I don't know your village, but cash has never been an issue in my hometown.

It's ok. It seems you are based in southern Nigeria and our experience in Northern Nigeria can not be the same. I live in a state where 10 local governments have neither microfinance banks nor commercial Banks. You have to travel to north central, north east and North West of Nigeria to see things yourself.

Most states in Nigeria are like this. And they've been surviving before POS came. My village was like that also. We had a microfinance bank there.

If you go to most rural communities, you'll find microfinance banks there. So stop behaving as if Nigeria didn't exist before POS or Nigeria would cease to exist if POS is banned.

How many villages have you been to in Nigeria? Tell me the name of the microfinance bank in every Nigerian village. It's like you are day dreaming.

Nigeria was existing without phones. So we should stop using phones because people steal with phones. You are simply cut off from reality.

They should start by gradually placing a ban POS. Cos as long as they continue to exist freely, Naira buying cannot be totally eradicated.

Back then if you want money just go to the nearest ATM point in your vicinity and withdraw. If it's your bank you wouldn't be charged a dime. Today most banks ATMs are for beautification. You'd hardly find cash there.

Some people might argue that commercial banks don't penetrate deep into rural communities thus making it difficult for people in those communities to access cash. This is where microfinance banks come in. We had one like that in my village before first bank came. And microfinance ATMs don't rip people off like POS, they don't engage in naira buying cos their customers are mainly village traders who go there to deposit their proceedings for the day especially on market days. In most cases, the microfinance bank staffs would go directly to the market to meet with traders and collect their cash. So they had a sustained daily inflow of cash.

Let's go back to the traditional ways of going to the nearest ATM for our money. If not we might soon be paying 1k to withdraw 5k from POS vendors.

I'm a supporter of Obi but he is wasting his time on this pos issue. Has he even thought of what pos agents spend to get cash? Pos company charge them too! They pay local and state and federal governments levies. They pay rent and staff! No one forces anybody to patronize pos agents. He should fight banks to make cash available to their customers and stop disturbing pos agents doing their legit business. Obi has forgotten that 50% of Nigerians are unbanked. I live in a state where 10 local governments have no banks, only pos has helped us to withdraw and transfer cash. He should write Tinubu to establish banks in all communities! How many communities are safe to host banks? This Obi is becoming jobless by the day!

I thought you guys usually receive money from banks!

No. Banks do not give us cash. Going to bank is stressful because of distance and they may not give you enough cash. But getting from business owners is cool.
