammunition and four Improvised Explosive Devices(IED). The recovered IEDs have been safely defused by the Explosive Ordnance Disposal team he said .

“In another operational encounter, troops of 27 Task Force Battalion of Operation Lafiya Dole, on a long range fighting patrol, on Friday 1st June 2018 successfully conducted a raid operation on Boko Haram camp in Yaridiri forest in Geidam Local Government Area of Yobe state. “During the raid, the superior fire power of the troops forced the insurgents to flee in disarray with gunshot wounds, abandoning a huge sum of money and several other items,” he said. He added that the troops also recovered three AK 47 rifle magazines, 21 rounds of 7.62 mm (Special) ammunition, a motorcycle and two mobile handsets”.



According to him, the troops also recovered the N2,280,000 from the hideout.
