PoliticsYou Used And Dumped The Church – Nigerians Criticize Peter Obi by NLCreator(op): 11:15am On Nov 03, 2024
@DanielRegha
Peter Obi is talking about politics & church, imagine the hypocrisy. Coming from the same person who was seen attending different churches during the campaign season? Why didn't he talk about turning night vigils into night shifts back then, or the churches he attended don't hold night vigils? Some things are better left unsaid, he made zero points.
@Bummiearo
We know Obi as a hypocrite.
He used religion to his advantage during the election. He was the poster boy as the most holy candidate in Nigeria using the church.
He should keep deceiving himself and followers
@SaintDeeCFC
Politicians have always been liars and hypocrites.

Obi is a politician whose words hold no weight... Just lies and hypocrisy.

He talks about development like he has never ruled a State before.
@Waspapping_
Peter Obi used and abandoned the Church, just as President Bola Ahmed Tinubu used and abandoned the Mosque.

They’ll both go back in 2027 when the campaign season opens and it’s time to use religion as a tool to garner gullible Nigerian votes.

Peter Obi is indirectly implying that Christians are not productive and only attend night vigils.

Even as a Muslim, I find this very insulting to the Christian faith.
@TheoAbuAgada
Obi don use Church dump them.

Good for all those fanatical Christians and pastors who thought they were voting to save their ‘Faith’.

Lessons.
@Manlike_ED
Peter Obi wouldn’t dare say Nigeria is unproductive because there are mosques everywhere, but here he is speaking against the same Church that gave platform during the last election.

This political fr@ud turned 2023 campaign into religious war using the Church, now he is talking down on the same Church. Follow him at your own peril.
@Timi_The_Law
When obi was moving from church to church in 2023 he didn't know there are too many vigils 😂😂😂

How many factories did he build in Anambra?

A fraud through and through
@de_generalnoni
It seems I will resume my focus on this clówn; There’s something fundamentally wrong with this dude!
A very dishonest character….
Is this not you at vigil soliciting votes??
Now he is trying to put church beneath to get Muslim support….
What a dangerôus fellow! As God liveth you won’t be in Aso rock for disrespecting the body of Christ !
I am a Christian first before Nigeria…. 😡

PoliticsMeet The Four Ringleaders Of The Plot To Overthrow Tinubu (Pictures) by NLCreator(op): 9:49am On Nov 02, 2024
Ever wonder why Tinubu has been spending more time in France than Nigeria lately? Turns out, it wasn’t for diplomatic business—it was for survival! Apparently, he’s been on the run from these "criminal masterminds"—a gang of children plotting to overthrow his government! Now that they’ve been apprehended, experts believe Tinubu finally has the safe environment he needs to deliver on his Renewed Hope agenda.

Let’s meet the "ringleaders" of the "coup" to dethrone Nigeria’s "greatest" president.

1. Auta Ibrahim

This 5-year-old genius from Kano masterminded a coup with all the finesse of a Saturday morning cartoon villain. His grand plan? Ambush President Tinubu at a fuel station queue, challenge him to a one-on-one duel, and, upon inevitable victory, crown himself President of Nigeria. Rumor has it he spent weeks rehearsing his presidential wave on the playground, blowing kisses to an adoring crowd of kindergartners. If the coup had succeeded, Auta Ibrahim would’ve not only become the youngest president in the world but also the first to sign bills during snack time and hold press conferences on the monkey bars.

2. Tanko Abubakar

This sweet-looking 9-year-old, affectionately dubbed the “Mogul of Kano Streets,” was the financier behind the coup. After raking in a whopping 500 naira from his almajiri begging business, Tanko decided to take a stand against the rising cost of toys. Out of economic outrage, he plotted to overthrow Tinubu and crash the prices of toys.

He was accused of tossing his hard-earned 500 naira around, enticing other kids to join his rebellion against Tinubu with promises of ice cream and biscuits.

Little did he know, his generous spending spree sent the naira into a tailspin, causing inflation to skyrocket and sending Nigeria’s economy into the bottomless pit, according to self-proclaimed economic experts among Tinubu’s supporters.

"Look what one sweet-faced beggar has done!” the experts lamented. “He’s single-handedly ruined our economy just to fund a coup, all while plotting to become Finance Minister and make toys cheaper!"

