Hello everyone, I urgently need your advice and help.

I’ve been battling this situation for over a year now.

In 2024, I moved into my current apartment after getting a job that I believed would be enough to sustain me. I had to borrow money from some good friends to afford the rent.

Before then, I was staying with a friend, but I mostly slept at the office and only came home on weekends. When he got married, I needed to give them space. Around that same time, my office relocated, and I could no longer sleep there. So I had to urgently get my own place.

After searching, I found an apartment I really liked — quiet compound, gated fence, prepaid water, and generally peaceful. I used the borrowed money and my savings to pay for it. I didn’t even have extra money for basic things like curtains or a mattress. I simply cleaned the place and moved in like that.

After a few weeks, it became very uncomfortable sleeping on the floor with bright light coming through the windows. I took a FairMoney loan just to fix some basic things — at least I covered the windows and bought a gas cylinder so I wouldn’t have to buy food outside all the time.

But when month-end came, my salary wasn’t enough anymore because most of it went into loan repayments. I started borrowing again just to meet basic needs. Before I realized what was happening, I took another big loan from Access Bank, thinking I could manage it. I later discovered their interest structure was not as straightforward as I thought.

Within three months, I was already frustrated and overwhelmed. I had to stop repaying my friends so I could focus on paying Access Bank and FairMoney.

Then I started facing challenges at work.

Some months later, I began seeing scorpions in the apartment in strange ways. Sometimes, the moment I switched on my torchlight, I would see one directly in front of me, as if it appeared suddenly. Earlier, there were ants and other insects, but I used insecticides and found lasting solutions that got rid of them. However, the scorpions kept reappearing.

Exactly one year later, when I was trying to renew my rent — and had even pleaded to pay it twice — I lost my job in the same month I was supposed to complete the rent balance. That period was the hardest time of my life. I had already disappointed the friends who helped me before, so I couldn’t go back to them again.

I faced rejection after rejection. I was even rejected for a church security job — and I’m a graduate.

Eventually, I got a security job. The pay wasn’t great, but I managed with some side gigs. After three months, the low salary became too difficult to handle, and the contractors weren’t improving conditions, so I left.

Recently, the scorpion problem has started again — and this time it’s worse. Sometimes I kill up to five in one night.

Has anyone experienced something like this before? What practical solutions worked? Please, I need reasonable advice.

I also need to add something personal. I’m a Christian, but I’ve noticed something confusing in my life. It feels like whenever I pray more seriously, I experience more difficulties. From August to December, when I had stopped praying consistently, the scorpion issue reduced, and I even started getting online side gigs more frequently from October. I thought God had finally answered me.

Then I joined a 21-day prayer and fasting program in January, and that’s when the bad dreams and heavy scorpion infestation started again.

I’m confused and tired. What should I do?
