amaridigital: You are wrong. There are more Yoruba critics of Tinubu than there are ibo critics of obi. Just yesterday the leader of Afenifere uttered a damning offensive statement against the president's party that ohanaeze will never say against Obi or his party ever. Even the guy calling a sitting president a criminal is a Yoruba man. You think they dont know. They do , they only pretend not to. Anything to glorify themselves and put others down makes them happy. Very delusional people. I pity those who try to please them., they always will have themselves to blame at the end. |

sammyscholar: For every single ShopRite outlet that closes in Nigeria, more than 20 outlets of indigenous supermarket brands (of global standard) have opened. This is my industry.
Truth is, since the foray of Nigerian capitalists into the supermarket business in Nigeria, ShopRite has struggled. These local players understand the local nuances of the business and are able to serve the customers better.
The model operates by ShopRite is no longer feasible in a complex and unique market like that of Nigeria.
Another issue that I feel ShopRite has after selling to the current operator is the lack of management understanding of the discipline, hard work and frugality that running a supermarket requires. This is not oil and gas that you just invest and watch your fortune grow. Supermarket thrives on tight operations. Finally i am reading a very insightful and sensible analysis regarding this topic. Very apt. But seriously, there too many dumb people on Nairaland from my observation . |

Its either most are dead upstairs or they simply possesed by 1 demon that has eaten sense of reasoning off the brain . |

Stiff competition drove them out. What you guys commenting wrongly dont know is that in Nigeria there are billionaires with the big bucks who will invest into any new line of business that pulls numbers. Why not ask yourselves how come the likes of Justright, Jendol, FoodCo , even Grocery bazaar to mention but a few thrives so well with huge customers. Or Bokku. They are mostly indigenous super stores. Owned by Nigerians , they certainly know what the foreign SR diesnt know about local content. Let that sink in. The heat of that competition drove them out . |

The police should spread their dragnet across the country, especially towards the South West. Folks over there see job/business/political competitions as a matter of life.and death.. [quote author=Broveens42 post=135904219]This is a special appeal to the Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodinma:
Sir, I'm appealing to your good conscience, to stop open grazing in the city of owerri. One may wonder what informs the decision of herders and their cows, to roam in the most beautiful capital city in Nigeria.
I appreciate your conscientious efforts in developing all zones in Imo State, but you must not lose focus, by paying lip service to the activities of this herders in owerri (the mirror image of Imo). Constitutionally, the law permits freedom of persons from one point to another, but must not be done in a manner, as to cause injury, pain or loss to persons occupying a particular geographical space.
Finally, as an indigenous Son of Imo State, it is my desire Imo remains a holiday destination and center of economic prosperity. For the records. I beg your pardon. That is not the most beautiful capital town in Nigeria. Owerri is not close to UYO or Calabar or PH. Stop misleading people who are not in Nigeria. Thank you . I hope with this few corrections of mine I have been able to draw your consciousness to the error you stated regarding the most beautiful capital .
So for your info once again. Owerei is not the most beautiful capital in south eastern Nigeria. Talk less of the entire Nigeria. UYO, Calabar far beats Owerei. |

Autos › Re: A Look At BMW’s 5-star, Circular Headquarters In South Africa - PICTURES by Naz34(m): 2:00pm On May 06, 2025 |
Reference: The colonial paths of both countries were entirely different. The main difference that has led to a more 'European look' to parts (not all) of SA obviously at the expense of nationhood is that South Africa was essentially fought over by two distinct colonial powers, the Dutch and the British.
When conflict like this happens it leads to a different outcome from when one colonial power establishes sole rule.
For one, the powers invest more to 'settle down and defend' from the other because they essentially had to live off the land to sustain any conflict.
So there is a difference between a colonial master that just wants to 'take and go away' and one that stays to build things for himself out of planning for the long run, for ever.
The good things seen in SA have come at a heavy price of prolonged colonial rule and the sufferings of apartheid that has scarred that country for generations.
Be careful what you wish for.... in retrospect.
PS. If the British had adopted Nigeria (the Niger area) as their own in deed and stayed as long as the 90's, integrating and grafting into the root canal of the country, many parts (the parts they conclaved) will have looked like these be it Lagos, Calabar or Jos....where vestages of the British remain today. Finally. The only sensible person on this thread just showed. All others are just uneducated. School no be scam. |

RandDigital: German automaker BMW’s circular office in Midrand, Johannesburg, won a 5-star rating for its environmentally friendly features.
BMW, which also owns Mini and Rolls-Royce, moved into its South African headquarters in Midrand in 2015.
The iconic building is located next to Pretoria Main Road and off the N1 Highway. It is close to Grand Central Airport and the Midrand stop on the Gautrain.
About 600 associates work in the building, with diverse fields including marketing, human resources, business strategy, and example sales for the BMW brand, Mini and BMW Motorcycle.
The main building in Midrand is part of an “open campus,” which also includes the offices of the Financial Services section and the on-site training centre.
The group’s website states, “Our uniquely designed atrium garden invites you to take a moment of relaxation and reload your energy. “
The Green Building Council of South Africa awarded the building a 5-star rating in 2015 for its environmentally friendly features.
The rating made BMW South Africa the first automotive company in South Africa to receive the rating.
The rating considered the indoor environment quality, energy, transport, water, materials, land use, ecology, emissions, and innovations.
Variables that added to Midrand HQ’s GBCSA 5-star rating included:
Glass and solar-controlled louvres installed within the internal façade of the building, enabling enhanced daylight and thermal comfort.
90% of the office’s usable area now has an external view, providing good levels of daylight for occupants.
The peak electrical demand on the building was reduced by 30%, which included an extensive use of LED lighting throughout the building.
5% of the parking bays are now dedicated to alternative fuel and hybrid vehicles, while 5% are reserved for motorbikes, mopeds and scooters.
Water-efficient sanitary fittings were installed throughout the building.
Water meters were installed for all major water uses and connected to a Building Management System to support proper facility management of water consumption.
A dedicated storage area was provided for waste recycling,
All topsoil impacted by the construction was separated and protected from degradation, erosion, or mixing with fill or waste, and it still remains onsite.
In addition to its Midrand headquarters, BMW has a manufacturing plant in Rosslyn, Pretoria, and an IT hub in Menlyn, Pretoria. Stop using Nigerias forum to chase clouth of division and discord among her people. You should rather give this info to SA people in your local forum. I know what your intentions are Anytime you visit nairaland. Not all the people can be supid all the time. Do well and inform your country people about your info. Millions in soweto and across SA doesnt know something like this bmw building exist in their country. |

The bolt driver stated that he was struck three times and had his clothes torn to shreds simply for requesting that the lawmaker, Ikwechegh, step outside to collect his package.