3. Tanoma Muhammad

This 5-year-old mastermind was the brains behind the entire mutiny. He skillfully convinced the other kids to believe there was “hunger in Nigeria,” a wildly false claim that sent shockwaves through the kindergarten playground and rallied his followers to plot Tinubu’s downfall.

At one point, he even led a brigade of two-year-olds in a fierce protest against "hardship" (mainly the rising price of ice cream and biscuits).

According to experts, his real agenda was to destabilize Tinubu’s government and swoop in as the Minister of Information under Auta's regime. With his knack for spreading fake news about the snack shortage, he’s already shown he has the perfect qualifications.

4. Adamu Adamu

Though this 6-year-old insists he had nothing to do with the coup, his downfall came when a spy overheard him boldly singing, “Parents, listen to your children, we are the leaders of tomorrow…” Horrified, the informant promptly reported him to authorities, citing the song as undeniable proof of an insidious plot to overthrow Tinubu and seize power by tomorrow.

Meanwhile, Tinubu’s supporters took to the streets in jubilant celebration over the capture of the “infant insurgents.”

Ayo Adenuga passionately claimed that these children were the very reason Tinubu hadn’t yet delivered on his “Renewed Hope” promise. “How could he?” she cried. “The poor man was fleeing Nigeria every other week to dodge their capture attempts! Now, finally, with these little rebels behind bars, Tinubu can safely stay home and start delivering—beginning with that Renewed Hope we were all promised!”

Dominique Olumide went even further, condemning the children for their reckless spending. “These infant plotters dumped their vast almajiri fortunes into our economy, and now look at us!” she exclaimed, holding up a single grain of rice as if it were a diamond. “The price of a bag of rice shot up from 10,000 to 100,000 naira, all because these ambitious little tycoons couldn’t resist throwing their 500-naira fortunes around!”

PoliticsWe Don’t Even Pay Power Bills - Northerners Defend Tinubu, Knock Jaafar Jaafar by NLCreator(op): 5:32pm On Oct 30, 2024
@JaafarSJaafar

Long before the ongoing blackout in the North, there has been an extreme energy dichotomy between the South (particularly Southwest) and the North. This energy drought in the North has forced industries to either close or migrate to South.

The Multi-Year Tariff Order (MYTO) data paints a lopsided image of the energy dichotomy. Eko and Ikeja Discos get 12.94% and 15.22% respectively. This means that Lagos State alone enjoys over 28% of the nation’s electricity supply – more than the combined allocation of the entire North.

From 70s to late 90s, Kano was a mega industrial hub in Nigeria. Bustling textile industries like Gaskiya, Holborn, Universal, Bagauda, ATM, Adhama, Tofa, Angel Spinning & Dyeing, etc that produced export-quality products are either closed or partially operating today. Up to late 90s, there were at least 5 biscuits companies – Kaura, Al-Hilal, Bagauda, Mai Reke and Riviera – operating in Kano. They’re no more today. The first confectionary factory in Nigeria, Nicco Sweets, was established in Kano in 1960. Later, more confectionaries such as Amka, Madina and Rana toffees established their factories in the state. Their sites today give pitiable sight to behold. They have either become warehouses or scrapyards for recycling plastics.

But who is to blame for this? I blame the past Northern leaders who did nothing to improve the energy imbalance and restore our lost industrial glory.

PoliticsPower Outage Is A Conspiracy To Cripple Northern Economy - ACF by NLCreator(op): 11:17am On Oct 29, 2024
Amid the power outage in the northern part of the country due to the vandalisation of electricity transmission lines, the Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF) has claimed that there are growing insinuations that the Federal Government is deliberately using the power blackout which has lingered for days to short change the region and further deepen its economic woes.

The forum in a statement by its National Publicity Secretary, Tukur Muhammad-Baba, asked the Federal Government to quickly declare a state of emergency on the persisting outage and inequality electricity supply in the region.

“Over the past one week and still counting, most parts of the northern states of Nigeria have been battling with sustained electric power supply outage, leading to near total paralysis in economic and social activities, not to talk of growing generalised frustration of the populace,” the group said.

The Forum said the situation appears even more dire and frightening as statements from the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) suggest that the problem is likely to persist interminable due to technical and security challenges.

ACF wondered why the north which generates substantial electricity power in the country is ironically allocated the least in supply.

