Politics › Nigerian Set To Attempt A GWR For Most Trees Planted By An Individual In 24 Hour by Oceanfl0w(op): 11:34am On Mar 22, 2025 |
I, Michael Odenigbo, Senate President of the National Council of Enugu State Students (NACESS), and an environmental advocate who is passionate about climate change mitigation through tree planting is delighted to announce that i have gotten an approval from the Guinness World Records (GWR) to officially attempt the record of "Most Trees Planted by an Individual in 24 Hours."
This bold step is bore out of the unprecedented actions needed in today's world to curb the ravaging effect of Climate change. It is on that note, the official attempt will take place on June 5th, 2025 in commemoration of the World Environment Day, here in our beloved Enugu State, Nigeria.
With premium dedication and perseverance, i aim to plant at 27,000 trees within 24 hours, surpassing the current record of 23,060 trees.
Through this attempt, i aim to enhance Enugu's carbon sequestration through massive tree planting, raise global awareness about the importance of trees and climate change particularly among young people, and establish a platform for my goal to plant 5 million trees by the year 2030.
I would like to use this opportunity to thank the government of Enugu State under the leadership of Gov. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah whose administration has brought a prioritized attention to climate change issues, and given an enabling ground for projects such as this.
Thanks to Professor Sam Ugwu, Enugu State Commissioner for Environment, for his efforts in ensuring that the ministry is pragmatic in discharging its duties, and his collaboration with us so far.
I also appreciate Hon. Williams T. Amuka , Member representing Igbo-etiti west Constituency in Enugu state House of Assembly, who is also the House chairman on Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) for his essential contributions towards the progress of this project.
Special thanks to Prof. Aloysius Michael Okolie, Vice Chancellor of Enugu State University of Science and Technology, the University management, and the ESUT Green Energy Committee for playing a vital role in this project. We can not thank ESUT enough for their prompt response in not only providing a professional assistance and site for this project, but also assuring us their full support towards making it a success.
I therefore invite all climate inclined organizations and individuals to support and join us as we make this history.

They are still plotting to repeat what they did in the 60s' to Yorubas simply because Yorubas are yet to retaliate and teach them a bitter lesson.
If you love them, you should warn them to stay off Yoruba affairs and politics.. a lot has changed and Yorubas won't watch another round of killings targeted at our leaders by a particular ethnic group regardless of what anyone says.

It was gathered that the police command began an immediate investigation after its operatives linked the incident to a suspected case of ritual killing. The Nigerian Police Force, Ogun State Command have discovered a dismembered female body in a sack in the Ogijo community of the state. This was stated in a press statement issued by the command on Monday. It was gathered that the police command began an immediate investigation after its operatives linked the incident to a suspected case of ritual killing. The statement reads: “On February 16, 2025, at about 1510hrs, the Chairman of Sedu 2 Community, Ogijo, and two other community members, reported to the Ogijo Police Division that they had discovered an unidentified female, describing the features as light complexion, about thirty years and above, and fresh body in a fenced farmland within the community. “Upon receiving the report, detectives, led by the Divisional Police Officer (DPO), swiftly mobilized to the scene. On Police officers’ arrival, they found the female corpse without a head and two hands, wrapped in a sack.” The police said, “investigations suggest that the body was dumped at the location”. “The crime scene was cordoned off and the remains have been deposited at Olabisi Onabanjo University Teaching Hospital (OOUTH), Sagamu, for preservation and further forensic examination.” This is coming a few days after reports of a final-year student of Kwara State College of Education, Lawal Hafsoh Yetunde allegedly killed by an Islamic cleric, Abdulrahman Mohad Ballo. SaharaReporters had reported how the suspect reportedly lured Yetunde after connecting with her on Facebook and obtaining her phone number. The incident reportedly occurred on Monday, February 10, 2025. It was gathered that Hafsoh was attending a naming ceremony when she received a phone call from a friend. However, she left her food to answer the call and then disappeared. Family members and friends searched for her in vain before reporting her disappearance to the police at the Oja Oba Station in Ilorin the following day. Meanwhile, police investigators used her phone records to trace her last call, leading them to Ballo, who resides in the Offa Garage area of Ilorin, though his family house is in Isalekoto. https://saharareporters.com/2025/02/17/suspected-ritualists-dump-dismembered-female-body-ogun-state-community

