Politics / Re: Buhari Did Not Win The Election; Something Else Did - Opinion by Naijasingleguy: 1:24pm On Apr 02, 2015
obailala:
Obviously tribalism still reigns supreme in the hearts of Nigerians... No matter how hard we try to downplay or deny it, the fact is that there's a bit of tribalism in every man (even in the almighty USA, a black man who didn't vote Obama is viewed in a strange way by his folks).

The entire north voted for Buhari = Pure tribalism
The entire SS & SE voted for GEJ = Pure tribalism

In this election, the SW and middle belt were a bit torn on whom to support hence the voting pattern in these regions were more reasonable and not tribally biased. In 2011, the SW and MB voted for Jonathan because all Nigerians believed he was a breathe of fresh air. After an abysmal performance, the people in these regions took a U-turn and voted against Jonathan (even though the results were still almost 50-50).

You know right from time it has always been the NORTH VS EAST. The West only gets to take sides with either of them. It happened during the civil war. They took sides with the NORTH; last election, they took sides with the EAST and SS and now this time they've pitched tent again with the NORTH. Can we now say that it is possible the S/WEST is not the region much tribalistic here?

DesChyko:
Anybody who undermines the influence of religion and tribalism in Nigerian politics is just acting ignorant.
It is very much an active part of Nigerian political atmosphere and if it must be eradicated, it must start from the North.

Start from the North? I subtly disagree sir! Part of the North voted massively for Jonathan the last time and even this year he still got part of the Middle Belt. It should start form US ALL!
Politics / Re: Buhari Did Not Win The Election; Something Else Did - Opinion by Naijasingleguy: 1:18pm On Apr 02, 2015
thunder74:
I agreed with you OP.
Religion too is a factor, many of my Muslim friends supported Buhari religiously while some church people too thump printed for GEJ. Assuming the SS & SE people were not intimidated out of the North because of fear of violence and many SS & SE people came out en-mass and ethnically to vote like the North, GEJ could have won the election.
It is not Buhari that won the election, religion and ethnicity did.

Exactly bro! Religion and ethnicity did. Just look at the image, it clearly divides the country between the North/Southwest (Nigeria) and Biafra

Politics / Buhari Did Not Win The Election; Something Else Did - Opinion by Naijasingleguy: 11:32am On Apr 02, 2015
My very good friend whose smile is like a shine of the bright morning sun said she “won’t and can’t congratulate Buhari” even though she has accepted the result. This is same with many people I know and even those I do not know. I as well will not congratulate Buhari, instead, Jonathan and Jega deserves the applaud

On Tuesday, 31st of March, I glued to the TV (Channels to be precise) and my spirit got elated as the numbers for the General were increasing. I never understood why (because I’d rather throw my vote to KOWA) but I realised that it is not Buhari nor APC that I love but it is the President’s 6 years of mal-administration (that is my opinion and may not hold true to you) that I detest to repeat for another four years.

All results were called (except Bornu) and it was clear the controversial General would mount the chariots of Aso Rock come May 29. I felt dejected in sudden milestones of demi seconds. My Uncle (GEJ’s patriot as I would love to call him grin ) asked “WHY”
I told him “sir, take a look at the states that the General won and those that he lost”
Clearly he won no South South and South East states. He lost only one state in the South West. Pity!

Permit me to say Buhari did not win this election; TRIBALISM DID. Look around you. Try to point one or two fans of the President elect and the candidate of the other divide, I bet you only less than 3% of the SS & SE you know support the General, Others? GEJ has their vote.

Permit me to say that ‘Nigeria’ and Biafra still exist deep in us and the church is not helping matters. I pass through the popular Balogun Market in Lagos every Thursday and I see the Igbo traders having their fellowship and the Yoruba traders having their own fellowship just down, opposite the road. We lie when we assume one Nigeria. We’re just mouth washing it. It is not real.

The Youths? (now another dimension) we’re almost lost in what the leaders are doing to us. In school (Unizik) we have CASOR (under AGC) we also have a recent breakout AGSF (Assemblies of God Students Fellowship). The same is about to repeat itself on the NYSC level. AGCF (Assemblies of God Corpses Fellowship) has been formed (a national coordinator has been appointed) and NCCF (Nigeria Christian Corpers Fellowship) exists even as Winners, RCCG, Catholic, and Anglican, all having separate congregation of youths.

Asari Dokunbo said it all yesterday, we all are still tribalistic. There is no ONE Nigeria YET! I salute GEJ. Evil counsel given to him did not prevail. Ahiithophel has been disgraced. GEJ is a hero for true democracy. Jega should be celebrated! And Buhari? Let’s watch and AND STILL PRAY! For it is the perpetual prayers of the saints that is still keeping us peaceful till this moment. Believe me WE PRAYED for this moment

And I will also like to say that the diverse prophesies that ‘did not click’ are not to be mocked! I believe something that I have learnt from man of God piloting Koinonia (Eternity Network International). He said “THE LORD REVEALS TO REDEEM” The Lord revealed what would happen so that WE WILL PRAY and the situation will be redeemed! For this, I shall spend one month of my morning devotions praising JEHOVAH. HE DID IT!

