Flipmac: Yes I was coerced. They delayed me and told me that I wouldn't board my flight if I didn't tip. I had my BTA with me, it was $1k in cash and all were $100 notes. No way I'm giving anyone $100.
So they held me until the airline announced my name. Bastards. Pity. But, good you stood your ground. |

It is their headache o. A society that produced someone like him should be able to rein him in and if they cannot, it is still their problem. Exactly. Trump and his Magat does this when they know they are losing. Propaganda don start |

thatigboman: chairman wetin u dey talk? About 5 years ago when I travelled to UK for holidays and came back in abuja. All travellers were forced by customs to go into a room and open their bags. I told them "nothing to declare" and they say "my friend, go in there and open your bags". Opened, just clothes and shoes and they say I should give them money. From N5,000 when ended at 2k. When I travelled and came back 2 years ago abuja airport, surprisingly customs passed me without anything, and I was so happy. Just for NDLEA standing there where my bag was scanned to stop me and told me though they knew I was clean but I had to drop something for them else they would open my bags and waste me. Gave them 3k. You still don't get. Let them waste your time and don't drop chichi! |

Flipmac: Oga it seems like you've never left Nigeria. They'll do everything to extort money from travelers especially first time travelers. I remember my first time. Luckily, I made a Nigerian/British who had a British passport and schooled me to stand my ground and not give a dime.
Also, I only had dollars with me so imagine how much I would've parted with.
This is shitthole country and our travel system is messed up. If you disagree you're either deceiving yourself or have no travel experience. My point is, were you forced to drop money? In your submission, you said someone asked you to stand your ground and you did! No be force to tip.. |

Shikena: You are right. Most of our people at the airport are very professional or at least, pretend to be, when eyes are on them. Things have significantly improved on that aspect over the years. Unless you have personal issues relating with people, it's hard to have issues with those airport staff nowadays. Exactly. I was in naija couple of months back and it was smooth sailing... It's normal to hear officers saying "Oga, wetin you bring for us na?" Here, if you like give tips, if you like just smile and waka go. Tips no be requirement and no be by force. I could give tips but na $s I carry...I don't play with my $s o |
Travel › Re: My Experience Visiting Nigeria After 5 Years Abroad by OgaTheTop2: 2:56pm On Nov 05, 2024 |
LordIsaac: Same here. I came around in July, the Airport staff showed good professionalism. Yes. They are professionals. Yeah, you can give tips if you want. But, omo, tips not a requirement as some people peddles these lies. I taya for naija people, honestly. We always put ourselves in bad light..smh. |