It noted that it just does not make any sense that Lagos alone has eight sub-stations while the whole of the northern states combined, harbouring more than half of Nigeria’s total population has only three sub-stations at Jos, Kaduna, and Kano.

The forum warned that the situation at hand is a portent national security threat, against which the silence, especially, of public officials amounts to a phenomenal textbook illustration of the abdication of responsibility, as unacceptable as can be.

“To suggest that the problem has its roots in what had been done or not in the past is merely to make excuses. To lamely offer unintelligent excuses – excuses, not reason – that the problem cannot be immediately addressed due to banditry along power supply lines is to totally surrender to the terroristic criminals,” the group said.

“It is inconceivable that Nigeria’s fairly vast array of security agencies, with their humongous budgetary allocations, cannot dislodge and subdue the rag-tag bandits, reclaim and dominate territory.

“Not unexpectedly, the problem has been a subject of intense debate and lamentations in the media, neighbourhood gatherings, business premises, etc. The smallest of small businesses (such as telephone recharge points, barbing salons, food processors, drinks sellers, etc.), from which millions eke out a daily living are unable to operate. It has also been the same with medium-scale enterprises (such as rice mills, bread, and confectionary bakers), that do not have alternative sources of power or cannot afford associated high fuel costs.

“Home and office operate without cooling and heating and at night are literally thrown into the medieval dark ages of the primitive, pre-civilisation era. ACF notes that there has emerged, and growing, palpably evidence that it is to the utter consternation and disappointment of people that the problem appears to attract only deafening silence, suggesting indifference, from those who are constitutionally expected to respond with care and concern”.

ACF therefore, called on the Federal Government and other relevant authorities concerned to declare a state of emergency on the problem before it snowballs into a crisis.

“This threat to national security should forthwith be treated with the seriousness it deserves. The problem be addressed with the honest URGENCY it deserves. It also called for an immediate review of power supply allocation in the country since all consumers pay for it, adding that It is unacceptable that while the North acts as a candle that supplies light, it is being melted down and plunged into darkness.

“This ought to and must change with immediate effect in the interest of national stability, fairness, and equity, and alls on elected northern state governors and, members of the National Assembly representing constituencies in the northern states to speak out more vehemently and stridently demanding action on the problem as outlined above”.

PoliticsHow Tinubu Marginalised Other Ethnic Nationalities To Favour Yoruba - SR by NLCreator(op): 7:06pm On Oct 28, 2024
How President Tinubu Marginalised Other Ethnic Nationalities To Favour Yoruba In Key, Sensitive Positions Against Federal Character Act

Since his inauguration in 2023, President Bola Tinubu has continued to appoint Yoruba people to key positions, marginalising other regions in disregard of the Federal Character Act.

A check by SaharaReporters revealed that sensitive appointments made so far by President Tinubu are lopsided as they mainly favour Yoruba people.

The President is Yoruba, from southwest Nigeria.

Some have argued that Tinubu's appointments mirror the actions of his predecessors, particularly former President Buhari, who was accused of nepotism and favoring northern Nigerians in key positions.

Checks showed that most members of the President’s kitchen cabinet led by his Chief of Staff, Femi Gbajabiamila, are from the southwest region.

It also showed Tinubu appointed his people to head most of the security agencies.

Some of the Yoruba people appointed by Tinubu to key positions are the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun; Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja; Director General of the Department of State Services, Mr Adeola Oluwatosin Ajayi; Executive Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, Olanipekun Olukoyede and Comptroller-General of Nigerian Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi.

Others are Comptroller General (CG) of the Nigeria Immigration Service, Kemi Nandap; Commander of the Guards Brigade (Presidential Villa), Brigadier General Adebisi Onasanya; Chief Security Officer (CSO) to President, Rasheed Lawal, who recently replaced Adegboyega Fasasi and Aide-De-Camp (ADC) Nurudeen Yusuf, a Yoruba man from Kwara state.

Section 14 (3) of the Federal Character Act of the Constitution states as follows, “The composition of the Government of the Federation or any of its agencies and the conduct of its affairs shall be carried out in such a manner as to reflect the federal character of Nigeria and the need to promote national unity, and also to command national loyalty, thereby ensuring that there shall be no predominance of persons from a few states or from a few ethnic or other sectional groups in that Government or in any of its agencies."

However, under Tinubu, the southwest region takes the bulk of the appointments.