Politics / His Experience At The 2011 General Elections by Naijasingleguy: 3:28pm On Mar 28, 2015
This is a post by Omoniyi Temitope Mayowa

2011 general elections, I worked as a presiding officer in one of the polling unit in ward 5 in Sapele local government.

I chose not to allow rigging in my polling booth. I was offered money by some thugs to give them ballot papers, i refused.

My polling booth was attacked by thugs…I escaped to the collation center with my result sheet and cancelled the election.

The chairman of Sapele local government popularly called “Atose” threatened to kidnap me and never to be seen again. I narrowly escaped to the INEC office.

He later kidnapped some of my friends, took them to his house, forced them to sign ballot papers and subtly threatened them when they refused to collect the bribe he offered them (my friend collected it and used the money to buy noodles for an orphanage).

My experience as an electoral officer.

Webmasters / MTN! This Is Why I May Start Cheating You Very SOON! by Naijasingleguy: 11:32am On Mar 26, 2015
As I type this right now I feel almost frustrated. How can MTN do this to me! Me, their loyal customer. Aahh! How can I spend so much money on data and I am suddenly cut off from what I am suppose to enjoy? I will reconsider my stance o. I will. After all you guys seem not to care about your products. Yes. I know I am one of your products, the same thing with Facebook too. Because if I do not have a phone now or collect that free SIM you people share like father Christmas by putting toy-like computers in the hands of hustling youths trying to have some change in the pocket, there is no way you will have phone numbers to send some ruuubbishh messages you people send every minute.

You send messages to us as if we are robots ourselves. This minute it is ‘Isaiah 54′ the next minute, I’ll receive ‘Engineering Class’ SMS. Na wetin? Am I an engineer? That Marketing Communications guy in your office needs to be sacked sef (abeg not now o! No jobs yet). How can he not filter the numbers and send to the right audience? Mtcheeew!

Now to the matter:

I was in office one day when a colleague told me about MTN’s 4.5Gb for 2500 naira. In fact she boasted about it as contrary to Glo’s hypnotized magnet use in holding Naija peeps to a delusion of fast internet (which never lasted though). I was intrigued by the offer and opted for it. Wow!!! 4.5Gb? Can anything good actually come out MTN? This was a deal fair enough for me even if it was 1.5Gb for the day and 3Gb for the night starting from 9.pm.

I was on this plan for months because it saved me from the network cheats I would ordinary use. I wanted to be sane for once. Etisalat would exploit me like an oil field in the Arab nation. Giving a meagre 200MB for N1000 is instinctively outrageous wicked and off the hooks of the ‘ordinary Nigerian’. And Airtel? Please don’t go there. I’ve never seen anything move in the air go so slow. I mean slower than the snails. So I stopped using other networks completely and the android cheats for browsing. I was happy yayyyy!

Fast forward to today. A message was sent to me by MTN telling me that my remaining MB is 2 out of 1000 Mb I’m to use. “Huh? 1000? ‘nibo’ (for where?) 1000 ke”. Am I no supposed to be on 1.5Gb? Where is my 0.5Gb? Oleeeee! MTN Oleeeee!!! It is very incredible. How possibly could I have used even 1Gb when I usually switch to Wi-Fi whenever I enter the office. This is a lie from the pit of NCC, orchestrated to defraud harmless Nigerians like me.

I waited till after I left the office thinking the message was a huge joke. Why should MTN do this to me na?

P.S: My only use of phone browsing data is on my way to and fro the workplace. It is occasional I use it at home. Moreover, once it is 9pm, I’ve switched to the night plan of 3Gb so the day plan should not just quench like that.

Presently I’m just in the bus looking and typing this out of obvious tiredness and dejection. MTN well done o! You are the cause of my present predicament. You guys are only forcing me to move back to my old life of using cheats. I belong to a group on whatsapp where MTN cheats with Simple Server flow almost daily. Screenshots of over 20Gb used free of charge or with just N100 stare me in the face. But I refused to indulge in similar acts because I just want to be sane and conduct myself as a typical Naija guy (very single, ladies take note). Na wa o!

Off I drop my pen here. Subsequently I shall expose all these of acts of exploiters in this nation. The other sins of MTN I will say later. For now let me cool off before this bus I’m in burns with the heat in my bones. Thank you for reading lovely people. But wait o! Android users please which ‘sane’ plan are you on? I really need to port to something better or am I on the right plan

Career / Are Some Offices Working From Home Tomorrow? by Naijasingleguy: 11:07am On Mar 26, 2015
Hello all. I just want to confirm if there is any other firm working from home or closing for tomorrow? I just got a mail that we (in our firm) shall be working from home because of the elections. I think this will give me some time to do some things like BVN and also prepare for the elections

So is your firm working from home? Are you going to work tomorrow?
