Sex workers take over Delta Skill Centre. In what could be described as shocking and unfortunate, hoodlums, commercial sex workers, have reportedly taken over the Delta State Women Affairs Skill Acquisition Centre, Asaba. Facilities of the skill acquisition centre which was built by the wife of the former governor of the state, Mrs. Nkoyo Ibori, in 1999 including 40 sewing machines and 60 computers allegedly stolen and allegedly been harbouring all sorts of miscreants, including commercial sex workers, who during nightfall, have converted many of the rooms into sex slaughter slabs. According to a report by Punch, other vital equipments of the centre was also carted away by armed hoodlums broke into the centre (from naij.com).

The Peoples Democratic Party is broke and it has cut the salaries of its workers at the national headquarters by 35 per cent, The PUNCH has learnt. The leadership of the former ruling PDP, our correspondent learnt, decided to slash the salaries of the workers because of the dwindling income of the party, which was ousted from power barely four months ago after it had controlled power at the centre for 16 years. Some of the workers at the party’s Wadata House national secretariat in Abuja told our correspondent on Monday that they had agreed to the cut.

Assets Declaration: 'We Will Not Publicly Declare Our Assets' – APC Govs

The Coalition Against Corrupt Leaders, CACOL, has come hard on the decision of governors of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, not to publicly declare their assets as President Muhammadu Buhari and Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo have done.

It will be recalled that the APC governors said it was not compulsory for them to declare their assets publicly and that they would not be pressured into following the President’s example, adding that there was no law mandating them to publicly state the worth of their assets and liabilities.

Reacting to this, the Executive Director, CACOL, Mr. Debo Adeniran, in a statement on Saturday, dismissed the governors’ excuse, saying it was a known fact that public assets declaration, a standard practice in the developed world, increases transparency and the trust of citizens in their elected representatives (dailypost.ng).

A Senate committee has asked the Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Ibrahim Lamorde, to appear before it on Wednesday over allegations that he diverted over N1 trillion being proceeds from corruption recovered by the anti-graft agency. The Senate Committee on Ethics, Privileges and Public Petitions is reacting to a petition sent to the Upper House by one George Uboh, who claimed that part of the money diverted by the EFCC boss included the loot recovered from a former Governor of Bayelsa State, Diepreye Alamieyeseigha, and ex-Inspector-General of Police, Tafa Balogun (culled from dailytimes.com.ng). It is worrisome that a lot of these allegations point to misdeeds from the period when the last government was in office. I wonder whether these issues would have come up if the Jonathan administration won the last elections. Or would it just have been business as usual in the underworld of graft and political thievery? The country is long over due for this purging of the polity and love him or hate him, it seems President Buhari’s own stance on zero tolerance to corruption is having a positive wave through the country. Let the revival continue!