While the southwest region has 11 ministers and ministers-designate, the southeast region could only boast of five.

The Ministers of Finance, Education, Trade and Industry (designate), Petroleum (President Tinubu), Marine & Blue Economy, Power, Communications, Interior, Solid Minerals, Youth and Environment and Ecological Management (State) are all Yoruba from the southwest region.

Though, the Minister of Justice and Attorney General, Lateef Olasunkanmi Fagbemi (SAN) is another Yoruba man in the cabinet, he is from Kwara State in the North Central region.

Many of the President’s appointees to head key agencies and parastatals are also Yoruba from Tinubu’s region.

These are the Central Bank of Nigeria, Bank of Industry, Federal Inland Revenue Service, Nigeria Incentive-Based Risk Sharing System for Agricultural Lending (NIRSAL Plc.), Bureau of Public Enterprises, Bureau of Public Procurement, Office of the Accountant General of the Federation, and Office of the Head of Service of the Federation.

Others are State House Permanent Secretary, National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control, Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA), National Pension Commission (PenCom), Nigeria Export Processing Zones Authority, Nigeria Social Insurance Trust Fund, Asset Management Corporation of Nigeria and Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN).

Recently, some Northern groups slammed President Tinubu over what they described as the dominance of the South-West people in the appointment of heads of security agencies.

According to them, the appointments will promote sectionalism in the country.

In April 2024, Northern Elders Forum said it regretted supporting Tinubu during the 2023 presidential election, adding that it would support someone “more inclusive, less controversial, and more aligned with the interests of all regions of the country” in the 2027 election.

PoliticsIMF Denies Asking Tinubu To Remove Fuel Subsidy In Nigeria by NLCreator(op): 5:17pm On Oct 25, 2024
The International Monetary Fund (IMF) has denied playing a role in the removal of fuel subsidy by the President Bola Tinubu-led Nigerian government.

This was stated at a press conference during the IMF and World Bank Annual Meetings in Washington DC, United States..

According to the IMF’s African Region Director, Abebe Selassie, the decision reached was a domestic one.

“The decision was a domestic one. We don’t have programmes in Nigeria. Our role is limited to regular dialogue, as we have with other nations like Japan or the UK," the official said, according to Vanguard.

While agreeing the need for investment in critical sectors of the country, like healthcare, infrastructure and education, he argued that the government’s choices regarding subsidy removal reflect its long-term strategy for sustainable economic growth.

"Ultimately, these are profound domestic and political decisions that the government had to make,” he said, expressing that the IMF sees these choices as steps toward greater public resource efficiency.”

“We recognise the significant social costs involved. The government can mitigate these by expanding social protection for the most vulnerable.” he said in reference to Nigerians affected by the impact of subsidy removal.

It would be recalled that President Bola Tinubu announced that subsidy was gone on May 29, 2023, a development that led to hike on fuel prices with a litre selling for over N1000 as of the time of this report.

The government was accused of following the IMF policies in implementing total subsidy removal.

PoliticsU.S. Doctor Discovers 'Obi Bitters' As A Cure For T-Pain Fever (Pics) by NLCreator(op): 1:46pm On Oct 24, 2024
A U.S.-based physician, Dr. Steven Bush, has announced a potential breakthrough in the treatment of T-Pain fever, a condition caused by a rare bat species known as Asiwaju, which is endemic to Nigeria. With symptoms that can quickly escalate into life-threatening complications, the discovery has brought hope to those affected.

Understanding T-Pain Fever

The fever is transmitted through bites from the Asiwaju bat, which can often be found hanging upside down from the finial of a flagpole proudly displaying the Nigerian national flag. With an insatiable appetite, it nibbles on the two green stripes of the flag, savoring their vibrant colors while leaving the white stripe in a tattered mess. Once it has munched its fill and compromised the flag’s integrity, the bat loses interest in its current perch. With a flutter of its wings, it embarks on a search for a new Nigerian host, eager to find a fresh target to feed on and spread its infectious bacteria.

The Asiwaju bat's rotten teeth harbor dangerous bacteria. "Once bitten, the bat attaches itself to the host, leeching on their nutrients while simultaneously infecting them," explained Dr. Bush. "The bacteria from the bat's decayed teeth enter the bloodstream, spreading the infection throughout the body."

