The only key takeaway is that Funsho Williams who came close in 2003 was found assassinated before the next cycle. Jimi Agbaje came close in 2015 and then came the infamous "drown in the lagoon" comment to make him the "Igbo candidate". Rhodes-Vivor came close in 2023 after Obi handed their behinds to them on a plate but then came "our Lagos, not your Lagos" amid massive violence and voters suppression. The lesson to unpack from all these is that someone's hold on Lagos is very fragile and have only succeeded due to stoking hatred. APC had 21 governors in 2023 but Tinubu only won 12 states. Of those twelve, only 6 were APC-governed states. Why didn't all 21 governors deliver their states? Even a combination of Sanwo-olu, Gbajabiamila, Obasa, Fashola, Ambode and Tinubu himself failed to deliver Lagos. Can you tell us why?
