Christianity Etc › Re: Should A Pastor Return Money Given To The Church By A Corrupt Politician? by Odotech: 8:48am On Dec 31, 2024 |
Gov fayose paid an Edo lawyer mike ozekome N75m legal charges for defending him against buhari govt in court while dasuki was under probe. The Efcc turned around to sue ozekome to recover the N75 million which it considered part of the N4billion dasuki gave fayose from office of the NSA account. The bank record was correct but EFCC lost the case against ozekome because ozekome stood his ground that he was paid for a service offered and he is not a law enforcement agency empowered to probe clients income nor does he have the legal right or resources to vet the source of the fund.
Under a sound justice system, unexplained personal gifts to a pastor private account for no services offered could make the pastor an accomplice in a financial crime. But if paid to a publicly available church account which is designated for receiving public donations, the church would have a strong defence line especially if there is a history of public donations recieved and if the money doesn't get re-wired back to the politician or their proxy or no evidence of dubious chats/messages between the parties.
Morally, the church is not obliged to reject. There is no biblical precedence. Money were only rejected in the bible from those who want to buy the miracles or miracle working power of God with their money. As long a pastor makes it clear that giving money to church is not their ticket to heaven, the pastor commits no offence. The pastor has no way to tell if a donated money was stolen or earned by the said politician. Look at it this way, you have a shop selling bags of rice, a yahoo boy comes to buy a bag of rice from you and intentionally dash you small extra money. Will you be committing a sin by accepting his payment knowing fully well that it's fraud money? What about the tip? Will you reject it? Or is it a sin? Yahoo boys go to a hospital and after being attended to, they parcel thank you money in envelope and share for the doctors and nurses, is it a sin? Is it morally wrong to collect? |

Too many cannot reason or see beyond their immediate pecuniary needs or beyond their local cultures/environment 2 of Nigeria big name pastors had problem in UK and USA for opaque financial dealings. One sold his books in the USA and asked for fund to be repatriated. The books were clearly marked not for sale to evade taxes. His pastor in the USA took advantage of that to involve law enforcement and break out. Happened many years ago. The other opened his business arm in the UK by registering his school as non profit to evade tax and was banned from the UK. What we think is normal in Nigeria is abnormal everywhere else. Or are you afraid to say what you learnt here in an intelligent way for others to learn? You have actually said nothing so far as far as this discussion is concerned. We are talking about the opaque way revenue and expenditures are handled by religious bodies particularly in Nigeria. Many churches outside Africa do present members with financial reports of their audited account. So what are you saying here. Even, some do write budget at the start of the year and they spend responsibility according to the budget known to all members or at least workers. So what are you defending about Nigerian churches that are unable to be accountable and transparent to their members on financial issues Do you know the legal meaning of misappropriation of funds. You can do a project with money contributed by members for another project and it's a legal crime even though you didn't eat the members money. I'm aware that some archaic minded and curmudgeonly acrimonious individuals are claiming that the ministry I oversee (i.e The Real Life Gospel Church) is foreign based and promotes foreign interests above Naija interests. That's not true. Such claims are false, such claims are malicious and they're ill intended to create bad feelings for us amongst Nigerians. RLGC is in Nigeria, RLGC is for Nigeria and RLGC cares for Nigerians. RLGC is a global or international gospel industry, but her roots are in Nigeria and your beloved General Overseer is a Nigerian. splendournoni: Sometimes I know we are quick to talk but try dey ask questions before going public.... Don't get upset. I know any discussion about churches easily stirrs emotional reaction from you guys. But, can you genuinely answer these questions: 1) which of the multinational church corporations in Nigeria audits their account with the services of external and international auditing firms such as Deloitte, PWC, etc 2) how many of the multinational church corporations have you ever seen their yearly financial report published on their church magazine, their website or on a national daily before. Every other organizations registered under law publishes financial reports for transparency and accountability. 3) how many churches work on a yearly budget basis - a budget seen by its members and vetted by a committee that has non-yes daddies in it's membership 4) have you ever seen a breakdown of how much your own church generates from various channels such as YouTube, magazines, tithes, donations, etc before? Religious organizations activities are opaque generally in Nigeria. That's why you have pastors diverting church fund to private real estate businesses like the one currently accused by efcc. You sheeps enable prevention of transparency and accountability in your respective churches . But when law enforcement wades in, the entire body of Christ is embarrassed by a problem you could have prevented by just being transparent and accountable in management of public fund |

