Want to know how to answer “WHAT IS YOUR SALARY EXPECTATION?” in an interview? Here are some suggestions. 1. Tell the interviewer that you will consider anything that is fair market value for the particular role. (You can review fair market values on Glassdoor, LinkedIn and other sites). 2. If being enticed away from current employer add 15%+ depending on the industry. 3. Give a tight range eg. 100,000-150,000. A very wide range is like giving no ballpark at all. 4. At entry-level the salary is most likely disclosed, and you may not be asked. 5. Some regions are permitted to ask last salary. Personally I am no fan of this. Why? Because that was then; this is now, and I struggle to see the relevance. Always state that you are open to negotiation. Always state that you are open to incentivisation based on the growth of the company ie. stock options, bonus etc. 1-5 are suggestions only. There are no rules. YOU have to decide what you expect in remuneration, and feel comfortable discussing it. Good employers KNOW that they have to pay for excellent qualifications, skills and experience! Know your WORTH and don’t be afraid to state it! |
