The boys could’ve been unjustly murdered and lies told to cover up the real reason why they were killed.
If the vigilante had positioned themselves well enough to intercept the thieves, no one would have been killed. The so called rice thieves would’ve been arrested and handed over to the appropriate law enforcement (police)

If they had received enough training in weapon handling, then those boys would’ve been alive to tell their own stories.

The reverse might be the case. They probably might have caught the vigilante in the act, but because they where holding guns, they gunned the acclaimed Individuals to death. Vigilante are core criminals everywhere. I don't trust them one bit