On the day we left we found out we landed in dar Salam instead of the zanzibar promised with no activities planned down at all before we were even allowed into that dar Salam we had to pay $100 for yellow fever and visa on arrival for dar Salam, we asked the reason we landed in dar salam instead of zenzibar and she said it was cos we paid late and flights to zanzibar was already 2.something million. Which was expensive that she bought the tickets 1.9M i checked online that 24th and flights leaving lagos 25th of December was still being sold at 1.5M for round trip 10days gap the hotel she booked was at dar salam too when all the activities are on Zanzibar island we got upset and had to look for a new place that same day courtesy of me using booking.com we went there and paid cash cos madam came with her Naira visa card to pay for hotel in Tanzania. She went to Access bank Tanzania with same card and was told there's nothing they could do for her. She came back and was upset that we aren't sympathetic to her plight that how much did we pay that our money was finished and she's spending hers.so i sent her the cheaper flight options schedule i saw online and the cheaper agent options i also got and left using her thinking is better my friend eats my money than outsiders then i said let's calculate how much have you spent after calculations she found our side of money remaining and kept quiet the next day she was able to get someone to send money through western union and refunded me and my friend our hotel fee for 2 days. I told her that is dollar visa card that might work in international settings and she said she brought it so i said show it to me and she said she won't that since i already believe she's a liar i should take it like that. I brought $ 500 dollar extra money for food and tour activities o. MY BF already said that peer pressure and my GFs will kill me someday i no dy hear word inside that my $500 dollar that I won't finish 10days in Nigeria $100 is gone o, still had to spend another $100 for travel insurance and ferry to zanzibar and back to dar Salam for the travel back we got to zanzibar and stayed in 3 different hotels 5 different rooms in 7 nights, 6days nothing me and my other friend eye didn't see we couldn't eat their food so it was only chicken and chips with pancakes every single day we lost weight I had skin burns even with sun screen my face was peeling my skin was burning.this girl did only 2 activities with us in 2 days every morning she wakes up go out and come back in the evening, i asked so this is the fun you promised me leaving me in the hotel room. she comes back after we have slept daily the activities I brought up she will say take bike to round about take a bus going to where you want . Some days she will come back by 4pm shower pretend to be making calls and leave without telling us where she's going, Took us to club a club she has gone with the indigene the previous night left us sitting like idiots went outside to be making calls again i couldn't see but my other friend could she got upset and said let's leave i went outside told her thing's here are expensive let's contribute and buy wine and shisha like we do in Nigeria then i saw someone an indigenous person have told her i don't want to see again cos that guy took $25 from us for showing us where dy sell food something others where taking $5 for.immediately i saw the guy i saw red me that was persuading the other girl we should stay longer na me stop bike i was feeling like a charity case like she brought me here for free so I went to Kenya airways and checked our flight bookings and found that this stupid babe didn't contribute upto 500k for this trip her flight was booked with our money flight was 1.3M and she told us 1.9 sent her the evidence expecting an explanation I got non so I asked her while she was on a call cos she was about leaving again and she said someone bought the flight ticket show us the transaction receipt you sent to that person she said all her WhatsApp messages has been deleted and instead of her answering us she was telling the person on the phone can you hear what my friends are saying. I told her I already know say you go chop my money I use my open eye come this trip but I didn't know you will be so wicked as to take my money and do nothing and planned nothing. Very irrational and erratic and this their shallowness is why Nigeria cannot grow If you have sense you will know that population may be diminished by history of wars, and may increase in favor of the more amorous tribe. Also migration pattern. The ijaws, urhobos, igalas, Ibibio may have had a part of their population who migrated away to Cameron or guinea. Mohammad was born into a country where Christianity and Judaism were already being practiced. When he started his movement, he openly admitted that a demon possessed him, then flew to an Ethiopian community practicing Christianity for protection because the secular society he was born into rightfully tried to eliminate him for trying to kill or convert everyone else from their respective religion to his own newly formed religion.