The disease manifests with early symptoms such as stomach cramps, fatigue, headaches, difficulty concentrating, body odor, and mouth odor. "These symptoms can worsen significantly if left untreated," said Dr. Bush. "In severe cases, patients may experience drastic weight loss due to calorie deficiencies, anemia from iron or vitamin B12 deficiencies, and stunted growth in children."

Dr. Bush emphasized the serious repercussions of untreated symptoms, particularly in regions like Nigeria where economic hardship limits access to hygiene products like bathing soap. "Failure to maintain proper hygiene due to limited resources can exacerbate problems like body odor, leading to skin infections and other health complications," he explained.

Similarly, neglecting oral hygiene poses severe risks. "Ignoring mouth odor and poor dental care can result in tooth decay, gum disease, and tooth loss," said Dr. Bush. "Worse, bacteria from untreated dental issues can spread through the bloodstream, potentially causing life-threatening conditions such as brain abscesses and heart infections."

PREVENTION & CURE USING OBI BITTERS

Due to the high mortality rate associated with untreated T-Pain fever, Dr. Bush stressed the need for prompt action. "The best way to prevent these symptoms from worsening is to get rid of T-Pain as quickly as possible," he said. "Nigerians must use Obi Bitters at the earliest sign of symptoms to reduce the risk of severe health complications and even death."

Obi Bitters, a traditional herbal concoction, has shown promise in alleviating T-Pain fever symptoms. "Initial results suggest it can help restore energy levels and reduce the severity of symptoms," Dr. Bush stated. "However, it’s crucial to adhere to the recommended dosage."

Dr. Bush warned about the risk of overdose due to the pleasant taste of Obi Bitters. "It tastes so good that it might tempt some people to take more than advised, but that would be a mistake," he cautioned. "Overdosing on Obi Bitters can lead to chronic obesity. For those who do happen to overindulge, regular exercise and hitting the gym can help counteract the potential weight gain."

PoliticsNigerians Hail Tinubu For Sacking Uju-Ken Ohanenye, Appointing Bianca Ojukwu by NLCreator(op): 6:04pm On Oct 23, 2024
@EgheUnuigbe

Among these, the sacking of Uju-Ken Ohanenye, Minister of Women Affairs, stands out as particularly justified, given her recent controversies and alleged inefficiencies in handling her portfolio. Her removal is seen by many as a necessary move to improve the Ministry’s leadership and effectiveness.
@TheoAbuAgada

Uju Kennedy dared me on the phone, saying that she won't be sacked.

I told her that unless I am not serving a living and true God, she won’t escape what is coming for her.

God did.

Someone should please take me to PBAT house. I want to give him a hug.

I am crying right now.😭😭

Thank you President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

I love you so much!!!!!
@donpanacio

A very strategic appointment! With Bianca experience as Ambassador in different countries, i believe that the role of Minister of State Foreign Affairs is perfect 👌
@Praising_David

I call her appointment as an Appointment of Strategic National Unity. It heals the sore wounds of the Nigerian Civil War. Her records as a two time Ambassador and beauty pageant holder justifies her appointment to the Tafawa Balewa House.
@Renoomokri

The sacking of Uju Kennedy-Ohaneye, the Minister of Women Affairs of Nigeria, is a praiseworthy move by the President. This woman is more suited for the World Wrestling Federation than for a role in government.

Constantly engaging in petty squabbles and disrupting events and occasions. And her meddlesomeness in cultures she does not understand, like the marriage of 100 orphaned girls in Niger State, which was consensual and did not involve underaged girls, was a major setback for the popularity of the administration in the North.

I commend the President for showing her the door. He needs a person whose temperament is calm, with a more contemplative attitude, such that they think long term and begin with the end in mind before speaking and acting.

Additionally, the coming on board of Ambassador Bianca Onoh is a significant plus for the administration. This is a woman I know personally, and can vouch that she has the character and breeding to bring class and polish to the Federal Executive Council.

HealthBody Odour: Rising Cost Of Body Care Threatens Abuja Residents’ Personal Hygiene by NLCreator(op): 3:09pm On Oct 23, 2024
Abuja residents have expressed concerns that the increasing cost of body care essentials may compromise personal hygiene.

In separate interviews in Abuja on Wednesday, they noted that staples like deodorants and antiperspirants have become luxuries.

A Nyanya resident, Juliet John, said, “The price surge in skincare products is alarming, as they promote personal hygiene and cleanliness. Deodorants previously costing between N500 and N600 now sell for N2,000 and above.

