This means our oil will still be competitive even more that the other exporters. Putting tarrif will not stop Americans from buying crude to run their cars, ships, factories etc, they will only pay more.
The truth of the matter is that trumps tarrif is good as it will only hasten the decline of America, it will cause inflation and recession. Who pays for the tarrif? Americans as the cost for American companies to clear their imported goods through their customs will increase, of course it will be passed to the consumers.
Some say tarrif will cause an increase in production in the US, economists think otherwise. American cost of production is extremely high eg labour cost. What about supply chain materials imported that will be used to produce, tarrif no de ontop? How do they replace medicine or it's raw materials with supply chain heavily linked to China and India?

You guys are not smart. The US is using this reciprocal tariff to ensure that there is a level playing field for US exports. Again Trump wants to reduce cost of production by ensuring cheap energy and reduce taxes on companies, eliminating income tax to ensure more American have increased income. This is to position US strategically in trade as well.
Now in the case of Nigeria we are at a serious disadvantage because the US is already stepping up shale production, and it has reduced price to $60 per barrel mark and our budget crude oil price is $75 per barrel.
So already our revenue target is impacted and budget funding is at risk, which will make the government either increase taxes to further burden the people or borrow more money. So FG has to bite the pill and remove all tariffs on imports from US so that their income stream of oil exports to US is protected.