Mohammad plagiarized some of the old testament bible texts, Arabian cultural dressing, church ethics of ringing bells to call for prayer back then in his local community, amongst others. What makes this villain infamous is the lies, deception with which he corrupted the bible original interpretation and the false claim that a fallen angel called jubril or so spoke to him. So this fallen angel was not able to tell you something new but had to start by corrupting your mind against Jews and 0christians through twisted interpretation of the bible. Truth is Mohammad was mad at the Jews in Medina who rejected his false teachings. That's where his paranoia with the Jewish and Christian religion started. He was on a revenge mission to kill the Jews and evacuate christians and traditionalists from his home country for rejecting him He had to lie that a spirit was talking to him just to cajole his followers to support him |

Crime › Re: Yoruba Elders Lament Rising Cases Of Ritual Killings In South West by Odotech: 9:21am On Dec 20, 2024 |
UncleAyo: Something needed to be done urgently
The rising cases of ritual killings are deeply troubling and call for collective action from individuals, communities, and governments. Here are some strategies to address the issue:
1. Strengthening Law Enforcement
Enhance security measures: Increase police presence in areas prone to ritual killings.
Special task forces: Establish units dedicated to investigating ritual-related crimes.
Swift justice: Prosecute perpetrators promptly to deter others.
2. Public Awareness Campaigns
Education: Raise awareness about the dangers and myths surrounding rituals through media, schools, and community programs.
Engage influencers: Use religious, traditional, and community leaders to debunk myths and promote positive cultural values.
3. Address Root Causes
Poverty alleviation: Many people turn to rituals out of desperation for wealth or success. Addressing unemployment and poverty can reduce this desperation.
Mental health support: Offer counseling for individuals tempted by harmful beliefs or practices.
4. Collaboration with Religious and Traditional Institutions
Engage faith leaders: Partner with churches, mosques, and temples to promote ethical teachings.
Traditional leaders: Work with local chiefs and elders to discourage harmful practices within cultural contexts.
5. Legislation and Policy Reform
Stronger laws: Enact and enforce stricter laws against ritual killings and related activities.
Regulate spiritual practices: Monitor and regulate activities of individuals or groups promoting harmful beliefs.
6. Community Vigilance
Neighborhood watch groups: Encourage communities to report suspicious activities.
Empowerment programs: Train citizens to identify and counter harmful practices.
7. Promote Positive Cultural Values
Highlight success stories: Share stories of people who succeeded through legitimate means.
Youth engagement: Provide platforms for young people to express themselves and focus on productive activities.
8. Leveraging Technology
Hotlines and apps: Establish anonymous platforms for reporting ritual-related activities.
Surveillance: Use drones, cameras, and other technologies in crime-prone areas.
Addressing ritual killings requires a holistic approach that combines prevention, enforcement, and re-education. Everyone has a role to play in eradicating this menace. unfortunately, nobody in this cruise nation found this educative writeup worthy of likes. Please anyone in govt reading through should put a call across to this uncle ayo on how to implement these pragmatic situations. I wonder why people like these are not in power or why daft and inept people are more common in the place of authority |

Eg , if I recharge my Gotv , the vat will go to Lagos which hosts the company headquarter instead of Enugu where I base ? The present tax law forces companies to pay taxes where their headquarter is. That's why oil companies pay tax to Lagos govt not delta or bayelsa where exploration happens. Telecom companies pay tax to Lagos not any other state where call is made. Unconfirmed rumour seems to suggest tracking of origin state is figured into this new bill for tax purposes. But again, the northern governors are crying for that to be done.