“We’re not discussing perfumes and colognes; rather, roll-on deodorants and antiperspirant body sprays are the essentials protecting many from body odour.”

Ms John added, “The prices have skyrocketed, becoming unaffordable. As someone who struggles to maintain my hygiene routine. It’s impossible for me to keep up.

“It’s outrageous for those whose income barely covers household necessities. These essentials may now be seen as luxuries rather than vital for personal hygiene.”

However, David Agwu, a resident and businessman, maintained that he would continue using his preferred products in spite of the cost.

Mr Agwu noted that improvising was wise, as good personal hygiene boosted confidence.

“Investing in affordable alternatives, such as mini oil perfumes under N1,000 and budget-friendly antiperspirants, can mitigate the financial impact,” he advised.

He said this would prevent embarrassment from body odour and enhance confidence.

Nnenna Solomon, a general physician, emphasised the importance of adopting clean habits and a structured lifestyle to eliminate body odour.

While deodorants, perfumes, and antiperspirants are essential, she stressed paying attention to specific body parts during bathing.

“Proper bathing habits and regular physical exercise are the most effective treatments for body odour,” Ms Solomon added.

PoliticsStop Wasting Billions On Vehicles, Cut Expenditures - World Bank Tells Tinubu by NLCreator(op): 12:50pm On Oct 22, 2024
World Bank Tells Tinubu To Cut 'Wasteful Expenditures' Under His Watch Including Purchase Of Vehicles

The World Bank has ranked the Nigerian government as weak in terms of cutting wasteful expenditures.

According to the World Bank’s Nigeria Development Update seen by SaharaReporters, the global financial institution said the current administration led by President Bola Tinubu must start “cutting wasteful expenditures that are not essential such as purchase of vehicles, external training, among others”.

SaharaReporters has before now reported how the Tinubu-led administration spent billions on purchase of SUVs.

For instance it was reported that the Tinubu administration spent N9.2billion in three months to purchase State House vehicles.

Another report had noted how the Tinubu-led government paid N250 million for decorations within five days for First Lady events.

The Tinubu government also spent another sum of N14 billion on renovations, honorariums and purchase of forex despite the economic hardship facing the country.

There have been concerns over financial transparency and accountability by the Tinubu-led administration especially with management of the country’s stated scarce resource as a point of concern.

Recently, the Tinubu administration bought a Presidential jet quoted to cost N150 billion.

This development is even as Nigeria continues to lament scarce resources, banking on loans to fund its deficit and in the process incurring high debt servicing figures.

The Senior Vice President of the World Bank, Indermit Gill, had recently said the President Bola Tinubu-led Nigerian government must sustain the current economic “reforms” for “at least another 10 to 15 years to transform its economy.”

He had spoken at the 30th Nigerian Economic Summit in Abuja on October 14, and also attracted discontentment from several quarters in the country.

PoliticsHardship: Daily Petrol Consumption Crashes By 92% Under Tinubu — NMDPRA by NLCreator(op): 4:07pm On Oct 21, 2024
Daily consumption of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) or petrol in Nigeria has dropped drastically under one year after President Bola Tinubu assumed office on May 29, 2023.

Data obtained by Channels Television from the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Product Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA) Daily Truck Out Report, showed that consumption as of August 20, 2024, was 4.5 million litres per day.

The daily petrol consumption as of May 2023 was 60, 000 million litres per day, according to the NMDPRA.

An estimation brings daily consumption down by 92 per cent after May 29, 2023.

Analysis of the report, shockingly, revealed that out of the 36 states of the federation, only 16 states got product allocation from the Nigeran National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) in the month under review.

This meant that those states that did not get product allocation suffered scarcity in August.

General view of the market in Jibia on February 18, 2024. – Nigeria, which shares 1,600 km of border with its neighbor, was until now one of Niger’s main trading partners with $193 million in exports in 2022 according to the United Nations (electricity, tobacco, cement, etc). Since the border closure, it has even been a double whammy for the local population, who have seen food prices explode under the combined effect of new movement restrictions and galloping inflation after the Nigerian president , Bola Ahmed Tinubu, in office since May, implemented economic reforms which plunged the country into crisis. (Photo by Kola Sulaimon / AFP)

A breakdown of how NNNPCL distributed the products among the 16 states, showed that Niger got the highest allocation of 21 trucks, amounting to 940, 000 litres daily, Lagos got the second highest of 12 trucks amounting to 726, 001 litres, and Kaduna got 12 trucks of 454, 001 litres.