Politics › Lawal Hafsoh Yetunde: Police Arrest Islamic Cleric For Murder by Oceanfl0w(op): 10:11pm On Feb 16, 2025 |
The Kwara State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of an Islamic cleric, Mohammed A. Bello, in connection with the gruesome murder of a final-year student of the Kwara State College of Education, Lawal Hafsoh Yetunde, aged 24.
The suspect, a 25-year-old resident of the Offa-Garage area in Ilorin, was apprehended following an investigation that led to the recovery of several incriminating items.
However, the items include two mobile phones and the slippers of the deceased, dismembered body parts (both hands), a plastic bottle containing the victim's blood, a cutlass, a knife, an axe, a wooden box of black soap, a sack containing charms, and a centre table allegedly used in the crime.
In a statement released on Sunday, SP Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi, spokesperson for the Kwara Command, confirmed that Bello admitted to the murder. She stated that it was carried out as part of a ritual for "Oshole/Ajoo," a suspected money-making ritual.
The statement reads, "On February 11, 2025, at about 1800hrs, Mr Ibrahim A. Lawal ‘M’ of Adefalu’s Compound, Oju-Ekun Area, Ilorin, reported at the divisional police headquarters C-Division Oja-Oba; that his daughter, Yetunde Lawal, had attended the naming ceremony of her friend's baby not far from their place of residence, the previous day February 10, 2025, at about 1400hrs but never returned home.
"Concerned about her whereabouts, her mother contacted some of her friends, but no useful information was obtained. When her father was informed, he made several attempts to call her phone numbers, but the calls went unanswered.”
Adetoun explained that tracking her phone number led to the arrest of Abdulrahman M. Bello.
It further reads, "The suspect was immediately apprehended and taken into custody. During interrogation, he confessed to the killing of the victim.
“Further search at his residence led to the recovery of exhibits, including two mobile phones and slippers of the deceased, dismembered body parts (both hands), a plastic bottle containing the victim's blood, a cutlass, a knife, an axe, a wooden box of black soap, a sack containing charms and a center table used in carrying out this heinous act. The suspect Mohammed A. Bello has confessed to the crime with the intent to do ‘oshole/ajoo ówò’ (money rituals).”
She added that the case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Ilorin for a thorough investigation and subsequent prosecution.
"The Kwara Command also extends its heartfelt condolences to the entire family of the bereaved. May Almighty God console and comfort them in this period of grief while assuring that justice will be served.
"The Kwara State Police Command urges the general public to remain vigilant while reporting any suspicious activities of person(s) to the authorities.
In case of emergencies, call these numbers 07032069501 or 08125275046," the statement adds.
Previously, SaharaReporters reported that an Islamic cleric in Ilorin, Bello, was arrested for allegedly killing Lawal Hafsoh Yetunde.
Bello reportedly lured Yetunde after connecting with her on Facebook and obtaining her phone number. The incident is said to have occurred on Monday, February 10, 2025.
Hafsoh was attending a naming ceremony when she received a phone call from a friend. She left her meal to answer the call and subsequently disappeared. Family members and friends searched for her in vain before reporting her disappearance to the police at Oja Oba Station in Ilorin the following day.
Police investigators used her phone records to trace her last call, leading them to Bello, who resides in the Offa Garage area of Ilorin, although his family house is in Isalekoto.
The suspect denied any involvement in her disappearance. However, a search of his residence revealed a shocking discovery: Hafsoh’s dismembered body was found in a bowl, along with tools suspected to have been used in the gruesome act.
Bello initially claimed that Hafsoh had died from an asthma attack after visiting his residence. https://saharareporters.com/2025/02/16/police-confirm-arrest-islamic-cleric-murder-kwara-college-student-recover-dismembered
