The Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa, on Monday, July 8, said the recent bombings in Gwoza and Pulka towns in Gwoza Local Government Area of ​​Borno State were intended to embarrass the government.

During a courtesy visit to Governor Caleb Mutfwang of Plateau State, General Musa assured Nigerians that the perpetrators of these acts would not succeed, reaffirming the government’s commitment to maintaining security and stability.

Man hospitalized after ingesting 7 bottles of hand sanitizer

A 26-year-old French man suffering from severe alcoholism started drinking hand sanitizer to satisfy his alcohol cravings, setting off a chain of events that landed him in a local emergency room.


What happened?
The patient, who has not been named, visited the emergency room (ER) complaining of severe abdominal pain. It was later revealed that his real motive was to obtain high-concentration alcohol-based hand sanitizer at the hospital.

On arrival, the young man appeared distressed and, according to medical professionals, “vocal at times.” Despite his complaints of pain, examination revealed that his abdominal condition was normal, but his general hygiene was poor and his heart rate was slightly higher than normal. He was given intravenous medication, including morphine, but he continued to complain.

Further tests, including an abdominal scan, were carried out but did not reveal the cause of the pain.

Nasarawa women mineworkers call for end to sexual harassment and violence

The Women in Mineworkers of Nigeria (WIMIN) in collaboration with the Ford Foundation has called on the Nasarawa State Government to urgently address the issues of sexual harassment and gender-based violence (GBV) plaguing female mineworkers in the state.


WIMIN is a non-governmental organisation that aims to increase women’s participation in the mineral exploration and mining sector in Nigeria, focusing on community engagement, research, capacity building and strategic dialogue.

Speaking at the opening ceremony of a three-day training for service providers on Gender-Based and Sexual Violence in Lafia on Monday, the Chairperson of WIMIN, Janet Adeyemi, who was represented by her Vice-Chairperson, Regina Ezeuwa, lamented the rise in gender-based violence and other issues affecting members and women in the 13 local governments of the state.

The Grains Are Still Not Released To Nigerians 2 Weeks After Tinubu's Order

The grains are yet to be released to Nigerians two weeks after President Bola Tinubu gave the directive to the agriculture ministry.

Recall that two weeks ago, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu directed the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security to release 42,000 metric tonnes of maize, millet and other products from the national strategic reserve free of charge to Nigerians.

The Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, Abubakar Kyari, said last Wednesday at a press conference in Abuja that the grains would be distributed free of charge to poor Nigerians. He further revealed that the grains would be released to the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) for onward distribution to Nigerians because the agency has the country's poverty rate.