Other states such as Oyo got 12 trucks of 454 litres, Kano 9 trucks, Ondo 6 trucks, Kwara 6 trucks, Edo 4 trucks, and FCT 4 trucks.

The likes of Sokoto state received 4 trucks from the NNPCL, Ogun state got three trucks, Osun three, Gombe one, Benue one, Ekiti one and Kebbi, one truck.

President Tinubu on May 29, 2023, declared an end to petrol subsidies, which at that time had gulped about N12tn in 10 years.

According to the president, payment of petrol subsidies was no longer sustainable as it had plunged the country into huge debts.

Petrol price has since skyrocketed from N195 per litre to about N1300 per litre, pushing up headline inflation to an almost three-decade high of 34.19 per cent in June. It has since slowed to 32.7 per cent in September.

The cost of living has also risen, plunging 129 million Nigerians into poverty, according to the latest data by the World Bank.

Since the border closure, it has even been a double whammy for the local population, who have seen food prices explode under the combined effect of new movement restrictions and galloping inflation after the Nigerian president , Bola Ahmed Tinubu, in office since May, implemented economic reforms which plunged the country into crisis. According to the global financial body, the over 129 million Nigerians represented a sharp rise from 40.1 per cent in 2018 to 56 per cent in 2024.

The World Bank report read, “With growth proving too slow to outpace inflation, poverty has risen sharply. Since 2018, the share of Nigerians living below the national poverty line16 is estimated to have risen sharply from 40.1 per cent to 56.0 per cent.

“Combined with population growth, this means that some 129 million Nigerians are living in poverty. This stark increase partly reflects Nigeria’s beleaguered growth record. Real GDP per capita has not recovered to the level it was at prior to the oil price-induced recession in 2016.

“The COVID-19 pandemic compounded this drop in economic activity. Moreover, growth is failing to outpace inflation: large increases in prices across almost all goods have diminished purchasing power.”

Poverty in the most populous country in Africa has risen in 2023, affecting 104 million people, compared to 79 million five years earlier, according to the World Bank. The prices of food items and basic goods have skyrocketed following an increasing inflation rate and devaluation of the Naira, making daily life increasingly difficult for millions of Nigerians. It added, “Multiple shocks in a context of high economic insecurity have deepened and broadened poverty, with over 115 million Nigerians estimated to have been poor in 2023. Since 2018/19, an additional nearly 35 million people have fallen into poverty, so that more than half of Nigerians (51.1 per cent of the population in 2023) are now estimated to live in poverty.”

A related report by a foreign news medium, AFP, also detailed how Nigerians have since abandoned their cars as a result of the pounding hardship.

“I parked it at my son’s house. I use public transport now,” Emmanuel, a 72-year-old retired health worker, told AFP. “It is not convenient, but it is what the economy demands.”

Car dealers in Lagos and Abuja told AFP that they had seen more and more people trading their fuel-guzzling cars and sports utility vehicles (SUVs) for more efficient vehicles to cut costs.

“People are actually selling their big cars these days,” Maji Abubakar, a car dealer in Abuja, told AFP. “The problem is that even if you put them on the market, there isn’t much demand for them.”

“It has been more than a year since I sold a car with an eight-cylinder engine, and the major reason is the price of petrol,” he added.

PoliticsReno Omokri Hints At Why Peter Obi Won't Bother Responding To Him by NLCreator(op): 10:59am On Oct 20, 2024
In my opinion, which may be wrong, it is beneath Waziri Atiku Abubakar to exchange words with Nyesom Wike. Far beneath him. They are not on the same level. At all.

When Atiku was vice President, Wike was a Local Government Chairman, not even a Governor. It will even be beneath Waziri Atiku to go toe to toe with the then Governor of Rivers, Dr. Peter Odili, much less a former Local Government Chairman under him.

If I were Waziri, I wiukd allow Wike to say whatever he wants about me and absorb it. It does not diminish Waziri. What diminishes Waziri and gives Wike muscles is Atiku responding to him or attacking him.

