You compare them to their previous year GDP value. That is how you measure their growth.

You measure your growth based on what you earn last year and not based on what Dangote earns.

You get the logic now?
Lol. PMB, leave this matter. 🤣.

Na you write Nominal Value for there. Nominal value does not take inflation or other factors like devalution into account.

You can't compare Nominal to Real Values. The former is just face value while the latter shows the actual purchasing power.

GDP is always calculated in Naira. Every country CBN calculate their GDP in Naira.

Then they convert to USD when comparing across countries to have a standardized value.
Lol. This one you cannot win.

You're simplying saying that Venezuela and Zimbabwe that had/have trillions in devalued currency are signs of economic growth?

Baba wetin na? 😅
Christianity Etc › Re: Deeper Life Pastor Says It's Unbiblical Not To Bear Husband's Name As A Wife by NothingDoMe: 12:36pm On May 04, 2025
Dvea:
The translation I have of Isaiah 4:1 is

When that time comes, seven women will grab hold of one man and say, please let us call you our husband....

It did not say let us take your name. That is simply a translation issue. Calling your husband doesn't mean taking your husband's name.

To my point biblically people were called by either their fathers name or their location... Mary of Magdala, or Jesus's of Nazareth. If you want a verse then 2nd Samuel 11: 3 Bathsheba was called the daughter of Eliam even though she was married to King David. A whole King.

Back to your point. Isish was foretelling the destruction and exile of the isrealities due to their sin and the punishments they will have. Men will die in war and women will have no men to marry. That passage had nothing to do with the normal lives of people. So why do people like you take Bible verses out of context and use it to back up your point. The Bible is a history book with events that led to and away from everything. You are using a passage that foretold a punishment that happened even before Christ as your yardstick. And the translation of the passage isn't even the same through out all Bible versions. Do you see how problematic you people are. That's why a pastor can come and tell you things like this and you'll clap your hands and say ride on.

Back again to my point that you so conveniently ignored. What about traditional customs that do not allow women take their husband's name. Are they all sinners because you want to claim it's not Biblical?

The world is bigger than your own beliefs and cultures in Nigeria. Learn about other customs and stop trying to use the Bible to back up your private opinions. Because if I want to, I can also claim the Bible says men who have properties are all bad and doomed to die.... Isaiah 5: 8
1. Which translation of Isaiah 4:1 are you using?

2. 2nd Samuel 11:3 David sent and inquired after the woman. One said, "Isn't this Bathsheba, the daughter of Eliam, the wife of Uriah the Hittite?"

You are misquoting scripture to prove your point. She wasn't David's wife at this point. As you can clearly read she was called Uriah's wife.

3. It seems your thoughts on this matter are somewhat disorganized, making a substantive response or debate challenging. Summarise your thoughts with straightforward points.

Let's focus on one discussion at a time. We should stick to our initial debate on what the Bible says about name change. We can then move on to cultural discussions afterward.
Christianity Etc › Re: Deeper Life Pastor Says It's Unbiblical Not To Bear Husband's Name As A Wife by NothingDoMe: 11:37am On May 04, 2025
Dvea:
This is untrue. Why do we take our own beliefs and force it on others and then claim it's biblical.

In the Bible women were called and linked to their fathers same as sons. You'd see many people in the Bible being referred to as YYYY daughter of YYYY. Biblically linage was paternal so daughters retained their identity to their father not to their husbands.

Besides we forget that there is a world beyond West Africa. If he had said its mot right in Ghanaian culture I won't argue but to say it's wrong the whole world over ignores all of the cultures that traditionally requires women to keep their fathers name. Most south east Asian countries like China, Korea, Vietnam have traditional laws where women keep their names.

Many European countries have the same law such as Spain, Greece, and France. Even Canada has such a law.

We trolly need to stop tagging everything as biblical in a bid to solidify our own opinion. He could have just said I don't think it's right not it's not biblical.
I already quoted Isaiah 4:1. You may counter it with another scripture.

Please quote one scripture in the bible that shows that a woman MUST bear her husbands name.

Just one please.
Isaiah 4:1 And in that day seven women shall take hold of one man, saying, We will eat our own bread, and wear our own apparel: only let us be called by thy name, to take away our reproach.

I don't want to say what's on my mind. However, this is double standards coming from Chimamanda who is a self acclaimed feminist. Is she not supposed to be a voice for women being a feminist?. Surrogacy is a form of slavery, prostitution, exploitation of a woman's body. She knew she didn't practice what she preaches, little wonder she didn't come out earlier. Like it or not, accept it or not, any baby born through surrogacy does not belong to you biologically. No matter how some states or countries might legalize it, biologically, the child isn't yours still. Well, I wish her well. But next time, stay one place, if you want to practice feminism, do it with your full chest, otherwise, commot. Reminds me of Linda Ikeji preaching abstinence but lo and behold, aunty was busy jumping on Uber to go and collect. I hate double standards.
There's Gestational and Traditional surrogacy.

One of the above does not require the surrogate to use her own eggs.

Nigeria is a great country.

Just a few bad eggs making the country look bad.
But recently, we are doing everything to uplift the mad image and make good representation of our people... To whom we are known for..mm "SMARTNESS" "INTELLIGENT"..

We hope that the people bringing shame to this great country will stop and the FG will have to enact serious punishment to them....
America is great because they put their citizens and country first.

Nigerian police has turned itself to a revenue generating company with yearly payment of tinted glasses and vehicle registrations.

You haven't spoken against this. The government is silent. When the citizens cry out in social media and start campaigning against this oppression you'll come out to say they are giving the country a bad image.

Nigeria is a great country and we will encourage more foreign investors to come and do business here.

The more you people keep dragging this kind of news on people's FYPs to see, you are directly telling foreign investors who'd love to bring the changes you want, to look elsewhere. Then al you do is keep wailing.

The US was in a trade war, their citizens never portray the country as a weak economy tonscare investors away.
That's not a fair statement. The fake stats were posted by Reno & Co for the world to see.

Posting fake stats on the Internet and expect investors to flock into your country? Not only did you confirm that you are broke, you also proclaimed that you are fraudulent.
