You're not alone, I've been called arrogant since primary school... I only open up when I'm around my friends and family.

Sometimes someone would come to the house announced and I'd just keep quiet until they leave... I remember this one time my parents were expecting a delivery, but were not gonna be around on the day of the delivery and it happened that it was only going to be me around the house... To my greatest surprise, they went and told one of our neighbours about the delivery and asked the lady to be the one to accept it on their behalf and show the delivery man where to place the parcel around the house... When I asked my parents why they did it, they told me they didn't want to disturb me since I didn't like visitors.

It really hurt my feelings because it felt like I was none existent to them...🤦🤦🤦... I knew about the delivery because I heard them talking about it, so when I heard a car park outside and the gate open, I rushed to the door, only for the neighbour to come rushing, intercepted the delivery man and proceeded directing him where to place the parcel as if I was standing there invisible... They only acknowledged my presence after they were done talking with each other.

But I've learnt to develop an alter ego over the years so that people no longer see me as an arrogant weirdo whenever I'm in public.