If Atiku engages in a media exchange with Wike, it is a promotional advert for Wike and a demotion for him. Even if there must be a response, Waziri could consider delegating it to his running mate in the 2023 election, former Governor Ifeanyi Okowa. And if Okowa is unwilling, then he should request another surrogate to do so.

But to personally throw jibes at Wike or respond to Wike's own quips should be considered a low hanging fruit by Waziri. Even Governor Simi Fubara does not respond directly to Wike, how much the former Presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party.

If a lion chased after rats, it may be mistaken for a cat.

PoliticsTinubu PCNGI Reacts As CNG Vehicle Explodes In Edo by NLCreator(op): 7:12pm On Oct 17, 2024
The Presidential Compressed Natural Gas Initiative (PCNGI) has reacted to the explosion that occurred at a NIPCO filling station in Edo State when a car using CNG was getting a refill.

PCNGI is a component of the palliative intervention of the President Bola Tinubu’s administration “directed at providing succor to the masses occasioned by the transitive hardships of the fuel subsidy removal policy of the Federal Government of Nigeria,” according to information on its website.

The explosion reportedly occurred on Wednesday at a NIPCO CNG Station at Ikpoba Hill in Benin City.

The PCNGI, in a statement issued on Thursday titled, “Safety Incident at NIPCO Benin City”, said the explosion was caused by an illegally modified and welded cylinder which is not approved and fit for CNG use.

Though no life was lost in the incident, videos making the rounds on the internet showed that several persons were injured while the trunk of the affected vehicle was shattered.

Some witnesses in the viral videos said the cylinder might have been fabricated by a local welder, suggesting potential flaws in its construction.

In its statement, the PCNGI said the police, regulatory authorities and the management of NIPCO are undertaking a painstaking investigation of the incident and that it is coordinating with them in the investigation.

The statement reads, “The Presidential CNG Initiative notes the unfortunate incident that involved an illegally modified vehicle at a NIPCO CNG Station at Ikpoba Hill in Benin City on Wednesday, October 16, 2024.

“The PCNGI commiserate with those injured in this avoidable incident, and thankful that no lives were lost.

“The PCNGI also notes that safe handling of all hydrocarbons is critical to their safe use. A close examination of the cylinder in question in Benin City shows it was welded and modified and not approved for use for CNG.

“The police, regulatory authorities and management of NIPCO are undertaking a painstaking investigation of the incident and we are coordinating with them.

“This incident reiterates the impetus of the PCNGI and our partners on the soon to be launched Nigeria Gas Vehicle Monitoring System at SON, NMDPRA, NADDC and FRSC to tackle any bad actors in the ecosystem that seeks to make this safer, cheaper, cleaner and more reliable source of fueling risky for all.

“We also call on all stakeholders to cooperate with the new system of regulation and ensure full compliance.

“Only accredited conversion centers must be patronized and safe handling of CNG just like petrol ensures safety of all.

PoliticsThank God! - Nigerians Celebrate As Reno Omokri Endorses Tinubu (Pictures) by NLCreator(op): 6:51pm On Oct 16, 2024
Nigerians have exploded onto social media like an Owambe party, popping champagne bottles and dusting off their dancing shoes after the news broke that Reno Omokri, the “political jinx,” has endorsed President Tinubu for the 2027 elections. As the news hit, playlists were quickly updated to feature T-Pain’s catchy tunes, with "Ebin Pawa" and "Balablu" blasting from speakers across the nation.

Omokri, whose previous endorsements of Goodluck Jonathan and Atiku Abubakar left both campaigns buried deep in the political graveyard, has now achieved a new level of notoriety as the official harbinger of doom. His latest “blessing”? None other than President Tinubu.

Nigerians didn’t waste a second before launching a meme fest, slapping Reno’s grinning face onto Tinubu’s signature cap in place of the infinity logo. “As if the hardship lines on Tinubu’s forehead weren’t already doing the most,” read one viral caption. “Now he’s gone and sealed his fate with Reno’s jinx. Congrats, Mr. OTP—One-Term President!”

Social media buzzed with the sentiment that Reno’s support is practically a kiss of death for any politician. "First Jonathan, then Atiku—now Tinubu?" wrote Hungerbad. "Tinubu’s forehead was already overloaded with ‘hardship,’ ‘fuel subsidy pain,’ and ‘Naira depreciation,’ but slapping Reno’s face on there has officially turned it into a cursed QR code that only scans for more suffering."
