Politics / I Will Work With President-Elect, Tinubu – Makinde by noleflendum: 9:24pm On Mar 19, 2023

Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo state has promised to work with the President-elect, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu when his government is finally inaugurated in May 29th.

Makinde made this promise in an interview with TVC on Sunday.

He said, “I will work with the President-elect. We will continue to work towards ensuring that Nigeria is united. We will make sure Nigeria is on the path of inclusivity. We will work with the passion to create value in our country Nigeria.”

Recall that the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC had earlier officially declared Makinde winner of the governorship election in the state.

Makinde polled a total of 563,617 votes while his closest rival, Sen. Teslim Folarin scored 251,230. Adebayo Adelabu of the Accord came a distant third polling 38,757.

Makinde is the last of the PDP G5 or Integrity Group with an election. Already, Governors Okezie Ikpeazu (Abia), Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi (Enugu) and Samuel Ortom (Benue), who have been in office for eight years each, all lost their senatorial bid while Nyesom Wike (Rivers) who is also completing his second term as Governor didn’t run for any elective post.

With the defeat of three of his comrades, all eyes were on Makinde in the March 18 poll. With his declaration as the winner by INEC, Makinde survived the defeat suffered by other G5 members.

Governorship elections were held in 28 of Nigeria’s 36 states on Saturday. The governorship and state assembly elections were held a week later than initially scheduled after a court case forced INEC to move them forward.

Eight of the 36 states — Anambra, Bayelsa, Edo, Ekiti, Imo, Kogi, Osun, and Ondo — have governorship elections “off-season” due to litigations and court judgements.

In alphabetical order, the 28 states where governorship elections were on March 18 are Abia, Adamawa, Akwa Ibom, Bauchi, Benue, Borno, Cross River, Delta, Ebonyi, Enugu, Gombe, Jigawa, Kaduna, Kano, Katsina, Kebbi, Kwara, Lagos, Nasarawa, Niger, Ogun, Oyo, Plateau, Rivers, Sokoto, Taraba, Yobe, Zamfara.

Of the 28 states, 11 serving governors including Makinde sought reelection while 17 outgoing governors are in the final weeks of their constitutional two-term limits of eight years, having been sworn in on May 29, 2015.

they tried using fake news and information, faa faa foul because the man himself is "mr go and verify"
they gat nothing against him on corruption because Nigerian ROCK is the mai gaskiya and incorruptible man.
they now result to childish tantrums.
hahahahaha.
we told you guys before that they have no manifestos to campaign with apart from their usual old tribalism and tribal card.
they would have had an easy campaign with Osinbajo on the ballot because I wonder how a sane person will be campaigning against Osinbajo.
the only thing you can have against Osibanjo is his party and nothing more. but few times he headed things he proved himself within same party.
Nigerians would have had a tough choice to make between Osibanjo and Obi but they made the choice easy for the youths and the youths have chosen to pull themselves out of suffering from those who wish to molest this country "TURN BY TURN"
Suffering knows no tribe or religion

Crime / Indian Police Bust ‘Notorious’ Drug Cartel, Two Nigerians Arrested by noleflendum: 4:44pm On Mar 11, 2023

The Special Cell of Delhi police on Friday busted a three-man international drug cartel involving two Nigerians and an Ivorian supplying banned substances across India.

According to a local media platform, Bhaskar live, 14.5 kg worth Rs 60 crore (N3,371,078,241.00) in the international market from the accused identified as Nnamani Ahukajude (44), a resident of Nilothi Extension and Chinezie (34), a resident of Greater Noida (Uttar Pradesh), both Nigerians including Franck Oumar Ibrahim (40), a Cote d’Ivoire national who resides in Greater Noida.

The official said that members of the cartel used to store drugs at a house in a posh colony of Greater Noida.

The Special Commissioner of Police (Special Cell), HGS Dhaliwal, said that there was information about the indulgence of many Delhi-based persons of African origin in drug trafficking in parts of the country from Delhi-NCR.

“A specific input was received on March 4, about the arrival of a Nigerian national with a consignment of Methaqualone near a petrol pump at Dhaula Kuan-Gurugram Expressway to deliver the consignment to his contact. A trap was laid and he was nabbed,” said the Special CP.

During the search of the trolley bag of the man identified as Nnamani, 4.680 kg Methaqualone was found concealed in cardboard boxes further wrapped by clothes kept in the bag.

“Nnamani disclosed that he was a member of the drug cartel being run by persons of African origin in Delhi-NCR. He also disclosed that he had procured the recovered drugs from one Frank Oumarlbrahim of Cote d’Ivoire residing in Greater Noida,” said Dhaliwal.

“Franck was nabbed on March 5 near Mata Chanan Devi Hospital, Janakpuri at the instance of Nnamani. On search, eight kg of Methaqualone was recovered from the dickey of his car. Franck disclosed that he had received the consignments of drugs from another Greater Noida-based drug supplier namely Chinezie, a Nigerian national,” said Dhaliwal.

On March 6, Chinezie was arrested from outside ONGC Building, Vasant Kunj, New Delhi. A total of 1.250 kg of Methaqualone was recovered from the bag he was carrying.

“A search of his rented house, Greater Noida was conducted and 570-gram Methaqualone was recovered from there,” said the official.

“Arrested three drug suppliers were thoroughly interrogated. They disclosed that they would receive the consignments of Methaqualone from a person of African origin in Greater Noida. They used to exchange drugs mostly in the area of INA Market, Vasant Kunj Mall, C-1 Janakpuri and Vikaspuri in Delhi,” said the official.

The accused also disclosed that they used to send drugs to Bangalore and Mumbai from Delhi/NCR through their carriers.

Their modus operandi is that they send their carriers to Bangalore via Ahmedabad only by long-route buses which they board at Dhaula Kuan. Carriers carry drugs in secret cavities of their bags.

The cartel members never travel by train or plane while in possession of drugs.

After delivering the consignments, carriers return to Delhi by air. The accused arrested have also disclosed that they have been in drug trafficking for more than two years.

“All the three arrested drug suppliers have been illegally staying in India without valid travel documents. Nnamani said that he had arrived in India in March 2022 on a six-month tourist visa, but did not return to his country even after the expiry of the visa,” said the Special CP.

“Franck disclosed that he had come to India in January 2022 on a six-month tourist visa, but he never returned to his country Cote d’Ivoire even after the expiry of his visa.

Chimezie came to India in January 2018 on a tourist visa for six months.

“However, he did not return to his country Nigeria thereafter and has been staying in India illegally since then.

“Efforts to identify and arrest the remaining members of the drug cartel are going on,” the Special CP added.
