DEEP WITHIN BENUE WITH DR Jeffrey Kuraun .
Benue state produces food and fruits in massive commercial quantities, but unfortunately, and due to lack of proactive government policies, storage and processing facilities, and a robust channel for moving the produce to other parts of the country and even the sub region of West Africa, astonishing wastages are recorded.
Dr Jeffery Kuraun identifies these challenges and he is deeply concerned and consequently poised to ensure that government policies and programs will address these problems in the immediate, short and long term schedules.
He has a robust plan for: 1. reviving the moribund food processing cottage industries and establishing new ones close to the sources of the raw materials to reduce waste and ensure that we add value to our produce, create employment and earn more revenue. 2. Establishing free trade zones in the state to encourage the movement of these produce accross borders into neighbouring states. 3. Establishing a process that will address the excessive and multiple exploitation of buyers and farmers by different agencies in the name of revenue generation for the state and local governments which had over time discouraged mutually benefitting commerce and unfortunately leaving the state with produce rotten away in large quantities.
The plans are many, deep and far reaching...... Benue, let's do this. Juwon Tunde https://m.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=10159563243385837&id=739915836&sfnsn=scwspwaLalasticla
